Though the specs maybe good. The feel of the phone is cheap. My brother was tempted to buy it. He got a chance to try it as a friend of his had bought it. He didn't like it at all. So if you are thinking of changing your phone, I would advise not to take that phone.

Yes i agree that we are very near to Kernel 3.0, But u wont believe I had a hands on of my friend's A110. Its super smooth and awesome.
I was amazed. i am getting a reseel value of my i9003 as 9500 and same amount is waht I have to pay for Canvas-2.
Screen , sound, and Dual Core-1 Gh Processor with 4.0.4
In a big big big confusion.

umm Getting more confused now.
See, what I have thought in deciding to buy it that My handset is a year old right now, out of warranty as well. And I am getting 9500 for it now. Later it wont be giving me 9500.
Anyhow, in A110 Screen is as good as in i9003 and its huge 5" screen. Sound is amazing and Its a dual Core 1GH phone. And in 9500 as well. ICS 4.0.4
Thought in same price without any extra expense I am getting all this.

Normally when you are getting something good at a low price, there's always a catch...
My phone is around 1 year and around 7 months old.
And everything is properly functioning.
What resale value can i expect.
Not so prominent bumps on my device as well.
Using screen guard since day 1.

@Shail ... There's a saying "Mehenga ek baar roye, sastaa baar baar roye". Rough english translation "If you buy a expensive product, you'll be crying just once, but if you buy a cheap product, you'll be crying more often".
On micromax, i feel they make kinda good phones, but lacks developer support. As far as i know you, i'm sure you're are flashoholic like me and will miss new roms that you can only find with mainstream phones.
Again, I did buy and try a lot of micromax(a61 a45)/zte(dont remember model name)/spice(mi280 and the new ones etc) phones for my staff, but personally use only Nokia or Sammy hardwares only. These budget phones get unexplained heavy lag after few months of usage. Maybe cheap hardware or bad os development from their engineers.
End Note: Keep your SL. We're in for good times, and after being patient for so long we cannot afford to lose a good user like you. If you want buy the micromax phone, and after couple months if you still think its better than SL, get rid of the SL. I'm sure latter wont happen.

not worth, its only a cheap china phone, cooked on mk6577.
first off all - warrianty. will you get fully supported and fully covered?
2. accesories. extra, extended batterie? covers? will you get them, if you need of course
3. dev support. it highly cutted ICS, so if you going to get some other roms - forget it. not mention about miui, aokp, themes, etc.
4. build quility. are you getting same as everyday brand? net mention of extra parts, like digitalizers, screens, oards, cameras, speakers
5. if you still thinkin goin cheap - buy smth like this
will save some extra dollars.
6. value. just think, what selling price would be after a year? 10%, less?
good luck

You Guys are making me very confused and even emotional too.......Actually I too love my phone yar....!!
Need to think again I guess.
All they said are so true. I was tempted to get a nexus, almost bought it. Then the news about kernel 3 made me hesitate. I took some time to think, I increased my research on that phone especially about the negative side, to not get blinded by the awesome specs and awfully low price. Suddenly I saw a HUGE downside of that phone.
Wow, I could have wasted on that fragile phone instead of my SL.
So, now I'm proud of my current phone. My first ever Android phone.
Oh I remember the first time using Odin, flashing XXLE4 firmware on my phone....

Do NOT take the Micromax Canvas 2. It has a ****ty MTK processor. I had a MTK6516 based phone that was absolutely horrible. Games wouldn't play properly and would have distorted color, slow poor performance. It couldn't even play music without skipping. It was also marketed as dual-core but it isn't.
As the Micromax Canvas 2 also has an MTK processor, it might also have a "fake" dual-core.
The Radio/Modem CPU is an ARM7, probably an ARMv3 or v4.
Often advertised as dual core, but this is misleading, the 2nd core runs the radio and will not be usable for applications. In fact, any proper smartphone has a separate smaller core for the GSM radio, so real dual core phones in fact have 3 cores

You might want to do some research on the exact MTK processor in the Canvas 2, maybe it doesn't have these problems.

dont go for it
Dont go for it son.
Its cheap but inviting trouble just like wife. (Worries Invited for ever).
But you can keeeep it separately if u wanna.
of course I dont deny that i9003 is equal as well.
But Wait for our devs. Its a humble respect we ought to give them.

Hey...well im Egyptian too. good to see u here, this phone is great, only few unfortunate customers got buggy devices, just make ur mind up, if u want better looks and camera go for neo v . im using this phone from around 6 months and i have no problem till yet...and im happy with it, only problem is the battery drain...Salaam
gt i9003 is a mid to high end phone with a good price tag (costs a bit less than galaxy ace in some stores!) and it a good phone for normal everday usage. The battery life is great, the battery can last for 3 days if you are normal user, mine is celebrating its 4th day
Its very worth its price, only if you are unfortunate and get a buggy device. Normally 1 change of the motherboard and it'll be alright
Cheers

This phone is definitely worth buying especially now our development community has grown so much recently
i recommend the 9000
it has a much bigger community and therefore more roms
from what i heard a working ics rom too
depends on the price you pay!
If its under 300 US$ (without contract, of course), its worth every penny!
If its above this pricetag, i wouldnt bother with it since its a rather old device with not much developer support

well we can't say that its grown bec. dev's come and go mainly bec. not much people have this device compared to the galaxy S and S2 but there is progress on custom roms on this device. But it all goes down to how much you want to pay. For me it's definitely worth every damn cent.

