Thanks, dude, I couldn't see the other posts, they are so tiny, you are literally my savior
On topic: No, S3 users will probably get it 2-3 weeks later, maybe more.
I saw, that some users reported having a brick with SuperCID, is this true?
Because I don't want to change my CID back and stuff
Busybox
Hi
Just updated via OTA, reinstalled CWM_Recovery and installed superSU 0.99.
Phone is rooted once again but it seems like busybox is unable to install, tried a few different versions and none seem to stick, a few even causes a crash/reboot of the phone.
Have a few programs that are reliant on Busybox to function.
Am i the only one with this problem ?
I think the update is rubbish. If anything its not as smooth as the Ics update, project butter must be a vanilla only experience because there is no way it's buttery smooth

I'm really annoyed about the new keyboard layout which was an utterly unnecessary change. Not to mention that the keyboard is somewhat laggy. Apart from that it's fine and I could live with it if I would get back full root functionality.
By the way, has anyone solved their root issues (SuperSU, Busybox, and a couple other apps and tools not working) yet?

Nope I'm also having the same issues. After reading over the superSU thread it seems like HTC have done something to prevent system changes so it's basically a case of waiting until some devs find a work around
Is there an app to reorder the notifications in the notificationbar? I have 2 apps as trigger and new notifications are in the middle of these apps. I want new notifications at bottom.
Haven't got the update yet, but I'd like to know if they solved the touchbutton issue? And does USB OTG work now without extra cables? The only 2 things I'm missing.
Touch button issue is better so far but cannot say for sure that it is fixed, since now we have the Google now issue but not as frequently as before.
The new issue for me after the update is that the hands-free control is not customisable through apps after update, only single click function works for me, no track skipping or volume control

The worst update I've made on any phone....ever!
I need to downgrade ASAP, however, because I'm a relative noob and I'm unrooted I need some assistance. Any advice will be appreciated.
Just installed and had 10 minutes with it. To me my phone definitely seems a little quicker and more responsive, might just be me being excited about new stuff though! I use Swiftkey so never touch the Sense keyboard, I just gave the new one a quick go and switched back to Swiftkey, I can type on it almost as quick as a real keyboard so it would take something amazing to shift me from it. I like what I see of Google Now so far, we'll see how it pans out though. The camera changes seem good, fairly subtle differences but I think it's quicker too. I like the power saver mode, think that will be a useful one. Switching off data when the screen is off is a great feature.
So far, so good.

I noticed that! Subway surfer was laggy on the JB update. Restored my ICS rom and it's smooth as butter. WTF! And it's bound to be s4 because the s3 doesn't have it yet
I am pretty fond of the new No-Lockscreen option. Something I have missed from the AOSP versions, probably the only reason I will stick with sense on JB.

I've been using Cognition 2.1 and SRE since I got my Captivate. I have to say that I am very pleased with designgears stock rebuilds and they definitely made the user experience of the phone much better.
However, having come from a SE x10a, I never really had the opportunity to run any Cyanogen roms, much less CM6, on a phone meant specifically for Android (I did get it running on my HTC Touch Pro and HD2).
Does anyone have any first hand experience with running CM6 on a "real" Android phone and how does it compare to the current Cognition 2.1.5? Should I be holding my breath for CM6 or are the differences minimal (minus Froyo of course)?
Well, considering Cognition is just sourced together improvements in an all in one package, and Cyanogen mod is re-worked code they aren't even in the same ballpark. If and when CM drops it will be very different from Cognition.
Yeah I've had experience with Cyanogen on a Nexus one, and the speed improvements and big updates that add a lot of features, i used Cognition, and i have a couple gripes. first DG updates too frequently, i hate having to keeping using titanium backup, it literally takes an hour to get all my stuff back the way i want, he updates like everyday i swear. Secondly the updates are really buggy still, i had issues on my phone getting really random errors. Cyan has a ton of developers behind it, it really makes the phone, can't wait for it to be on Captivate.

