hi fellas,
i have a sensation z710
i have random shuwdown problem for a while.
i tried different roms, different kernels, firmware update, battery calibration. i put a piece of paper on the bottom of battery
but i still have same problem.
and i noticed that when phone has %70-80 charge and when it shut down, after i start it again, it says low battery and shows %10-15 battery.
i wanted to try another battery but i dont want to spend money for that before i would be sure, problem is my battery.
is there any thing ı can do to fix this problem?
thanks for helping

Although I can't be 100% sure, it sounds like your battery... What battery are you using?
I suggest you buy an original Anker 1900Mah battery, and see how you go.
you need a new battery, your battery is getting old, that is why random reboots are popping......how long did u have the battery? If u have the battery for almost a year and a half, time to start changing
i have stock battery and it s almost two years old. Time to change battery ha ?

YES! Please get Anker Battery from eBay or Amazon. It will make your life more easier
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Anker-Exten..._Cell_Phone_PDA_Batteries&hash=item4ac3f8bf01
http://www.amazon.com/Anker®-1900mA...75&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+battery+sensation+4g
battery lifetime does not only depend on age, but also on usage.
for my knowledge (correct me if i am wrong) lion batteries suffer age and heat (so usage in my opinion has a little impact only). i received my htc sensation some mounths ago from my brother that changed phone and the battery was swollen. in fact the phone shuts down very much. i have an anker battery from some days and the problem disappeared check if he battery is swollen, if yes change it!

They are affected by chage and discharge as well. The charge and discharge is hard on the battery and causes it to wear out. But that's also how you use it. So basically using it wears it out. Same as car tires. They will last a long time if you keep the car parked. But the more you drive the faster the tires wear out.

I'm interested in getting a spare battery for this phone, but I'm wondering if for some reason this would be bad for the phone? Like is swapping batteries some how messing up the calibration? Say I used the phone and killed 1 battery and then used other one the rest of the day and I did this every day. Would this impact anything negatively?

Definitely would throw off the calibration, but with the extra kick of a fresh charge you shouldn't feel it
How long have you had your phone? The first could of days the battery life was horrible, but once everything settled, the battery life doubled.
That being said, i found a battery and charger on ebay for 8.95. It's one of the cheap ones, but it's hard to go wrong on a 9 dollar battery.

Im using it along with an anker 1900 battery. They both preform the same to my usage
It is a heavier battery than my anker though.

yup, same size with the original. It felt a lot better, few hours longer battery life.
E.g. : if you just keep the phone idle for 5 hours, it sill 100% remain.

I bought this battery in 2011y on ebay that claimed to be 2450mAh but it was only 1400-1500mAh.
Original battery works for me (on JB ROM) around 18-24h, with this fake - around 20-26h.
Sry my english... =)
Buy batteries from a reputable dealer, too many counterfeit ones going around! I just bought mugen 3600 directly from mugen, it's been amazing! Highly recommend! It's worth the cost !
sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1, mugen battery. please press thanks if I helped in anyway.
Just bought one in Spain from eBay too. 8.5 eur, free shipping. I'll discharge it first to 0( it came 70% charged), then I'll run nova battery tester benchmark and post results. The stock battery gave me 1420mah until the phone switched off at 1% on the long test of that app. Using pydx kernel, elegancia 5 rom.

How well does it perform compared to the Anker one? The most I've gotten out of my Anker so far is three and a half day, but that is without using it a lot. I find that it mostly depends on the ROM you're using tho, and due to that I prefer the sensless ROMs, because they seem to run a lot lighter than their Sense counterparts. But hey, that's my observation.

What's your screen on time?
Someone got 4 days, 2h40m screen and 45 min in call using anker battery.
Skipjacks said:
Okay I want to put this business about bad battery life and battery bugs and all that jazz to bed.
Look at my battery graph. I rest my case.
Any battery problems are not with the ROM. It's clearly capable of having disgustingly good battery life.
That's 4 DAYS since unplugging with 8% battery life left as of right now.
That includes 2 hours and 40 minutes of screen on time
45 minutes of phone talk time
This is on the April 26th build. And this is the FIRST charge since flashing that build. So the battery use probably isn't even maximized yet.
My settings are OnDemand 192 - 1242
Anker battery
Auto Brightness is off and I use the notification bar swipe to adjust brightness as needed
Alterations made to the Google Services Framework to eliminate Google Wakelocks (this has nothing to do with Albino's code, hence it's not the ROM) Click here for more details
Greenify to keep other wakelocky apps on a short leash. (I'm looking at you T Mobile's My Account app. You're so useful but you think you own the place!)
Haptic feedback is off for everything. The only thing that's allowed to use the vibration function is the ringer (I don't use a ringtone, vibrate only) and reminder notifications. If you have haptic feedback on for every press on the screen and keyboard you are basically giving up battery power to run a small electric motor. That's not an efficient use of limited battery life.
Full disclosure. I don't keep mobile data on all the time. I turn it on as needed. And I've been very busy doing other stuff the past 4 days so there hasn't been a ton of use time. Obviously if I had been using it more it wouldn't have lasted 4 days. But if the ROM can idle for 4 days and not drain itself dry, then battery problems aren't in the ROM. They are with apps, settings, or user error. Albino's ROM can be configured to run for what may as well be for freakin' ever on a single charge. I'm half expecting him to add "sustainable cold nuclear fusion" to the changelog of the next build.
So if you've got battery issues, go buy an Anker before you do anything else. Even if you have other problem that will make everything better. And stop talking about battery issues in this thread. Come to the FAQ thread (see link in my signature) and ask questions about how to improve battery life there. We'll take all battery questions there with a smile and be glad to help you, where in this thread battery questions will be met with verbal beratement for clogging up the thread with whining.

