The last solid Eos 4 build is #120

Timduru continues working from the Eos 4 base with his KatKiss project here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362764
The CodeFireX project is still in general for now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375257
We're (bigrushdog and CodeFireX guys) going balls to the wall getting 4.3 running. So likely next build will be 4.3. So it may be a bit of time still. Watch the general thread for updates and info.
Eos lives on in KatKiss and CodeFireX!

Latest Gapps Package: 4.2.2 Gapps for TF101
Older 4.2.1 Eos Gapps for TF101
If you prefer to have the Swipe feature in the default Keyboard you can use this version, but the Keyboard will crash on auto-correction
If you use this version, make sure you go the keyboard settings and change these settings:
+ Auto-correction off
+ Show correction suggestions:always hide
Because this is an AOSP based rom Google Apps are not included in the base rom. To install Google Apps you'll need to flash one of these package after installing the base rom.
Features & ChangeLogs:
Because these are nightly builds the included features are constantly evolving.
The main changes are posted in the wiki: http://code.google.com/p/teameos/wiki/ChangeLog, and are also available from the EOSControlCenter menu => ChangeLog.
For a comprehensive listing of the changes please visit http://review.teameos.org
Please not that this version is for the TF101 model only.
It should work on the TF101G version too but you won't get native 3G support (you can however use PPP Widget to connect to 3G)

A quick note on Nightlies: NIGHTLIES ARE DEVELOPMENT BUILDS. They are automatically generated every now and then, and represent the compilation of the latest commits to the code repository. While every effort is made ensure that the commits that are accepted are stable and do not have a negative impact to the overall performance and function of the builds it is not possible to test every aspect of a commits impact to the overall repo prior to it’s inclusion in a given build. As a result it is entirely possible that instabilities may be introduced as a result of a given days commits. That is the nature of the nightly system, and the risk that is taken using the latest code changes to the project.

Just flashed B96 to get the close all app feature and it's a nice one to have.
Thx a lot for this awesome preview and wish you a Merry Xmas too.

After I wake the tablet, if it's docked with an SD card in the dock the card won't remount unless I go into settings and do it manually.

You want to clear data and cache before flashing. Because it's a major update.

I've tried many build but the launcher was still laggy....
Is the last b96 fixing the launcher lags?
thanx for all your effort!

Remove or rename the google search widget apk or something in app folder. Can't remember the name but it should work
Just use apex or nova instead if it doesn't

RaymanFX maybe you could put that in your #2 spot. Btw how did you snatch that up so quick? I didn't tell anyone I was starting a thread.

Did you find 4.2 stable enough? I've read about so many bugs inside 4.2 base, that I'm a little bit afraid of upgrading...
I'll test anyway, because TeamEOS3 gave me SoDs after some deep sleep, and I had to move to another Rom.
Thanks to the team.

I've been running on timduru and RaymanFX 's 4.2 ROM for several weeks. I feel it's more stable than 4.1. When setup right, I think performance is better too.

B96 is good for me. Keep getting /0's in my list of files when I go into recovery after flashing 4.2 ROMs which is a pain. At one point I had /0/0/0 ....where am I going wrong or what's happening?

You need the latest TWRP. Install from goo.im. I don't think any CWM versions support the new user filesystem structure yet.

When I came from stock ICS, I first flashed the latest TWRP recovery then I wiped caches, /data, /system, internal sdcard and factory reset. Then I flashed Team EOS4 and Timduru's kernel and then flashed gapps-JB1212. From that point everytime that I reflash another version of Team EOS4, then I wipe caches and /system, flash the ROM, then the kernel, then the gapps and wipe the caches again and reboot. I, so far, have only seen 1 level of '0' folder under /storage/emulated/. Hope that helps.

I'm on an old CM recovery and I can't boot into my ROM, so I can't use GooIm manager to swap the recovery easily. Right now I'm just stuck in a boot loop.

Can you flash an older ROM just so you can boot into a working ROM? Then do goo.im install of the latest TWRP? If you can't, then I think you might have to follow one of the threads that shows you how to unbrick or re-root, even though you're not really bricked. There's probably someone else here that can help with that more, I've never had to do this. Sorry!

