Some days ago i tried to replace memory chips in HTC Magician to increase memory to 128mb, but i had a problem.
After replacement the system has not seen full volume.... only 64mb
May be somebody know how to make it?
Regular BGA RAM p/n hyb25l256160ac-7.5 x 2 (2*32mb)
Upgrade BGA RAM p/n hyb25l512160ac-7.5 x 2 (2x64mb)
i don't think you can stack the memory on the magician. is that what you have done? according to the ppctechs website you can't do it.
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/detail.asp?Product_ID=JAM-064-128RAM
I used chips of the same manufacturer... the same series... only greater volume.
It is not necessary to modify any in ROM... as at loading OS it defines how many memory is installed. Here problem in other... In old IPAQs it is necessary to move some resistor .... A question only what
According to ppctechs, they replace the 64mb chip with a 128mb chip, not 2x 64mb chips. you may need to use a 128mb chip.
no comments.
P.S. look at hardware pictures.
how can i download the magician
Download what?
You have to rub the magic lamp 3 times while closing your eyes and facing north.

Where can you buy those RAM-modules?
BTW, maybe the instructions can give you any hints in where you have gone wrong and if you need any resistors etc:
http://www.infineon.com/cmc_upload/documents/011/8819/HYB25L128160AC_2003-02.pdf
i think that you need some kind of softwere to make it work
i copyed this from ppc techs:
Q: Are your upgrades compatible with Pocket PC 2003?
A: Our upgrades have been fully tested with the release version of Pocket PC 2003 and are completely compatible. On most systems, PPC2003 does not support the 128MB natively, so our proprietary driver is still required. You will need a new copy of the driver for 2003. To obtain a new copy from us, please do the following:
Install your current version of the T2T Driver and soft-reset the system. Next, go into T2T Utility, turn on debug mode, exit the utility and soft-reset the system. Then email the T2TDisk.txt file located in the \Temp directory to [email protected] with a note requesting a 2003 driver.
I have an upgraded JAM by PPC Techs, and I can tell you that the T2T driver is NOT needed for this upgrade. (It was needed for my iPaq 4350 that I had upgraded last year)
PS And No, I am not going to open up my JAM to take pictures

Just a note, in case someone asks for a developer to fix it:
SDHC requires a HARDWARE upgrade
Therefore we will never get it on our Uni's (although the Omni will support it )

SDHC does NOT require hardware upgrade to any of the existing devices. It is just a minor software change in sd host driver, and an updated SDMemory.dll that is provided by MS since WM6 aku 0.2 (of cause OEM should include it in image instead of the old version)
As none of the developers have SDHC card to test - noone of us can make this patch.
P.S. Omni is a trash. Running OS on the same chip as a radio would definitely cause performance issues. Only an accelerated video card would help a bit, but only in graphics.
We wait the patch or the hardware upgrade. Meanwhile ...
Is possible to use a USB enclosure with 2.5 hard disk using the miniUSB connector in the back, I understand?
Experience with this storage solution?
Maximum Storage?
Speed better than SD Cards?

My mistake.
I had read that the difference between SD and HCSD was different addressing (block vs byte) - and understood that the chips that read the card dealt with addressing - hence the only way to upgrade was to change chips.

A Windows Mobile device cannot be a USB host:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/En-US/library/aa932230.aspx
However, if the other device supports USB OTG (On-The-Go) then it may be able to connect to a WM6 device:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/En-US/library/bb202176.aspx
This may require some serious hacking, as our Uni's do not have the drivers for this
Additionally, the mini-usb is not powered, so your external hard drive needs to be plugged into a power supply (ie mains power) - severely reducing its usefulness.

that would make sense as Vodaphone uk did say they had 4gb on theirs but i dont see that anymore. Also HTC said it was 4gb internal with 1gb for user storage. I dont see that anywhere. Im happy with 1gb user storage as i have 512mb on my partition for desire and its more than enough.
16 gig internal sd card yes... 16 gig internal memory no !
He probably thought that the sd-card goes inside the phone, so it's internal.
If there is a 16gb version of this phone, then HTC would have announced it in April.