I was having awful battery issues. Itired all the fixes I finally got fed up an purchased a extended battery from mugen. It solved my issues completely. Now I have a battery that lasts for two days. If I'm using really heavy it's lasting about 24 hours. Yes it's the big battery 3800mah and yes my device is thicker from it but for me it's completely worth it. It still fits in my pocket and feels good in my hand. It was expensive but I was fed up with crappy battery life. So I paid the money. Honestly I don't regret it. I'm going to have to keep my phone for awhile any way so I might as well have a good lasting battery. This might also be an option for you? It solved my battery problems. Now I stay on 100%for two hours at heavy use! It's a give and take. You sacrifice the sleek thin phone but the battery life can't be beat. Sounds like your experiencing the drain like I was. I tired everything also but still I had a huge drain. I just wanted to share with you what I did to solve my issue. I know the thick phone isn't for every one. It just depends on the person. But it stopped my battery problems. Best wishes.

Which CM10 ROM?
Wow...really?
My battery is lasting me over 24 hours now, I've never had anything like this before. However, it all depends on your usage. Your screen uses up the vast majority of your battery life, and I don't sit on my phone all day. I also set the screen as dark as I can stand it.

Are other builds giving you better battery life? If tried a couple of Bruce, I am now on mEMBER (based on bruce's ROM) and I've tried AOSP and AOKP. All of them showed pretty bad battery life, I cannot have the phone lasting an entire day. I think the problem is the deep sleep, as you can see from my top screenshot the phone is always alive.
Do you have same behavior? I am on bruce kernel 3.0.40 with BADASS

Had my baby for a little over a year and a half, been nothing but a great phone in that time. This is where the problem starts... I'll be using it like normal, texting and surfing, and will have 98% battery, the phone will shut down, and when it decides to start back up, I will have 14% battery or less.... But it will go up if I leave it alone..... I've tried wiping the battery stats, even charging with the phone off, nothing is working. I will attach screenshots so you can see what's up.

Your battery is bad. Same thing happened to me, I recommend just buying a new OEM battery from a reputable dealer on Amazon, that's what I did. Try setting it down on a table and push on one side and if it rocks back and forth its bad. Or you can just look at it and see its swollen
Mine did that and it was just a bad battery. If you take the battery out and place it on a flat surface you may notice that it rocks left and right. If it rocks a lot or if you feel the middle and it feels swollen it may be symptoms of a bad battery.

It is dangerous because battery acid can get on you and cause sever skin irritation. You can continue like this for 1 to 2 days MAX until you get your new battery. Try not to use it because using it more will cause it to swell more, DUH try to only use it for emergencies and then once you get the new battery clean the terminals and you'll be good to go
I used mine got a while like that because i didn't know it was the battery lol

I'm curious about charging habits of the people who have bad batteries. I have had my phone since the day it came out and my battery is still fine. I never let it get below 30% unless I'm testing a new ROM. Killing lithium ion batteries is really bad for them. So how many of you drain it all the way on a regular basis?
I'm still using my old vibrant battery (at times). I don't think that it's as strong as the spare that I purchased a few months ago, but, is on par with the 18 month old battery that came with the phone. I zap them all the way down a lot of the time (then swap to a fully charged one). I do(try) to recharge to full before use though.
Mine does it but only when I'm using wifi or data could that still be a bad battery

Shallow discharge cycles are generally accepted to be better for Li-ion batteries than deep ones.

That is probably a bad idea. I would try to plug it in around 15-20% with 20% being the best time. According to the batteryuniversity website 20-80% is ideal for li-ion batteries because it keeps the heat down. Charging from less than 15% creates heat because that is a low level and takes a bit longer to charge from therefore exposes the battery to more heat. A good charger and battery will shut off the charger once it hits 100% and only allow for a trickle charge if the battery drops below 100%. But I have seen my phone get hotter from about 85% to 100% if Im using it ie: plugged in and streaming music or using navigation.
Hey all,
recently I have encountered a rather big and annoying problem on my phone. It has to do with my battery. I've looked it up on xda, but nothing was really exactly like my problem.
The problem is that my battery level has gone absolutely crazy.
First, charging my phone takes many many hours. After around 5 hours it still wasn't fully charged.
Then when rebooting the phone, it magically said 100%. However, after this the phone drained extremely fast. Think around 20 percent per hour, while using it normally!
Secondly, around 40 percent the phone automatically turned off, without the usual HTC logo. When I turn it on again the battery level is suddenly 2 %. After a few times turning off and on the battery level goes up to 30 percent. This can be seen very well on the pictures.
The phone is 1,5 years old and I haven't installed a custom ROM.
Am I dealing with a broken battery or is the problem in the software?
Hi,
I'm not an expert, but I think your battery is exhausted.
But before you run buying another battery...
What charger are you using? Stock HTC or custom? If custom, what are the Voltage/Current output values?
probably your battery is dying as the above user said
or the battery it doesn't connect properly
