don't forget to thanks, it's grateful!
Wow, thanks a lot, great review. I'll get you a thanks once I'm back on my phone. Ran out for the day. A quick question for you... I noticed the close up on the crab claw part of the mount. Is the inside of the claw covered with any sort of padded or soft touch material? I'm afraid if I used the mount with a naked phone that it will scratch the chrome on the Nexus 4. Can you speak to that at all?
By the way, great English... I'm semi bilingual, but it amazes me how well other countries can pick up english... even the ones that don't have any english speaking countries near by. Kudos.:highfive:

Yes there is, it's a soft rubber material that can grip your device. I pondered getting this, but opted for my Xenomix car mount that can hold both my N4 and N7. Only sacrifice is that the N4 can't be charged whiled using that dock. So I also use the Kropsson Aero mount. I can't really recommend the Kropsson, but it's been holding well for me. LOL
@Jayrod1980
As you can see on this picture, the red part is rubber or something like that.
It protect the phone completely where the crab pinch the phone
Thanks for your opinion about my English
Some people say that I must stop to speak because it's to hard to understand, and I know that for English sometimes it's difficult :/
But I try to do the best
@kpjimmy thanks for your answer
Your English is fine my man. My French is much much worse

I think the http://www.osomount.com/our-mounts/13-oso-zero-mount.htmlZero Mount is much easier to handle.
I have it mounted leftmost on the windshield.
Simply press down and pull slightly slanted off. It holds perfect through the glass back.
The extra lower plastic tray is not needed and can detached.

Yes it seems cool
But is that working with covers?
I guess it may work with some cases, but not all (e.g. leather flip cases....).
I use this exact clip and it's fantastic. The grip is very strong and it doesn't damage the phone at all.
Plus, if you get a new phone, you can still use it.
Got a white one off cl for $10!
Spray painted it black
Suction grip is amazing
Does rattle when bumpy otherwise fine
100% happy! I use to just tape my phone up lol

Can anyone tell me how large the ball is on the base portion? like if you removed the screw-ring, and separated the clamp part from the base neck part?
I have a great dock that I'm currently testing (the OWL wireless Qi CarPad charger in another thread here) but the base portion is just a sucker, and I like to mount my charger on my dash. I need to find something I can place directly on my dash, because of it's slight curved surface, 3m sticky discs don't work well and I'm afraid they'll pop off at some point.
Thanks in advance.

I think that ball is 17mm.
You're probably looking to buy something like the Arkon GN078:
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-GN078-Removable-Dashboard-Windshield/dp/B005V1L7W8
17mm ball mount
The suction base can stick to textured dashboards.
Depending on how curved your dash is, it may work.
Alternatively, you can buy the Arkon MG178 which combines the GN078 and the mobile grip for even less:
http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-MG178-U...=1358705322&sr=1-3&keywords=arkon+mobile+grip
I recently purchased the Platinum Series Mobile Dock which also has a similar base.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004H1KFP8/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i00
The suction part is VERY sticky and has a smaller diameter, which may work better for your curved dash. (Smaller area = less curvature to deal with)
It has the same 17mm ball mount.
Good luck with your search.

Awesome! This should work great. There's a little concern, as the Arkon one doesn't come with a screw ring, so it may not have clearance for one, but I'll give it a shot.
The current holder I'm using is an Arkon as well, so I may be able to Frankenstein the arm with ball on that one, onto this sticky base.
Thanks again!

check out this one. i have the one that suctions to window and its cheap and works great. of course, no bluetooth or google goodies, but that thing will never come out.
http://www.fommy.com/view-full-page.asp?skuno=86724
Got tired of waiting myself and ordered this a week or so ago. It was on my desk when I got home from work today finally. For its price and origin, it holds up pretty well, well at least the few hours I've tried it so far.
The suction cup had a plastic protective film, I removed the film, licked the cup and fastened it to the window. I gave it a few hard tugs and its on there pretty good. I look forward to seeing how it handles the Sun here in Phoenix.
Another good thing I like about it is, it is sturdy where its at. My universal dock for my G1 was flimsy and would move when I pushed the screen. This doesn't budge. Also the phone is securely locked in.
Only issues I'm having so far is I'm not used to using my index finger on the screen and I'm having issues but that's not related to the holder.

i Have that exact one, it is alright, except you can't rotate it at all, so the phone sits at an angle, and it scratched some of the teflon off the bottom of the phone. Maybe get some high grain sandpaper and make it a bit less sharp on the bottom left edge where it hold your phone.

I was able to rotate mine, I just loosened the knobs and made it angle to my taste.
Scratches from it? Does your N1 have a skin?

