Heytell with Jelly Bean? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I was wondering if anyone is using Heytell with Jelly Bean? Heytell is one of the cleanest and simplest walkie talkie apps, and I rely on it a fair bit.
Every since I upgraded to Jelly Bean (CleanRom 5.5.1), Heytell is behaving oddly. I can send or receive 1 message, and the rest of the message will be stuck and won't download or send. I have to kill the Heytell app, before I can receive the next message. If I have 2 messages waiting, then I have to kill heytell again, before the 2nd message will download.
Once I restore my phone back to ICS, heytell is back to normal.
It's possible that this is just an odd behavior on my phone, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this on Jelly Bean.

I had that EXACT problem with CleanRom 5.5.1! Did the exact same thing for a solution too.
Eventually, I moved to my preferred rom of euroskank and HeyTell functions as normal.
But as least we know it wasn't an isolated case...

I'd guess the app isn't fully compatible/updated to work with jelly bean yet..

HA, thank you for your feedback! I knew I wasn't crazy.

Yes, it's based off of CM 10.1 with cherry picked features that aren't officially merged into CM yet.. It's the bleeding edge.

I and anyone I know with an S3 have this exact same issue with Heytell as well. Doenst seem like Voxillate is doing anything about it as their responses to support requests are they will send it to the engineers. Not sure if it is jellybean only as one friend has the original stock ATT ICS rom and it hangs for him as well. Very annoying...

Kakaotalk on Android

Anyone using this app on Android experiencing major battery drain?
I am using a Nexus S, flashed with the latest CM9 Nightly build. The app drains 15% of my battery life even when I only occasionally use it. I can't uninstall it cause its the only chat app that some of my friends use.
I have emailed the developer about this issue about 6 months ago, but they still havent addressed it. Is there anything else I can do?
No one uses Kakaotalk here on JB or ICS?

I am also using it on the Galaxy Nexus GSM running Jelly Bean ROM 4.1.1 it does not matter what ROM I use I cannot connect to Kakaotalk server. I always get the symbol that says I am connected but as soon as I try and send someone a messege than it says that it is not connected....It only does this when I am connected to WiFi when when I connect to 2g or 3g it works just fine. I am using Kakaotalk 3.3.3 and I have emaied Kakaotalk about the issue and they told me that they dont have support for ICS or Jelly Bean right now. There is no timeline when they will start to support the 4.0+ ROMS. I have started to use Whatsapp as an alt until they fix it. If anyone else figures this out please let me know thanks.

Best Rom for me

I have been reading these forums for the last few days. I have seen a lot of threads like this but they have not really answered my questions.
I need a stable ROM, where phone, internet, text, gps all work. I am looking for the best battery life. I am also not looking to flash a ton of updates.
I would like to get a jelly bean ROM if one fits my needs. If not then Ice cream. If you guys could recommend a jelly bean and Ice cream rom I would appreciate it.
Thanks again for the help!
PS Kenny if you reading this and you want to make a Jelly Bean Peoples ROM I would love to try it out!

For Jellybean No doubt Paranoid Android
For ICS (TouchWiz) Synergy
I guess everyone agrees with you

It's just tough to give a meaningful answer to this question because it really depends on how you use your phone and your personal tastes. Best thing to do is try out several ROMs and see what works best for you.

For ICS: Cleanrom....it removes all the bullcrap/bloatware and doesn't mess with it too much so things work and work well. Dirtytweaks if you want a little more customization
Synergy is good, however still has some bloat in it that I'm surprised has not been removed...still a very good rom thats geared moreso in my opinion for a heavier tweaker as opposed to just needing a steady not messed with too much rom
Beans is another good one and in my opinion the inbetween of clean and synergy
For JB: paranoid or just go with the default official cm10 nightlies though I can't speak much of personal experience with jb
The CM10 Nightlies(Jelly Bean) are/have become stable enough with yesterday's release. Minor GPS problems as in taking a minute to fix(it does fix, just takes longer than normal sometimes) and some FC's in random situations(Swiftkey install, when you go to change settings through it it FC's the settings. Gotta go in directly to the settings) are about it.
All the functionality bugs seem to have been squished out, no more 3s call delay/echo. So far no data drops reported except from dirty flashes. Text works fine even with a SMS(not MMS) quick reply popup if you want it.
It's pretty nice and stable. I recommend trying it out. (first boot is tricky, let it sit at the activation screen until you see all your radios connect then reboot it and you should be good to go)
Thanks guys I appreciate the advice
Sorry forgot one other question
How is the battery life with ICS vs Jelly Bean?
Thank you
Incubus's jellybean port is 100 percent perfect, literally no issues. And a 5889 quadrant score.

you should spend a week with a CM10 style ROM (i prefer paranoid android as already suggested), and a week with a touchwiz rom.
they are different experiences. you should try them both for sure.

