Hello all.
Heimdall won't recognize my phone. I've uninstalled and reinstalled USB drivers through Add/Remove programs. I've uninstalled the Samsung Composite Drivers through Device Manager and when I put the phone in Download Mode it reinstalled the drivers, but Heimdall still doesn't recognize my phone.
Odin recognizes my phone right away.
I've read that Odin and Heimdall don't play very well together. How do I properly uninstall the USB drivers to clear the "reservation" by Odin so Heimdall could recognize my phone.
I plugged my phone on my wife's computer and Heimdall recognized it even without USB drivers installed!! So I was able to flash Heimdall on my wife's computer.... So obviously it's an Odin/Heimdall conflict problem.
Help plz thank you
un-install Odin or the likes exist
use CCleaner to clean: Cleaner and Registry
reboot computer
re-install driver
reboot computer
Heimdall
Odin was just in the folder, I don't recall ever installing it, it's just an executable file that I ran. All the other steps I have done.

Good question. I am having a very hard time getting any other tool )"Driod Explorer" and "SuperoneClick") to see my phone. Kies sees if I install the drivers off of the Samsung site but I have to sacrifice the "Mass Strage Device" drivers. I have never in my life had so much trouble installing drivers for any device EVER.
Grab the drivers from the op if this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
Never given me an issue. Shouldn't have to do it manually just click it and it should install all of the drivers.
Also for you @tolls101 uninstall the kies drivers, reboot, then install those.
I figured it out!
I'm having trouble getting my computer to recognize my phone as an ADB device. I have an HTC EVO, running cyanogen 6.1. I've downloaded the android SDK, as well as several of the SDK components (Google-usb-driver, platform-tools, and several APIs).
When I plug in my phone, my computer would not recognize it as an ADB device, so i removed the drivers from my computer and tried again. I attempted to manually install the drivers from the file (C:\android-sdk-windows\google-usb_driver) with no luck. I tried going into the amd64 file (I'm running windows 7, 64bit), but my computer would not recognize the drivers.
I'm new to all of this (this is my first post)- any and all help would be greatly appreciated
I am having the same problem with a HTC Hero (Sprint) tried everything but i can't get my pc to regocnize the adb driver
same thing with stratosphere.
I have the same problem with an unrooted samsung stratosphere. I need to install the adb drivers to use the smartdog remote web desktop through usb. The samsung usb drivers are already installed so it won't let me install the adb drivers. What can I do?
Funny I thought I was having problems with ADB cuz I'm on a Mac but it appears you Windows catz are SOL too...WTF is up with ADB not recognizing devices? Somebody should have a fix or some info on this, so frustrating, I just wanna root my damn devices!
had the same issue. here what I did and it worked:
- go to junefabric dot com
- download and install PDANet( 'cause it got adb usb driver in it)
- uninstall PDANet( if you have no use of it. don't worry, adb usb driver doesn't uninstall)
Hey everyone, so for some reason, when i connect my defy via usb, and i open adb and do adb devices, it says device offline, i installed the drivers, but windows also installed some drivers, and so i cant root my phone now. how do i make it online?
Enable USB Debug on the phone;
disable all drivers that are installed, CCleaner on the micro (clean files & registry)
install drivers and rsd lite with the phone disconnected from usb, restart PC
plug usb and use adb
Just reboot the phone.
usb debugging is on, how do i disable drivers?
Sorry to say "disable", i want to say "uninstall"
Unistall everything from Motorola, clean the windows with CCleaner, then reinstall the drivers.
k i did the ccleaner thing and i rebooted phone, it worked, i rooted it, and restored it thanks!
I posted this in the Rooting thread, but figured it may be a more general questions other may have experienced.
I'm trying to root my GT-N8010 via the CM method. No matter what I do, Odin sits at "SetupConnection" and won't proceed. I tried:
- killing Kies via the task manager
- uninstalling Kies and using the SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones included in the OP link
- rebooting my PC
- using different USB ports on my PC
- running Odin as administrator
- moving Odin and the HighOnAndroidCWMRecoveryGTN8000.tar file to the root of my C-drive, to ensure there wasn't a folder path issue
When I boot my Note 10.1 to Odin Mode and plug it into my PC, Windows states the drivers were installed and my device is ready. I have no idea what else to try.
For reference, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, fully up-to-date, and using the default Odin 1.85 that's included with the root package. I haven't tried a different PC, but I'd really prefer to do this on my home desktop.
Any other suggestions?
OK. Got it to work. Here's what I did:
- plugged the tablet into the first USB port on my motherboard (port 0)
- placed both the Odin folder and the HighOnAndroidCWMRecoveryGTN8000.tar file in a folder on the root of my C-drive, with a simple folder name ("root")
- when I ran Odin, I un-checked "Auto Reboot"
And that worked.
Hi All,
I have a One plus one & using Windows 7 64bit
Since the last few days i have lost USB Transfer between my device and windows and cant transfer anything.
I enabled PTP and checked ADB is working showing my device in the command prompt and fast boot is also detecting my device on the command prompt.
But whenever i enable MTP to transfer files between my PC & Device, it detects my device as MTP USB Device but is unable to install any driver and i get the prompt as Driver installation failed.
Could someone please advise a workaround.
PS: Running stock rooted 44S
Thanks
I would try to uninstall drivers on win7, then connect OPO to pc and see what happens.
You can uninstall drivers on device manager in win7.

You can uninstall drivers on device manager in win7.
Click to collapse
Have done that multiple times, and again installed ADB & Fastboot Drivers which are working fine, but MTP is not working and Windows fails do install MTP drivers, thus i am unable to access the USB storage
Have you tried with another pc?
