Hey guys my laptop recently died and I have been trying to decide if I want to enter the tablet world. I do however have a few questions that I am hoping you guys can answer for me. First off I have been looking at the samsung galaxy note 10.1 ll, my question is how do I go around the whole flash issue? I guess that is a big set back of mine that I am trying to outweigh. Also with the lack of a usb port you can't transfer songs over to a ipod (ps that is the only apple product I own, refuse to buy anything else of there's). I want to be sold on it, so someone help me out, and educate me. I am not into the gaming aspect so no need for a computer in that aspect. Thanks for your help and advice =)

Galaxy note 10.1 and note 2 are different devices. What you want is the note 10.1. The PC is for loading up the ipod. Or you can get an SD card and store it on your tablet. Or you can upload all of your music to google music and listen to it anywhere you go. The main benefit of this device is the S-Pen. You can take notes and draw easily. You can also hover over links to get more information. If you are using this for strictly entertainment and productivity is not an issue, I would suggest the new ipad. The screen resolution is like 3x that of the note :< That being said, im a student and will most likely be in academia for the rest of my life. There really isn't an alternative to the Note 10.1 for me....

You can also buy the special Connection Kit and have an USB port connected to the tablet port where you can plug an USB key and transfer your favourite files.

Really? I went ahead and picked the galaxy 10.1 up, so im pretty excited. Bestbuy guy wanted me to look at the asus transformer t700? But went ahead and got this instead. Where can i see about the connection kit for the tablet that would be an amazing add on i do believe. Any help for a newb
On a tablet would be awesome. Thanks guys
Here it is:

It was designed for Galaxy Tab 10.1, but it works fine on Galaxy Note 10.1 too. I've got it and it is pretty useful. I recommend you buying the original Samsung one. It's a bit more expensive but it really does the job.
There is a limitation on the connector kit though, you need to connect a powered HDD, a 2.5" unpowered HDD will generate the "High powered USB device detected" error and it won't work... You can use flash drives though.

Hey guys im new to the touchpad world hopefully you guys can help me out here.
So as everyone knows black friday is coming upon us and there happens to be great deals on the Asus Transformer (Link: http://shopping.yahoo.com/articles/yshoppingarticles/748/the-best-black-friday-deals-of-2011/)
I see that the touchpad and the dock that is in the picture above are seperate so im planning on getting both
I pretty much just want to know everything that there is to know about this device, i will of course do my research but would love some input from the xda community who is no rookies when it comes to having one.
What i really want to know is
1. Is it rootable, and if it is what are the + sides of rooting it. i have rooted few phones in my time so now rookie to it either but i dont know how the whole touchepad scenes work.
2. Im getting one for me and my mom from blackfriday and she is a Jehovas Witness and she wants one that she can take out and about with her with all her work on it. Such as some apps that android has for logging in files and keeping track of her hours and such. Does the Transformer have these apps or will i have to jailbreak it for her to make it run android so she is familiar with the market.
3. What is the battery life on this thing/
4. And any other downsides and Plus sides u guys think i should know about this before standing my ass outside for hours before purchasing
Thanks for hearing me out guys and really appreciate even the slightest info. Like i said i am gonna do my own research on top of all this but anything u guys want to chime in on is a plus.
Appreciate it guys, thanks! Happy Thanksgiving as well.
One other thing guys, does a TF have a disk drive to insert cds and download programs? Or even the dock for that matter?
THanks
Yes, it is rootable- there is a one click method for rooting and clockworkmod now! There isn't a DVD drive but there are 2 full size usb 2.0 ports (dock only) mini-hdmi (tab) micro SD (tab) and ful size SD (dock). Also, the docking station adds 8 hours of battery life (16 total) and comes with a trackpad. Rooting the tablet isn't nessecary but if you do, the revolver ROM increases performance, customiazation and battery life. Good luck! hope i answered your questions.
i just got mine transformer and keyboard dock today. It is by far the best tablet out.IMO I had a xoom and kept it for 3 days and went back to best buy and traded for a galaxy tab 10.1 and keyboard dock which the tab doesnt lock into the dock i almost droped my tab off the dock 3 times in one day... so went back to bb today and traded for the transformer.... i love the way he tab locks into the keyboard dock..... less than 15 minutes after i got home with it i had it rooted and CWM installed..... very easy

Joey_UFC, all your questions can be found by taking the time to read the ASUS Transformer sections. I will give you a hint on battery life, that I created a poll a while back to collect what kind of battery life people get.