I got the padded tilt/swivel mount. It's very nice, it has a felt type texture to it. It is very soft and will definitely never harm my precious Nexus One. It is very sturdy, and holds the phone securely. I can drive like a maniac and this puppy isn't budging one inch! It is in the perfect "navigation position" for my car. I couldn't be happier
Like I said, it was pricey, but the quality of the mount is well worth it. I've had those cheapy universal style mounts in the past and they're always pieces of ****. It's nice to have a NICE mount for my nice phone

Yup, the bottom is completely open to plug in a car charger. They make a mount with the charger built in too, but it adds on to the already expensive mount, and I already have a car charger, and they don't have a padded version, so I opted for this one
That mount looks solid, secure & good location. Unfortunately, proclipusa doesn't have a vent mount for my Benz

If you tilt the phone to landscape orientation, does it slide out of the mount?
It appears that it is a drop in mount, so I am worried that if it is landscape and I take a turn sharply, that sucker will fly out of there.
I have the version which has the built-in charger, not padded; I use it in landscape 90% of the time (and switching is trivial). The phone is held quite securely.
Mileage may vary on the padded version.
I guess I'm the opposite. I prefer my navigation to be in portrait mode. It allows you to see more of the upcoming roadway in front of you.
But I can tilt it to landscape and it'd be held in just fine as long as I didn't tilt it too far.
Re: n1 car dock? NEED A LINK...
can one of you guys, post a or the link from a online store were we can buy this kinds of accessories? a trusted one of course. and not tmobile, because i think only users from that operator, can buy in the omline store. At least you need to provide a tmobile phone number for the registration (i'm in Portugal, so i don't have one). I'm especially interested in the car dock in this post. best regards!

I'm going to pick this baby up. Will report back on it later.
EDIT:
Don't order from them. They neglected to tell me that the bracket is on back order, so now they have my money and my bracket is in limbo. Who knows when they'll get another shipment of these brackets. I could have ordered from somewhere else and had it in hand by now. How irritating.

I finally got the bike bracket from Amzer. Very solid piece of hardware, and not obtrusive on the bike as I feared. Though the bracket swivels in 360 degrees, you can lock it in your preferred position and it stays there.
I was able to have full control over the phone's functions without moving the phone or bracket out of place.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to mount his N1 on his bike.
If you have any questions let me know.
Please See Addendum Below. DO NOT get this bracket.
How sturdy is it? How well is the N1 locked into the mount? I was thinking of using this on a motorcycle, but it would have to hold up to lots of beating and vibration...

It's been a long time since I've ridden a motorcycle, so don't know if the bracket would work on that kind of handlebar.
That said this bracket is very sturdy. I never felt like the phone was in danger of popping out. You have to pull the top part of the clip pretty far out to remove the phone. Be aware that there is no cover from the elements on this thing. If you get rained on, the phone is probably toast.
Please don't buy from Amzer / Fommy.com.
I've had a nightmare experience, and despite pressure from my BBB complaints and the Attorney General, it's been almost 4 weeks and I'm still waiting to receive the correct item.Horrible service and broken promises all the way.

I used this bracket for just the second time yesterday (weather in Houston has been wet for the last week). A quarter of the way through my ride, my music suddenly stopped. Sure enough, I glanced down to see the my headphone jack dangling. The entire cradle half of the bracket had completely popped off! I had to backtrack and found the phone separated from the cradle as well (probably upon impact). I had been cruising on a gravel road at the time, so my poor N1 is nicely dinged and chipped up except for the screen (on which I had a screen protector).
Of course, I'm fuming at the shoddy construction of the Amzer Bike Bracket. I can't imagine they will credit me the damage to the phone (which was in pristine condition). It's clear they didn't do any testing on their bracket's design, as upon further inspection, I found that the cradle has a sliding groove to settle upon the bracket itself, and obviously doesn't lock well enough to withstand normal vibration.
Using the bracket has turned out to be even more frustrating than actually getting it. Avoid this bracket like the plague.
Sorry to hear that man. I was excited to hear a review on that as I am in the market for something for while I'm road biking. Wish it would have worked out for you.
pakraider may be correct--
I have yet to get a response from Amzer about the product
I've made one myself with some parts. It's not cheap but it works great for about 1000 kilometers for now (on and offroad) without problems.

