Hello,
I have a Verizon Galaxy S III, new, just followed the tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875914,
I used Rom Manager and tried to flash CM 10 from my external sd card and I got the following error message:
"E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed"
from this point I was able to reboot the phone and the phone worked fine (with touchwiz and original android 4.0.4).
I then used EZ Rom from this tutorial to try to accomplish the same thing (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709)
I selected CWM 6.0.1 and it allowed me to select the nightly CM 10 zip file I had put on the external sd,
I then installed from sd the gapps from the same tutorial.
All appeared to be normal and I then rebooted the phone and now all it will do is show the cyanogenmod boot animation.
I have tried taking out the battery and restarting it but that does not fix things, I still get the cyanogenmod boot animation and nothing else.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Sorry, I have searched the forums but cannot find an answer.
Regards,
M
Also, I believe I had accomplished rooting and unlocking correctly with the exception of no audio "Unlocked" message--that is, I only got a "your phone is unlocked" message on screen when I used the unlock app. I did not get the audio as the tutorial said I would.

First off, thank you kintwofan for taking the time to help me, I appreciate it.
So I pulled the battery, held volume up+home key+pwr and was able to get into recovery,
I selected data reset
Now when I boot up the phone the cyanogenmod boot animation appears and I get a message "unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped and I can select ok
then I get a message set up wizard has stopped.
should I pull the battery and try to install from sd card the CM10 nightly zip file again?
Thanks,
I would say go back to recovery. Factory reset again, under advanced wipe dalvik cache and under mounts wipe system. The flash cm10 and I gapps again. By the way what gapps do you have?

I did the factory reset, then wiped dalvik cache, then I chose format/system under wipes and mount.
I then installed from external sd the CM10 nightly
I did not install the gapps zip file this time,
and rebooted.
now the phone boots up and and appears relatively normal (compared to my Galaxy nexus)
the android version says 4.2.1
However, there is no service, it does not connect to verizon.
if i make the screen black then hit power, the message at the bottom of the phone says "no sim card" but my sim card is installed (haven't taken it out at all)
What should I do next (can't tell you how much I appreciate this--I will pay you!!)

I can see that the gapps file was not for android 4.2.1 but rather 4.1
so starting over with the factory data reset etc, will report back soon, fyi i found a gapps for 4.2.1 here (http://goo.im/devs/PureMod/GAPPS/gapps-jb-20121130-4.2.1-signed.zip

Is what you're referring to a rom from someone else?
Thanks again,

I was flashing over clean rom from my old paranoid android and I was stupid and formated my sd card from the fastboot screen on the phone. I read on XDA that the thing to do is mount, format on computer, place rom on sdcard and install.
The rom is currently on my sd card after I formatted from computer. I am in TWRP and was under install and found the rom zip but it tells me "This operation may install incompatible software and render your device unuseable"
I stopped to ask before I make an expensive paperweight. How do I proceed?
I've never seen twrp say that... I wiped my SD card back in the day and can't remember anything like that. Are you on 1.14 Hboot? Maybe you need to adb boot.IMG first? As long as your sure its Evita ROM should be ok

This is normal. In the last 3 days I've flashed Roms back and forth and twrp WILL list this but only as a warning. It's perfectly fine. It's like a condition to cover everyone's butt except yours, since you (the owner) have taken the opportunity to change software on your phone.
If you've gotten to that screen that means you got the Rom on your sd card. Don't forget to wipe all data and a reset ALL inside of twrp. Flash away!

Reverse the order you typed in your last post. Some Roms give that option before its flashed. However, just do it yourself. Clear cache, dalvick cache, wipe system and then factory reset ALL INSIDE twrp. Don't factory reset outside of twrp.
THEN install Rom from twrp. Notice the warning you mentioned and simply follow the install directions.

Good lord this is terrifying. haha so I installed it and now its bootlooping. I wiped in that order and everything.
NVM. Got it!! My heart stopped lol. Thanks guys.
So i got the intall from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2178402
Wiped dalvik 3 times, wiped cache, formatted system and data.
Then i had to edit the updater-script to remove the first line. After i have done that the rom installed.
After rom installed i installed gapps without doing a restart.
After restart the phone is stuck on the logo show. (Pacman and 3 ghosts + samsung) The animation on the logo is goign so i gave it some time and it never boot up. Tried pulling the battery and another restart, still no go. On my second try i installed the rom without gapps thinking it might have caused the bad boot but it's suck again. Can you guys point me in the right direction? The phone doesnt give any feedback of what is going wrong.
I727, update from sky ICS(june), kernel 3.0(if i remember correctly)

