[Q] Wiping /emmc ?? - Asus Transformer TF700

If I was going to flash a custom rom ( yes I am unlocked and rooted and using twrp 2.3.3.0 ) If I boot to TWRP could I safely wipe (erase) all of emmc if I had my new custom rom on my microSD and flashed it right after the emmc wipe ??
I am concerned about it wiping ../data/media is that going to be ok to wipe ?
I just see a lot of JUNK on my emmc that I would like to just wipe, but dont know if it is safe.
Please advise.
Thank you

If you want to lose all your data, it is safe to wipe.

If a install requires a FULL wipe, does that mean a factory reset/ data wipe/ a cache wipe and ext wipe?
if not, how to do a full wipe.
also, if i install a new recovery, does it overwrite my Nadroid backup? and can i still recover a backup if i have a new recovery. WIll the full wipe erase my backup?

since the other guy wouldnt help out. but hes right, should be asked in Q&A section.
back ur sd card up on your computer, including the nanoid backup folder, install recovery, do a fullwipe, mount your phone again and transfer the saved files back to your sd card, you will still be able to use the nanoid backup you have saved on your sd card.
as for what to wipe, im not 100% on it i just wipe all but ext3 usually.

What to wipe when flashing custom rom?

Hello all. I know this is a noob question and Im sorry, but I need to ask.
When Im flashing a custom rom (going to try EOS again) what exactly do I need to wipe?
Im using TWRP. I know that I need to wipe the Cache, Dalvik Cache and system. Do I also choose the Factory Reset option? How about Internal Storage? Then there is the Format Data option. Which of these should I do?

If you do a factory reset, you don't have to worry about wiping anything else.
As for what to wipe for installing a custom ROM, it depends. EOS recommends a factory reset when you are flashing their ROMs going from any other type of ROM, including stock. If your on ICS, to jellybean, factory reset. 4.1 to 4.2, factory reset. One nightly to the newer one, you don't have too.
Internal storage is not something you want to wipe... that is any pictures, files, music etc. etc. that you have on the tablet, it will be the same as when you unlock the bootloader, you lose EVERYTHING!! Factory reset, you won't lose anything that isn't on the system partition.
Make sure you are on the latest version of the recommended recoveries
Perfect. The information you gave is exactly what I needed. Thanks Draxin.

[Q] Regarding full wipe & root.

Sorry if this has been up before, tried searching several times through google but havent got a concrete answer yet.
1. When i do a full wipe on my HOS, do i lose root?
2. What are the exact steps of fullwipe? I have read some controversial statements regarding that.(twrp)
Factory 3x, system 3x, both caches 3x has been the most promising answer to me, is this correct or does anyone have a better solution? And what about the order of those?
Thanks in Advance! Cheers.

Yes, but it's a bit academic:
Root is in your ROM. (In a custom recovery you are always root.) If you wipe your system partition, you have no OS installed at all, and therefor no root.
When you then flash a rooted ROM, you have root again.
Wiping anything will never relock your bootloader or turn S-On.

When you wipe data, you also wipe dalvik cache, since dalvik cache is on your data partition. (The reverse is not true.)
Factory reset (in the bootloader menu) must be done on a stock recovery, but as far as I know this is only needed when your sdcard partition becomes corrupted.
About the '3x' - thing,

Yes, the 'full wipe' youre doing between ROMs does not wipe the sdcard partition. So as to preserve your music, photos, etc.. If you want, you can wipe your sdcard from recovery or from bootloader. As I said in my previous post, (when I was under the impression that this is what you were talking about) wiping sdcard from bootloader must be done on stock recovery.
Generally, when just switching ROMs you dont need to wipe your sdcard.

Unable to wipe system partition on Redmi Note 9 Pro

Hi everybody!
I'm trying to wipe the system partition on my redmi note 9 pro to install a costum rom ( Pixel Experience).
However I'm just not able to do that because there just isn't the option: when I try to wipe all data there isn't the system partition.
I tried both with Twrp and Orange Fox.
the error I encounter is unable to update logical partition "/system_ext".
Do you know how to fix this? Fortunately my device still works, I managed not to brick it somehow. But I would really like to install the Pixel Experience
Thank you for your time, hope you'll respond soon!

No, you flash a complete image of /system and it doesn't matter if there is any data stored on it. Everything gets overwritten.

Didn't know about it. So every time I want to install a new ROM I just flash it? And thanks for the answer!

Yes, that's right. Just wipe /data when flashing a new ROM.