[Q] Call quality on JB

Hi, I'm experiencing serious problems if I install a Jelly Bean based rom on my Sensation 4g (TMOUS). Although the other party can hear me clearly, I can't hear them, but the sound is lagging, distorted or there is no sound at all. I only experience this on calls (both by cell network and by VOIP apps). If I'm using a headset the problems are gone. Media plays back fine too.
All problems disappear if I install an ICS rom (currently Revolution).
Does anybody else experience similar problems or know a fix?
I'm using jelly bean paranoid Android by Dragun Korr and my calls are all clear. Perhaps this is rom related. The issue could lie in the rom itself. Have you tried other jelly bean roms to test and see if it's that particular rom that's causing the issue? I would experiment and see if call quality returns with a different jelly bean rom. If after installing a different rom, the issue still persists then you will know this is device related. Do some experimenting and see. It's likely that once you flash a different jelly bean rom, the issue will disappear.. but do some experimenting and see. It's strange because on different jelly bean roms my data had terrible issues, once I flashed this jelly bean rom those issues went away. So do try another jb rom and see if the issue is still present or fixed. Best wishes.

realsis, thanks a lot for pointing this out - I've already tried different JB roms, but I gather they were all based on Bruce's CM10 version... I've installed ParanoidDragün now, and call quality is flawless again
I'm still curious why I had those issues with Bruce's Kang and similar roms, as nobody else seems to run into this issue... I've already tried different radios and firmwares, but nothing helped.
Guess I'll just have to avoid this rom, although I really like it (ParanoidDragün seems nice too though).
Anyway I'm happy now realsis, thanks a lot
Your welcome, you know I was also wondering the very same question. I have terrible trouble with the Cm roms myself. I thought I was the only one? I can't receive data on anyone of them. I'm so glad you got your issue fixed! I've never had any trouble myself with paranoid Android. I'm using kernel 3.0.53 and battery life is wonderful! Data is strong and calls are clear. There must be something in Cm that's messing with our data quality. For me, I had no data at all so, yes it's very strange that some can run it without issue, while others like you and I can not.. well, I'm very happy you are able to run jelly bean now without problems! Take care

(GB 2.6) ( ICS 4.0.4) (JB 4.1.2) Which is better and why?

Just wanted to get your opinions.....
What Android version do you like on the Galaxy Blaze and why? (Battery life, speed, functionality stability ???)
I am ruining 4.1.2 CM 10 and everything seems pretty smooth. The SD CARD for me is a little bit of a pain but nothing I cant handle. Wondering how stock ICS rooted compares!
I can't speak for how CM10 is, but I can say that it's nice having no errors, reboots, crashes, or quirks of any kind on rooted stock. After stumbling across a thread describing how to get google now on ICS, the only reason I personally have to be envious of CM10 is the superior lock screen.

It works fairly well I think, the thing I like about it the most is when I have a calendar event with an address, it will automatically display travel information to get there at the appropriate time. The card shows up before I have to leave. Since google maps even supports public transit, this works with public transit as well, which I like. This saves me so much time it's not even funny!

What's the deal with T-Mobile and jelly bean?

Just confused, as it seems T-Mobile users are the last of the providers to get jelly bean, if at all. We had that random security patch a month ago and I thought they were testing jelly bean back around Christmas.
I kind of just lost track and stopped caring for awhile, so excuse me if I have missed some info, but I can't find anything on Google.
So, yeah... Any word from T-Mobile users? We still waiting or is their nothing coming?
Thanks

As an T-Mobile employee I'm kept in the dark as much as you are, It's sad that they haven't or won't release it or not even give us a estimated release date @ least. I can tell you that this device did not do as well as T-mobile had hoped and is not anywhere near being @ the top of their priority list, so who knows when?!?!?!
f*** it we have jb roms
I have finally grown tired of waiting too. I flashed Root Box 4.2.2 ROM. Running very smooth! I haven't found anything on it that doesn't work!:good:
You mean other then wifi calling?
That is the reason I haven't yet.
I need wifi calling to get service in a area and without it I would go over my minutes.
Sense 5 JB 4.2.1 has been confirmed for the One S... Hell, maybe they figured working out a T-Mobile rom for Sense 4+ and Sense 5 would be pointless and maybe they're waiting for Sense 5.
We have a couple of good Jelly Bean ROMs with everything working so I left Sense behind for good and I've never been happier
