Hello, I tried saving a 6gb file to the transformer (internal memory) and got an error message that mentioned the file system. So I assume the internal memory is formatted with fat32 or another file system with a presumably 4gb limitation. Is that correct and if so how does one get around it? Thanks.

You could create a multi-part archive with any major archive type. Zip, 7z, RAR, your choice really. If you need to actually access the file on the tablet then I'm not sure.

Internally, I don't think you can. You may be able to re-partition some space form the internal memory, but I have no idea if that bricks your device or not, so don't do that until someone more experienced tells you it's safe.
This, however, is exactly why the device has a MicroSD slot.

The internal memory is formatted ext4. How did you try saving the file to the TF700, and to which location? Download from the internet? Via mtp? Via adb? More details please.

No, your assumption is really wrong. Since Android 2.3, Google has moved forward with ext4 file system for internal storage, which fully supports file sizes up to 16 TiB, so there is no such thing as 4 GB limit on the tf700 for WINDOWS (fully support MTP). As a matter of fact, most of the movies on my tablets are in the region of 10+ GB.
That 4GB limit only exists for Mac users because Mac OS does not support MTP. If you are using a Mac, the only possible solution that I can think of (beside using Bootcamp to install Windows) is using a microSD card formatted as exFAT, allowing files to be larger than 4 GB.

I also have a 10Gb BR rip sitting on the internal memory of my tf700. Never saw the issue you describe despite copying the movie back to it after resetting it.
It was a downloaded file. Could not save (did not actually even start the download) saying "cannot save file. file system error". Tried with two files above 4 gb, same error, then tried one 2 gb, no problem, hence my assumption. I'll try copying from a pc.thanks for the responses.

I moved mine from a network share. Typically use file manager hd or total commander for the copy process.

Ok, this has me baffled. I posted this in the Sky ICS 4.2E.1 thread, but I'm hoping I get better response here. I can't move or add any files to my 32GB Sandisk ext SD. I also can't remove what's on it. When I connect with USB Storage mode the card shows up as a drive (as well as another for my internal). I can see the contents in the drive. I can drag/drop and copy/paste and the files show up in the ext. drive. But as soon as I disconnect the files are not there. (I checked to be sure I'm moving full files, not creating shortcuts).
I tried mounting and unmounting. I tried to format the card using my SR, but get a message saying "the SD card is currently being checked". It doesn't format. I checked the disk using my PC - it says no errors. I then tried formatting it using my PC. It said it formatted, but as soon as I disconnect and boot into recovery the same files are still there.
I can still access the files stored on it (music files play fine), but can't add or remove anything to or from it. Really a bummer 'cause I want to do some flashing. Any ideas?

You ever put it into a micro SD to SD card adapter
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
No - I have one somewhere. I also have a 4GB micro somewhere. If I can find them I'll try both. I read the SR will accept a 64. If I need to buy a new card that's what I want, but don't want to plunk down $70-80 until I know it's the card

Ok, looks like my SD is bad. Just used a 4GB I had laying around. Inserted into my SR and it works fine. Also used an adapter and plugged the 32 directly into my PC. Can't edit any files.
Very weird that my SR can still read the files that are stored on it. I just can't change the files. Oh well, at least now I have a reason to order that 64 I've been wanting.
just flashed paranoid android 12, while i was doing that i made a backup of my old rom in CWM and it never ended up showing up on my SD card, after flashing my rom i opened up my SD card on my laptop and it seems to be that alot of memory is going to no where.. i highlighted everything in the folder and it says its all about 350mb and all my music is about 300mb. Before i open up the SD card it says that theres 500mb out of 1.8gb free. 1.8gb - 300mb = 1.5gb. Is it the backup that i cant see thats taking up all the memory? if so how would i make it show up? or is it something else?
That is weird normally you should be able to see your backup as a folder. Mine is set under sdcard/clockwordmod/backup and the backup I got is 581mb and is very visible both to es file explorer and to my desktop pc. Something maybe up with your sdcard. I've had invisible files on a knock off 16gb MS Pro that I ordered from china. Fixed it by formatting the memory card a few times with the PC though.

