About Us:
Dirty Unicorns is a project that started out with no name. It was a project that was first based off AOKP back in the early days of Jelly Bean. In the early days it was just a one man show on one device, the EVO 3D. Since then, many others have joined the project and it has grown exponentially.
We have seen a lot of talent contribute to this project of ours. Big or small, the focus was always on contributing to the community. That is ultimately why we do what we do. After Jelly Bean, we decided to move to a new base, OmniROM. While AOKP was fun, OmniROM proved to be even more exciting base because it challenged us to see what we could do with a project that had different goals in mind. We learned a lot and again, gain contributors. With Lollipop, we moved to an AOSP base with a lot of patches from CAF to make our older devices function as they should. We grew even more and learned a whole lot more.
It has been an awesome learning experience and is still not over! We are still learning every day and continue to move forward. Lastly, we DO NOT accept, nor ask, for donations. We don't believe in that. Everything that is necessary to keep this project going is out of our own pocket. Gerrit, Jenkins, Websites, Devices, etc. We will never ask for a dime. All we do ask, is that you have patience, search, read and try to enjoy the process with us!!

I'm getting a FC from the theme chooser, what gives?
This is due to restoring data/apps from Google. Go ahead and clear data and cache for theme chooser and theme provider then reboot you should be good moving forward.
I changed my LCD density and now the navbar looks weird, what gives?
This is currenly an issue that we are aware of and addressing. For now after you changed density reset navbar layout or stay on the stock density.

any bugs?

Very good work! Firmware establish good! I really liked the minimalism! Many settings - will study unsubscribe later!

Big question,
to choose from this ROM or before going back to official Shield ROM, does touchscreen works or has a fix on KODI?
Regards

I had the firmware TeamEOS. Wipes are made in TWRP and flashed Dirty Unicorns.
Everything works well!

Touchscreen does not work on kodi, like all other non stock ROMs. Other than that touchscreen works fine. Not aware of any other bugs. Working on getting marshmallow proper. Boots up, but sound is a little unstable and video doesn't work.

Hi.. I have problem with my shield tab
Im from Malaysia and i bought the Shield Tab from local online seller but the sim locked with AT&T.
ive tried everything, even contacted AT&T but still nothing...Anyone here can help me..?? Obviously custom rom didnt fix it..
Is there anyway to get it works with my local data/sim..

Everything works flawless, but how to get the controller connecting and working with the tablet? Tried the .zip file from another thread and i still cant connect my controller

Haven't pulled in those functions yet.

Flashed DU with no issues, but Banks Dynamic GAPPS will not flash.

Hands down the best rom for this tablet. Runs smooth as butter, great battery life, and none of the audio issues that plagued all the other roms ive tried. This should be the definitive custom rom for the shield tablet.

I havent tried the latest r29 build so I can't comment on it but I gave up on blisspop with r28. I switched to TeamEOS ROM which i liked but development was stopped and then transitioned to Dirty Unicorn.
I fully recommend this ROM. The only issue I have run across is the battery saver option won't allow you to change the color from the default . The color change option doesn't work and apparently the shield cqontroller doesnt work with Kodi. I dont have the shield controller so I can't comment on that either.
I'm using slim zero gapps and not the ones recommended with the rom.
I really hope this ROM takes off.

thanks for the quick reply , going to try this tomorrow

What limitation does this rom have over the official stock rom in terms off functionality and user experience ?

I haven't seen any limitations at the moment other than the Kodi bug with the shield controller not working with the app. As far as user experience goes, it's been hands down the best I've seen for custom roms on this tablet.

I don't think the NVIDIA functions work at all on this rom, which is what is stopping me from giving it a test drive.
Hopefully the nvidia apps will be integrated into a usable state soon.
as for KODI, does it work with the touch screen? or is it just the controller that doesn't work?

I'm having some issues. I did everything as mentioned. I came from a rooted stock L and after installing DU and the Du TBO Gapps, not 64 bit version, I boot to the home screen and nothing pops up without an error. So format and reinstall again but I can't move forward because I can't access the store to do updates that it says it needs because I can't connect to my wifi. Here is the MAIN problem. When I go to settings to connect to wifi my keyboard won't work. "Unfortunately, Android Keyboard (AOSP) has stopped." How do I fix this?

Flash other gapps than TBO. Slim zero worked for me, but I am sure other ones work too.

