Flash back to original stock? - Asus Transformer TF700

Is it possible to flash everything back to stock (incase i want to give the tf700 back)?

Everything can be flashed back to stock, but it cannot have the bootloader locked again.

At the very first part of the boot process. The screen that says Asus, in the top left corner it will read this tablet is unlocked.

I just got my tf700 and its really laggy and slow do you think a custom rom will solve that problem?

It should. There are many good ones out there. I personally am using cromix 5.4 and crombikk. Both of them are great and don't have lag issues. Crombikk is still in a beta phase so there are bugs still being worked out. Cromix is stock based and is very smooth and stable.

My battery life is pretty bad too. It drops 10% in 12 minutes... Brightnes set to 70% and ips+ is off, of course.

Well, if you have installed a custom recovery then I would say do a nandroid backup in recovery, install a custom ROM and see how it goes. If you don't like it you can always just retire the nandroid backup.

my dock does not charge my tablet. The baattry on the tablet goes down... Could it be a sofware bug is it broken?

That's not normal. Enable "Show CPU usage" in developer options to see which process is heating your CPU.

You have to unzip the downloaded file once. The result will be another zip file.
Flash that second zip in TWRP.

Firmware update failed

I just purchased this tablet today and quickly rooted it. I've since tried to upgrade my firmware and its failed 3 straight times. It'll reboot and begin the update, then fail midway thru, leaving an android dude with an exclamation mark. Then it boots back up and gives a message that the update failed. If anyone can help me figure this out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Have you done the build prop tweak? Have You installed any of the themed apps? Have you removed any of the original files in /system?
For me, no, no, and no. All I've done is give it root.

Flash the .17 blob (and probably do a factory reset for good measure) and reroot. Don't touch anything else, and do the update. That should get you where you want to be. A lot of hassle, but I think it's the only way. You definitely don't need to return your tablet.

any brick protection?

I am very close to unlocking my tablet and installing cromi. unfortunately i updated to jb before finding out that the jb bootloader blocks nvflash. My question is is there any brick protection other than nvflash? Also what kind of mistakes would i have to make in order to get a brick? Oh and one more question. Don't i need the most recent bootloader to install chromi anyway? Wouldn't that eliminate the possibility of using nvflash? sorry for all the newby questions but i want to make sure i fully understand this whole process before unlocking

I afraid nvflash is the only one. Most of people brick their device is due to their mistakes. Using an older version of custom recovery and try to wipe data is the main cause of 99.9% of bricking. Once you have the latest bootloader and the most recent or latest custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) you pretty much brick safe. I flashed over 10 times a week and I don't have nvflash. Don't be afraid go for it.

Yes, brick if use old recovery with JB bootloader. If you have the latest recovery and JB bootloader you can wipe what ever you want, should be fine. In the beginning just ask before you attempt to do anything, until you got the hang then you can be on your own.

It will only do so if your bootloader is unlocked and you are rooted. Otherwise you must fastboot the recovery. After fastbooting the recovery you should be good.

Ok good. Ya I already know how to install it. Just making sure it would install the latest version and I wouldn't have problems. So far I've found zero problems with the build quality and I haven't had any issues that would indicate a factory defect. Would it be safe to go ahead and unlock or should I wait a bit longer?

I personally dont think you will have any problem whatsoever so go for it! But, There is always that chance so just make sure you follow everything step by step. And I think it is safe to unlock. I did so only after a month of being clueless and researching on xda and my tablet runs fine, except I enjoy experimenting so never have my tablet fully customized lol. Also cant wait for 4.2.1 Cromi!

Haha as was I, but it is worth it in the end. If you read all the reviews of tf700's being bricked, it is not because they unlocked and installed a custom recovery, it is later when they try flashing newer roms that are not compatible with their bootloaders and their recoveries that cause the britck. If everything is kept up to date, which I wait a week or so to make sure no one encounters problems before updating a recovery, then you should have no problems.

think I'll put it on back burner for now until it's worked on more.
do you have any ideas?
I found a link for Facebook Home I'm gonna work on next.
I've also heard that the new Wi-Fi optimization setting in JB 4.2 and your wonderful new Xenogenesis adjusts Wi-Fi radio power. if that's so, then maybe adjusting Wi-Fi tx power might work now. think I'll work on that too.
I think photosphere requires specific hardware that Asus just don't have.
ok. I thought we had necessary hardware.
Out of curiosity, what kind of hardware do the Nexus gadgets have that the Transformer doesn't that prevents us from installing Photosphere? Pixie dust dispenser?

I suspect ASUS has stopped the 4.2.1 OTA update as well. I recently replaced the motherboard of my tf700 and ASUS Service Center restored my tablet back to 4.1.1. Since then, no matter how I check, there is no OTA update to 4.2. Nevertheless, this actually makes me really happy, because I pleasantly realize that 4.1 is actually much faster than 4.2, UI is a lot more responsive, stock browser is faster, no app crashing as well. Furthermore, the recent app screen is back to the left edge of the screen, the way I always want it to be. ASUS can take all the time they need to fix 4.2 (if there are indeed problems with it), I'm happy with 4.1.1.

Depending what ASUS did, your serial numbers may no longer match in ASUS servers, which could be another reason as to why you are not receiving updates OTA. If this is true, then you will not be able to unlock either.

I was thinking about this possibility as well, but here is the tricky part: When I received my tablet back from ASUS Service Center, I specifically asked them whether my tablet could receive OTA updates, because when I sent it to them, it was on 4.2 instead of 4.1. After checking for quite some time, the technician said that he had checked ASUS Server and reassured me that my firmware was the latest that they had (he said that the 4.2 update did not exist in their internal server, even though he was aware of the update). Together with the fact that ASUS removed the 4.2 firmware from their website, I suspect that the OTA update is not available as well.
Obviously all of this is just my speculation, as it could simply be the case that ASUS screwed up my serial number (it is still the same though). Since there is no update currently available except for the 4.2 update (I'm on the latest firmware for 4.1), I have no way to check if the OTA update service is working properly.
Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I just would like to know why they pulled it. Makes me nervous to install one of the ones from the links, if there is something wrong is there going back to 4.1? I know with my tf300 once you went to 4.2 there was no going back.
