[Q] CWM for D70 Pro 2? - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I am a new user of android devices and I am very excited I got one. Although it is not a popular one so I have some compatibility problems when it comes to flashing custom ROMS.
My tablet is an ICOO D70 Pro 2, which according to AnTuTu its a rk30sdk phone model and rockchip is the manufacturer. It has a dual core arm 7 1.6Ghz and a Mali 400 gpu. I recently installed CWM from playstore but it says it is an unsupported device.
First of all can I install any ROM on this device and if yes can I manually install CWM or use another tool instead?
Thanks in advance
P.S for any other info please ask me
Rossi

anyone?
Did I post this in a wrong place or no one knows/cares about this?

No you can only install rom's made for the device although this device is known by several names.... D70 Pro II, NATPC X2 etc.
You can't install CWM until we have a working update.img. I've provided a rom dump of the rooted rom here for someone with more knowledge to create an update.img: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/42737-rom-dump-of-rooted-d70-pro-ii/

Oh, that is unfortunate Hopefully someone will give this a try....
So if someone manages to implement an update.zip and we have CWM on our devices, we will be only able to use cwm for backup and restore? not flashing other roms?
Sorry about my newbie questions.

Currently no other rom's but the ICOO factory image exist. If at some point in the future someone creates one for this model under any of it's names then you can either use CWM if it's available or use the pc flash program that comes with the ICOO factory image or possibly even be able to flash via sd card....all that will depend on the author of the rom.
Perhaps you should browse the slatedroid "unlisted rk3066 tablets" forum I linked to, to show the rom dump as it has more general information you probably want to know.

This post seems to be where to start for CWM it seems there are also some roms that work on this device as well I will be testing later this week as my sister has the tablets I bought.

Just received my d70pro ii yesterday stock ROM 20121220, rooted, romdump, would that help in making the CWM? any link to forward romdump to?
TIA,

[Q] General Questions about ROM´s

Hey,

So, why I cant install a Nexus4 ROM on a SGS3?
I love the new UbuntuOS but I have a MT6577 processor phone, what are the Requirements that I can run the UbuntuOS
I hope this Question is not so stupid
Thanks..

Each phone has different hardware and so a kernel compiled with the drivers for this hardware, as well as changes to suit the hardware within the ROM (for example screen sizes, different sensors etc)
Android is not like windows/linux you can not simply install one ROM from one device to another
the current system requirements for UbuntuOS are found here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/phone/operators-and-oems
Thanks for this Answers
is it possible to extract the Kernel and put it into another ROM.
And if my Phone bricked caused by a false ROM, cant I flash the Old ROM or at least flash the Recovery?

Sure you can install Ubuntu Desktop on an ARMV7-based android device.
See this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1872752
What is more, Ubuntu for Phone may be released soon. Just wait for a few months.

I was wondering if there is a way to root it and if there is any custom rom available for it.
Ive searched the whole forum and didnt find anything related...
Best regards..
I also have this tablet and found that there is a lack of information regarding CWM installation and Roms (official and custom ones).
I read on another forum that someone managed to install a cyanogenmod on it...

I think it depends on which rom you use, rom cook or stock.
If you use rom cook then you can find a rom in I9500 Development section.
If you use stock rom then you can download the suitable version here: www.samsung-updates.com/‎
You're gonna need odin, Kies to flash the rom. Further instructions you can search in the forum I think.

Sorry I don't really get it. Basically is your phone Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 (causer there are different version for Galaxy S4 I9505, I9506...).
You can check this by going to Settings ->More-> About Device-> MOdel number to make sure.
Regarding the SPRD, where is it on the phone ? I think it means Singapore.

Hi,
The phone is a clone, not an original Samsung, it was made in china. The SPRD I think stands for spreadtrum. After some research it came to a conclusion that this phone are also known as Feiteng.
So my main problem is not sure what rom to use.

Hi Charles, I have the same mobile than yours, if you want I can spend the rom, but has a couple of problems, 1-supuesamente this rooted but using apps as root unninstaller, the app gives a message that says "your device is not rooted ... "but with other apps like SET CPU if that is rooted out. if still want it I'll pass, but could you tell me the exact steps to extract the rom. and you could send your rom that you will try to fix that problem of yours. PD maybe the problem is that you put your other launcher and you selected as the default, and surely this launcher is not supported by your device which produces a black screen. ee had problem when you install a miui launcher. regards PD2 if accomplished putting on the ro stock or you fixed your problem I pray you send me the link to download the rom or I upload the back up of your rom.

Never ever try flashing a rom that's not meant for your specific device model cos that's bound to brick it. As for the recovery you'd be better off searching the place where u found the rooting method for it. But remember never to flash anything that's not meant for u abd always have a backup at hand.
THANKS

By then I suggest you download android tuner pro. Its a paid app available on the play store and is capable of doing almost everything that you'll expect a custom rom to do. Also have a look at the thread in my signature. That'll help you a lot too and with much lesser risk of damaging your device.

[Completed] Lenovo A820 - Custom ROM

Hi. I would like to have a custom ROM on my Lenovo A820 device. It has stock rom with S147 kernel but there's no CWM for S147. I was looking for a full pack ROM (S135, S150) so I could flash it via SP Flash tool but I found packs for recovery usage only (except the S147 > no CWM). Do you have any idea how to solve this?

Hello, and welcome to XDA! I can't actually find much development for your device on XDA, much of it is outdated, but I would suggest you ask here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help, just in case someone can point you in the right direction. You will need to register in order to post. The only CWM recovery I can find for your device is two years old and I wouldn't recommend flashing it.
Good luck!
Does it support the S147 kernel? At the moment I can't call to anyone, because the IMEI is missing in the device. Google Play store is missing too and the phone can be only in Chinesse or English. If the CWM recovery that you found support the S147 kernel, then I would be really happy, because I don't know how to move from the S147 to any "normal" ROM with root.
But thank you for the reply!

Hi! Normally, CWM supports any kernel as long as you choose a version that is meant for your phone.

Hi. CWM worked fine year ago for me when it has a S135 kernel, but now the phone always says "FACTORY MODE" even if I flash it by different versions of CWM for A820. It's interesting because there is CWM for all types of kernels for A820 except the S147 so I thought it could be the problem.
Thank you again!