I guess BT problem with some headsets still persists in this ROM?
I cant see bug section, thats why I am asking
no google play
I installed the rom ok first without gapps to see if everything was ok, then tried to install gapps minimal, both a version I already had and the one on the thread, but no google play appeared on a reboot. I also tried again from fresh and instal gapps straight away after the rom, again no luck. The browser wouldn't open either. It seemed very nice but getting gapps to work is essential for most of us, but appreciate the work and look forward to future versions
Okay, guys, I've flashed it last night so here goes a semi-long review
For those of you who have problems flashing - remember that this is an Android 4.3 ROM. So, first of all, you need one of the latest recoveries, the older ones don't support these new zips. Second things is the correct gapps - make sure you are using gapps for 4.3. You can find a minimal gapps package by TJKV in the Apps subforum, I used that with CM10.2, PA3.99 and now Mokee4.3 and all was working fine on all of the ROMs.
Now, about the ROM I have only used Mokee GB for a short time, so this is the first time I've tried a 4.x Mokee ROM. And I have to say that this ROM is great It's based on CM, but goes beyond that. When it comes to DEFY, it's based on Quarx's and Blechd0se's work, so all of the latest tweaks, patches and fixes for the DEFY are included, both system-wise and kernel-wise.
The ROM behaves great. It's very fast, I'd even say faster than CM10.2 and as fast as PA3.99. Some of the included features, besides all the CM ones: PIE, HALO, Mokee App Market and Games Centre (both are not translated to English, though Or have I missed something?), animation settings throughout the whole system, transparency settings for both the launcher and the statusbar, shortcuts for clock, calculator, camera, calendar and music player in the task manager and some more interesting things. I really like the animation settings for all possible events, that's veeery cool
Mokee doesn't have CM Account feature included, if anyone's interested... Not a minus as far as I'm concerned.
About the Play Store not working report... It's working perfectly fine here. @markrs Are you sure you installed the right gapps zip?
I'm sticking with Mokee for now, that's for sure I've kinda lost faith in CM since the whole Cyanogen Inc thing started. I know it's still the same ROM, but I've got a feeling that it's going to start changing... And Mokee is definitely one of the better alternatives.
Peace out

Agree with very much what you said, to be honest I am sure I made a mistake somewhere on the install, but both the gapps I tried were jb 4.3, one was from the link on this thread and the other was from TKJV as I previously have had pa 3.99 installed and had no problems with gapps same with slimrom 4.3 that is currently installed. I only briefly tried out mokee gb rom, but it was very nice and if the JB roms don't work out I think I will use that for a while. Will give this another go with gapps as would love to give it a proper try out.
Mark
@markrs I really don't know what could be the problem if we're using the same gapps... If the same thing happens next time, check in Settings - Apps whether Play Store is disabled (frozen)? Might have been, although I have no idea why.
I did a complete wipe before flashing Mokee and gapps (system, data, cache, dalvik cache), so you can try that, as well, if you haven't done the same this time.
Good luck :fingers-crossed:
*EDIT* Does someone know who is the maintainer of the DEFY version of Mokee? Would like to follow his (or hers ) github... Easier to find out what has changed that way

Thanks @niksy+ I did a full wipe with each try and checked in the settings apps to see if it was there but hidden from the launcher apps list but not there. I am sure it is some strange quirk, might try an older nightly version as that might work

This is an enhanced version of the 81c developer preview that google released.
It has currently been ported for Mako and Deb and improved for Hammerhead and Flo
It offers a permissive selinux policy, aosp merged in and rock solid stabilty along with drastic improvements in speed and smoothness.
It offers updated proprietary files, updated google apps, fonts, res files and animations from the newer sdks.

Right now I rebased the entire project to clean it out and smooth it out
Huge thanks to @ramjet73 @bitstra @manueltts @skiman10 @psycho693 @jayfallen for helping me get it over to the other devices I don't have and testing everything I threw at them and the huge brainstorming and trying things I couldn't. Warning. This has heavy ramdisk mods that are essential for it to work. You can flash current up to date "kit Kat kernels or L updaters only" but not full boot.imgs as this will break the ROM. If you do happen to flash a a boot.img, you can pull it out if the rom and fastboot flash boot boot.img
Hammerhead can only use L preview Kernels.
Remember, this is a port of a developer preview, there is already bugs in the official version from google and without the L code, we can not fix google's bugs. There are fixes to known problems in N7 2013 and N5 forums so if you do find them, please provide them with the bug

Stable-9001
Now over 9000!!!!!!
Updated selinux security policy
tracked down some missing permissions
did some other work but can't remember
B7.0.1
Flo & Deb
removed some excess apps that were replaced and I missed in b7
B7
updated fonts, res files, animations from the latest sdk
updater-script wipes cache files
updated some more google apps.
now using smart-art
force dns to google's public dns
B6
6 finishes up the rebasing work from 5 (5.9 was just a stepping stone and getting it out to other devices so we could work out all the kinks)
(Mako only info)
The rebasing work meant a lot of clean up and trying to get it as efficient as possible so from 5 to 6 is a big step and will be quite noticeable
(mako, flo, deb)
updated egl drivers are from qcom developer are in here which are newer then the preview ones
(Hammerhead )
Proper working sound now
(All)
Built in Busybox should be working. I tested the functions and seemed good to me.
Got rid of all the looping code and debugging code to speed everything up.
Updated the preview proprietary binaries to the latest version (some can't go all the way up and are stuck on a previous set or even original preview versions)
(Hammerhead has the latest preview egl drivers)
Built in google apps have been updated.
Introduction of slim builds for those on a bandwidth budget.
Can't think of what else.
Most kinks have all been worked out

