The only way to speed this up is to take you card out and connect it to an SD reader in your PC, therefore bypassing your phone. I'm hoping EASY UMS will be modded to work with the note at some point, this will enable mass storage mode which is faster as well as better generally, samsung dropped the ball when they removed support for this.

i had that in mind but was scared that if i take out the sd card it will mess it up meaning i wont have 64gb internal storage correct me if im wrong

Mounting External SD via USB

When I connect to my Windows 7 64 machine, my internal SD shows up so does my external, however the external says insert disk. Is there a solution for this?

when you plug your phone into your computer. the prompt comes up on your phones screen are u selecting mount usb storage on your phone?
I have a pre-release version and the build that was on it had some wonky driver or something - the SD card reader didn't work at all and I would get that same message when I plugged it in. A few weeks before the phone went retail they sent out an update that only changed 1 file and BOOM, it works now.
What is your build number?

Yes. Getting two drive letters but the external 32GB content is not showing up.

Try puting outing your micro sd in a sd card adapter and see if your coomputer will read it. Possibly damaged sd card
Had me concerned, followed your suggestion, since I moved directly from captivate into skyrocket. The minute I put in adapter computer read with no issues. Only thing I see is less than 10% available

Mine actually did this earlier .....wouldnt read my sd card on my phone. I put in a different one it read it. Took it out and put the origional one in again and it read it again . So try that

Either you have done something to the phone or you have a defective unit. When you connect by USB, the connection notification would ask you if you want to connect your internal storage or not. If you choose to do so, then you will bet autoplay for two disks. So, if you install a weird built, you may just want to return to the original condition and move on from there.
The phone itself reads the card, its when I connect to my laptop that the contents of that card do not show up. It says insert drive. Shows drive letter, but thinks there's no media

if you use the stock Mount USB, from the status drop down, it should work
if not, then you might want to format your SD card to make it readable
if you use 3rd party Dual Mount or any USB mount widget, you will get the scenario you described in the opening message
Where's my storage??
I am seriously confused. I recently tried to install a 64 GB micro sd in my Skyrocket. When I pout it in the phone said it needed to be formatted. So, I let it format. Then, if I would go to settings it would show a slightly less than 60 GB external storage card was mounted. So when I tried to use file manager or link2sd, I don't see anything that looks like a 60 GB resource. So after much futzing around I removed it and installed a 32 GB microsd. Settings sees it as slightly less than a 30 GB sd card. Again, file manager and link2sd show nothing close to this. In fact, if I go to storage info in link2sd, it says the SD card has a total of 11.25GB, of which 11.2 GB is free. So, how do I straighten this out so I can use the full amount of my micro sd card for storing mp3 content?

Is this class 10? These are common symptoms with SOME manufacturer's of class 10 cards.
In this post, patriot acknowledges minor issues on class 10:

"We have found that there is an industry wide compatibility problem with the new Android based and Windows 7 phones working with 32GB class 10 micro SD cards. We have seen issues with the Samsung Focus, Motorola Driod/X, HTC Evo 4g. We are currently working on a solution for this compatibility issue. Google and Microsoft have stated that there are known compatibility issues with 32GB class 10 micro SD cards and are working on a solution as well.
We have found a fix that works in many cases, where you format the card in a Windows based PC, with FAT32, allocation size 32kb, and full format. This is not an official fix, but troubleshooting steps that has worked in many cases, we are still working on a permanent solution for this issue."
TomTommy, regardless of the date of the post prior to mine, I still have the issue. I see nothing in the thread that resolves my issue, but the thread appears to revolve around a part of my issue. So, here I am. Do you think I might find an answer to my issue in another thread?

1. Be nice
2. What he is saying is that thread died that long ago for a reason likely your answers lie somewhere within another thread perhaps Tom is a reputable and generally helpful figure here and really deserves a level of respect but I understand his response seemed harsh

Chappatti, my card is class 6, not class 10. IN any case, I have tried formatting it in a Windows PC to the size it is supposed to be, but the results are the same. The settings measurment of the card shows the right value, but when I try to browse using link2sd or file manager I get the goofy readings.

[Q] USB Mass Storage Won't Register

When I connect my phone to my PC (Windows 7 Home Premium) i get the notification for how to connect. but choose USB Mass Storage, it will not connect. sometimes if I wait a minute or so it will, an occasionally it will just work. Sometimes it will also work if I chose windows media sync and them explore on my computer, but not always. This is driving me insane since it won't do anything consistently. The problem started a while ago. Not sure If I had rooted yet at that point, but I was on a stock rom. Currently running Supercharged V5. any help would be greatly appreciated
If you have any apps stored on your SD card, it can mess it up. I had bootstrap stored on mine and was having similar problems, removing the apps should solve the prob.
No Apps on SD Card
Don't think that's the problem. I keep all apps on my phone because there is more than enough space and my SD card is full of music. it is a fairly low quality card though. Could that be the problem? I'm not exactly sure what class, but it was super cheap
I heard of class 10 SD cards having trouble, I have Samsung class 6 in mine and it is working fine.

