Windows 7 RUU - how to get it working

Simple really.
When it fails search for instructions on how to get it working with Vista - I never had a problem with Vista myself but upgrading to Windows 7 it just failed so I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001
and followed the instructions there.
I was trying it out omn my Universal as I don't use it now so it didn't matter - but now I have a shiny new ROM on it I might just start using it again
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
RUU's were crashing for me just at the PDA detection stage.
I tried custom compatibility settings for the RUU:
Run this program as administrator
Disable Visual Themes
Disable Desktop Compisition
Run in Windows XP SP2 Compatibility Mode
These should work with Win 7 x64 however you may need to apply these settings to the other executable files in the RUU folder (EnterBootLoader and RUUGetInfo).
Thanks. It seems as that worked. I also had to switch usb ports.

In download mode or usb debugging?
In download mode I thought you needed Odin.
1. you need samsung galaxy s drivers
64-bit OS http://firon.net/xda/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
32-bit OS http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/attachmen...bile_driver_v1.3.800_for_sph-d700_epic_4g.zip

Unbrick your NEXTBOOK 7 PREMIUM

Ok, just bricked my Nextbook 7
Here is how I flashed a firmware without access to recovery:
If you are in a bootloop, Connect USB and Power.
Press and hold pin on back until you hear windows try to detect a device but the screen is off.
Download this: http://arctablet.com/assets/tools/Firmware/Rockchip_CPU_based/Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.4.zip
Install the driver from the drivers folder.
3. Installing the drivers on the computer
Following the tablet entering in recovery mode, the computer should now show it has found a new USB device and prompt for a device driver. Select the appropriate driver in the driver directory from the Rockchip Flash Tool 1.4 package.
It will then install the driver for RK29 Device
4. Sending the firmware to the tablet
The flashing tool should display a green square around the number 1 in the lower left area of the Windows application.
Select the firmware file to flash using the button in the top right area of the application. Select the update.img file from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/NQHSNZJSO2
Then push the Upgrade button to transfer the selected firmware to the tablet.
The firmware will be copied to the tablet, a progression counter will go from 0% to 100% on this step, followed by a verification.
You are done, let the tablet reboot and update itself. It should take a few minutes for the flash process to finish.
This procedure has been successfully tested on Windows XP 32 bits for flashing a bricked NextBook 7 Premium YF1011 (but should work on others)
Hi, the multiupload link seems down, would it be possible to re-up? thanks!
And how exactly are you supposed to install the drivers from the driver folder? Because those are not Runable files, theyre drivers, with no install command. So, my daughters nextbook is bricked, wont install drivers(says not successfully installed after i plug it in) and there is no way to install the drivers from the batch file. Anything you left out??? Id like to unbrick this thing. Thanks..
SOLVED
I found out how to install the drivers on windows 7!
Follow this:
click the start button > type in the search box right above the start button "device manager"
(make sure the tablet is plugged in and in USB MODE)
right click the tablet or unknown device
select install/update driver manually
browse for the driver in the download folder then it should be updated
worked for me.
Nextbook 8 stuck in bootloop
I am a noob. My Nextbook 8 is stuck in bootloop, the last app i downloaded was firefox. Ive read that this can be fixed by starting safe mode and doing a factory reset, how do i do this?!? Im desperate, and would greatly appreciate any help that works, thanks.

ODIN stuck at "SetupConnection.."

I posted this in the Rooting thread, but figured it may be a more general questions other may have experienced.
I'm trying to root my GT-N8010 via the CM method. No matter what I do, Odin sits at "SetupConnection" and won't proceed. I tried:
- killing Kies via the task manager
- uninstalling Kies and using the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones included in the OP link
- rebooting my PC
- using different USB ports on my PC
- running Odin as administrator
- moving Odin and the HighOnAndroidCWMRecoveryGTN8000.tar file to the root of my C-drive, to ensure there wasn't a folder path issue
When I boot my Note 10.1 to Odin Mode and plug it into my PC, Windows states the drivers were installed and my device is ready. I have no idea what else to try.
For reference, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, fully up-to-date, and using the default Odin 1.85 that's included with the root package. I haven't tried a different PC, but I'd really prefer to do this on my home desktop.
Any other suggestions?
OK. Got it to work. Here's what I did:
- plugged the tablet into the first USB port on my motherboard (port 0)
- placed both the Odin folder and the HighOnAndroidCWMRecoveryGTN8000.tar file in a folder on the root of my C-drive, with a simple folder name ("root")
- when I ran Odin, I un-checked "Auto Reboot"
And that worked.

[Q] Proper Uninstall of USB Drivers for Heimdall Recognition

Hello all.
Heimdall won't recognize my phone. I've uninstalled and reinstalled USB drivers through Add/Remove programs. I've uninstalled the Samsung Composite Drivers through Device Manager and when I put the phone in Download Mode it reinstalled the drivers, but Heimdall still doesn't recognize my phone.
Odin recognizes my phone right away.
I've read that Odin and Heimdall don't play very well together. How do I properly uninstall the USB drivers to clear the "reservation" by Odin so Heimdall could recognize my phone.
I plugged my phone on my wife's computer and Heimdall recognized it even without USB drivers installed!! So I was able to flash Heimdall on my wife's computer.... So obviously it's an Odin/Heimdall conflict problem.
Help plz thank you
un-install Odin or the likes exist
use CCleaner to clean: Cleaner and Registry
reboot computer
re-install driver
reboot computer
Heimdall
Odin was just in the folder, I don't recall ever installing it, it's just an executable file that I ran. All the other steps I have done.
