[Q] HTC Sensation SIM restrictions / bootloader - HTC Sensation

Hello.
I know that it's very difficult to help other person is such complicated problems but I beg you for help, because I really need it.
So..
I rooted my HTC Sensation this way:
http://theunlockr.com/2012/09/20/how-to-root-the-htc-sensation-on-hboot-version-1-27-0000/
I unlocked my device aswell.
And now I want to delete sim card restrictions and I simply can't!
My phone is S-ON.
The thing is - I was following this instruction:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
Method 1
When I'm entering "SU" command in Terminal Emulator I have error : /system /bin/SH Su not found.
(I installed SU! I have even root acces, what the?)
Method 2
I'm in Bootloader menu and after 2 seconds I have info that security bla bla bla and I can only reboot my device.
Help me, I have been doing this for 5 hours.
P.S

I simply cannot do this S-OFF.
Wire method made me angry, I was trying to do this for 2 hours, mostly 3.
Is there any other way to disable SIM card restrictions?
Without S-OFF.

Check the sim unlock thread. Some people have been able to find the sim unlock code in the system its self. But if you cannot find it you will have to s-off.

I'm really sorry for bothering you, but about what method are you talking?
Can you link something?
I'm using search engine but I cannot find anything.

try this
clean cache and data of terminal app and then delete it
then install it again
open it and enter su

Usb Brick Fix For Stock Rom User

As My desire is amoled and unbranded i don't know for sure if this tut gonna help Slcd/Branded desire user if some one with slcd or branded desire fix there brick by follow this tut please leave a comment Here.
*To work this Hole Thing Out You need to setup Adb and fastboot in your pc,if you don't know how to do it follow this nice Guide.
http://androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/337356-faq-adb-fastboot-windows-updated-1st-june-2011-a.html
Last few days i saw lots of people having usb brick problem even after they flashed the Ruu.exe or PB99IMG.zip update via hboot that because misc.img is corrupted and they stuck on stock rom without any usb function.Few Days ago i was in the same situation and solved my problem thought i should share this Information with people who need help.
Note-If you usb bricked on s-off device then try this fastboot command to solve this
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0(unblock your sd-card)
fastboot oem eraseconfig(fix misc partition)
if above command don't work then you have to flash a ruu.exe or PB99IMG.zip file via hboot to return to stock
rom usally that fix the usb brick but some time that trick also fails,if that happen then you have to go through the process below.
If your device is branded then create a goldcard and flash a unbranded PB99IMG.ZIP cause maybe this not gonna work on branded device.
I solve my usb brick this way
after return to stock rom via PB99IMG.zip file flash via hboot(didn't fix my usb brick so i had to do the steps below)
1.i unlocked my sd card via fastboot command"fastboot oem enableqxdm 0" sd card recognized by phone and i can browse it via file explorer.
note-you can access your sdcard only via file explorer nothing else so after execute the command download a file explorer from android market.
2.then i copied the visionary+(it gave me temporary root access which is needed to work this whole thing out).
root explorer, terminal emulator apk and those usb bricked update file(image_flash,mtd0.img) to sdcard from pc via card reader and installed them.
before copy those update file on sd card i edited the mtd0.img to put correct cid n rom info via hex editor.
To find cid info
If you don't know your Cid then type this command in fastboot-fastboot oem boot this will show you info about your phone cid.when the info shows up look for‘INFOCID HTC___xxx'
To find The Rom version-Go to Settings>About phone>Software Information and note your Software Number.
3.after that i copied those update file in phone memory to copy file in phone memory you have to set permission for r/w.When open root explorer look at the top left corner you will see mount as r/o mount r/w tap on mount r/w that's it you set permission to read/write on your phone memory and copy the file in
/data/data/ folder and set permission for r/w and execute for those file via root explorer.
4.after that i simply typed this command in terminal emulator
"su
/data/data/flash_image misc /data/data/mtd0.img"
Rebooted my phone and voila usb brick is gone htc sync, usb tethering,sd card mount, charge everything is working and now i am rooted and s-off again
Note-you don't need the rageagainstthecage file which only need if you try to get root access via terminal emulator which is lengthy n complicated but with visionary+ you can get root access with 1 click and it's much easier than typing command in T.E.
If above information helps you to fix Your usb brick Please Leave a comment Here and you can also hit the Thanks button

when you open the mtd0 file with hex editor look for
"HTC_1xx"-your cid
"ClearAutoImage .x.xx.405.x"-your rom value
and edit those according to your cid and rom value information.
i updated the thread with some more useful info so recheck the 1st post.

Glad that it worked out for you about V+ root,TBH i don't know but my opinion is it's safer to use unrevocked for root.

I read it, but a few questions...
( My phone is S-ON )
1. I'm not on a stock rom, but on Insertcoin
2. I can already acces my SD card, so can I skip the first step? Done that yesterday already.
3. Can I use the mtd0.img generator? If yes I have already the file.
4. With step 3, which files must be in /data/data?
5. With step 2, I have super user, so can I use that instead of the root acces thing?

Hi, again
I have a new problem after fixing the USB Brick. I can't root my desire using Unrevoked 3, it was always failed on process uninstalling unrevoked3 system and showed :
Validation error : Backup CID is Missing
do you have any idea for this problem?
thx for your respond
That same error showed up when i tried to root after usb brick but in my app drawer the super user icon showed that means it worked somehow even after the error,so check your app drawer and recovery if you see the su icon and cwm recovery then it worked don't worry about the error

to do it from your computer you need to have adb set up. there are hundreds of guides for that on xda.
what do you mean it "won't work" though? be more specific?

