Hi. Is there any list on how each Xperia Play Optimized FPS game handles the aiming controls? There are 2 types of controls: the one where you slide to aim, and the other one is like in console FPS games where you press up to aim up, then hold it to continue going up.
I am not a fan of those FPS console type aiming controls. I don't want to try out every game since most of the games have big downloads (can you even refund after waiting for a download?).
I already have Dead Trigger, Shadowgun and Dead Space, all 3 does slide to aim.
Swipe-to-Aim Controls:
• Modern Combat 2 (v3.3.9 is the latest version before they broke it!!!)
• Modern Combat 3 (v1.0.0 from the Xperia Play Wapshop)
• Modern Combat 4 (v1.0.1 from the Google Play Store)
• 9mm (Xperia Play Wapshop Version)
• Battlefield: Bad Company 2
• N.O.V.A. 2 (Xperia Play Wapshop Version)
• N.O.V.A. 3 (Earlier versions, the newer ones completely removed Xperia Play controls IIRC)
• Dead Trigger
• Critical Strike
• Shadowgun
• Dead Space
• Zeus Arena
• Six Guns
• Toon Warz
• Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard
Simulated Analog:
• Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies
• Modern Combat 2 (Newer versions from when they reset the version count)
• Modern Combat 3 (Google Play Store)
• Brothers in Arms 2
• The DEAD: Chapter One
Other:
• Splinter Cell Conviction (Has never had "good" aiming, but the latest update made the left and right analog do the same thing)
• Max Payne (Like SC: Conviction; the entire analog is all aim, and sensitivity is initially way too high)
Not sure about Modern Combat 4... don't have that one yet.
EDIT: Went ahead and bought MC4, I can verify it does use swipe-to-aim instead of simulated analog.

Modern Combat 4 is worse than MC3, but i think the Analog controlls of MC3 is great on 2.33

Modern Combat 4 version 1.0.1 (current version) is swipe.
Also i belive Max Payne is actually swipe too but very very sensitive so seams like a simulated stick. If leave finger near middle of pad it feels like one but if slide finger to edge you notice it wont keep moving like a sim analog would do. Only game i know were you can do a 180 turn on 1 swipe of pad
I don't know but Max Payne had one of the best aiming controls as far as I can remember. It's almost like Shadow Vanguard if I remember it right.
PS, my aiming control standards are that of:
1. Dead Trigger
2. R6 Shadow Vanguard
3. ShadowGun
Lol, sort of ridiculous thread. I only enjoy virtual analog and think the touch pads are crappy-ass so there isn't much point in having each of us make a list of what we think is good rather than a list of what is optimized like you can find at TLR's website. Can you elaborate on the OP as to which style you prefer, it did not come off very clear.

I think you misunderstand the thread. I am asking for a list of games that falls into the slide to aim and console stick type. Not what one prefers. I am pretty sure asking what one prefers does not fall into the Xperia Play Themes and Apps category

Ahhh, now I understand what you're saying. My bad
Max Payne has good controls, it's a bit sensible, but you can adjust that in settings
Modern Combat 4 (1.0.1) lags when you play with gamepad, don't buy the game till they fix it.

Hi fellow xda members
I thought it would be handy to post a thread with compatibility towards FPSE (version 10.54)

more games working:
Medievil 1 and 2
Devil Dice
Load Runner
Micro Machines V3 (sound and graphic glitches but still playable)
Worms Armageddon
Contra - Legacy of War - graphics glitches on Options screen
Little Big Adventure
I've been playing with on screen button settings and see you can get L1/2 and R1/2 displayed for games that require L2/R2
Chrono cross fully works. No real frameskip problems.
Tomba 2 works perfectly.
Driver works perfectly.
Persona 2 - Tsumi works fine, juste a few frame skipped when entering a battle.
So when I get the Play where do I get these games from?
Do I have to use bit-torrent as I don't really want to use it, or is there a converter for the old PS1 games that I have?
http://www.google.com/search?client...rceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest I'm sure there is a guide somewhere that'll help you to back-up your games.

You could also assign them to your volume rockers and assign multiple keys to one button for example in final fantasy 8 where you need L2 & R2 To escape battle
But ty for the addition and the rest I feel we have a nice list to come

Another update from me, been ripping all my games to .bin with magic iso!!
Loaded: All full speed apart from the music which slows down every few seconds (this seems to a usual thing with games that have cd audio tracks)
Rapid Racer: Same as above
Motorhead: Glitchy graphics and wierd music but still playable
Carnage Hearts - Program those bots
Carnage Hearts - Working
anyone can try PES or Winning Eleven please?
Silent Hill - used to work almost perfectly in older FPse version, only problem was voices in cutscenes were completely out of order and random, made for some really funny cutscenes though!
but since 10.36 and 10.38, the game runs but no controls work at all in-game. even the on screen ones dont work!
Worth a look if you're into games like Zenonia.

