[Q] Has Anyone Tried to port Ubuntu on Nexus to GTab2? - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ubuntu for android is under testing and development for nexus is in process. Has anyone tried to play with it yet? Not the chroot build but full featured native ubuntu build. This is the installation guide : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Nexus7/Installation and This is the link to images : http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-preinstalled/current/

This is the dev section! Questions go in the q&a section
Now to answer your question, I don't think anyone has tried to boot it untethered on the tab2 but you can remote Ubuntu on the tab2!

Most anti-productive idea ever!
To further answer, no. I don't believe that is possible.
O then k ... any GOOD step by step guide for dummies , please ?
I would need to that because I would like to make a fully functional simple Apache+PHP+MySQL installation.
Thanks!
Sorry...I'm not really any help here, but here are a few things I have been watching...

You could try searching first before posting threads.....

Thanks meanm50, I kew these programs, but no solution for me.
MemoryController, I have used the search and I'm actually using a Ubuntu image (Apache + PHP painfully installed, I'm with MySQL now) but I didn't found a step-by-step among a lot of post that guides me with libSDL, sorry.
Good luck!
Actually there are threads for both qemu and bochs.

Obviously you can't install android in your laptop like you install Windows. However, to run android on your laptop you get an android dongle.. it's got android built into it.. connect it to your laptop and enjoy android.. but i don't know if they are available at your place..

Contradictory to the above answer, u can install Android on a laptop.
Go to Android-x86.org and download the Asus variant
It may or may not be relevant to you but I strongly recommend you using Virtual Machine Software on your laptop (like VMWARE or VirtualBox) which would give you the two of them at the same time.
Not to mention you don't need to get rid of your Windows too!
THIS LINK shows how to do it in Virtualbox pretty well (sorry, not above 10 posts so just type in "virtualbox android" in youtube and this one will be the first video!)

You can find some on Android Development and Hacking forum. I use QtADB mostly though, because has versions for linux and Windows and it's a File Manager with support of adb. Take a look here:
http://qtadb.wordpress.com/
you can
search on google and get better result
What and get a bunch of YouTube video reviews! Read the answer above, that's what a helpful forum member does. That's the point of a dedicated topic forum, did you stop to think that i may have been googling and researching for weeks and get a bit nonplussed with all the conflicting opinions and techniques, that a dedicated Dev forum would be the place to seek advice?
Really if go google it is the best you can do, why even bother replying, your not talking to a schoolkid but a fellow member of the forum.

Thanks very much I read up on Qtadb and it sounds like just the thing, I run xubuntu on chrome and a windows Laptop and so a dual platform for generic devices would suit me just fine

[Bounty] Ubuntu Mobile on Tab 4 SM-T53X (20€ 28/06)

Hi,
I'm not a Dev but I know there are lot of people interested in modding around Galaxy Tab 4 SM-T53X and other version too.
I decided to create this bounty topic of reliable people who want to donate to a Dev who port Ubuntu mobile on Galaxy Tab 4.
As you know, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 mount a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.2GHz processor and 1.5GB RAM, so able to run Ubuntu Mobile. As You can see on Ubuntu Wiki, Ubuntu for devices is available to Galaxy Tab 7.7 (GT-P6800), Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi (GT-P7510), Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (p3110/p3113), Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GSM (p3100), Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Wifi (P5110)....So please it's time to get it also on Galaxy Tab 4!
Want to partecipate? Write in comment how much you want to donate to any Dev could port Ubuntu Mobile to Tab 4, please write also your model (i.e. SM-T530).
Donations (26/06):
- Me, Maxximo88 20€ (SM-T530)
Total: 20€ (I will update it as soon as possible)
Once Ubuntu Mobile port is completed and posted we will wait for the dev or devs to specify how he/they want the money sent. Usually it is just a donation to their Paypal account or Bitcoin.
Current status:
Tag Developers so they are aware of this.
Ubuntu porting guide here:

Earning money to work on an open source project... Isn't that a paradox?
XDA is community projects where many people make one thing. I don't think your offer has to be considered

Hi, thanks for your reply and to show your point of view.
I just know that lots of Devs works hard and some people uses their works even without click on "Thanks button"..
So, maybe, this could be a new way to pay back the hard work of Devs..
H,
hi, i've been tinkering and failing with ubuntu touch for a bit now
would you be willing to run me through a step by step on the build ?
I guess my main question is, in the build am i only constructing a "base" device specific image and then
dumping in the pre-built system or is there a process for building completely that i'm missing ?
Also how do i generate the correct installation script [rootstock] for my devices ? sm-t530nu sm-t330nu
both are qcom/msm8226 caf-kernel [wifi-only, no fastboot but adb via recovery seems to do]
i attempted modifying a few different script script but the install fails.
Am i following the normal cm11 build pattern from lunch, [mka recoverimage, mka systemimage, etc.,] ?
thanks.

[Completed] Installing a linux distribution on android - Linux deploy not working [Galaxy Tab 2]

I have a galaxy tab 2 running android 5.1.1 (slimrom).
I have been trying to install kali linux on this tablet. It is rooted(of course) and has busybox correctly installed.
Linux deploy doesnt seem to work. I have tried a number of times changing the installation path and other options like components. When i press install i see -
>>install
<<install
When i press satus,
>>status
<<status
The app didnt even ask for root permissions.
Is there any other way i can install kali? Or is there a way to fix this linux deploy app?
I am new to xda.
Thanks in advance.