Hmm well i didn't know for sure, he updates too much, i just stopped after 2.1.1, i hate updating, and flashing, and troubleshooting if something goes wrong haha, i mean Cog is something needed to push development on the Captivate. I think it was after 2.1.1 when he started releasing update versions that don't touch /data so leave your apps & settings alone. I do agree though that the releases are too frequent, I'd expect such frequent releases when during the 0.X stage not 2.X.
I'm currently on 2.1.4 and am waiting for 2.1.6 to be released & for other guinea pigs to test it before I upgrade as even just disabling the voodoo lagfix, updating and re-enabling the lag fix is a pain.

Agreed, at least for touchwiz. Not sure about Sense.
Having said that, I understand CM makes changes to stock, so it sounds like it's basically a light skin as well. So not sure if those features are worth it. I love the TW brightness change on notification bar swype. If I knew how to submit ideas to CM, I would submit that. Swiping contacts is very nice too. And of course the notification bar toggles are great.
Launcher pro fixes the rest.
seriously, QQ moar, you're honestly complaining about having too many updates and too much support from the dev community? Look at the other galaxy S forums, they dont even have anything as cool as that, I mean Cognition is just 20 steps rolled into one ROM of what you'll do anyway, stripping many annoying things of the rom out and adding a few patches here and there.. its NOT a vanilla rom, its not anything thats not heavily based on what samsung/ATT put out there.
Its a dude constantly trying to make your phone better, thats hardly a bad thing. You can stick to Cognition 2.1 as i'm doing if you want and just wait for whatever else comes out based on a new samsung/ATT firmware. No one is forcing you to update, read the changelog and if nothing affects you leave your phone as it is.

Yea, I dont mind touchwiz so much. But the one thing I HATE about it is the fact that Samsung did away with the stock Android bluetooth stack and replaced it with one of their own, now we cant use bluetooth game controllers with it.
But other than that, TW with LauncherPro on top of it is pretty good.

I just leave my brightness set to auto. I tried the swiping to change brightness, but didnt like it. One swipe to the left made it go lowest brightness and one swipe to the right made maximum brightness, nothing in between. Thats why I use Auto. But I do love the notification area toggles for Wifi, bluetooth, etc. Just wish they had GPS in there as well like the other phones do.

My MSI Bluetooth GamePad works great. It's the Wii controller that doesn't play well.
I love the development on the Captivate i just don't particularly like all the enhancements that DG has added on the COG ROM. Battery drained like crazy with it. but anyways. yeah TW does have something special about it. some really neat enhancements over that stock experience, i haven't had any experience with Sense but hopefully a ROM will come out soon.
If and when cyan is released for this phone I will swap in a heart beat.
You get a customized light install with all of your favorite mods already installed already. Plus you get updated pushed directly to your phone.

There is a trick to the brightness slider. In order to keep you from changing brightness accidentally, they made the initial spot you touch a dead zone. What you have to do is if you want the screen to be set somewhere on the lower end of the brightness scale, start swiping on the right side and work your way down. If you want to be on the brighter end of the scale, start all the way to the left and work your way up. If you want to be in the middle, just start at either extreme. It seems complicated at first, but it gets to be second nature really fast.

I'll miss plenty. Also, since samsung doesn't release driver source code, CM to leave the galaxyies behind when 3.0 comes out until (and if) samsung releases or leaks some 3.0 roms.
If I update to Cyanogen (when it comes out) or Cognition will I lose Swype?
Sense crashes on me constantly. I tried the fix suggested where you go unclick the activities setting in the development area, to no avail. Can any Cleanrom users tell me if this is problem for you (AT&T) after you rooted and installed CR on your phone?
What do you mean by crashing? Is it force closing or just reloading (get the loading circle)
If its reloading its because of HTC setting aggressive memory management.

I could have worded that better - I mean to say that HTC sense, on my vanilla AT&T rom, goes down a lot, and when you press the home button, it says "loading" for upwards of 20 seconds.
I followed the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599214, however while this seems to fix it for some folks, it does not fix it for others. It's still happening to me, sadly.
I am considering returning this for a SGIII, but I got to wondering if I root it and install CleanRom, maybe that fixes the issue to, in addition to removing the AT&T bloat.

