i'm new in the area of smartphones. I have the htc hd2 and a PC with winXP.
Using ActiveSync 4.5 you cannot ...
- choose the contact folder for the sync if you have more than one.
- select fields you want to sync
- set direction of the sync
- and you o not get a preview before syncing.
I'm trying to figure out how to sync my phone with outlook in a more intelligent way. Who can help?
i found a software ...

i just got my htc wildfire and i'd like to import my calendar (in mozilla sunbird, but i can change it into thunderbird) onto my phone
i've read things about apps for windows mobile etc but i haven't found the right sollution for this
i've got htc sync installed onto my computer but whe i'd like to syng calendars i can't even turn on the sync option.....
thx in advance
The "On" buttons for syncing those two categories are greyed out.
I really would like to be able to sync my contacts to PC so I can edit them easier, since lots of duplicates show up in the Messaging contacts menu.
Any idea what I can do?
I have the exact same problem. Did you ever find a solution?
Have you downloaded and installed HTC Sync software on your PC.

I assume you aren't using a Google account for your contacts, the Sense contact database will use the HTC Sync software and want to hook into Outlook (or something else) on the PC. However, with a Google account, you can sync your contacts to the cloud and view them in GMail on the pc and edit there.
HTC Sync is installed on my home computer and at work. I'm trying to sync my phone with Outlook 2007. I'm not worried about my contacts so much as I would like to sync with my calendar in outlook, so any meetings I have on my computer at work, will show up on my phone.
I was able to use HTC Sync with the Inspire to load Contacts with no problem. I did not do the calendar, since I sync that with Goolge. Google contacts cannot deal with all the contact notes I have in Outlook.
Be sure to get the latest HTC Sync.

You have to run HTC sync as an administrator in Win7.

I can do that at home, but at work I have XP and it doesn't work there either.
After having the same problem with calender button being greyed out in HTC SYNC 3 i might have found another solution to fix this.
My HTC Sync 3 (and previous versions) used to sync everything i wanted but after a system restore to an earlier date 2 months ago it stopped syncing the calender items from outlook 2003. Yes i've only just noticed that it's not been syncing!!
1/ I tried going back to earlier versions of htc sync but that didn't work.
2/ I tried running HTC Sync as administrator but that didn't work.
3/ I installed a fresh copy of HTC Sync (all versions) with msconfig items modified and that didn't work.
4/ I removed all traces of HTC Sync and installed MyPhoneExplorer and that didn't work as well......that then led me to believe that the problem couldn't be with my HTC Sync.
5/ What fixed it for me was a detect and repair in MS office 2003 (through add and remove programs) and also i did a detect & repair in outlook 2003 itself as well. You might need the office install disc as it needed some cab files during the repair.
I then installed HTC Sync 3 ver 5511 again and the calender button is now back and selectable again....Hey presto.
I can only assume the windows restore featire to an earlier time might have thrown a spanner in the works.
Where can I get the HTC Sync app?
I use it for HTCSense.com (phone finder/other).
Thanks.

No.
HTC Sync works on all HTC Android devices, but not Windows Phone ones.
HTC Sync Manager only works on select HTC Android devices.
