If a install requires a FULL wipe, does that mean a factory reset/ data wipe/ a cache wipe and ext wipe?
if not, how to do a full wipe.
also, if i install a new recovery, does it overwrite my Nadroid backup? and can i still recover a backup if i have a new recovery. WIll the full wipe erase my backup?

since the other guy wouldnt help out. but hes right, should be asked in Q&A section.
back ur sd card up on your computer, including the nanoid backup folder, install recovery, do a fullwipe, mount your phone again and transfer the saved files back to your sd card, you will still be able to use the nanoid backup you have saved on your sd card.
as for what to wipe, im not 100% on it i just wipe all but ext3 usually.

Well now you know for yourself eh!
In recovery it won't delete it. If you do a true factory reset from within the os though it will definitely do it. Happened to me already.
Recovery just formats the data and system partitions.
Do you have to wipe the sd card on the Nexus S when redoing ROM's ?? the ics ROMs I downloaded installed correctly but on reboot will just sit on google screen. So could this be because the "SD card" needs to be reformatted?? or did i not wipe everything??

Thanks. I hope this works. I just returned my phone to stock 2.3.7, but my sd card went untouched. Too much garbage from before, so I wanted to clean that out and start new (before I go flashing a rom or anything else). I already saved what I wanted to my pc.

Like a few others said, if you go into recovery mode and wipe it you're good to go. All of your music, backups (from Astro), and whatever else will still be there . I accidentally forgot to backup while flashing a ROM once so I was panicking then I found all of my files still there. You cannot imagine the joy I had, nor my facial expression XD

So, I've changed some stuff in my phone:
Status bar, boot and shutdown animation, themes, CWM recovery, xperia Z lockscreen, a custom feature for the camera, and so on.
I didn't do a backup for all those things (I didn't know how, and I still don't), I tought I could wipe data or factory reset my phone and all these thing would be gone and my phone would be totally "factory reseted".
The question is simple, how can I reset COMPLETELY my phone? Is there any method to do it?

it might me a hassle to find your stock rom, so i would reccommend installing a custom rom. There much better.

Download a rom that you like (read some comments and see if its good), and place it on your sd card
To install a rom you must do a full wipe. To do this boot into recovery and choose: wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache partition, then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache.
Then choose install zip from sd card, and find the rom you downloaded and install it.

Yes, i also think that it's the way...with one thing to do also , to format /system in /mount and storage.

Last week I changed to paranoid rom and I want to return to 11S rom.
If I'm just restoring the nandroid backup and wipe catch and data it is as the same as fleshing it new?

Wont take u longer either
It's just easier to do(no need to root again and open the bootloader and recovery) !

There's no need to flash the ROM from scratch, a nandroid restore is perfectly fine.

Just go ahead and restore your nandroid backup, it's exactly what they're designed for. The process should wipe the necessary partitions for you but I always wipe system, data, cache, and dalvik cache first anyway just to be sure.
And no, installing a ROM doesn't erase your user data unless you do it yourself. Erasing the data partition only erases apps, settings, etc.

I recently made a nAndroid backup using TWRP. I backup System,Data, Boot. I would like to know if i make a full wipe(wipe everything except external storage), will I be able to restore it, or I just restore it without wiping anything over the current ROM ? Thanks in advance guys

If you're downgrading or upgrading your firmware then you might not be able to use your backup. but 99 percent that you're good to go!
I still don't get it. If I make a full wipe will I be able to restore the backup.

Depends on what you consider a full wipe.
If you wipe (delete) the backup, then no.
If the backup is on your sd card and you do NOT wipe the sdcard you will be able to restore.
If you delete everything on your phone EXCPET /recovery partiton and your backup you will be able to restore.
Also I don't recommend wiping the /boot partiton because A) It is required to boot the phone B) Some phones have the recovery on the /boot partition and wiping /boot would leave you without the recovery.
So basicly in 90% of time you will be able to restore (unless you really screw up)

If so, it should be akin to a factory reset. User data and apps will be gone but system should be OK.

Internal Storage in TWRP refers to the part of /data that is used specifically for "common storage" by all apps - such as media, downloads, etc.
If you want to perform a clean flash, wipe /data. This is the same as a factory reset, and if you're flashing a different ROM than what you had before, you should absolutely do this.