Hi bud. Just to confirm Rom boots fine and installs flawlessly! So far not noticed any issues. Unfortunately I'm a loyal candyRom user so will be bouncing back to that but good work and thanks for bringing this to the m4..cheers
Good luck on getting it official
Anyone found any bugs? I want to get rid of them for you guys by next build
I think people (including) me don't dare to install any non-sense ROM because of the overheating-and-phone-killing-issues that are apparently in the CM11 base on the mini (and every fork of it). Now, the error isn't in CM11, but I take from it that there are still reliability issues in getting a non-sense rom working to a point where it doesn't brick phones.
The issue is that on some phones CM11 runs fine for 5 months but then kills the phone, with others it's within two weeks.
And I don't blame anyone for some bricks that might have happened, but it does put me off from any non-sense (AOSP?) based rom, including this one. Are my fears justified?

Well that's up to the user if he wants a none sense ROM. I seen all the fuss about the issues etc even seen the Sense Fanboys loving that people are being scared off AOSP too. Tbh I don't see any problems with it my Rom been tested for awhile and is build from slim not CM with no issues at all... if people don't wanna try aosp then that's their loss....
Doesn't have to do with 'fanboys' or not, does it? I had some version of AOSP on most of my devices (also MIUI and such) and would like to try it on my M4, but seeing reports of dying phones on multiple AOSP versions make (even) me hesitant. Since it only happens on our device it's not in the AOSP base or CM11 base but in the device specific portion, like kernel, firmware binaries in the ROM and maybe configuration on some background daemons (thermald?)... was hoping you could take my doubt away .

Well I don't own this device anymore but the guy who tests builds doesn't have any issues with my ROM. This isn't my thread and I didn't build this ROM so you would have to take it up with the thread owner...
"On multiple aosp version" ???
Had no problems with any aosp rom on this device and I haven't ran sense for about a year now. No issues with pac,or slim and definitely none with candy which is my daily rom. Tbh I did have one issue with cm in the early days which I managed to recover from... But I put that down to my error... Flashing different kernels, installing performance mods/scripts etc and using different xposed modules.
Apologies for hijacking thread
Don't worry about the thread hijack lol...i wasn't paying attention..
I'm back from the hospital and i'm ready to build. t6vzw is brunching right now, and once it's done t6spr will start. after that, the m4 will get going and then my evita...so m4 users, expect your build to be ready by the end of tonight or so
slim m4 should be coming out today or tomorrow...the new server had a lot of build errors so i just fixed it for the evita
going to build for t6vzw, then t6spr, and then m4...
NEW BUILD! 7.6! Wait for around 15 min after this post is done and you'll see it. Check on the slim website for changelog...

AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
What is AICP?
AICP is known by someone as Ice Cold Project that started on Desire HD and since than evolved as a mature rom with the BEST community you can find!!!
Rom has always been AOKP based until Lollipop.
Unfortunately AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year so we are now CM based when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them or CM team if it concerns their modifications. This rom isn't CM supported so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!
CM12 theme engine is included.
Latest Release
THIS IS ONLY FOR THE WI-FI ONLY VARIANT FOR NOW, soon i will do a separate build for LTE or try out unified builds
Download link: http://dwnld.aicp-rom.com/?device=wx_na_wf
Actual version: AICP V9
KERNEL:
This Rom uses a stock cyanogenmod kernel, if you want a custom kernel I recomend using the cm12.1 build of BitOBSessiOns's kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/development/tweaked-kernel-nvidia-shield-tablet-t3069776
IceColdJelly AICP G+ community
What's Broken:
You tell me.
ROMS
ROMS should contain everything you need to enjoy Lollipop. You are not required to install any Add Ons, simply download the latest ROM, gapps, flash it, and go!
You are STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing, and if possible avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup - these can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience strange behavior.
GAPPS Central: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-consolidated-gapps-thread-t3064693
How to flash:
Don't do it if you don't know it
Full wipe, flash rom, flash gapps, boot
Be patient while it boots
ROM has gapps persistance in between dirty flashes
If you want to contribute to the AICP or wanna see what is being worked on/merged feel free to visit our gerrit, link is in the next post!!!

Normal?? More +5minutes
The first start of a ROM with 5.x.x takes 5-15 minutes. That normal for the first pre-caching due to ART. Just be patient ☺

no, it seems that was not done properly the "wipe data", now if I booted properly. Bito with KL017 kernel, and the truth that time is running smoothly.
and these days I will tell you, if BT and Wi behave properly.
greetings and thanks, made porting roms, it would also be very interesting "slim-omni" lol

Hope you like the ROM, slim would definitely be interesting due to having only two Gbs RAM but i would miss the theme engine too much, never tried omni.

