Out of curiosity, what color phone do you have? Care to take a pic?
I have a scratch on the back of my phone as well. I saw it as soon as I took the phone out of the box. It almost goes across the back right above the HTC logo.

Havent received mine today (I've got white on the way), but based on the material finish and type, I feel inclined to suggest that a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser might do the trick since it's mildy mildly MILDLY abrasive but not enough to scratch the finish, but rather remove any surface impurities (similar to clay-barring a car's paint finish).

I have the grey HOX. I am still trying to figure out how it did scratch since it is in my pocket by itself all the time.
Will post pictures later
Maybe you can try some really really fine sandpaper to get back the matte finish. Don't try anything used for polishing.

Polycarbonate, from Wikipedia:
Polycarbonate is a very durable material. Although it has high impact-resistance, it has low scratch-resistance...

While encasing the phone in polycarbonate may make it nigh invulnerable, it does not ensure that it will remain pretty for its lifetime. Restoring polycarbonate to a gloss would be no issue (see headlight restoration), but restoring a matte finish will probably be difficult. I plan to Otterbox it and forget about it.

Already got the Otterbox on her...def takes away from the form factor, but I think I will leave it on for a while...just seems so sturdy, and protects the camera better than any other case I've seen thus far.
hi everyone, i have a quick question.
i noticed yesterday that my screen was starting to come loose on the top corner of my phone, i could push it back in and within 10 min it was back out. (this also happened on my htc inspire)
i returned the phone to at&t and my new one is more solid but i do notice that it does push in the bezel a tiny bit also on all corners and sides.
do i have another bad phone? is anyone else seeing this with there phone?
thx for the help
it flexes a bit with light pressure, but if the problem is severe or impedes the use of the phone, then return/exchange it.
my first phone was fine at first but then the right corner popped out about a 16th of an inch from the back case and the other side was fine. the phone was still fine to use though.
i am wondering if the tiny bit of flex around the edge is normal or if mine will eventually work loose again.
Mine is a bit creaky around the top and bottom but I dont think it is worth taking back for
I exchanged my first HOX because of this. It started in one corner and then quickly spread to three.

how is the new one does the screen push in at all around the edges? my new one does slightly also do you mind letting me know what rev the build is. min is rev.2 on my box label.
thx
New one is rock solid. That rev2 is most likely just the packaging. The different hardware versions are HT23, HT24, etc... Mine is an HT24.

the screen is coming off the black metal bezel, don't you remove the bezel and screen as one piece when removing the back casing?
i guess if it does happen again i can just peel off the screen and glue it back down to the metal casing.

I guess there are many who have never had issues with the glass , or hell anything for that matter .. I'm included... You could take it back and give your replacement a good test while still in store , and if you glue your phone and something else happens to go wrong ... Good luck trying to explain that

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone who has been using the HOX naked has had any issues with the matte finish wearing off and becoming glossy? When the phone was first released, I heard a bit that this might happen, so I wanted to see how everyone is fairing.
I bought my HOX on day 1 and got one of the OEM HTC cases (blue one with horizontal slots along the whole back).. and its been HORRIBLE! The casing is so thin that it started to crack in the corner when I removed it to clean or change my SIM card. Eventually, a piece of the case broke off. I then checked my One X and found out that dust had been trapped underneath and because it was loose, scuffed up the whole bottom of my phone! It was a complete waste of $20. So now I'm thinking about going nude for the time being.
Rocking it naked without an issue. Having a sleeve custom made, though, just to have a little bit of protection while running around. Pics will be posted once I finally get a chance to pick it up.
Grey. Naked since day one. No problems.

Just thought I'd throw this out there. My naked white is still incredibly clean. Rubbing it slight removes all small blemishes. I still haven't had any major mishaps with the white but I'm fairly confident that it will come off easily if I get proper cleaning materials. King of surprised by how clean it is really.

This sounds pretty good guys, doesnt sound like i need to worry much about being naked
No its fine naked. Just like the post have mentioned. A good minimal case that adds no bulk really is the case mate barely there case. If you need a case I recommend you check that out. It is very very thin and looks good. Just in case you decide you want to try a case.

The matte finish is definitely starting to wear and I don't believe it will hold up. Look very closely and under bright light right by the speaker grill where the phone normally rests when sitting on a surface. There is a bit of wear in the matte finish. I can confirm this on two different device. These are white ones. This is too bad because I was really hoping the case on this phone would be super durable. With the way HTC talked it up it sounded indestructible. Looks like it's time to see how well the s3 case is holding up for people...
Nothing makes me cringe more than a beautiful design hidden behind a case. But, I also feel for those whose naked phones go flying to the ground.

Naked. There is a very slight "chin" on back just below the "beats audio" logo.
This is the area that touches whatever surface the phone is set down on. On my HOX this area is starting to "smooth" very slightly. Noticeable by eye really and only in good light. Not causing me any concern.
The One X just feels too good in hand to put a case on. :good:

The One S had a ceramic coating that would chip off and reveal the metal underneath. Our phone is plastic.