That would be the aggressive management that HTC put into the phone same reason that the browser reloads the page after you close it.
If you find a ROM that locks sense into the memory then it should solve that.
I only have the t3 hox so I can't recommend any for at&t

I got really frustrated yesterday - set up my screens and launcher and folders all nice, just the way I like them, nad Sense reloaded - all of a sudden, the screens I had removed were back, my icons were all over the place, and my folders were not on the home screen. Super frustrating!
Hold on, it actually goes back to default layout after reloading as well?

Almost - I had five screens again, my folders were all bumped to the last screen (so I had to move them back to the home screen before I could delete the extra screens), and a bunch of icons appeared out of nowhere, all over the place. So, it didn't go back to default but it did jack everything up.
It may be something that never comes up because most people do not remove all the extra screens.

I doubt you're going to get many replies from CleanROM users over here, since you've posted this in the international (Tegra 3) subforums and CleanROM is for S4 devices so no-one here will be using it. You'd probably get a better response asking here (or you could maybe ask a mod to shift the thread for you).

WHOOPS! Thank you for pointing it out to me!
Well hello Welcome to the correct forums xD
CleanROM has many multitasking improvements, from what I've read, so it should help quite a bit.
And if you still don't like the multitasking, AOSP based ROMs such as CM9 or AOKP have perfect multitasking (I've been able to get up to 7 apps running with AOKP)
CleanROM 4.1
Using the latest version of CleanROM on the AT&T One X, I have none of the issues that you speak of. Multitasking is night-and-day (granted that you flashed the multitasking mod in the AROMA installer), battery life is stellar, and everything is rock-solid stable.
I've never seen sense reload on me but I don't play games much. Are you a big gamer? I've been using clean rom since it was introduced.
I haven't had Sense reload on me once since flashing CleanROM a month and a half ago. I play a ton of RAM heavy games too like NOVA 3 and as I said, not once has it happened.
I mostly use the web on mine, Google Music, and a couple minor games like Words By Post and Temple Run. Thank you all for the replies, this makes me feel a bit more hopeful. I'm a bit anti-Samsung at the moment, so I am glad to hear that maybe flashing a ROM will fix my problems. I was pretty close to just returning it.

I think it is a software issue. My screen flickers when I flashed CNA and BlackBean but does not flicker with AOKP. My guess is that AOKP is more stable and less buggy?
I would suggest going into your developer options and disable HW overlays. This works on AOSP ROMs and it should work on TW ROMs also.

I would have thought so. But then again there roms are probably built from a modified source and compiled. Once compiled they probably flash it to make sure it boots. If confirmed to boot they probably upload the original. In that case it would not have the option enabled. That is my educated guess on the subject. lol
Screen flickering on AOSP based roms is nothing new, been a known issue for a long time. Some things get fixed then break cause of something else was changed.
Flickering
My phone is original. No Root. Screen just started flickering the other day. I have had it since August. I did nothing different to the phone. Verizon claims I damaged the phone in some way. I have not done anything to damage it. If I open the Gallery on the phone, it starts going crazy. Does not always do it. If I use something like Google Earth or Maps and then open the Gallery, I get horizontal lines across the screen flickering up and down randomly. Swiping gets sluggish when all this happens. Almost like the memory fills up. I look in the memory and it is not even using 1GB, but is close to it when all this happens. Not sure what the heck happened to cause this issue to all of sudden start occurring.

Hopefully v4 won't disappoint your great expectations
I'm sure jellbelly will meet or exceed expectations. I have been trying all the JB builds in this forum and it is the smoothest running so far. I have had issues with them all locking up sometimes but this one does it the least and is the only one that hasn't forced a battery pull.

I've Used, JellyBelly for a bit it still has the keyboard issue where if you hit the cap button once it will lock into All CAPS For the whole message and you have to toggle it many times to get it to unlock from caps or you just have to Hold the Shift ( Cap ) Button to Cap a letter and let it go.
I've also ran into a few problems . with the FN some Options such as the _ Underscore will not appear in some log in Selection boxes. i have to manually go to my soft touch keyboard and key it in by long pressing the Symbol.
None the less dont get me wrong its a great rom hands down. I would like to see those little kinks worked out.
Sorry man, but that's the way the keyboard is on JB, you gotta hold the shift or fn key down like on the computer.