Does this just run on the Xperia Play or do the buttons work? People keep posting games that aren't optimised here and I don't want to spend money on a game that uses the touch screen. Thanks
Get Game Keyboard. It'll let you map touchscreen games to the Xperia Play controller.

Yep, the buttons work. I don't make topics for games unless they work with Xperia Play's buttons.
You can; however, use GameKeyboard if you want to change which buttons do which functions (if you like to customize).
Images are pixelated and the front image is a re-drawn image of regret in zenonia 4, gameplay is a bit close to inotia. Seems like its a rip off on some other games merged to re-create 1.
sent on my r800i running on markpythons ICS
Thanks TLR I will grab this, knowing it's optimised

Wow, it seems really nice! An HD remake of a great classic! Is it optimized with touchpads?
Just brought this for my Xperia Z and must say it is now my favourite fighter on the store. Don't get me wrong I love the classic 2D fighters as it's what I grew up on, but this HD remake feels more like an up to date made for mobile quality title and not the original I had and loved.
BTW - What did the game cost you? (anyone that brought it legally).
It states the first 2 weeks it's on offer but it cost me over £4 UK (around $6 - 7 US I belive), that would make this an expensive game for Android when it increases further if this is the proper sale price.
Just some info to add to the OPs link:

Has anyone else on Gingerbread noticed that you are able to move up and down the main menu using the left touchpad? Nothing else works at all, just that. Very strange.
It runs pretty well on my xplay
rom xelite gamer (last version) , kernel lupus gb v12 @1,6ghz
Too bad the controls won't work though.
It's definitly not soul blade, I'm not sure if it's really like soulcalibur 1. I haven't played this game for too long.
Soul Edge (ソウルエッジ Sōru Ejji?) is a 1995 3D arcade fighting game developed by the team Project Soul and published by Namco. It is the first installment in the Soul series of weapon-based fighting games. An upgraded and expanded version of the game was ported to the PlayStation later that same year. Namco chose to use the title Soul Blade in Europe, North America and Australia. The game was a commercial and critical success and was followed by a several sequels, beginning with Soulcalibur in 1998.(wiki)

nothing new ^^ I know about this stuff, the game soulcalibur on android is not soulblade/edge
I have played soulcalibur1 on my friend's dreamcast long time ago so I can't say if it's really this games graphics.
All I can say is that it has better graphics than soulblad but worse than soulcalibur2
Looks very nice, I hope I can play it smoothly with no lags at all.

LIST OF GAMES I PLAY
FarmVille2 - Playable ( but experienced LAG sometimes)
Framed - playable ( no LAGS)

LIMBO - Playable (no LAGS)
Sniper Hitman - Playable ( LAGS most of time when Aiming and reloading)
Subway Surfer - Playable ( but new updates are ruining smoothness)
Virtua Tennis - Playable ( No LAGS)
This War of Mine - Playable ( consumes so much juice )
asphalt 8 (high graphics - lots of framedrops only when car is crashed and other minor framedrops while racing)
nova 3 - (framedrops but still playable)
GTA vc (lags a lot even at 50% resolution - 30-33% resolution recommended for smoother play)
gt racing 2 (unplayable - lots of framedrops, but I tried older version, haven't checked latest one)
wild blood (working perfectly)
hitman go (working perfectly)
nfs most wanted (working perfectly)
dead trigger 2(working perfectly)
Disney duck tales (working perfectly)
monument valley (working perfectly)
Almost every game is playable on this device.
Did anyone try Batman Draknight Rises?? is it playable??
Every game I've tried runs just fine. These are just the more graphically demanding games I play without problem.
Dead Trigger 2 - Medium quality, high works as well with occasional stutter in massive battles.
Unkilled - Autodetect
Shadowgun DeadZone - Ultra quality
Modern Combat 5 - High quality
Critical Strike Portable
But I have also played these with no stuttering or lag.
Asphalt 8
Real Racing 3
Loe's Fortune
Dead Effect 2
Dark Meadow: The Pact
Simple Rockets runs well and Simple Planes plays fine, even without a gyroscope.
Here is some Asphalt 8 gameplay on high setting. Could be smoother, screen recorder software doesn't help. But overall not bad in my opinion.