[Q] Help with Camera App and Sd Card problem, please!

Hi,
I recently bought my first smartphone: an NGM Endurance running on 4.4.2 (KitKat) with 1GB ram and 8GB storage.
Without an SD card fitted, the Camera App takes, stores, and replays Full HD videos @ 30fps with no problem at all.
When I fitted a Class 10, "SanDisk Extreme PLUS 32 GB microSDHC Memory Card" (from Amazon) the following problem appeared:
Most of the time when I switch the phone on, or wake it from sleep, and then try to take a video I usually get a, "Low Memory, Auto Change Quality" message.
The video is about half its normal size (approx 20MB for 20 secs), is stored on the SD card (but takes 40+ secs to do so!), and plays back OK.
Subsequent videos taken immediately after are about 40MB and no warning message appears (they also take only a second or two to save).
I did a factory reset via the Settings menu and it's made no difference except I don't always get the, "Low Memory..." message now.
The problem isn't entirely consistent because I think that on rare occasions a first 20 sec video has gone OK only for the problem to appear in the next.
I have a PhD in Breaking Things and would welcome any help or advice (rather than my blundering around and poking things with little idea of what I'm doing).

I tried another 32GB card with the same results.
I then tried two 2GB cards from voice recorders and they work OK!
A SD card tester app gave read and write speeds for the 2GB cards as approximately 10 Mb/s for both read and write.
I've just run the app on one of the 32GB cards and the read/write speeds are 7.42/1.99 Mb/s (!)
Am totally baffled and haven't a clue in which direction to look for a solution - help, please!

Your device may not be recognizing the new SD cards and saving the images to the internal storage (this phone has very little internal storage) I would make sure to back up anything on the SD card and reformat it via pc.

Thank you for your reply, shel692
The phone appears to recognize all the sd cards I've tried because:
a) There are no error messages
and
b) Once installed, all photos and videos are saved to the sd card instead of phone memory
Unfortunately, my camera app doesn't allow me to choose where the photos/videos are stored else I'ld save them to phone and transfer over if necessary.
Although a relatively unknown model, quite a number of NGM Endurance's have been sold in the UK (and throughout Europe - the manufacturer is Italian) but no-one else has reported this problem (yet!)

My S7 has started loading albums and images super slow! Otherwise performance is fine

Hi folks.
I have a totally stock phone and I have been running a san disk 128gb micro sd.
I pretty much put all my media on the ext sd and therefore have lots of memory on the phone itself. I am using about about 30gb out of the 128bg.
Anyway recently my phone is struggling to load images and gets stuck, videos are stopping sometimes. I removed the sd and did a factory reset to no avail. My next move is to format the sd but I dont want to do that because all my pictures are on it and I have no way of transferring them to my laptop.
Anyone can help?
Sounds pretty likely that the problem is with the MicroSD card
Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop using the USB charging lead, scan for errors on the card, if that doesn't help, copy the files to your machine, format to FAT32 and copy everything back to it

Adoptable storage, missing external SD card, double internal card in Windows

I can't seem to find this exact problem anywhere, so forgive me if its been posted somewhere already.
I used MoDaCo's method to enable adoptable storage quite some time ago. I partitioned my
SD card into 2 volumes and kept one as an external SD card and one for the adoptable storage.
Initially, when I would plug my phone into my Windows pc, it would recognize both an internal and external card. Now, it does not. I *think* the change may have happened around the same time I upgraded to nougat.
Currently the phone seems to recognize both partitions - in fact the camera defaults to putting new photos on the external partition. When I go to Settings> Device Maintenance > Storage it lists :
53.5GB / 64 GB for the internal and an "SD Card" with 12.6GB / 23.4 GB.
ES File Explorer lists:
Internal Storage - 19/34 GB
External Storage - 12/23 GB
However, when I plug it into my PC, it shows my device, i double click on my device and it shows 2 hard drives, both with the same size. And if you click on either, you access the exact same files - which are internal files.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks!
I have attached a couple of screenshots from the PC and the phone in case it helps clear up my less than clear explanation. Thanks again.
Since it looks like this is some odd twist of fate that has bitten me in the ass - I have a followup question. If I turn off my phone, remove the flash drive, and put it into a PC machine will everything be ok or will I wind up crying myself to sleep at night? In other words, since there are 2 partitions (the encrypted, adoptable storage one and the normal external sd card one), windows should ignore the encrypted and just see the external SD one right? If I do this, windows isn't going to freak at the encryption and jack something up is it? I would rather not have to reinstall all the apps I have on the card.
Thanks again in advance.
