First of all, great thanks to Brahmnoor who helped me a lot with this...
Hey guys,
I would like to know who people think the best developer for our device is. So I had an idea: I invented the AVEDOY Awards. AVEDOY is short for: AriesVE Dev Of the Year. The categories are:
Developer of the year
Custom ROM of the year
Custom Kernel of the year
Newcomer of the year
Contributor of the year
Themer of the year
Most helpful Dev of the year
Now I would like to know your opinion. Which SGS+ ROM did you like best in 2012? Which kernel was your favorite? And who was the best developer last year?
Your vote counts
You can make a poll survey page. I'll make one for u, just wait some time. Anyway good idea of urs.
Edit :
Done !!!
Please take the survey here - http://www.smoothie.tk/avedoy-awards-survey/
Also take a sneak preview at the official Smoothie ROMs website !!
MicroDroidXDA : Please include this link in the OP.
And the AVEDOYs go to...
The voting is over and the results are there. Some categories were distinct from the beginning, some others were exciting till the end. And the participation was a whole lot higher than I thought. So there you go:
The AVEDOY Award for the MOST HELPFUL DEVELOPER of the year 2012 goes to:
IVENDOR
The AVEDOY Award for the BEST THEMER of the year 2012 goes to:
ALESSANDROXCV
The AVEDOY Award for the BEST CONTRIBUTOR of the year 2012 goes to:
BROODPLANK1337
The AVEDOY Award for the BEST NEWCOMER of the year 2012 goes to:
DIABLOB555
Now we're getting to the three main categories: Developer, ROM and Kernel of the year. I think the Kernel voting was the closest one: Only 3 percentage points seperated number 1 and 2.
And the AVEDOY Award for the BEST KERNEL of the year 2012 goes to:
DIABLOB555 for his DIABLO KERNEL!!! Congratulations, it's nice to see a newcomer win one of the most important categories
The voting for the best Custom ROM was just as close as the Kernel voting in the beginning, but later on, one ROM outdistanced all the others.
The AVEDOY Award for the BEST CUSTOM ROM of the year 2012 goes to:
IVENDOR for his version of CYANOGENMOD 10!!! Thanks a lot ivendor!
And finally we're getting to the most important category - and also the most distinct voting. It was not a surprise actually, but he was not the only one who deserved it. Actually, every single developer deserved it. But only one of them was good enough to win this award.
The AVEDOY Award for the BEST DEVELOPER of the year 2012 goes to:
IVENDOR!!! Congratulations man, you really rocked these awards But you truely deserved it: Together with arco68 (who didn't win any category, which is a bummer), you brought CM9 to us. And as arco didn't build CM10 for our device, you did it. And most of the awesome Jelly Bean ROMs we have are based on your CM10.
So that was it. The first edition of the AVEDOY Awards is over. And the next one is going to be very interesting, because I think it's gonna get more and more difficult to port the latest Android versions to our device. At that point, great thanks to Xistance who gave us CM10.1. I'm really looking forward to the first JB 4.2 build with working camera, data and wi-fi... but of course, that's gonna take a while Anyway, great thanks to every single dev who keeps the i9001-Android-Development alive See you next year guys
My favourite:
CM10 by ivendor
Kernel 3.0 by Arco/Ivendor (Jaggyjags edit - oc/uv 1,8ghz)

AWESOME *_* What a pity I won't be able to count this anymore, it's for 2012.... But as the first guy to release 4.2.1, I think you'll have good chances to win the AVEDOY best Dev 2013
And BTW your guides are awesome too ^_^

hmmm, morning.....what is the point of this thread really? when we have pure cm9 already (originally by Sakindia123, Lirokoa, Savves) you added apache license to devicetree, your kernel is slightly modded thats it....am I missing something here, if the rom was heavily modded I could maybe understand but its not, please explain

I could do the same, compile and upload to a new thread, but I havent because its already been done, I`m not arguing with you about this
you have a kernel thread already? which is fair enough because you`ve modified code and could be beneficial to others users and probably would work with any cm9 rom......I dont understand WHY you have uploaded someone else`s base rom with absolutley no changes to whats already available............this is xda developers not "copymywork.com" we want something original not totally the same

copymywork ? , it was forbidden to make your own and then share ? I think it's very selfish, everyone can make it and share it, let the user choose. this is not a competition .. :lol

News | About AOKP (WIP) | FAQ | @AOKP_ROM
Personal note:
One year ago, my father wanted to change his old nokia 6630, so I recommended him to buy an android, precissely the Galaxy R because of its nvidia tegra chip, it's good specs and it's good price. At first, it gave some problems, random reboots, freezes. I was afraid that I didn't made him a good suggestion buying this mobile phone. When he bought it, the developer community for Galaxy R was nearly inexistant. That made me sad because I owned a Nexus S and there was a great support for it. His mobile phone came with Gingerbread 2.3, and i wanted to install him a ICS rom, unfortunately nvidia and samsung's sources weren't out, so I had to wait. I just wanted him to have such a good phone as mine, with the same support and with the latest android version. The other day I saw adam77Root with help of other xda developers could build a good device tree for Galaxy R, so I thought, why not try to build AOKP for Galaxy R (I personally love AOKP roms)? So I tried to build it, but I was getting some errors compiling. So I started adapting the device tree to work with AOKP, just minor changes. After some time debugging I could successfuly build my first rom from Source. So I'm very happy and I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed building it.
What works:
Mobile network
Data connection
Audio (microphone may or may not work)
Wi-Fi
Video player (may or may not work)
Accelerometer, orientation, magnetic field, light, proximity, battery temperature sensors
BLN feature (you need either the free or the paid version of BLN Control from Play Store)
Auto brightness needs manual workaround (See later.)
Known Bugs (Same as CM10 Adam77Root build):
Camera (even the app isn't included)
BlueTooth
Gyroscope (It is disabled deliberately as it causes issues with deep sleep.)