Hi guys,
I´m very new to all this and I don´t really know whether or not this may be possible in the future.
I have the Xoom 2 10.1" Wifi, I´ve already rooted my device, installed "USB mass storage", and purchased this adapter:
amazon uk, "gp/product/B006R0XOLO/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details"
(Sorry, I cannot post links yet!)
It works fine with a USB pen, but as soon as I connect my portable HD it freezes immediately, as described here (around 9:30):
youtube, "watch?v=nWvaH-If83Q"
I´d like to be able to use my Xoom to download pictures and videos on the go, so the external powered USB mentioned in the previous video is not a valid solution for me.
I understand is a power issue, but I don´t really know if with the proper kernel (?), a different cable, or some other way I may ignore, this will be possible some day. I would really appreciate some input.
Thanks a lot.

I have found that the newest HDDs (a brand new USB3 Passport) works fine without external power while my smaller 1st generation Passport lights up but doesn't spin.
That´s great news for me, thanks a lot!
The portable HD I tried it´s at least a couple of years old, so that may be the issue. Could you please post a link or at least the exact model you purchased? (I wouldn´t like to purchase the wrong model...).
I just noticed, though, that your signature says "Motorola Xoom", not Xoom 2, I wonder if the all device may be possible to power it up while the new one may not??
I realize the Xoom 2 is not a very popular device, but I´m still quite worried about such a positive feature being consistently ignored, if someone did actually got it to work...
two possibilities:
a) buy a hdd that draws less power upon spinup
b) try to make your own "external" power source from maybe one or two 18650 Li-Ion batteries and a dc/dc-converter. Make that provide power to your hdd and only connect the data-leads to your xoom. Might work, but ask someone who really knows about this stuff before frying your hd/xoom/car/etc.

I´d love to! But I´d like to know beforehand if it works, before I spend my money. Do you happen to know which brands/models draw the least amount of power??

I have no idea how to do this, and I don´t know anyone who has done it. The possibility of "frying" my brand new device doesn´t sound too enticing, either. On top of that, the idea of lugging around even more cables/devices to power the Xoom up makes the whole idea of the tablet less than ideal, for my needs. I rather purchase that one "good" HD, if such a thing exists...
IT WORKED!
I´m going to be writing a new post about it, so people can find it more easily.
Stay tuned!

In my endlessly circular deliberations between Note 10.1 and Nexus 10 I am now focussing on streaming to TV.
Can anyone answer whether the Allshare adaptor for TV
a Works with the Note 10.1
b Mirrors the screen exactly or only streams selected content (video/music/photos etc)
c Requires a Wifi connection as well as an HDMI and separate power source
Many thanks
a. Yes
b. Yes
c. no yes yes