A 16gb Sensation would probably end up similar to the 16gb Samsung as far as what's available for users. Isn't the regular "1gb" Sensation 4gb with 3gb going to the system and 1gb leftover? If so, then a 16gb Sensation would be 13gb available to users. And less than that if we count formatting losses.
Apparently, Samsung have lied. What they've done is tell us it's 16gb, but they've included RAM, ROM, and apps space in that 16gb. Here's the breakdown:
available to users: 11.5gb
RAM: 1gb
ROM: 1gb
Apps space: 1.5gb
That adds up to a total of 15.5gb. It seems reasonable that the other 500mb would be for formatting.
Ok first of all, i'm OK with the 764MB of ram, actually.
But it's good to know if there is any posibility, of having a 1GB of ram, because there is a lot of phones, with a hiden ram.
Xperia X10 is suposed to have 256, but really have 320, HTC HD2 442mb, 512 real, and other phones with "hidden ram" so, maybe our sensations have 1GB but it's hidden, or unabled!!!
What do you think? there is any way to know that?
thanks
Yes it is possible, like with rom, officialy it is 1GB, but it is 4GB ! 3GB is hidden for system, updates, etc. With s-off and root we could change this. Also in case of ram: 768 is not popular, ram chips are 0,25, 0,5; 1, 2 usual, I dont understand why htc rask manager shows 556 MB (100-180 free), but android running apps shows different number (280-300 MB free)... someone would need to disassemble sensation and look on chips numeration....

While chip is definitely 4gb, it has been formatted to reduce capacity but increase speed. No, you will not get 4gb out of it no matter what you do, once it's formatted that way - there's no way back. There are no "hidden" partitions, nothing is reserved for future updates or any other BS like that.
Ram memory is definitely 768MB. While it's not the most popular size, it has been used before (MyTouch 4G, Incredible S, Desire HD to name few). You will not see all of it in any task manager because 100+ MB is reserved for stuff below OS level (radio, gpu, etc) which is absolutely ridiculous but that's the way HTC does things.
If anyone is wondering, Android's running apps is most likely showing the correct number of free memory.

Can anyone help me, i want to upgrade my phones RAM first of all is it possible if so then how.
mobile devices aren't like pc's - you cannot solder in more ram into the soc .
however you could use swap similar to virtual memory in windows where in a portion of your sdcard will house a swap file onto to which some stuff will be off loaded when running out of memory
You can't upgrade RAM as it's already prebuilt in, the best bet is to update to the latest firmware which includes improvements and close apps that isn't being used

Not quite sure what these other people have been drinking, but a RAM chip is soldered onto the main board of current phones. This is not simply 'upgradeable', nor will any manufacturer notify you or even offer a RAM upgrade for your phone.
If it is possible, then you will need a ram chip for a phone that runs on the same voltage and amps, heat the soldering around your current chip on the main board (which can cause immense damage to the phone and give you a nice, shiny brick), pry it off, replace with new RAM chip, reheat it into place. Then hoping the phone accepts it and doesn't just lie there, making smoke and sparks.
No you can't. Just real PC, no phones or tabs.

Yup. On SOME phones with VERY good soldering skills you might be able to replace the RAM chip.
However based on how the OP asked the question, I don't think they have the skills to replace the RAM chip without destroying their device.
Also, many devices now use PoP (Package-on-Package) RAM where the RAM chip is actually ON TOP OF the CPU chip - it is nearly impossible to rework PoP RAM without destroying the device. Heck, it's tough enough to even manufacture - I believe BeagleBoard was delayed quite a bit due to PoP manufacturing issues.
For now only can reduce the ram usage
Hey man your best bet is custom rom as in it we can remove useless apps and make more memory free but you lose your warranty but hacking your phone in best part as god forbid something goes wrong you can take your phone to customer care centre and say i don't know what happened and they will fix your phone. So any time you want custom rom message me I'll help you out

That is not entirely true. Open source is a term that applies to open and available documentation and resources that shows you the internals of either software or hardware. Open Source means that the originator/creator of what you are looking at is generous enough to share the "blue prints" on how to make said item. As such, hardware can also be open source.