I have rarely if at all ever had the actual initial boot take longer than a couple of minutes. Including the optimisation, of course, but certainly never had it take 5+ mins to boot unless there was a fault.
Which in his case there was.
Great job Vinman!
Love the options on this rom. Almost all work. Ad block crashes settings and the status bar options aren't all there yet (no battery bar, and not all the color options for the battery icon and wifi signal cluster.) looking good and running pretty great on bitO KL 017 for cm12.1 and delta gapps
Just updated to newest build 05/08 and the lockscreen of death came back. Clean wipe and all that. BitO 019, it was running great until it sat at lock for a while and it didn't do this on the last build. Other than that, the battery bar is there now. Not sure what else. Thanks for the work! This rom looks pretty slick

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 6 (Marshmallow)?
A: Yes
Q: What code is Oct-M based on?
A: Starting with Oct-M, we rebased OctOs on AOSP code. After a short love affair with AOSP we had to make the move back to CM as a base.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: Well despite our efforts & our call for help, in the end we we're just to short staffed. We had to use CM as a base for our CAF devices & trying to maintain two branches just became overwhelming.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But XYZ rom and all the others have..
A: ROM developers build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite gapps package.
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files
Reboot
The Oct-M ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider
The foundation of the Android OS is the fact that is it open-source. We have all code we use internally in the creation of Oct-M available on our GitHub repositories.
Unless otherwise specified, all Oct-M builds use the device's stock kernel.

As you guys are rolling out M builds now, is there any way you could have the oct-l thread locked to avoid confusion? If not, no big deal, just an idea. Keep up the good work.
You know for some reason I have been unable to edit any of my threads. I have tried 2 different pc's , my phone, Linux OS,Windows 10 etc etc. Finally I was able to edit this thread today and instead of editing it created 3 new threads. Luckily a moderator helped me delete them. I'll do my best to get rid of the Lollipop thread to avoid confusion . But so far XDA and I are not doing well lol

First off, thanks for all your hard work. Have been running Oct M for a day now and all is fine except for a couple of things; 1. Camera fc'd then forced reboot; 2. This is a bit strange. When I tried to attach a photo [in gmail] using the photo icon, google+ fc'd and I was dumped back to email I was trying to attach the photo to. However, when I tried again using the image icon instead I could then sellect and attach the photo I wanted, no problem. I've never seen this before...
Anyway, apart from that, brilliant work..
Cheers.
Does this ROM include features like customizable navbar and Privacy Guard (most important features for me)? Wanted to try it, but MultiROM won't let me install it as secondary. Got many apps installed and just wanted to know before factory reset and recover all apps with TB (takes quite a while)...

Privacy guard not yet. Some nav bar customization is in rom now. We will be adding more features as we go.

Initial m release is excellent overall. I noticed that I can't seem to find a way to change the bottom shortcuts on the lockscreen... And the border on the navbar that goes 3/4 across the screen is strange, but great start. I don't flash nearly as many roms as I used to, but had to try this, and am glad I did.
Just an FYI to anyone that runs across this same issue. After flashing ROM message appeared in SU that root was lost & I would have to root my device again. Instead I flashed the latest beta SuperSU 2.52 & all was well again.
My 1st impressions of ROM are great. I've run several versions of 6.0 on this device & all have been quirky. They've been slow in certain instances & haven't played nice with all of my apps. Octo however has been fluid, responsive & very cohesive with all of my apps. Great work dev team, thank you!

Thank you for the kind words! Although your SuperSU experience is puzzling to me. You didn't by chance wipe system before install did you? The block system does that for you. Therefore we recommend you factory reset, flash rom, gapps and reboot. SuperSU should flash on its own with no issue. Our testers only experienced the no root issue when they wiped system.

Yes I did. I did read the install instructions & saw that but didn't realize that just a "factory wipe" was crucial to the install. It's just customary for me to do a completely clean install when changing ROMs. Thanks for pointing that out as I was curious. Hopefully users will read this before making the same mistake. Again great ROM. Its been rather frustrating with 6.0 & the ROMs I've flashed. Yours seems to be the ticket though.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the next build coming?
I can't give precise information about the next build. I try to do a new build each time there is a significant change in the ROM's sources (bugfixes, new features...), but keep in mind that I can only do this on my personal computer for now, and that I also do it on my free time. So please be patient!
Will you fix this bug?
Unfortunately, I'm not the person in charge of fixing the ROM's flaws internally. We have to wait until the bug is fixed in the upstream sources (either CyanogenMod, or the ROM developers of the one in this thread), and that I do a new build.
Will a Nougat version of this ROM be available?
I hope so! Again, this depends CyanogenMod 14 ever comes to our device, and if the ROM developers carry on to this version too. I can't say for sure, but if it is possible, it will be done.
About the HTC One M7 ROM Building Project by Siphonay
As an effort to keep our device alive, I'm trying to build the various existing CM flavors not already officially or unofficially available for it to keep its ecosystem varied, and provide its user a wide range of choice for their device.
If you like this ROM, you should definitely check out the other builds of this project!