I stand corrected. For some reason I though all the One series did this...mah bad!
I recently got an ArmorSuit screen protector, and applied it like I did all other wet application screen protectors. However, I guess as I was squeezing out the liquid, some got under the screen, as there is a dark, cloudy area around the border that looks like it's water damage. When turned off completely, there also is a light on in the corners. Meaning in a dark room, I can see it has some faint light in two of the corners turned on. Lastly, there is also a brighter strip of light down the middle that is about a centimeter in width and starts from the bottom of the screen to half way.
It's been about 24 hours since application, and I've left it off in a bucket of rice for those 24 hours. My question is whether or not this will go away with more time or if I'm just SOL.
Mine never dried out. I had the exact same thing happen. Replacing the LCD and digitizer was my only solution.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Very sorry to hear. This should be a word of caution to everyone who uses those types of protectors. I don't because they simply are too rubbery and unnatural but another reason is the weird feeling I have when spraying water on my phone.
For future reference, I always wrap the squeegee in a paper towel so that it absorbs the water as soon as it squeezes out from under the screen protector. I have never had any water get under the screen of my phone using this method.
Sent from my One X using xda premium
So I just booted it on again, and noticed that some of the grayish/cloudy parts disappeared, there's still some there, but I think it means it's going away, however the brighter strip of light is still there and there's some light flickering in the bottom and corners. Does this go away as it dries or am I stuck looking for a replacement screen?
This just happened to me. It's quite unfortunate, as I'm out of warranty (bootloader unlocked, lol), and the only option it seems I have is to replace the LCD and Digitizer. I'm going to try the good ol' rice trick, hopefully that'll fix it.
Sorry to hear this fellas, could have happened to anyone. You would expect the manufacturer to test the application of their products.... Hopefully the rice will help!

Why in the world would you use these terrible protectors anyway? Assuming you actually managed to get it installed without wrecking your phone, its still the worst. They feel sticky and rubbery.
Don't use this junk.
same thing happened to me, but worse. I got the armorsuit millitaryshield, sprayed the stuff on my phone, the phone screen went really dark, my new htc one x i bought less then a month ago for 500 dollars!!!!, it is really dim, but if you look closely you can kinda see but it needs to be really bright like when it boots up the one x white screen i can kinda see that cause it's really bright. I think a light or something in there broke cause of the liquid!! I contacted amazon, they refunded me for the screen protector and they said they might be able to do something for my phone, i also contacted the manufacter yesterday, no response yet....
I am really mad, cause i doubt it can get fixed, cause i bought it from someone who owned it for a couple of months, but never took it out of the box, so pretty much brand new just never used and i don't use it on att use it on h2o cause it cheaper. Anyone have any ideas or anything?

I agree, but my droid x never needed a screen protector it was so resistant to scratches on the screen, i may have got 1 or 2 little scratches after 2 and 3 months. my htc one x has like 5 long scratches after less then a month. did you contact armorsuit about it breaking your phone, it's been almost 2 days for me and no replies. Amazon has been quick to respond and everything, and they said they can't do anything about the phone cause no one had a similar problem according to the reviews, but now i have this, but they did refund me for screen protector, they said to contact armorshield for the phone. I said what if they don't reply, like people said they don't on the amazon reviews, the guy said my manager will call you on the 18th and see if we could do anything about the phone, if they don't fix it or pay for a new phone, how much will a new lcd+digitzer+putting it on cost?
if that is the problem, seems the only problem with the phone atm is the fact is its really dim, i think like a light in there broke or something from the screen protector liquid.
Getting the screen replaced is $220, if that's what you were asking. (it's kinda hard to tell from your wording.)

I sent my htc one x out to htc, they said they might not be able to cover it under warranty since i bought it from a third party, even though i paid 500 dollars -_- and it's only been used for a week from previous owner and it broke in less then month from a screen protectors, amazon told me to contact them if i am charged with anything from htc, they said they might be able to do something about it.
Can anybody recommend any dry screen protectors? so i can have it ahead of time, so i can apply it on the new screen once i get, so i have no scratches.
I bought the Zagg Invisible Shield HD protector. Wet application. Feels like glass. No rubbery feeling. But I make sure always when squeegeing, that I use cloth and soak up the solution as I get to the edges. Not one problem here. Sorry for your misfortune.

Well I don't know what are you doing with your phone but mine is like new! Also I don't get why a lot of people complain about the pre installed screen protector, it's great and best of all it's free!
Mine is still like it isn't there. The only downside is fingerprint sensor.
I've had my phone for just over a month and the original protector is perfect. I've had the phone in and out of cases several times and there is no peeling and no marks. It feels smooth, like glass, and is clear and clean. Like I said, perfect. ?
I actually bought screen protectors with the phone, unaware that one would be fitted already, and I've had no reason to switch. FWIW I'm also using the included clear case, even though I bought a few others. Goog job, Samsung.
I had a small tear, and I wanted to see if its glass or cover, - so felt the cover kinda coming off and had to peel it eventually. But it was kinda loose too

It is great actually. The wings that wrap around go just a tiny bit towards the back glass and do not affect the look of the black glass. The wings also help secure the protector from lifting off the edges
I also put a skin on the back to get rid of the fingerprints you get on the black N20U .

I was looking for a topic like this haha. My one actually developed a few bubbles and I had to peel it off a couple of days ago. I received my unit in early September.
I am now struggling to find a good protector that works well with a case. Tried Ringkie but the protector was a way smaller than my phone!! Looks like it was a faulty batch. Tried another one - Apiker, and it peeled off when I putted my phone to my Spigen case despite Apiker advertising it won't.
I am now stranded in the middle of nowhere. Don't know what to buy to have a bubble-free screen and compatible with my Spigen case. Ordered the Spigen screen protector but it has mixed reviews...
I now regret I removed the original one.

Just get the one of the ones mentioned earlier to tied you over . They're a dry applied 3 or 4 stage peel type. I think most are made by the same factory. Leaves about 2mm on edges almost like the factory applied gap.

I couldn't find a single dry protector that would be bubble free and compatible with a case. No matter how hard I try to follow the instructions the protector either has bubbles/spots or peels off when phone is in a case. It just doesn't stick firmly. I will try my luck with Spigen wet protector. It should be compatible with Spigen cases as advertised. Already spent around 40 pounds on different protectors with no luck. I wish Samsung could offer the service for a fee. Their factory screen protector was attached perfectly.
I still have pre-installed screen protector on mine too and it's sitting well and is like new still.
