How to update dock firmware? - Asus Transformer TF700

Just bought a new infinity and new "Infinity" dock (the one with the sticker that says it's compatible with TF700) but my dock firmware is 105. How do I update? The tablet updated but I received no update for the dock?

If you have stock firmware, as soon as you plugged in your dock it should update, if it not updating, you just reflash Asus full firmware with tablet in the dock.

Nope.

This is probably a dumb question, but how the heck do we tell which FW version the dock is?

go to settings -> about tablet--> mobildock version (the last one at the bottom of the list). Latest version should be 0207

Is there a list of versions for the dock? My fairly new dock shows MobileDock version: DOCK-EC21N-0105 even after updating to the official stock JellyBean firmware using OTA update.
-- edit --
My dock is apparently one of the TF500 docks, it shows as DOCK-EC21N-0105, the firmware ending in 0207 appears to be for the TF201/Prime dock (DOCK-EC20N-0207)

My Dock version is: DOCK-EC20N-0207 and I was told when I bought it that it was the old dock and it just had a sticker on it lol covering the TF201 that said TF700.

Yep! Lol. :good:

If i'm rooted and on jb, would the ota appear for the dock?

The dock firmware is part of the normal system image (look in /system/etc/firmware/EC). I don't know what triggers its installation.

I believe that dock firmware is normally updated automatically when needed when installing the tablet firmware (if needed)... At least thats how I remember it (there really aren't many dock updates).

Alright I got the answer. Only the people who have the tf201 dock get the current 207 updates. For those of you who have the tf500dock or the tf700 docks, the. 105 firmware is the most recent. I that's why some people don't get update prompts for the dock and some do

[Q] Apps are stopping...

Just got my Infinity today, I've notice quite a lot of apps are having force-close issues. Mainly default browser, chrome, google maps. Also, the "Asus Weather" widget did't show anything, updating the settings made it force close. Tried to remove it from the screen, but then, trying to add it, i will not even be placed on the screen without closing..
Anyone know why or how to fix this?
Root it, and install io scheduler should help. But yes, its becoming apparent that the tf700 have this problem.

The firmware released is TW, you have WW (world-wide), you might want to wait a few days for the update specifically for your version. I will.

Yes. TW means Taiwan. Because ASUS is a Taiwanese company, so they make a version for their country, i think this tablet was released in Taiwan a long time ago.

Replacing Firmware

Hello all
I bought my Infinity from China yesterday.
I want to replace the firmware with US or UK or even UAE
Is there anywhere I can find these?
I saw the Asus firmware update thread but I don't think that'll help...
Thanks
Also, any chance I can use the Prime's firmware for the Infinity or not?

It seems you can flash the WW firmware, as you have tried in the other thread (I'm just putting that up here for reference for new readers).

Still working on that one... Since it looks like I'm the only one who can't do this, I'm gonna assume I need root and go ahead and do it.

Thought so
AFAIK you don't need root for that. Just follow the steps and remember not to miss any (the filename, the filesystem etc.).
Yup. Never needed root, nor did I venture there... yet
I'll definitely go for it soon though
Thanks again. Update flashing worked out just fine

[Q] Differences between .30 US which was pulled, and new .30?

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the US .30 firmware that was pulled from the ASUS site earlier this week, and the one that is posted there now?
No I don't. If you are going to mark something as a question though, why not put it in the Q and A section...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app
I noticed that the firmware filename now contains the date, which is new. However, the date on the file in 9/7/12, so I believe it's the same as the original .30 version. I sure hope they wouldn't release a different ROM with the same version anyway!
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
I believe that even the ASUS firmware development team would have enough sense to bump the patch level number in the version string (i.e. .30 -> .31) if they had actually changed a publicly available release in any discernible way.
Maybe the US version was pulled from the site earlier this week, but it's clearly there now. Just checked.

It was more of a General question than a Question question, so I figured here would be appropriate.
Also, if you're not going to provide an informative answer, why would you respond?

Asus took it down very shortly after they had placed it online. No one knows why but it is assumed there was some bug/bugs in it that they didnt want to reach our tablets. Too late for a lot of us. But it's been made available by some members here. I'm sure someone will let you have the link to their copy if they read this post.

I suspect ASUS has stopped the 4.2.1 OTA update as well. I recently replaced the motherboard of my tf700 and ASUS Service Center restored my tablet back to 4.1.1. Since then, no matter how I check, there is no OTA update to 4.2. Nevertheless, this actually makes me really happy, because I pleasantly realize that 4.1 is actually much faster than 4.2, UI is a lot more responsive, stock browser is faster, no app crashing as well. Furthermore, the recent app screen is back to the left edge of the screen, the way I always want it to be. ASUS can take all the time they need to fix 4.2 (if there are indeed problems with it), I'm happy with 4.1.1.

Depending what ASUS did, your serial numbers may no longer match in ASUS servers, which could be another reason as to why you are not receiving updates OTA. If this is true, then you will not be able to unlock either.

I was thinking about this possibility as well, but here is the tricky part: When I received my tablet back from ASUS Service Center, I specifically asked them whether my tablet could receive OTA updates, because when I sent it to them, it was on 4.2 instead of 4.1. After checking for quite some time, the technician said that he had checked ASUS Server and reassured me that my firmware was the latest that they had (he said that the 4.2 update did not exist in their internal server, even though he was aware of the update). Together with the fact that ASUS removed the 4.2 firmware from their website, I suspect that the OTA update is not available as well.
Obviously all of this is just my speculation, as it could simply be the case that ASUS screwed up my serial number (it is still the same though). Since there is no update currently available except for the 4.2 update (I'm on the latest firmware for 4.1), I have no way to check if the OTA update service is working properly.
Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I just would like to know why they pulled it. Makes me nervous to install one of the ones from the links, if there is something wrong is there going back to 4.1? I know with my tf300 once you went to 4.2 there was no going back.

No it is fine, but there are issues the can sometimes break bluetooth, but it is easy to revert back to 4.1.1. I have those links posted elsewhere and people have used them with no trouble.

It should. There are many good ones out there. I personally am using cromix 5.4 and crombikk. Both of them are great and don't have lag issues. Crombikk is still in a beta phase so there are bugs still being worked out. Cromix is stock based and is very smooth and stable.

Well, if you have installed a custom recovery then I would say do a nandroid backup in recovery, install a custom ROM and see how it goes. If you don't like it you can always just retire the nandroid backup.