Trust this L-AOSP port - it's FAST - STABLE - PERMISSIVE - INGENIOUS !
I'm using this ROM (beside the tests) as my flo's daily driver since the first test versions - and had the look over the complete EVOLUTION of that thingy...:good:
Hope, Google Authorities will have a look to @sykopompos threads for L-port - HIRE @sykopompos - It would be the best decision in your career, for sure!

Fully permissive, rooted, uses koush's superuser but SuperSU 2.02 can be used.
Does not come with busybox yet

And really fun thread coming. [emoji6]
Cheers!
Sent from Nexus 7.2 Flo using Tapatalk.
As for the difference. Updated binaries, completely aosp based current ramdisk with the L specific stuff added in. Completely rooted and working. Fully permissive sepolicy so some apps that were being blocked before actually go through also without selinux blocking everything, speed is increased. New SDK fonts (I gotta add the animations and colors in (mako users said they were snappier))
Current up to date aosp hal files
And, as you might have noticed the official L preview is a fair bit choppier than kk or any earlier releases. This aims to get back smoothness. Hammerhead L preview is MUCH faster, idk if due to hardware but this bridges the gap
Btw hi

Tiny is looking through it and he is saying that the aosp source is enough off from cm but I'm looking through and the entire ROM is caf.
I'm syncing caf right now to tale a look through it to see if we can work it back to basically hammerhead. It is essentially the same hardware so with slight modification to it, it should work
Thanks for putting this together. Coming from stock, had too many FC on ASUS Keyboard to even get past language selection at first, but power off/wait/retry worked fine as said in first post.

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first created based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean because of curiosity. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device (EVO 3D). Since then many others have joined the project and it has grown a whole lot. We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours and many of our contributors have gone to help other projects and that is ultimately why we do what we do.
Once Jelly Bean was over, we decided in Kitkat to move to a new base which was OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting because it challenged us to see what we could with something different.
With Lollipop, we have moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. That said it has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward.
Few more things we will say is that we don't accept nor ask for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc.....
We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask is that you search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

How to enable Call Recording
Hi, how to enable call recording?
Greetings all! I have a problem; I went to change the data partition to ext3 and now I cannot access my internal storage. I understand that it is formatted, how do I restore the storage partition? I cannot do anything on the phone but access TWRP, which is 2.8.4.0. Thanks in advance.

Yeah...TWRP is the way to do it...go to Wipe>Advanced Wipe>select Data (ONLY!)...then at the bottom of the screen you will see an option to Change or Repair filesystem...select that and then select Change... change it to EXT4...swipe to confirm. I imagine you have already lost any photos....music...etc but just a heads up that will wipe the entire internal storage...after TWRP does it's thing...go back to Wipe>Advanced Wipe and wipe System...both Caches...and Data (why not at this point LOL) then install the ROM of your choice and then install Gapps of your choice....Reboot...and you should be good to go.
Good luck. :fingers-crossed:

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-M, we rebased OctOs on AOSP code. After a short love affair with AOSP we had to make the move back to CM as a base.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: Well despite our efforts & our call for help, in the end we we're just to short staffed. We had to use CM as a base for our CAF devices & trying to maintain two branches just became overwhelming.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But XYZ rom and all the others have..
A: ROM developers build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite gapps package.
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files
Reboot
The Oct-M ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-M available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-M builds use the device's stock kernel.

As you guys are rolling out M builds now, is there any way you could have the oct-l thread locked to avoid confusion? If not, no big deal, just an idea. Keep up the good work.
You know for some reason I have been unable to edit any of my threads. I have tried 2 different pc's , my phone, Linux OS,Windows 10 etc etc. Finally I was able to edit this thread today and instead of editing it created 3 new threads. Luckily a moderator helped me delete them. I'll do my best to get rid of the Lollipop thread to avoid confusion . But so far XDA and I are not doing well lol

First off, thanks for all your hard work. Have been running Oct M for a day now and all is fine except for a couple of things; 1. Camera fc'd then forced reboot; 2. This is a bit strange. When I tried to attach a photo [in gmail] using the photo icon, google+ fc'd and I was dumped back to email I was trying to attach the photo to. However, when I tried again using the image icon instead I could then sellect and attach the photo I wanted, no problem. I've never seen this before...
Anyway, apart from that, brilliant work..
Cheers.
Does this ROM include features like customizable navbar and Privacy Guard (most important features for me)? Wanted to try it, but MultiROM won't let me install it as secondary. Got many apps installed and just wanted to know before factory reset and recover all apps with TB (takes quite a while)...

