I'm sure many of you are firmilar with evild's work on the n1, mt4g and other highend devices. I happened to flash his 3.0 rom on my wifes mt4g sand got to chatting with him. Hes interested in getting a g2x, so I told him id attempt to orchestrate a collection of funds to buy him a g2x. First things first, what will a no contract g2x cost? What is the cheapest anyone has seen one for sale off contract? Secondly, if anyone has an upgrade they are willing to donate, THAT WOULD BE PHENOMENAL! I'm good for $100 to start things off. If you find one off contract for cheap, please post links! Moderators, please feel free to get involved.

yo honestly i could use money too if u just throwin it to people..like all these devs don't got cash to buy the phone ? LG should be sponsoring them not a forum unless your that keen on HIS rom like even cm7 got his by himself no one helped me get mine i worked hard for my money i rather keep stock and wait then fork out money and wait personally only saying because i donated last time and havn't seen a thing yet and it's been a month just over helpin out like that u want advice i got you but not my green

That is why I hate xda bunch of free loading crack flashers that don't help the Dev. community just piss people off and whine for help when they get in trouble....... count me in for 20 bucks

Does he plan on making a sense port for the G2X might wanna specify what his work will entail, I'd be very happy to donate to the cause if he could get sense to work on the device... Pretty sure it won't/can't be done. I'll stay tuned in nonetheless.

Very good question... I can only assume so, since alot of his work is done with sense ui. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread, so as he reads through it, I'm sure he'll clarify on that.

haha yea a little part of me died when the sense roms stopped for the N1
Yea, I guess I didn't miss it all that much because I went straight from the n1 to the mt4g. So I almost immediately had evil support again lol.

have you been on the internet long? people are people. and you'll find people like that on any forum. i've seen people talking like that online since before the internet was mainstream. it's not only xda. there is no way to stop it. so just get used to it. but, i got your back on voicing your opinion as well. what xda needs is a dislike button. i've seen them on other sites. and after so many dislikes,your post gets hidden and members have to click "show" to see it.

People like you thinking it's ok to use these Roms for free without donating a dime is a FAIL!
These Devs work hard and long hrs. to make these roms for your phone to function and look better!
So a little donation wouldn't hurt for you to give!
Or better yet if you don't, don't bother commenting on it!
Don't look at it as paying for there phone, but rather an advance for work they are going to do for you!
Everyone has a favorite dev. Mine personally is TW.

Your idea is ingenious. I will take it up with a friend whose a mod here and see what he thinks. Not sure it will get too far but you never know.
That is a very good idea. Giving thumbs down to certain posters would warn other readers at this forum. It would also be useful against scammers who steal the Dev's work and pawn the mods as their own begging for donations. There was one on the Samsung Epic forum last year and on the Asus Transformer forum a few weeks ago.

I've been on the internet for awhile... a lot of forums and yes I know there are always negative people... I can be one of them... at times... but I hate how broad the ignorance on this site is..
Tw made there own forum like many other devs. For this same reason....

Man I gotta say that I am VERY proud to be part of the captivate community. We have alot of wonderful devs and determined people here! With CM7 and MIUI maturing to a rather stable usable state, and I9000 sourced 2.3.3 roms chugging away, things are just getting better and better here all the time :].

I love how active and changing it is. It seems like every developer here is always hard at work to perfect and update their work, something other phone communities don't seem quite so set on doing. I only wish I had enough programming experience to contribute more than downloading, enjoying and reporting the occasional bug, because the more bustling the better.

You can help them out in the forums, if someone asks a question you know the answer to answer it, the devs really appreciate not having to micro manage the thread and while they are busy with rom updates. That is what I did to help out, I'm now a member of team phoenix because of it.
Yeah if it weren't for the overwhelming community support this phone would be utter crap. Thanks to the devs we are all here.

Im proud as well. I have had my cappy since launch and its so cool to see how this community has grown, and the support from the chefs is great. Im always up-talking this forum to other owners that i meet that dont know the actual ability this phone has.
Now if it only was a light sabor too....
Same boat as broke ass college student so I do what I can with answering questions too.
I got my Captivate at the beginning of the year and I still flash ROMS updates as much today as when I first got it. Its because of all the choices that we have as well as updates (still can't believe we are able to run Gingerbread) that makes this phone great.
If and when I am ready to upgrade to my next phone, looking at the XDA development for the phone is going to sway my decision.

I gotta say I agree, most the people here are to cool. I haven't asked alot of question because I've taken the advice I've seen many times and read read read lol. But when I have asked I got quick responses and never a hard time for asking. So now I try to answer any questions I know the answer to so I can say I contributed somehow. Hi I would just like to thank everyone that has helped me on this forum the Samsung Galaxy S 4G has been my first very phone and when I got it I already knew what I wanted to do with it which was install a custom rom but didn't know much about the procedures and had a lot of help from the community here at XDA. I am kind of sad that I will be returning this phone back to the Tmobile retailer because I will be missing all of you guys that are so helpful to me and everyone else, but also happy that I will be getting a newer phone (having the SGS4G for under a month). Reasons I am returning is because currently I pay a overpriced plan for features I barely even use so will be getting a cheaper plan and buying a phone by itself, for whatever phone I will be getting I can at least hope that community will be half as helpful as the members on this section!
I like to especially thank some people who have really took the time to help me out.
The first guy that helped me with rooting and such is Fbis251!
I received a very great if not the most help from thomas.raines, a lot of other people I like to thank too are dsexton702, JuLes' MostWanted, DnickDominic, RaverX3X, lumin30, and Im sure I'm missing a lot of people!!!
Shout out to Raver's miui rom never got to try that but man the preview screenshots look sexy!! Also was waiting on airfluip's 4.0 version but I am sure the wait is worth it guys will be amazing as well!

Just wanted to take the time to thank the community here for all the awesome work to help keep this device alive.. specifically design gears for helping me with cwm and dan Rosenberg for root and all the devs who keep the forums alive with great new stuff!
But its come time for me to pack the o3d away in a drawer cause I just ordered my new iPhone 4s....

Furthermore, thank you for pointing us in the right direction when we aren't headed that way. Some people in the community think that you are being harsh, but I beg to differ. Sometimes a little coarse is the only way to be, and doing all this work for free is definitely stressful. Accept it for what it is, instead of making excuses for your own butthurt. These guys are working hard as hell for you, when they don't owe you anything at all, so thank them for what they are doing every chance you get, sand let the n00bs pay their dues. They will get over it. Thank you, guys, for all your hard work and sacrifice.......