I think it´s a great phone to buy.
It works well, I like the battery capacitiy (mine lasts between 1,5 or 2 days.), you can install lots of roms and updates easily.
Its a pretty good phone , good for the price too. i bought it to get into Android and i fell in love with the OS , i always hated Apple and their products so Android came to the rescue.. Samsung support for this model however sucks but the community is always building custom roms and fixing things up so its pretty well worth it..

I would have offered u my phone which is 1.4 yrs old but still in excellent condition. But I can't because of some personal reasons.
Bro don't buy this phone if you already had it go switch it up or something get a second hand nexus like someone else said or a second hand s2 trust me it's screen is amazing I would rather go with S2's screen then S3's higher resolution screen. S2's screen is amazingly clear, great color, truly vibrant color.

And an amazing burn in effect after 2 months of use.
Just get the nexus/S3 or just this device.. depends on your wallet.
Just saying, you'll probably find no one willing to sell you a device here, because the chance of being in the same place is slim, thus requiring annoying shipping costs and hassle, buying/selling a used one from shops is easier.
MY OPINION: If you can get the nexus/S3 used or new, get them and DO NOT ever think about this damned device again.
Come on guys. This phone isn't that bad. I don't see a need to be so negative about this phone.
I don't have any major issues with this phone. It worked very well for me on almost all ROMs that I've tried.
Of course this phone is not i9000 or i9100. And we all knew it when we bought it substantially cheaper than those models. Stop complaining and enjoy the moment (partially working video recording with CM9)

Everytime i update my SCL i feel like i bought i new phone! ICS works pretty good and day after day it becames always better and if understood correctly Dhiru is porting JB, so it' not over
Our phone us not that much bad in my opinion
i think our phone is better than i9000 expect gpu and development. if i9003 was an international model instead of i9000 we could have better roms STABLE including JB with much more developers. but just gpu is lower a bit.

It looks really good. I have held off on getting a new phone since my contract expired as there is nothing out there that does everything I want, but this might just be the phone for me.
Quad-Core, large screen (+ high resolution), Add-on Micro SD-Card slot, looks like removable battery as well, so can upgrade to the 3000mAh one for longer life.
There has to be a catch somewhere ...

Not only removable but from the article I read this morning the 3000mAh is going to cost you a whole 2mm in thickness.
This phone looks amazing, can't wait to see if it's obtainable in the US and if it gets any momentum going. I'd expect a lot of prepaid folks to give this a hard look for what looks to be the best bang for your buck ever.

Hate to say it but this phone will not get a big following anywhere outside of china for many reasons. Some being that these types of china knock offs tend not to have the hardware that is advertised, no real warranty outside of china, and normally don't run official android builds, nor have access to the market due to Google and china issues.
Might not be bad if they could get their act together but I don't see iit happening

Well china does have copyright laws. It's either just not enforced at all or it favors companies in the country.
Also as a reply to your previous post, this company is supported by Qualcomm directly (or at least so I read on Engadget). And since it is running MIUI, it also has full access to the Play Store and will get updates since it just updates whenever MIUI gets updated. Warranty probably won't work but I tend to try to not damage my products and keep them safe. If there are manufacturing issues, well that's my fault for not researching the product more before I bought it.
Sent from my Incredible S using Tapatalk 2
Just because it has MIUI (which is not something I would brag about lol) doesn't mean it will have the market. If it looks good to you then by all means give it a shot. Good luck just don't expect it to find a home here.

*sigh, you definitely haven't used MIUI, or any product by Xiaomi. They are TRUSTED. Go ask those who uses the Mi-One, they are the most satisfied bunch of all smartphone Enthusiasts. Why? They don't get updates not every six months, but every Friday! And trust me, they DID NOT make up the hardware specs. Its either that you're racists towards Chinese companies, or just a unlucky customer who bought a fake product.
Xxx oops! accidentally beamed from my awesome NEXUS S! xxX
First off I am not racist to anything at all. I give everyone a fair shake. As for MIUI your right I have never used it and never will. I don't support what they did.
As for the hardware specs I am not aging they made them up. Just stating what many have seen with buying knock off devices. If this device hardware is legit cool and I am sure people will be happy with it.

Xiaomi MI-2 - kind of future for Android Smartphones- ...
All the hardware of the Xiaomi MI-2 is surprising, especially for the 1999 Yuan chinese price...
For sure, the lack of a memory card slot is annoying, but it is the choice of Google too, inside all the Nexus models.
Now if people could write an authentic JB ROM in order to replace the miui "iOS like" ROM, and if the international price could be really low, I would be inclined to replace my Nexus
Xiaomi 2
Xiaomi 2 is nice between my and my girl we have the last two previous models....her service provider in china will give the phone free when she signs a new contract and I will be trading her a JM phone for it.