Initial m release is excellent overall. I noticed that I can't seem to find a way to change the bottom shortcuts on the lockscreen... And the border on the navbar that goes 3/4 across the screen is strange, but great start. I don't flash nearly as many roms as I used to, but had to try this, and am glad I did.
Just an FYI to anyone that runs across this same issue. After flashing ROM message appeared in SU that root was lost & I would have to root my device again. Instead I flashed the latest beta SuperSU 2.52 & all was well again.
My 1st impressions of ROM are great. I've run several versions of 6.0 on this device & all have been quirky. They've been slow in certain instances & haven't played nice with all of my apps. Octo however has been fluid, responsive & very cohesive with all of my apps. Great work dev team, thank you!

My 1st impressions of ROM are great. I've run several versions of 6.0 on this device & all have been quirky. They've been slow in certain instances & haven't played nice with all of my apps. Octo however has been fluid, responsive & very cohesive with all of my apps. Great work dev team, thank you!

Thank you for the kind words! Although your SuperSU experience is puzzling to me. You didn't by chance wipe system before install did you? The block system does that for you. Therefore we recommend you factory reset, flash rom, gapps and reboot. SuperSU should flash on its own with no issue. Our testers only experienced the no root issue when they wiped system.

Yes I did. I did read the install instructions & saw that but didn't realize that just a "factory wipe" was crucial to the install. It's just customary for me to do a completely clean install when changing ROMs. Thanks for pointing that out as I was curious. Hopefully users will read this before making the same mistake. Again great ROM. Its been rather frustrating with 6.0 & the ROMs I've flashed. Yours seems to be the ticket though.

I am pretty sure the 3/4 border u have is the battery bar??

To anyone who has tried this out, are you able to rearrange the order of the softkeys in the navbar?

About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.
I changed my LCD density and now the navbar looks weird, what gives?
This is currenly an issue that we are aware of and addressing. For now after you changed density reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.

Very good work! Firmware establish good! I really liked the minimalism! Many settings - will study unsubscribe later!
Big question,
to choose from this ROM or before going back to official Shield ROM, does touchscreen works or has a fix on KODI?
Regards

I had the firmware TeamEOS. Wipes are made in TWRP and flashed Dirty Unicorns.
Everything works well!
Touchscreen does not work on kodi, like all other non stock ROMs. Other than that touchscreen works fine. Not aware of any other bugs. Working on getting marshmallow proper. Boots up, but sound is a little unstable and video doesn't work.
Hi.. I have problem with my shield tab
Im from Malaysia and i bought the Shield Tab from local online seller but the sim locked with AT&T.

Haven't pulled in those functions yet.
Flashed DU with no issues, but Banks Dynamic GAPPS will not flash.
Hands down the best rom for this tablet. Runs smooth as butter, great battery life, and none of the audio issues that plagued all the other roms ive tried. This should be the definitive custom rom for the shield tablet.

I havent tried the latest r29 build so I can't comment on it but I gave up on blisspop with r28. I switched to TeamEOS ROM which i liked but development was stopped and then transitioned to Dirty Unicorn.
I fully recommend this ROM. The only issue I have run across is the battery saver option won't allow you to change the color from the default . The color change option doesn't work and apparently the shield cqontroller doesnt work with Kodi. I dont have the shield controller so I can't comment on that either.
I'm using slim zero gapps and not the ones recommended with the rom.
I really hope this ROM takes off.
thanks for the quick reply , going to try this tomorrow
What limitation does this rom have over the official stock rom in terms off functionality and user experience ?

I haven't seen any limitations at the moment other than the Kodi bug with the shield controller not working with the app. As far as user experience goes, it's been hands down the best I've seen for custom roms on this tablet.
I don't think the NVIDIA functions work at all on this rom, which is what is stopping me from giving it a test drive.
Hopefully the nvidia apps will be integrated into a usable state soon.
as for KODI, does it work with the touch screen? or is it just the controller that doesn't work?
I'm having some issues. I did everything as mentioned. I came from a rooted stock L and after installing DU and the Du TBO Gapps, not 64 bit version, I boot to the home screen and nothing pops up without an error. So format and reinstall again but I can't move forward because I can't access the store to do updates that it says it needs because I can't connect to my wifi. Here is the MAIN problem. When I go to settings to connect to wifi my keyboard won't work. "Unfortunately, Android Keyboard (AOSP) has stopped." How do I fix this?

Flash other gapps than TBO. Slim zero worked for me, but I am sure other ones work too.