That's wierd, does it do the same on other MM ROMs like ResurrectionRemix or Slim6? I never heard of that problem, and didn't experience it myself. Are you using Xposed?
Please try to provide me a logcat of when you are stuck on the boot animation.

hello that such I returned to happen what happened to me before you leave the log aki I've taken in recovery
Same request as in TipsyOS, can you please add DT2W feature? I use it all the time on XenonHD LP/MM roms.
Thanks!
Mate, I got to say... from all your builds, this is the most stable. A bit early to say, but for two days, no reboots, BT streaming to my car stereo working good, GPS working as it should. The only problem I faced at the beginning was the WiFi disconnection. I sort of fixed it by flashing Xenon HD's boot.img from the latest ROM. Now no WIFI disconnections and I also have stable performance playing Clash Royale, which it was constantly crashing in other MM ROMs, including your PAC one.
AOSP-OMS + Xenon HD's Boot.img = WIN!
Let's see how it goes during the weekend.
Cheers!
Thanks for the tip Acogu!
Can you check if DT2W works with Xenon's kernel?
I think the problem is to use the substratum

I'm having only Sweep to wake/sleep under the Wake menu. On the Xenon ROM file's name it says S2W so don't know if that version only has that feature.
Maybe you can check with the previous release.
?

So is it working? Is it more stable/faster than xenonHD?
I actually just flashed it now, having some issues, but will give it a day or so and see how it is.
DT2W is enabled and works (after flashing the boot.img from Xenon). Still need to test everything (GPS, bT, etc...).

Do you have a "cannot install app" error? Does the app crash when you launch it?

If it's just safetynet, then it is a known issue.
Sultanxda found a workaround for that.
It was on the front page of xda recently.

It works perfect!
Tested GPS, BT audio streaming, BT phone, DT2W works out-of-the-box when you flash Xenon's kernel, Substratum works great, great job!
DND with alarm worked great.
I've never had any stability issues with Xenon (used LP though, not MM, didn't like the MM build, had a few annoying bugs).
Going to see how battery life is in the next few days.
Not sure if this can be fixed, but the BT volume resets to MAX every time I'm connecting to the car, and the music is blasting On LP it would remember the last BT volume.
in google play, it displays the app is not compatible with my device. I can't install it to my phone.

That's not the ROM's fault, then. If I recall right it won't install on rooted systems, unless you got the .apk and a workaround to make it work. I can't help much with that, sorry.

Great to see you here now !!
Welcome to the Mix section
It's great till now. Fast and smooth. Using with Dragon kernel
excellent rom all ok except a2dp Bluetooth waiting for solve this
thanks
Very good and stable
This Rom is smooth and fast with dragon kernel but it looks like it has the same speakerphone echo like RR. Great job.
Hi there...
Thanks for the great rom. It's amazing, it's handle it self a lot better than any other rom I have tried so far. I have tried them all ?.
I have been using RR since the first unofficial release and I can say for sure this rom Is more stable . It handle the graphics better and most importantly to me it handle substratum theme engine light years better. Also, so far Magisk seems to be more stable but a little bit slower on DU.
Thanks for both developer though?.
One thing I noticed, I flashed the rom with the latest mini dynamic gapps and it force closes on me at the very beginning, during set up process, I wasn't able to set it up as a new device nor an old device. I tried the rom with nano gapps and it seems to work perfectly. Keep in mind I don't use Google Now nor the OK GOOGLE.

Yes it's very good, I used Bean's gapps and using old Google now , no assistant and doesn't work from lock screen.
I will be releasing a new build in the coming days that will include the Dragon kernel because it is performing well and i really like it. As well as a hopeful fix for a2dp. I will also look into the speakerphone echo but no promises on that just yet, it is due to the OSS audio that we now use.

Just updated camera from PS and it saves video as still image. Tried another camera app with same results.
Any news
I donwloaded and clean-flashed this rom yesterday. All seemed to go well, flashed completed with no errors, flashed gapps and booted. But on the second screen of the configuration, when asked whether to copy from device or start as new phone, installation app crashed with a message saying the app had stopped. Couldn't get passed that point.
Went back to twrp and wiped and flashed again but same thing.
I will try today to donwload zips again and try one more time. See if I get lucky
Any ideas on the matter?
And any news of that new build??
Thanks!

Newest gapps, downloaded today/yesterday maybe? As new as possible.
And buddies, if there are news or updates the developer will let you know for sure. Do you think always asking for it will make him release it faster or what?