Okay I hope I am allowed to post this in general, and I hope no one gets offended by anyway lol
I am going off to college (UCSD) this fall. I am considering buying an iPhone just for the fact that I want a completely functioning phone as my daily driver and I don't want to find myself trying to solve issues during school.
I am asking for some opinion.
I love android and flashing, but I find myself using a lot of time doing so, I dont want to do this and get distracted while I dorm in college and have other things to worry about.
I guess my question is, should I consider a new iPhone, or are the new phones like the s4 just as reliable? I know I'm going to get a variation of opinions, but that's what I want I really cannot make up my mind lol.
It just seems to me that all the apps are more reliable to use on an iPhone since they are developed for that specific device etc.
Thanks in advance for your opinion

the iPhone 5 is great device if you find one on a good price... has LTE for T-Mobile...
the only drawback si the there will b a new iPhome comming out in the nexts 3 month, so if you buy it brand new on a full price, you will lose bout $300 in value by that time...
might consider finding one on craigslis for $400sh, but be carefull, as i just got burned w a lemon last week...
bought a NOTE 2 for $360... used it for 4-5 days and got reported stolen... no service...
going to sell it for $300sh now for use on another Network, and take the loss...

Have you considered running just stock on the blaze? If you want real, real stable/reliable, stock is the way to go for this phone. No need to troubleshoot issues, wipe davlik, catlog and that kind of stuff. This also applies to all smartphones. Part of flashing a non-stock rom is assuming that nothing is ever 100% stable, but can be sometimes. Most roms are 99% stable, but it seems to be that the time you REALLY need your phone for something you discover that 1% bug
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see what Thomas will bring with all his hard work on CM 10.1. But I just haven't ever been happy with standby battery life on CM10/CM10 based roms. That and wifi calling is a must in my basement (where my home office is).
Back on topic... regardless which device you get running stock will ensure 100% stability, that or running a stock themed/debloated/deodexed rom is also a safe way to go. Not to knock iPhones (they aren't that bad), but my father in law seemed to always be having issues with his iPhone 4. He kept losing his contacts. He just got a 5 a few days ago so I don't know how that will fare... I personally have over $100 in apps from the play store, and I don't want to have to buy apps all over again... soo.... My next phone will be a nexus 5 (got 4 bills saved already!) :good::victory: Just a few months to wait!
So yeah, I would recommend a nexus 5. Just wait 2 1/2 more months... rumors have it dropping in October. Current rumors have it with a snapdragon 800 (double the graphics perf from the 600 and modest clock bump), and a Nikon camera... drool....
yeah im looking to buy a Nexus 5 aswell, but i dont think it will have the latest procesor
its a mid tier phone, i personaly will be just happy w a LTE chip and timely updates...
whatever else they can cramp over my expectations its a plus
PS the Note 3 will be a beast... rumored to have the new flexible displays that you can not break and that latest procesor w 3GB RAM and LTE-A ...

the Moto seems like a good phone too, something to consider, especialy if they stuff a 4,000mAh battery as the rumors go... cant wait forthe release...
Do all phones start dying after a year? It seems like most products these days are made to break down so that you have to buy a new one. Are phones any exception? Most people get new phones every 1-2 years. So manufacturers probably just build them to last that long at most. I got my razr maxx a year ago. And out of the box, it was very fast and responsive. It stayed that way for a while. But recently, a year later, it is becoming laggy and unresponsive. Many apps freeze and force close. Including the home screen! I'm not a heavy user and don't have a lot of apps or media stored on the device. I regularly reboot, delete old messages and clear app cache. I've read other reviews of the maxx that say the same thing about a year after purchasing. But I'm wondering if this is an issue with certain phones, or most phones. My girlfriend and I are getting ready to drop $500 on a note 3 and s4, and for that much money, I want to make sure they will both be good devices 2 years from now, at least.

yes i believe so
Well of course they do. Just like every piece of technology seems to do these days.
This was meant as a joke, picking on the mass number of android phones being released every year, and the pressure to have the latest and greatest at all times. A great example extended use from a piece of technology would be the xbox360 and ps3.

well i disagree with that.. it might depend on proper usage and how you maintain your unit.. will surely last longer than 2 years or more..
and also as android users.. software developments makes ur 5 year old phone model rise from the grave! if you know what i mean.
I would have to disagree, I have used my Galaxy SL for two years and is still functional now. off course there are major differences now and it might seem like crap after experiencing the newer phones and the higher requirements of games and apps but for it's specs i do think it's still in good shape. It just depends on proper handling and good care of your phone.
yes, depend on usage i believe so
Yeah totally!
The note 3 and s4 seem to be high end devices. Can I expect the same thing to happen to them after a year?

I'm still rockin a galaxy s2. Its not laggy, just need to tweak it properly
yes but if you find the right rom & the kernel, your phone returns to work even better than before
As people said: maintenance is the key!
You are posting this question in a community build around the idea of changing things. Just read into some threads and maybe try to flash another rom?
I am still using my s2 after 2 years and am not planing to change this until it dies. Running the newest android and flashed another kernel and that thing is running way smoother as ever!
Not really