Excellent, that may have swung it, as rumours seem to indicate that N10 miracast support is not functioning, despite being capable.
I looked at ipad/Airplay but that's over Wifi which means it's largely non-portable.
Thank you
I very much enjoy my allshare. Plus after registering with samsung, they gave me 50% off, so that was nice, getting the adapter for only 50 bucks!
When watching netflix, youtube, or hulu, it will put the video on the tv and you can use the seek function on the note. Also, with the youtube app, you can have the video play in full screen on the tv and do limited browsing on the note, like the related to videos and stuff like that while you are finishing up your current video. I haven't noticed much out of sync with the videos, I think that mostly has to do the my internets at the time because I have had the same kind of issues using hdmi and my laptop. It is soooo much nicer not having any wires to mess with, just connect on demand. It makes this by far the coolest thing, plus the ir transmitter so you can do everything on the note.
One thing I did have to do, after doing a lot of flashing and changing a lot of stuff, not sure if you would be doing the same, but I had to use triangle away to reset my flash count to get it to work, most other people never have to do that, but for whatever resaon that is the only way I got it to work for me
Great. I probably won't root yet anyway. Unless it is required for all share.
I'm going to wait until the official jb update then root after that.
Swype'd at pace from my Galaxy S2
does the Allshare dongle Support Miracast ? possible to connect via Nexus 7/10 to that dongle? or via Windows WiFi direct+special Tool?
kinda sad that the dongle needa external Power And is huge. But Else cool stuff.
If you are referring to the wireless adapter, it works very well and works with hbo go and YouTube. It works well enough that I just went and bought this tablet due to the fact that I used it with my sgs3.

Hey folks!
I recently thought of possible projects to realize with my old Samsung Galaxy S2. It has a shattered screen, but beside that its perfectly working. I thought it's somehow a shame to leave this device unused, since it is actually such a powerful computer. And I guess that applies to many of you: You get a new phone and your old phone rests somewhere in a drawer. You could sell it-but either it some misfunctions (which are often simply from a beauty aspect ), or you simply want to keep it. That's how I got to the idea to use my old Galaxy S2 as a cloudserver.
For that I basically installed Ubuntu Touch on it (which is available for many Android devices) and then on it the ownCloud server. And it works ! Now I have my phone running on the charger and a perfectly working cloudserver. At the moment I use a 32 GB memory card, but it would be possible to attach a mass memory via USB OTG. But then I would have to power the phone directly from the wall plug (which should be possible with a normal 5V charger and a diode), but ... meh, next project .
A small demonstration you can see here:
To read the whole story with step-by-step guide, check my new blog:

What do you think of it?
Hey folks. Figured I'd go ahead and get the ball rolling on this. The note9 folks have have a thread for their note9s, so let's have one for the Galaxy s10.
the x3 elite Lapdock works pretty good with the s10, about as well as folks are reporting it works with the note9.
I'm having basically the same issues as those people over there are
Issues:
-Sound issues
---Built in speakers and headphone jack never work (There are some work-arounds, I need to do more reading) so far only the phone's speakers work, and only when I reboot both phone and lapdock (but don't need to do this every time)
-Trackpad buttons, (No Left or Right click, only tapping works. It's not bad, takes some getting used to. The track pad on this thing was trying to rip apple off and failed and it's really sad because I'm sure it could've been great lol)
Everything else works. This may become my new daily driver. Need to figure out if blue tooth speakers/Samsung Buds will work with this setup, because if they will, the other issues will be non issues.
Remember to record what ever steps you take to fix something as clearly as possible, and remember to note exactly what model of s10 and lapdock you have.
Mine:
Samsung Galaxy s10 Model: SM-G973U 9(US.. T-Mobile Prism White 128GB Pre-order)
HP x3 Elite Lapdock Model: V8H07UTR#ABA
Thanks for Reading
Your S10 has a Snapdragon right?
Yes it is a Snapdragon s10.
I am returning my dock this morning because spontaneously over night it has decided to stop working at all. I have no idea if this is just the interface between the phone and the lapdock being finicky or if the dock itself has failed. I'm suspecting the latter.
So i'm kind of out of the game for the moment but I'm definitely hoping to encourage more conversation on this.

I just bought a HP lapdock with my s10e and the same thing happened on the first day but i figured out that if I change the setting to screen mirroring when I first connect it then back to dex it will connect properly.

Its a bug. You have to playing some sort of media (music or video) while you plug in your phone. You can stop playback after it launches DeX
So i get
So I get it synonymous with video in the background not to run. The reaction to the communication is always a little different. Once I was so far as the mekn Smartphone dex has detected, and no hdmi error message is still no image. Do erit I came only once. 'll use another jabel, just use thunderbolt 3 cable