It has been that way for me on every JB ROM, with random times that it works correctly... IDK. Either way, I will probably not be doing any more work on JB until it is less buggy. It's just a headache when bugs pop up out of nowhere, some of the weird bugs aren't ROM specific either. Sorry guys, but it kinda takes the fun out of it when you are constantly fixing bugs. I may do one more update, but I don't know when that will be. For now I'll let the devs that are more talented than me see if they can work out some kinks, my main objective with JellyBelly was to reduce the lag so JB was more usable.

Using bilgerryan's JellyBelly-CM10 v4 and it does still hang for a minute at times in the same places as kushdeck's. Primarily happens throughout settings such as viewing APPS then selecting something also SystemUI hangs.

Keep your eyes peeled for V6 of bilgerryan's JB ROM. Testing is going very nicely! I had similar freeze issues with previous versions, but I think he just about has the kinks worked out.

I tried V6 just now, unfortunately I am not able to post in the thread as my account has less than 10 posts but I have run into a few issues with it thus far. The animations and scrolling are very choppy, this may be related to the "screen flickering" problems listed so i'll have to check the build.prop and make sure everything is as it is supposed to be there. As well, i've ran into a bug where upon backing out of the camera (which I use frequently), all icons and widgets vanish until phone reboot. That's quite a big problem! It's a fast ROM no doubt, and probably the best JB based ROM we have ATM.
Did you do a full wipe as described in this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266885

I did! Extra carefully making sure to wipe everything as usual - this is my second or third ROM flash and only the first time I've seen something like this. After the phone reboot I tried to force the camera bug again so I could screenshot it for bilgerryan but it hasn't shown back up yet. Will be continuing to test, really loving this room so far I just wish it was as smooth as the one I was using previously (RemICS-UX ReVamped).
I guess it could be a bad dl. You might try down loading again over WiFi or hard line then reflashing.

Install a cache cleaner on Play Store and if it starts getting laggy clear your cache. There are a few of them that are one click and done. Plus you gotta let this ROM settle for a bit.

Will give it a shot after I set aside some time and check the build.prop gpu tweak you mentioned in the topic, even though that may be outdated and no longer needed by v6. I did however have the camera back-out glitch happen again. When leaving the camera, no icons or widgets render. I was able to fix it this time by reopening the camera from the lock screen and backing out, but still very irritating and interesting behavior.

Yeah it should not be needed in v6.. What are your CPU settings? If you haven't overclocked it you might wanna set it at 1.2 or 1.3 GHz. I haven't been able to reproduce the camera thing you are talking about. Chad might be right. Looks like a bad download.

Soft Keyboard Fix-Not Required in Version 6.0
Addendum 1) I just updated the ROM download that has had the keyboard fix added to it as well as removing that troublesome JB keyboard I put in there. I'll leave the "Fix" there though in case there are some that haven't had a chance to grab it yet.
For Justin Kase you wanted to check out the battery life...
Flashed it last night and started playing with it this morning and WOW! Had the initial FC of touchwiz and it went away. ROM is fast, noticably faster. This will be my rom for the holiday weekend. If you get a chance dont hesitate to give this a go.
Will download in a hour or so^^

