so i got my 64GB samsung sd card for my galaxy note 2, and my phone reads it and all, but when i go into CWM recovery it can't be mounted. so i've been searching all over on how to format it to fat32 but kept getting an error with easeUS partition, and a "this drive is too small for fat32 - there must be at least 64 clusters" using the fat32format method.so i tried to format using the option in recovery, the mounts and storage - format /external_sd. after that i checked to see if it would read it and sure enough i could, but when i reboot my phone it says blank sd, and in root explorer it says the file system is read-only. i'm a little brain dead on what to do now since none of the two fat32 formatters worked for me. any solutions?
Use guiformat. Google it.

I've tried that, through the cmd and from the application itself, both gave me the "this drive is too small for fat32 error" that i mentioned in the OP.

I noticed not too long ago that when I connected my nexus s to my computer it would show that there is only a total of 14.3 gb of total space available on the SD card when in fact there should be close to 16. Has anybody else experienced this problem? I've tried formatting the SD card and fresh installing everything but nothing has cleared it up. I've done some searching as well and I couldn't find any useful information
Dude, the SD card is partitioned between internal memory and user storage. It also doesn't help that windows and memory makers measure space differently. You're good dude.

Sweet thanks! and now that I was an idiot I formated the SD Card using Disk Utility Mac OS 10.7 and CWM says "Error mounting /sdcard" when I try to install a zip
I'm still able to mount the USB storage to my computer and copy files over but CWM can't access any of the files on my phone. So basically for right now i have a bricked phone
UPDATE:
I may have solved the problem. I just relocked the bootloader and unlocked it again and when I select choose zip from sdcard in CWM 5.5.0.4 it says "no files found" instead of can't mount sdcard. I'm going to copy files back over to the phone and see if I can flash the rom I was on and get back up and running.
Let us know what happens! Hope you get it fixed.

Yeah it turns out locking the bootloader and then unlocking it again got it all sorted out. Back up and running and everything is working great
Sweet! Glad you got it worked out.

I've been trying to use link2SD to move apps to SD card. The SD is partitioned into Fat32 and ext02. However, when I try to select either fat32 or ext02 I recieve the following message: mount script cannot be created - mount : invalid argument. What can I do?

This does not work on ICS and the question would be why would you want to? Plenty of internal memory which is much faster and bug free. App2SD is outdated for old phones that had very small shared memory.
I'm using JB. I only have 500 MB available in internal storage, so i cant install the best games.

Hi,
I have formatted my sandisk 16gb microsd card multiple times via my pc(windows xp), my phone(samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket), sdformatter and hp usb disk format tool. All these programs say the format was successful but my music and picture files are still showing up on my phone. I also tried a factory reset on the phone but that only removed the files in the internal storage.
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I tried searching for threads with a similar issue but I was unable to find one.
Thanks
Does the card show 16gb of capacity after formatting? If so, fill that with generic files & see what the phone reads.

It's a 16gb card but when I attempt to format the card it shows up as a 14.8gb card. I connected my phone to my computer and drropped a generic file onto the sd card but the file does not show up on the phone when I disconnect it from my computer. I reconnected the phone to the computer and the generic files is still missing.

Yes they are on the external. I opened the MyFiles app, looked under extSdCard and it shows all the music and picture files. I tried deleting all the files in the exSdCard folder but they all reappear when I restart the phone. I also tried deleting them from my computer but they all reappear after the phone re-scans the sd card.
You're putting it on the wrong card

Hello everyone. I recently underwent a forced upgrade to an LG Optimus F3 after my Kyocera Rise almost started a house fire. I am trying to get all my apps on the thing and everything has gone smoothly. However when I tried to install FIFA 14, which is a large app, I receive an error message.
i imgur com/xhlUueG.png
This is baffling, since I have over 25 GB of space remaining on the card.
i imgur com/QVHmmF9.png
Any advice on how to resolve this problem would be appreciated.
Things that may be ****ing stuff up:
-I literally took the SD card straight from the other phone and put it in this one.
-I have been installing a lot of stuff today.
-I don't really know what else.
Do you have Lucky Patcher installed on you're phone..?
If you do, stop it from running and wipe LP cache... And try again...

No, I do not. Would you recommend I install it?
I thought the problem might be coming from the fact that the SD card was used in another phone. So I used the Erase all Data option in Settings > Storage, but the problem persists.
Can anyone help, or do you need more info?
Maybe I need to format the card another way?
And pardon the double post, but here's another screenshot, this time of ES File Explorer.

Is it normal for there to be two directories there?

I could really use some help figuring this out. I used Aparted to delete the partition and create a new one but still no change. Is there anywhere else or some other subforum where I should be posting this, or is there a way for me to figure this out on my own?
Does your phone detects your SD card or are you able to move apps to SD card???

Well, it shows my SD cards under Settings > Storage, but I'm not seeing an option to move apps to SD on the app menus.
I also hard reset my device, but apparently the problem still persists. When I get home imma try the other SD card and see if there's a change.
No change with the other SD card, so it must be a phone error. Any ideas?

Is your phone currently rooted??? And Aparted is an awesome software. your not using the android app to partition the sd when a pc should be used to partition the sd with a micro reader???

Yes, I just rooted my phone. However, the problem persists, and I still don't have the option to move apps to SD card. I'm not sure what you're getting at in the second sentence though, sorry.
Okay what I mean by the second sentence is that Aparted is available for pc and as apk for android, which one did you use??? And when you partitioned the sd card what format did you use NTFS, FAT32, FAT16 etc.... and also did you wipe the sd prior to formatting it???

I used the android one, a fat32 format, and yes.
Okay, basically what I think is going on is that my phone just doesn't support apps on SD card. Something about the way my filesystem emulates an SD card or something, so it's not a capability I can just unlock from the phone. Anyway, I've been able to sort of work around the problem by using link2SD with an aparted partition, which looks like it's working perfectly, as far as it goes. If anyone else runs into a problem like this and finds a better solution please let me know!
Thanks for all the suggestions.
Awesome, and link2sd is one of best app2sd apks available....cheers man

What phone do you have?
Is it rooted? (you could reformat it thru recovery if it is)
Does the computer recognize it when you plug it in?

Please confirm that you had done an "eject" SD card from the MAC to unmount the SD card properly. This is the same as "Safe to Remove Hardware" for Windows. If not ejected (unmounted) properly, the next time you use it on another device, it may not be recognisable. If this is the case, simply insert the SD card back to the MAC and then eject it.
Otherwise, you can try re-initialise/re-formatting to FAT32 using software tools. Your phone recognises SD cards formatted in FAT32. If you format it with a MAC, it will not be in FAT32.
First, you can try formatting by using software for for SD cards, SDFormatter 4.0 - download from:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
If that does not work, use a partition manager to re-partition and format to FAT32.
1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition - download from:

2. EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.2 - download from:

If you have a Mac, use the Disk Utility app (you can find it in the Applications/Utilities folder) for format the SD card.
After doing that you should be able to read and write the card on the phone, Mac or Windows without problems:
1. On your Mac, connect the card
2. Open Mac HD on your desktop
3. Open Applications
4. Open Utilities
5. Open Disk Utility
6. On the left you should see the hard drive listed. It should show the drive size with a second indented line beneath it that shows the volume of the drive.
7. Click "Erase" at the top of the screen.
8. Select MS DOS(FAT) File System for the volume format option.
9. Change the name of the drive if desired.
Click "Erase" at the bottom of the screen. You will get a warning and will need to click "Erase" again.
