News | About AOKP (WIP) | FAQ | @AOKP_ROM
Personal note:
One year ago, my father wanted to change his old nokia 6630, so I recommended him to buy an android, precissely the Galaxy R because of its nvidia tegra chip, it's good specs and it's good price. At first, it gave some problems, random reboots, freezes. I was afraid that I didn't made him a good suggestion buying this mobile phone. When he bought it, the developer community for Galaxy R was nearly inexistant. That made me sad because I owned a Nexus S and there was a great support for it. His mobile phone came with Gingerbread 2.3, and i wanted to install him a ICS rom, unfortunately nvidia and samsung's sources weren't out, so I had to wait. I just wanted him to have such a good phone as mine, with the same support and with the latest android version. The other day I saw adam77Root with help of other xda developers could build a good device tree for Galaxy R, so I thought, why not try to build AOKP for Galaxy R (I personally love AOKP roms)? So I tried to build it, but I was getting some errors compiling. So I started adapting the device tree to work with AOKP, just minor changes. After some time debugging I could successfuly build my first rom from Source. So I'm very happy and I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed building it.
What works:
Mobile network
Data connection
Audio (microphone may or may not work)
Wi-Fi
Video player (may or may not work)
Accelerometer, orientation, magnetic field, light, proximity, battery temperature sensors
BLN feature (you need either the free or the paid version of BLN Control from Play Store)
Auto brightness needs manual workaround (See later.)
Known Bugs (Same as CM10 Adam77Root build):
Camera (even the app isn't included)
BlueTooth
Gyroscope (It is disabled deliberately as it causes issues with deep sleep.)
Download
MEDIAFIRE | Google Apps
Install
If coming from another ROM or another major AOKP version, wipe data in recovery

Flash Google Apps
Reboot

UPDATE 1
Sound should work, rom should work flawlessly, red border should disappear with the build.prop patch.
FIRST RELEASE
Note: The "Device" option under settings gives a FC I'll try to disable the option in the next build until it can get fixed.
Touch keys are laggy and messages seem to crash.
Mobile data must be fixed.

Wow i just cant believe what im seeing. Travelling to my home town right now and not going to bother about my 3g data cap right now. Downloading....
Edit : ok so ROM boots !!
Did not try many things. Just superficial view.
whenever an app is opened, phone becomes irresponsive for a couple of seconds and then regains control. Power button takes too long to show menu.
Noy sure if this is just for me.
Unable to add screenashots. Only tapatalk hosted option available which fails

You can port Helly bean, Codename Android, Liquid Smooth, C.A.M.P., Android Revolution, Dark Paranoid Android, Sense.....and lots of other roms
Yeah IMO CNA is one of the sexiest roms I've ever used. I think it would be interesting to build it from sources. Referring to the message app, touchkeys and data I'll investigate, but I'll also need some help of the real developers ^^

After giving some time to suddenly closing this thread out, I decided that it was unfair to my self and also unfair the the AOKPCB Broccoli users. I closed the thread out without thinking things through and should have just kept it on hold and left the download links up for all to enjoy if they wanted. With all this being said... I have decided to reopen this. As of right now, the download links are from my previous builds... But... I will be posting a new build.. Shortly.

Team Kang created AOKP... Not Nun. . This is the updated build 37.. Which includes fixes/updates and Team Broccoli works off of latest aokp builds and add their own flavor. So in short to answer your question.. Any AOKP based ROM you download is going to have a similar layout..

Thanks for picking this up Scott! We'll be doing our best to keep AOKPCB clean and feature-packed as always.
Would also love to have you maintain the Infuse 4G for us. Hit me up via PM, or find me in our IRC chan, #AOKPCB on freenode (or link to it on our PCB Mini-Site). If I'm not around (it's my b-day today ), just find remicks, he's our build master and also a great dood.
Cheers and SUPER happy that our work is getting positive feedback!

Thanks guys... All credit goes to Team Broccoli on this for their amazing work on this. Ive been discussing the game plan with Scar and remicks from team broccoli and I am going to continue to port the nightly releases and provide links here, but they are also going to include the port on their end for download as i complete them... Still working out details... But one thing is for sure.. You are going to want to keep a close eye on this thread.. Your def going to want to be a part of these builds they release.
FYI... Nightly build 5/28 will be up within an hour or two.