Superboot - HTC One root solution [requires s-off]

[Edit: This requires s-off currently.]
Superboot is a boot.img that when booted, will root your device the first time you boot (installing su and the superuser APK). No need to flash any partitions, no need to mess around with ADB, no messing with the contents of your data partition, no overwriting the shipped ROM on your device, just boot the boot image using the instructions below and you're done!
APPLY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Superboot r1 - DOWNLOAD - MD5: ab9dc381d81f91ce311bd021339b5577
How to use Superboot - Windows, Linux and OSX
Download the Superboot zip file above and extract to a directory
Put your device in bootloader mode - Turn off the phone then turn on with the 'volume up' button pressed to enter the bootloader (see note below)
WINDOWS - double click 'install-superboot-windows.bat'
MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-mac.sh' followed by './install-superboot-mac.sh'
LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-linux.sh' followed by './install-superboot-linux.sh'
Note: You need to unlock the bootloader on your device before you can enter bootloader mode - use the htcdev site to do this.

You could potentially attempt to use tacoroot (universal HTC exploit) and backup your entire /system/app and /data/app folder and then post all of that up so people can get it after they unlock bootloader
But other than that, unless you can find a security exploit that allows you to inject root, then no

Yes, the link in my sig is for all the fools in a forum I used to be in (gt i9000), every day there would be a new "ROM" with "super tweaks, battery saves, ultra super mod" etc, where the only difference would be a theme and some settings changed. I.e., not a real ROM. Kids.

OK Paul my HTC bootloader is unlocked by HTC method. I can get to the Recovery and want to install your Superboot but the options are diferent to what i have seen on the Galaxy S. On the HTC One the options for recovery are 'apply from SD.....' etc there doesn't seem to be an option for 'Install from SD.......'

[Q] Removing /system/xbin/.tmpsu

Good morning everyone!
I need some help in removing the file /system/xbin/.tmpsu I found on my nexus 5 after removing SuperSU.
I have to send my phone back for warranty because of broken usb port (so no fastboot, adb...).
Analyzing the file, I found that it'is a normal su executable (correct me if I'm wrong), probably used by SuperSU itself to clean its stuff during removal: so I tried in terminal emulator to gain su privileges with .tmpsu, remount /system as rw and remove .tmpsu, but it's a no-win... Any other idea?
Additional info: the phone now is completely stock (ready for warranty), so no cwm or twrp... everything ok apart of that executable, and I'm worried they will complain about it
Thank you!!!
PS: everyone of us rooted and on stock should have that file on his phone; you can use "strings .tmpsu" and see it really is the normal su executable by chainfire...!

If you have removed both SuperSU AND the su binary, there is nothing you can do now.
Although they're not...
1) going to look for these files.
2) reject warranty for a hardware issue not related to root anyway

Oh I see what you're saying. Sorry

[Q] I have a problem with data being deleted on reboot?

Hi,
I rooted my phone because I wanted to use an application called FolderMount, so I could store big chunks of data from apps onto my SD card.(it seems as though the SD card is useless on Android)I am using an HTC Desire 601, with Android version 4.2.2. Now my problem is that, I'm having an error with FolderMount because of something to do with external SD card r/w permissions.(no this is not specific to the app, it's a software wide problem, that's why I'm posting here.) So I found a "fix" that involved editing platform.xml and adding a line. However, everytime I try to edit it, either the phone just reboots, or no changes are made. Basically, the system folder is denying me r/w access. In root explorer there is a feature to mount it temporarily as r/w, but then if I reboot my changes are lost. This is a problem which I think is also not allowing me to install Busybox. Please help me with this. Thank you.

You said you "ROOTED" your phone. That means you have some kind of "SUPERUSER" app installed. I hope so at least

Oh okay I have the SuperSU app it's SuperSU v1.93 I don't know if it's the latest version. Sorry, I'm new to this rooting stuff. I only got this phone this Monday, and I only got to know about rooting the day after.

Open SuperSU and check if access is granted for "FolderMount"
Do you use free FolderMount? Thats limited to 3links at all.
What type of sd card do you use?

Yes, of course access is granted. I have only tried to create one link so far...so it can't be anything to do with the number of links permitted in FolderMount. I mean, I haven't been able to create a single working link. Precisely, the error I'm getting in FolderMount has something to do with sd card r/w permissions(I've linked a screenshot;maybe you've had this problem before and you solved it?)
The only possible fix I can find is the edit to platform.xml. I've contacted the developer; notice how it says "Attempt to patch my ROM"? Well the developer told me that when the patch is applied and when I reboot, the patch is erased because of the reboot(he said that seems to be the case) so I need to find a way to ensure that it isn't erased. I'm having the same problem here; when I make an edit, it's erased either immediately or after reboot. So that's why I need to find a way to fix this. Thanks, if you have a possible fix.
I've tried using DirectoryBind, but it doesn't work and I hear it's been broken since 4.2. I don't know how to revert back to a previous Android version for my device, so I'm stuck.

Some files e.g. related to kernel will be generated on every boot. In that case you can't change em permanently. BUT you can try another solution so far Create a ext2/ext4 partition on your external sd and use Link2SD or APP2SD pro
In the superSU setting, try enabling option allow apps requesting root permission at start up(on boot).

This recovery has a built-i feature to parttition sd-card. Pls keep in mind that all data on sd will be deleted during the process. i look out for a guide.
Your recovery / Rom (Kernel) has to support this feature. I can't find this information. So pls be patient. I'll pm you as soon as i found a safe solution.

So I just have to do that? Just boot into recovery, then use the partition sd-card feature in my recovery, and then that's it? My sd card will be partitioned? Ok, then I download..Link2SD?