Krusell (sp) actually makes a kit specifically for bicycling using their multidapt case, along with every other kind of mount you could imagine.
What I did was bought a VERY cheap krusell case (2.99 on android for an old blackberry) a silicon case for my old mytouch, and some heavy duty contact adhesive. Add to the mix a little exacto knife magic (okay, a lot) and you have a customized mount that you can use ANYWHERE! For a lot less than the usual $40.00 they charge with this case.
They have car mounts, bicycle mounts, running armbands...everything you could think of - and they all use the 'multidapt' system. So you crucify one cheap case and one cheap phone sleeve, and you're golden.
I used the bike mount on my road bike. Simple, positively snaps in and out, minimum pieces to risk failure, and my mytouch was my GPS for a 120 mile road race (thank you cardiotrainer!)
If you've got the time and the tools, it's worth a try. The total setup cost me less than $25 from Amazon with shipping.
Anyone got any experience of these guys and their mounts?

Thinking of getting a car and bike mount from them.
Check this out. Gonna order some parts and give it a go. I'll let you all know how I get on.
Cheers,

That looks nifty but I always prefer OEM accessories... Probably because their quality control is more polished than mine.
Can you give the ebay links that are relevant to our phone?
Here is what you need.
Mount for Garmin Nuvi - LINK
Hardcase for i9000 - LINK
Sticky Pads - LINK
TOTAL: £5.06
How do u make the cup part that goes on the ball part ( I didn't see any such thing in the link...)
Sacky, the mount you quoted does not include the bracket to attach the suction mount to the phone case.
Here's what I've ordered, a bit more expensive, but they're all from the UK, so no waiting for bits from Ummygumgumland:
Mount Holder Suction Cup Garmin Nuvi 275W 255T 465T 260 - £4.99
Black Matt Hard Case Skin For Samsung i9000 Galaxy S - £3.82
Garmin Dashboard Mount Disc GPS SATNAV Nuvi 200 250 255 - £2.99
Total = £11.80 or £8.81 without the dash discs.
I'll update this thread when they arrive and let you know how I get on.
Cheers,
BS...
What's the dash disk for? Can't the garmin thing stick to the dashboard without it?
No it can't. It can stick to the windscreen, but not the dash. You don't need the disc unless you specifically want to attach it directly onto the dashboard.
Cheers,
BS...
Well the suction cup section has arrived, and it's sturdy as hell, perfect! Gonna modify it later using my Dremel type tool. Pics of the process to come.
Cheers,
BS...
The rest of the parts arrived today, I built it tonight and it has surpassed all my expectations.
Photos tomorrow.

Here comes the science bit:
Parts before modification:
Here is were I 'rough cut' the bracket, making sure to leave some of the curved bits on for fine trimming:
Fine trim the rest of the curved bits off to leave it nice and flat:
I'm an IT worker, not a glue expert, but i thought I did alright here
Clamp and leave to cure for a couple of hours:
Notice how the bracket is glued slightly to the left on the second picture, to allow the camera to 'shoot' past the mount when driving. Can be used with apps such as Autoguard Blackbox to record video when driving
Well, I'm made up with the finished article. It's absolutely rock solid when attached to the dash/windscreen, and the phone clips effortlessly in and out of the holder.
Thanks for looking,

The photos are working now but I agree yesterday the they weren't. I agree you have done a good job and produced a fully functioning bracket but you could have saved all the hastle by buying the one I got.
But then life would be so boring, plus I've seen a couple of comments about that type of holder scratching the silver bezel.
;o)

That looks awesome and a lot less clunky than the other one. Although there is an amount of hassle involved in doing this, i'm sorely tempted to get involved.
I had had my heart set on the samsung one that appears to have been discontinued ---> mobilefun.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-s-i9000-vehicle-dock-p25778.htm

Anyhow, i suppose i'll try to put one of these together, but it appears all the parts you have listed only ship to the UK, so i'll have to search for more local items.
Thanks for all the photos, looks good!
there literally are no accessories at any local store for my phone minus the gel case!

I bought this one, mainly because of the extended arm, so I don't have to reach over the dashboard to get to it
Then I bought a cheap mount with the same phone holder part, cut bits off both, bit of superglue here and there, and now my phone and it's silicon case fit perfectly! No scratches!
Hey all, I'm looking for a low profile car mount, most likely one of the magnetic ones, I want to keep it OFF my windshield. I just got a new 2014 mustang and it has 0 place to set it. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
get an itian ebay special qi charger and home depot special red scotch double sided mounting tape. works great.

This is what I ended up getting from Best Buy.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitec...26.p?id=1219231132128&skuid=6664126&sellerId=
Will come back with a review later, I had a $20 reward zone code so why not?
note 4 is too heavy for vent mounting....
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EEEKit-GoPr...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item5d53f61c53
Dont know if you have the convertible or not but.....
i picked this one up. going to attach it to my headliner (top left corner) instead of the visor. trying to figure out how to run a power cable up to it if i like it there.
I just get one of those sticky sunglasses rubber thingys, cut it a bit and placed it on my steering wheel base near the dash. And cut a little piece for between the speedometer and tach. Phone mounts nicely there, like having a built in GPS that can be seen right next to the speedometer. When the phone isn't mounted, it cannot be seen at all.