UPDATE 14/10: Doomsday94 released a new version of Jelly Bean and is built from Cyanogenmod sources! Thread link here: here
UPDATE 11/9: First of all, sorry folks for the late updates but it was kinda busy at my work. Thankfully I have some time to keep this thread up to date. If anyone wants help/keep this updated, just send me a PM .
Doomsday94 made a working and booting Jelly Bean build. There alot of things working! Check it out here. Or you can check out the working functions in the schedule below by VisualTech48.
UPDATE 17/7: vpupkin made a first try and JB is booting and there's some working stuff.
UPDATE: vpupkin already tried to build Jelly Bean for our device but not any progress. Reason: lots of bugs in the android source tree. Post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28593563&postcount=1302
I created this thread because the Jelly Bean source code has just been released a few days ago, so the developers can now create JB roms from source.
Since nobody has tried to get JB on our device (except for vpupkin, post is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28593563&postcount=1302) that's why this thread. Vpupkin asked for a sort of "chatroom" for sharing work between developers, if you want you can do it here! Or by using the IRC channel on the bottom of the post.
Trying to keep this thread updated with all the Jelly Bean related news for our device (i9001 aka AriesVE). And of course we all want JB for our device!
I'm not a experienced dev myself but I often test ROMs for a friend who develops for the Galaxy S Plus. I can help testing JB if you want (PM me).

Ok, first try:
Working: wi-fi, gps, video-acceleration.
Non-working: audio. camera, gsm, maybe a lot of other apps ;-)
During this compilation I tried just to get bootable CM10, not bugless, so a lot of bugfixes from CM9 are not included.

Performance? For me its really laggy at the moment, if you compare it with the videos of the nexus running jb.
of course it's laggy, what I meant was for the very first build and in comparison to cm9 animation is a bit laggy but apps starting faster in my opinion.
btw play store tells me a lot of apps ain't compatible with my device, e.g. facebook installs an very old version if I had something beyond android 2.2
Booting JB!! Buggy or not, its awesome...

It's booting! Yay!! great work guys! :good:
I think I'll just leave CM10 for a while, because there is no point to make a CM10 before you get major-bug-free CM9. There not much difference between these two android versions, (it would be relatively-easy port all the work) so I think I'll just try to help arco, oisis and other guys with their work, and when it's done it would be time for JellyBean.

I can listen to music as well. So wondering what exactly isn't working with audio
Anyway I'll test further, so I might find out soon.
Really great job btw.
Its hard to believe how fast you make progress! Just awesome that you got most of the things working in a few days already. Respect!
Amazing
Super fast including re-boot time
Looks like it is going to be too fast deving of this ROM.

Ha ha LOL same here. But mine was based on PhyscoGame's Alpha 1 like my JoyOS port. The only reason I don't use it is because it was originally from Gio, a MDPI device and it wasn't re sized for LDPI when it was ported to Mini. It can be seen in the screenshots that the battery icon is smaller than usual. My .9.png skillz are worse than my singing skillz.
No offense but its just no use to port this roms just wait for few time our devs will bring cm stable

It's gonna be a PORTOCALYPSE once we get a stable CM7. And I'm getting out of XDA once I finish with my FC bug fix! I'll open up the Galaxy Y thread after a year or two and see so many port ROMs from noobs that I'll topple off the chair and die. No offence to the OP, but only post ports of ROMs that aren't just CM7 with a Theme Choose theme with no extra features. You know, like JoyOS or MIUI or Mokee OS or LeWa OS or Lezo OS or DianXin OS.

Or even if you do ports of these ROMs from other devices, and post them here on XDA, don't expect to get heaps of thanks from the users. Because, frankly, no one is willing to waste their bandwith to download an entire ROM when they could easily just as well download a theme (about 3-10 MB max) and then just use that. No offence again, but you can take a look at all the ports posted on the SGY thread (my aOS, MIUI by both duduaxe and amal das, JoyOS by nagendra, Paranoid Android by evan, loads of CM7 themed ports...) and see that all of them are dead, and the OPs hardly ask that question.
Directed at OP, btw. Just quoted techno's post because it seemed more relevant.
ok, i appreciate the effort being collaborated with the work and some may find this useful,
but i beg everyone,
please stop making CM7 ports of other device, unless you can get it working perfectly that is fine,
if i may suggest we could contribute to either white, merruk, or psycho to get our device working,
let's all put the thanks and selfishness aside and work as a community,
this is what xda is all about, knowledge sharing,
if we could all just help each other out and settle the differences we'd have a stable CM way back before

Here you mean these are not bugs in the ROM but this ROM fixes them, right? Does it use your latest Kernel? :good:

Awesome!!
Does this support other languages than english? All I really care about is a keyboard with åäö, but spellchecking with my language is a plus. This looks like a ROM I must give a go...
Installed, up and running. been using for a couple of hours with only 1 big issue.
The AOSP keyboard swiping doesn't work. If I tap the word gets typed. If I swipe it does nothing..and Yes I do have the option checked.

Thanks droyd for continuing another one of the more popular roms out there for android. Can't believe this rom isn't making any sound for this device. But my guess is that you'll change that

@zaak00 The rom is multilanguage so i think there is spellchecking for your language.
Just installed, i'm setting all my stuff and then testing! i think i've switched on all the rom in this forum, hope to stick for a couple of week with this