Everyone's going to really like this one. I'd recommend firing up kernel tuner and getting both processors running and she'll be as smooth as a baby's butt. You'll notice when you first start, the Touchwiz Launcher will FC a couple of times but then never again. There is also a weather app preinstalled on the home screen you'll need to delete & relaunch. (That's what's messing with Touchwiz I would assume.) The only other thing, and this is MY blasted fault, is the 4.2.2 JB Keyboard I put in. Would have been great but FC's all over the place when applied. Just use root cleaner to get rid of it. May have to reboot after that too. ALL VERY minor issues and quick little fixes.
Other than those....a VERY SOLID DD that's not given me a moments grief since installing it. :good:
Rom look's great i am very happy this has been ported to the doubleshot so more and more users get to use this great ROm i created. Without people to port this and make it usable on more devices it would be limited to who uses it. I just hope more and more developers see the potential in it and begin to port it to every device My new forum is here rom4u.cu.cc Please all users and developers pop over. This new forum was built by the users for the users. This new forum you can post ANYTHING you want. Whether it be paid apps you find on other websites other Rom's you ported we allow ANYTHING. We also are in need of moderators developers themers and more users to join. We use a points system and users can issue other users points for good things they have done once a user gets to 10,000 points they are issued with $10 automatically and your continue to get $10 for every 10,000 points you get. Please Pop over and open up new threads and help us grow and develop into a bigger community. Remember we are here for you and NONE of the moderators on my forum will act like F.B.I Agents and police officers and you will be treated with the respect you should be given. Thanks and we hope to see many of you over here. xxxx

What is the "Soft Keyboard Fix"? Does that delete the 4.2.2 keyboard or replace it? Steps to flash, or just flash ROM, GAPPS, fix one after another then restart, or restart in between each one?

I was a bit foggy wasn't I? The keyboard fix is just to get it rotating properly and actually popping up when it should without going to inputs and turning off the hardware one. That JB keyboard I put in has worked for me before & It's great when it does but seems to have a personality problems with some ROMs....this being one of them. I included Root Cleaner and it will uninstall system apps in one click. Just use that to dump it.
The installation process I kinda take for granted. I ALWAYS flash the ROM and let it settle in. Then I go back for the Gapps & boot back up and do their intro & sign-ups. Then I go back & run any included patches that come with a ROM. Personally, I've never had any issues doing it that way.
Butch....I don't know about those spellings. I've not had a chance to use everything yet.

Yeah man. I finally had a chance to check it out and that thing is bad. Just tap that little symbol out to the right inside where you select it & turn on Predictive Text. There's about 6 other functions & keyboard setups to choose from too.
I got a bug my Google voice search keeps fcing

I don't know bro. Just ran mine thru it's paces & can't reproduce that one. Installed Apex launcher, icon theme pack, switching back and forth between Tablet UI & Touchwiz and can get there in both. One of the Sweetest ROMs I've run in a LONG while.
Maybe a Dalvik flush and a set permissions in recovery?
Idk I mean i uninstalled the jellybean keyboard does that mean anything

No that wouldn't do it. I had to myself because it was causing me issues too. I did reboot right afterwards though. Might try clearing dalvik & reflashing your Gapps if worse comes to worse.
That JB Keyboard is a stinker though. That's the last I try that thru a ROM. It's a GREAT keyboard but never seems to work right unless it comes directly from the Playstore. You should grab it from there sometimes & give it a whirl.
Yup yup i reflashed and it works now...dal cache wipe was probably the answer thanks again man

So far it is running very smoothly. I have all my apps installed, have everything all set up the way I like. Only problems I have had have been onscreen keyboards. The Xperia keyboard wouldn't work at all, just FC. Neither the Samsung keyboard nor the AOSP keyboard will do trace (like Swype), they only work touching each key. The AOSP keyboard will show the trace, but just not enter anything in the field unless I touch each key separately. I wish I could get the trace to work on something as I'm so used to Swype, but I have been reluctant to install Swype unless I just have to do so.
I've set Kernel Tuner up with both cores running 1296/192 and Badass governor, NOOP I/O and 2048 SD cache. So far so good, won't know any battery stats for a couple of days, I think.
I checked mine & it's doing the same as yours Fuzi, so I just went ahead & used Root Cleaner & uninstalled Xperia & Xperia Chinese. I thought that might clear up the issue but afraid not. If I were you I'd go ahead & install Swype on top of it and see if it will activate. Of course if you're where you can just talk, tap the microphone & just dictate into it. It's cool as CRAP for texting, notepad, Playstore...all that stuff. I understand how it is to miss a function you've grown to love though.