Ok so i have installed newest sky ics again and the install wasnt a problem at all + everything ran fine. Then i went to update clockwork mod, downloaded the original pacman(the one with the line intact) reinstalled without gapps and still no go. I cant figure our the deal with this rob. Even tho im not a rom developer myself i have a strong programming background and i attend an IT college right now. Here's my 2 cents to the developer of PACMAN for Skyrocket.
1st thanks for all you hard work.
2nd. please make indicators during the install to see how is the progress going because right now it's like installing and then sucessfully updated. 3rd first boot should be console boot to indicate what is blockign the freakign rom. I spent my whole day trying to figure this out and noone would help + the app has absolutely no feedback for the user to trouble shoot.
Lol its not the ROM mate. Hate to tell you but its not also bootlooping on install is a common issue for some of you so my guess is you are not searching with proper terms.
Here is your bone: wipe cache and dalvik from recovery if its boot looping like that.

Switch to sk8's in the dev section or twrp never rely on ROM manager for anything on this phone. That still doesn't explain why your phone would reboot while wiping cache.

I have switched to twrp and it looks more advanced. I have tried to do a cache wipe and the twrp hang too. It seem like i cant access the cache E: patiotion. When i try to save logs from the phone i get:
Finished running boot script.
E:Cant open /cache/recovery/log
E:Cant open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Cant open /cache/recovery/last_install
EataManager:; Output_version -- Unable to make
Copied Recovery log to /sdcard (Note the sc card wasnt even in the phone at the time of this)
Also when i tried to do a first dalvic wipe i got the same errors but after the first one i get the wipe complete message.
What are you trying to do right now? You probably had a bad download of pac man when you first started. Did you check md5 checksum? Now you don't have external SD card in? Its hard to help when not clear what you're trying to do.

1. Copy Pacman rom on external sd card.
2. Use latest Twrp and boot into recovery and select 'wipe'
3. Wipe cache, dalvik, Factory reset, system & internal storage.
4. Go back to main twrp screen and select install.
5. Find rom on and External card and install.
You should have no problems. It is a great rom.

You're still on the stock recovery. Uncheck auto-reboot then flash the CWM tar again. Once it says Pass/Reset, unplug, pull the battery, then try booting into recovery again. It should look different now.

No problem. No, flashing the bootchain has absolutely no impact on features within the rom. Honestly, idk how to reintroduce those into your system properly. Maybe there's a mod in the theme & apps section?

Most TW roms have the bubbles re-enabled. Hack must be rom specific tho as it mods several rom specific system files. There is an old hack that brings them back but is no longer recommended as it jacks with carrier network side.
I just rooted my Verizon Galaxy SIII (MF1) via Casual and flashed CM 10.1.2. Only problem is I can't reinstall any of my apps. I've tried pushing apps from my PC to my phone. Downloading while online from the phone itself. I used titanium backup and backed up everything before the flash, but I can't figure out how to access the data I backed up. Sorry, I'm a noob, but I searched for hours and couldn't find a solution to this specific problem.
(Also, my camera hasn't worked since the flash)

Yes, and now I just get a message that says "Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped." As soon as I press OK it pops up again instantly ad infinitum. And now my phone won't boot into recovery!
Go into recovery wipe cache and dalvik reflash the rom and gapps.
Edit: sorry missed the can't get into recovery. Do you have goo manager or rom Manager depending on which recovery you use and reflash recovery via app. If not as next user pointed out Odin is your friend.

Ok I just flashed my stock rooted rom and everything seems to be working just fine. I think I'm going to hold off on flashing a custom rom again. Want to do some more research first. Thanks for everyone's help!
I succesfully added clockwork recovery, and installed the cyanogen mod 10.1 (4.2.2) to my phone, however when I click reboot, it gets stuck on the Samsung Logo
I then took the battery out and did a dalvic cache clear but the same issue occured... My install was succesfull, its just that it gets stuck on the Samsung Logo...
what have I done wrong?? Should I try install a different mod?? Or have I bricked my phone?? Or is there a foolproof way of installing a mod using Odin??
PS: (additional info)
I renamed the mod file before installing if that helps
I have no backup files
the only thing I can access on the phone atm is the Recovery Mode and Download Mode...
You would have backed up your previous rom..try fixing permissions....if not check cynogenmod is for your device or not.... If not download your device os reflash it by installing stock recovery.

I dont want to hijack this thread, but I have basically the same problem. I rooted my GT-I9300 phone and all was well, until I ran "NoBloat" to remove unwanted apps. Thereafter it runs up to the Samsung logo, then I get the following messages in succession: "Unfortunately messaging has stopped", "Unfortunately the process com.android has stopped", "smartcard service has failed" and "unfortunately the phone has stopped". I removed the battery, tried to flash the ROM again using the standard Samsung.tar file to restore to factory settings, but it made no difference. I am able to read the S3 files when linked to my Desktop and I can get it into download mode. I have run out of ideas and need help from the clever members.