Did not try many things. Just superficial view.
whenever an app is opened, phone becomes irresponsive for a couple of seconds and then regains control. Power button takes too long to show menu.

Yeah IMO CNA is one of the sexiest roms I've ever used. I think it would be interesting to build it from sources. Referring to the message app, touchkeys and data I'll investigate, but I'll also need some help of the real developers ^^

Or AOCP. Dman could surely help with that if you start.
Ok guys, you all know my AOSP 4.0.4 build, now I made a new AOSP build, this time it's JellyBean 4.1.2 JZO54K. Now that I know the method of building I easily built this version. It's still a bit CM10ish (just like AOSP 4.0.4 was CM9 like at the start). Test it out!
broodKernel v1.5 OC is included for now.
(It may contain a lot of CM10 files which aren't required, but this is just a pre alpha, but it fully works!)

Hey brood, nice to see this.
I want to give you a suggestion. Why not try to port this rom to our device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810042
which is true aosp, istead of downgrading cm10 and messing around with build files and so on. I think this could make your life a bit easier.
and if you get it to work maybe there is hope to get official support.
(I'm willing to add support for other devices so if you are a developer and willing to add support for your device(s), PM me)

EDIT. Just saw that the creator of the rom only provides the 4.2.1 sources on his github.

After installing slimbean 4.2.2 on my personal phone and seeing all the neat new features it has I decided that the sgs4g community needed to have it....it really is awesome
Fully compiled from AOSP source ( source.android.com) with our mods.
Read the Change-log and installation instructions from the official website carefully.
Feature requests will be ignored in general, but we will review ( if a relevant commit or source is provided) and then decide.
Strictly NO ports based on our ROM zip (official or unofficial build) file, manifest.xml will be updated regularly and feel free to compile from source.

Its working on slimbean 4.1.x but on 4.2.x it turns on to scan and just hangs. From what I've been able to tell there's a new lib associated with WiFi I believe its libinetface something along those lines. Its not building for us as I believe we only have source for bcmdhd driver.
I have tried a bunch of fixes but nothing is sticking if you guys grab a log it says fw_path not found and nv_path I've tried setting both but again no luck
Also this week alone I'm working a lot my week starts Sunday I already have 35 under my belt with a 5hr day Sunday OT and a 14 hr day Monday and 13 hr day Tuesday and I've been up since 330am pacific I'd say
Another long day today just no time til the weekend if I'm lucky

I built this because I got a personal request from a member of our forum
Can't settle on a rom... Like one rom, but wish it had features of another... Well look no further...
PACman is a unique rom.
We have picked the best features from CM10, Aokp and PA and combined them in a single rom so you get the experience you deserve
To enjoy the features of every available project without the hassle of flashing regularly.
The Rom is rock stable for an average user but keep in mind the Rom is in WIP stage so expect some minor hickups but we are trying our best to resolve these issues
Check your device whether it is a GALAXY S 4G OR NOT...
Check your device's ROM IS MTD ROM OR NOT (IF NOT, please FLASH CM7 or CM9 or bla bla bla MTD ROMS)...
Backup (Titanium or Nandroid)
Boot into CWM or TWRP
Wipe everything for sure
Flash GAPPS.
Reboot.
Let it sit for 10 mins or so (and maybe a reboot after for better feeling)
Enjoy.
.
.
.
I'm not quite sure it WILL boot :-"...LOL, JUST KIDDING, IT WILL BOOT

YEP, AND NO ERRORS (except common aries) HAHA, but unfortunately, I couldn't upload it fine via filezilla to goo.im so I will use my school internet for it in 3 hours or so (it will be a 5mins upload compare to my over-hour upload lmao)
FEEL FREE TO DISCUSS, TICKLE, Q&A, SINGING bla bla HERE PEOPLE
@Cooptx It's too late haha, I have been syncing the ChaOS cause it's lighter but dunt worry, I will build and wipe the ChaOS cause I don't have much thing to do w it plus it's a light source tho and sync Xylon b4 exam n apply my patches again after it (luckily I backed up all my changes for Xylon or it will be nightmare editing the whole source again lol)
Then I shall tickle you Dao. I don't care which order it comes in :3 I am going to have to try them all anyways. Again good luck on your exam and thanks for the Bacon I do believe it is time for me to get fat

I keep getting an "package is invalid error". Also when I try to open the ZIP on my laptop, it says the archive file is corrupt.
I believe it has something to do with Busybox.... I couldn't find where though...