I'll post picks later but I didnt mount it on the vents, I mounted it on the center voltage flap, I might decide to go with the steelie down the road, but for now this works perfect for me and basically free.

They also have new version .
I'm currently using a car mount that you stick in your air vent, and then it's a magnet for you phone. Works really well, even with the note 4, for how heavy it is.

If you have a really heavy case, though, it might not work AS WELL, but it works pretty well.

I can't say that that is a universally true statement. There are some REALLY nice car mounts out there that are NOT iottie. I personally think that iotties are a little overpriced for what they are. There are equally good car mounts out there for a lot less of a price.

There is no equal when it comes to staying put on an uneven rough surface in -25c Canadian weather. Over priced yes but I'll take the peace of mind knowing my Note won't be lying on
the floor when I get back to my car or fall off while I'm driving.
3M double sided outdoor mounting tape does a better job in -40C canadian winters. and it costs a few cents.
I have used many different car mounts of all different costs, but this one is by far the best and not even the most expensive!

anyone recommend a good strong mount. been thinking maybe a car mount that will go in the CD player anyone using one
I've been using Mountek nGroove Snap 3 Magnetic CD Slot Car Mount for Smartphones and Phablets.
I had the cd slot mount... kept falling out since my cd player was set in deep. I ended up with this guy that I like a lot:
http://smile.amazon.com/MagnMount-M...1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
I use a dash mounted grip - works in horizontal not vertical and fits any phone up to 6 inches https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen-Ste...1786&sr=8-1&keywords=spigen+car+mount+stealth
I'm using an AnyGrip 100 MD.
* It is a dashmount and my dash isn´t real flat but bended (A Volkswagen Golf VI).
* Non adhesive (but you can use the provided 3M pad) and it's very very sticky!
* Even with my DBrand skin it sticks real good.
* It doesn´t leave any mark.

Do you have any photo of how it look in your car? How does it work or does it work with phone case installed?
Thanks

Sure. Here it is. Sitting nicely in the seam by the radio. And here's the phone on it. The metal plate is in the case. That way there is no damage to the car, no damage to the phone. Love it!

As others have noted, CD slot mounts are some of the worst in the "strong" department. If you look strong look into the Ram X Mount. But be prepared for the industrial anesthetic. I drive a Jeep Wrangler and love it, holds the phone firmly even when driving over rocky off road terrain. But I don't know if I would buy it for a passenger sedan.
Kenu Airframe+ as long as your car has the vents like shown in the pic is amazing!

I'm currently using an iOttie easy one touch 3 suction mounted to my windshield with my 6P. Even though it seems secure there is quite a bit of flex while driving. I drive a Ford Ranger so you feel every bump in the road, even on surface streets. I'm considering upgrading to a RAM X Mount myself(most likely rearview mirror attached mounted on an arm) not sure if it's worth the extra expense however.
Do you use a suction cup with your X Mount?

No, I pulled out one of the screws for the sun visor and replaced it with this
http://www.amazon.com/Ram-Mount-Motorcycle-Handlebar-Screws/dp/B005J43I56
Then I attached the X-grip
http://www.amazon.com/Ram-Mount-Universal-X-Grip-Phablet/dp/B00C7B2NV4
to the ball with this
http://www.amazon.com/Ram-Mount-Double-Socket-Swivel/dp/B009SX0J88
On the Jeep the screw for the sun visor is M8 so this is a fairly clean setup. The X-grip is on the left side of the steering wheel
Is it worth the expense? It depends. There is still a decent amount of play and vibration, especially off-road, but there is zero change of the phone coming loose which is good enough for me. I don't need to read anything on the screen, I just need to be able to see a pre-defined route on a topo map. If I were to do it again I would probably not use a double-socket swivel arm, because the extra joints introduce a lot of play. You get to position the phone perfectly but it does vibrate when there is decent shake in the vehicle.

Personally using a Logitech +Drive car mount. Its operates through magnets and they come with a metal plate which is adhesive but i don't peel off the adhesive protector and chuck it in between my case and phone. I mount the dock on my dash with the included base plate that has a 3M adhesive on the bottom. it would work both on your windshield and your dash because it uses suction cups which have not deteriorated after a year of usage. pretty much the best magnetic mount in australia you can find.