I do use cmw to backup. Also yes, I'm theroy as long as ur sdcard is not totally screwed over by bad blocks or something of that matter.

This is the second time that this has happened. I lost all my video and photo files from my xoom and SD card. Im not sure why. Does anyone know how to get these files back?
Also i noticed that in both times that this happened my SD card had begin to duplicate my files as well. Soon after every folder on my sd card was duplicated 4x all my files was deleted. Now is there anyway to re-acquire these files? PLEASE HELP.
No way that I know of to get them back on the internal, but there are a couple apps that support the external SD. There is no way to recover internal storage because it is a fuse filesystem and nothing supports recovery from it, not even PC applications because it's not mountable as UMS.

Can you recommend an app that worked for you or that you know work for sure?
Never used an android app. But I have successfully used R-Studio which is approximately $80 retail, but works wonders.

so i got my 64GB samsung sd card for my galaxy note 2, and my phone reads it and all, but when i go into CWM recovery it can't be mounted. so i've been searching all over on how to format it to fat32 but kept getting an error with easeUS partition, and a "this drive is too small for fat32 - there must be at least 64 clusters" using the fat32format method.so i tried to format using the option in recovery, the mounts and storage - format /external_sd. after that i checked to see if it would read it and sure enough i could, but when i reboot my phone it says blank sd, and in root explorer it says the file system is read-only. i'm a little brain dead on what to do now since none of the two fat32 formatters worked for me. any solutions?
Use guiformat. Google it.

I've tried that, through the cmd and from the application itself, both gave me the "this drive is too small for fat32 error" that i mentioned in the OP.
I've been starting to look into adding ram to one of my devices by using an sd card. But, can you still use the rest of the sd card as regular storage at the same time? I keep all of my photos on my external, and ringtones, notifications, many things.
I'd love to figure out dedicating part of an sd card as ram, while still using the rest of it as regular storage
I looked around a bit, and I've seen YouTube tutorials about using sd as memory... But none mentioned using as regular storage at the same time.
Anyone more experienced who could share further info would be awesome or if there's some place better I should be reading, feel free to share that link with me too

Still need help with this... As far as my research shows, you can only see your sd card within your phone and can't use an sd card reader with your sd card as windows won't see it.
Is there some way to allow windows to see it as well as having it partitioned for ram??
I'd really really appreciate the help on this!!
If the first partition is fat32/exfat, both android & windows will recognize it. The 2nd partition can be the swap.

Thanks for the reply
I did try that idea, but to put it into the phone, at least the rohesoft test program only saw the partition meant for storage. In this case I used a 16 gig (which is actually about 14 gig), I decided to set aside 2 gig for the swap, but that test program only saw the regular storage partition of about 12 gigs. How would I set it so that the ram program will see the second 2 gig partition as well? I tried them both as fat32, is that a bad plan?
I have a new observation... My phone, running 4.0.4 does not see any swap files. My tablet running 5.1.1 does see swap files, using the exact same sd card. First as fat 32 and tried 2nd as ext4. Is there another option that will work for ice cream sandwich??
I haven't tried it yet but would ICS see ext3 or ext2 better?
Officially can't get my phone to see the other partition at all!! I can get swapper to create a swap file on the *same* partition as I want to use for media only!! I thought the whole point was that only part of your card was dedicated to ram use?
To go into recovery and go into mounts and storage, it shows unmount sdcard, which means it is already currently mounted. That was why I thought maybe my tablet could see a swap partition but my phone could not. That theory is garbage now as they're both mounted. I can't even manually create a swap file on the 2nd partition in my pc cuz the computer won't see it except for in the mini tool !
I'm getting so frustrated. I'm so afraid to do so unpartitioned and run the risk of files like irreplaceable pictures deleting themselves in favor of ram space.
Is this just plain not possible??? Help....
I can't even see the ext3 in es file explorer, or even as a choice to have the roesoft tool manually create/test a swap file there
I'm running out of ideas that I have any clue at all of what to do. Could *really* use the help....
