I've been trying to use link2SD to move apps to SD card. The SD is partitioned into Fat32 and ext02. However, when I try to select either fat32 or ext02 I recieve the following message: mount script cannot be created - mount : invalid argument. What can I do?

This does not work on ICS and the question would be why would you want to? Plenty of internal memory which is much faster and bug free. App2SD is outdated for old phones that had very small shared memory.
I'm using JB. I only have 500 MB available in internal storage, so i cant install the best games.

OK so I'm going to ask again and I hope someone has a answer.how can I move my apps to my external sd, I am running out of space on my phones SD card. All the other apps2sd only move it to the phones SD. So is there an app that can move the apps to the external SD card. Or is there a way to do it myself

Just open the menu off your home screen settings>applications>manage applications
When you select an app there it gives you the option to "move to sd''
Making bad decision's one at a time.
You have to configure the app to transfer them to the external SD. What apps have you tried?
You said you tried link2sd, I bet you didn't create an ext partition on your sdcard or let that program make a mount script so it can allow the apps to move to ext. Partition.

I partition my SD usining cwm already. Now how do I do it using links2sd e

I did a 4090 ext with a 128 swap
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
When you start up link2sd for the first time it asks you to create a ext2,ext3,ext4 or fat16/fat32 mount point. You need to select the one you created(should be ext3 since you made it in cwm) so the program can create a external mount script each time you reboot the phone.
After that has been done you can either single or multiselect apps to move to ext partition. Since I have over 600 apps I batch(multiselect) my apps and choose the option "create link" which will move those apps, library files, cache and library files to my ext4 partition.
Also you will need to quick reboot each time you move any apps to ext so they will be added to mount script, you'll be notified in statusbar when this needs to be done.

i want to move my apps to sd external which method is best suitable or which script should i use.
Also what type of external partition and what size should be my swap size. I searched and found darktremor script should i flash that?
I for one, am using an 1GB ext partiton with 64MB swap size done in recovery. For me the 1GB is enough. As for the script, i just use Link2sd from the market. Set it to auto link if you want it to move all your apps to the sd, and you are all done.

I want to know if i can change the internal sd card for a bigger one because i have a extra 16gb sd is it possible to change??
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda premium
Do you mean use the 16gb instead of internal memory?
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda premium
The internal SD card is not removable
No i mean the internal sd the one inside the phone it only has 2gb.i once had a hd2 and changed the internal sd for a bigger one so i though i could do the same with this phone. Is it possible??
Or mount the 16gb as internal.

I really don't know about that but what I did was just change my download path to the external_sd within whatever app I was downloading from

Erm, the phone has built in memory, and then expandable memory from the microSD slot. Use a larger microSD and install your apps or transfer whatever media you have to that instead of the internal memory. You can also set your camera to save images to the microSD instead of the phone's internal memory.
The games install by default to internal sd and i don't have space for games only one fits and can't dl. Eny more that's my biggest problem and cant make the games install the data to external sd.

if you flash the cm7 port your external sd will be in your sdcard path like normal, and internal will be under an emmc folder instead. as far as i know thats your only option
We(tfq) are working on separating the sdcard and external sdcard like in cm7...it'll be emmc for internal ans sdcard for external SD
It does take time so waiting is crucial we are working on a lot of stuff for you guys

Me too I had looooooooooooots of doubts but after I partitioned it today regretted every moment without ext!!!!!!
So I partitioned it through CWM 256 ext and 32 swap and when using link2sd it's exactly like apps are in /data(widgets...)
I don't know about risks coz I didn't face any
PM me for any question I'm ready to help!
I too have a doubt when I partitioning my SD card all my data in it will gonna erase

Yes, partitioning your SD card will format it and erase everything on it, so back it up first.
The point of an ext partition is to extend the internal memory, so you can load it up with apps and not run out of internal storage. This comes in handy on the ov which has very little internal memory to begin with. With an ext partition, you can use apps like link2sd to create symbolic links to your apps, so they can be on the sd card, but the "think" they are on the internal. This way you can move apps that can't be normally moved to the sd, or use widgets, which need to be on the internal memory. I, however like cronmod's ext scripts. They can be put in the init.d of some roms, and they will move your data partition, and/or dalvik, and/or data/apps to the ext. That way you don't have to manage apps like with link2sd. In a sense, it's like adding straight to the internal memory.
To partition your sd card, the easiest thing is to do it from a custom recovery. You won't get to choose the filesystem, but you can choose the size of the ext partition and swap. Keep swap at zero, as most phones here won't use it. Set your ext partition to ~10% of the size of the sd card.
If you want a different filesystem than your recovery gives you, you can use the minitool partition wizard on your pc with a card reader:

Is swap partition really helpful for low ram devices and O1??
Do we need to use any script to use of swap memory or is it done automatically??!
Edit: Good info about swap partition.
hope this can help you!

Actually swap is not needed for o1.Even on ics i have about 150-200 mb of free ram most of the time, and if u make swap partition u'll get even more free ram.But remember unused ram or free ram is nothing but waste of ram in linux, unlike windows.

Finally got it ,was trying for such a long time but wasn't able to..
I have just installed Alien Rom V5 on my ST26. The app looks great and is very fast.
Can anyone tell me if I can link apps to an ext4 partition on my SD card using Link2SD?
I have tried doing this, but apps keep closing.

as i know in this AlienRom, the SD card (external) is swapped into internal SD card so you dont have to link coz all install apps go to external which is now read by the system as internal.....(correct me if im wrong )

I'm aware of the external SD / internal SD swap, but I think apps are still being installed to the internal memory (not the internal SD).
Before switching to AlienRom I was using gavster's AVD Rom and Link2SD installed every app to the ext4 partition on my external SD.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to prevent apps installing to the phone memory? I have a number of phone only apps which have filled the phone memory and are preventing some app updates and the installation of larger new apps.
Link2SD with an ext4 partition worked so well on the AVD Dark Moon Rom.

why don't you just edit vold.fstab :silly:
I thought vold.fstab only switches between external SD and internal SD. The Rom already does this.
Can vold.fstab be edited to prevent apps saving to the phone memory?
