I've owned my TF700 for about two months now, and as I am coming from the Mortorola Xoom the one accessory I've really been missing is the standard charging dock. Not a fan of having to fumble around with the cable and connector every time I want to charge my tablet.
So being on Christmas break I sat down today to make my own charging dock; total cost for this project ran about $14 (Cdn). Here is a list of materials used;
1mm Plasticard stock;
Spare 40cm Asus charging cable;
10x hex bolts;
Spray paint;
Hot glue gun; and
Hobby knife.
Onto the build... I only starting taking pics after I had already gotten the basic frame together;

Here is the first test fit of the tablet in the dock;
The charging connector test fit into the dock;
Then a close up of the frame I built around the connector to hold it in place;
Next the connector was secured to the internal dock frame with a large quantity of hot glue to ensure it could withstand repeatedly attaching and detaching from the tablet;
And then the rest of the shell was completed for the dock;
The dock is now in working order, but tomorrow will bring final sanding, filling a few small imperfections and then painting. I'll update this thread with finished photos.
nice job!
Finished dock;
very nice!!!!
Wow!
Very sweet.
You are definitely a Do It Yourselfer to the max :highfive:

This project looks really good. I have been thinking about making my own dock for a while. Did you use hot glue on the plastic card stock?

No, I used a liquid cement that is made for use with plasticard, it's the kind you brush on and dries within about 15 seconds. The hot glue was used to secure the charging cable connector and the steel nuts i used to add weight to the dock.
Looks good.. nice job.
Very professional looking job!:good: Where do I place my order?
I'd definitely buy one.
Looks really good, nice job !
What launcher is that?
Hey , Pretty sweet work!
Can you please post dimensions or some sort of draft/schemes?I think it will be highly appreciated
For v2.0 you should include the little nubs tat the keyboard dock has to help hold it in place, very nice looking dock though

What did you use to add the green led to the front? I'm assuming green means that battery is full, so what are you using that measures the battery level and outputs is reading to an led?

Hey everyone,
I got a little ancy waiting for a official G2 dock so I decided to rig my own.
Total cost was about 10$ The most expensive part being a old hd2 dock I bought from Hong Kong for the wiring and adapter.
Now this is still unfinished but it is functional for syncing and charging simultaneously.
So I figured I would share my cheesy work.
(Version 1 Pics deleted due to age)
Ok, So I decided to use a saw and take a little more time.
Here is version 2.0

I am now done with this prototype. Just did a quick finish with some hammertone paint and sticky foam.
Time to move on to a better lower profile design.

One question, is the charging cord well mounted in there? I sometimes struggle plugging my phone in and it seems like the tip will just break if I try to push it in any more.

Yes, its solid. What I did was loosely placed the connector in the dock and plugged in the phone. Once I had the proper angle, I hot glued the cable while still having the phone connected. Then after it hardened it stayed in perfect placement.

But this has been a fun project.

very slick work. I wonder how long it will take HTC or T-Mobile to come up with their own model??? Too bad the G2 doesn't have the brass pins like the Nexus One has for very easy docking. Nexus One figured this out over 9 months ago, why not put this in the G2? I have both phones and the dock is a must. Come on T-Mobile, the G2 needs accessories and the dock is at the top of the list.
Seems like a modified battery door cover could be added to add the contacts for the battery. Not so easy for the microusb.
Has anyone seen or found a case for the Samsung Infuse that has a kick-stand in it?
This would allow you to place the phone on a table and not have to lean it against things to watch movies or whatever.
Thanks
I've seen them on e-bay.
Cranky...
there does not appear to be anyone currently offering them ...I too have seen them..but can not seem to find one now

i have the exact same thing at home for my nightstand!
While it is not a case I found something that works well for me. I use 2 binder clips as it makes a great stand for me and I can keep it in my pocket for when I need it.
Take a Large Clip and 1 Medium binder clip.
The large one keep like normal while the medium one you turn both of the silver rings to one side so you have a backwards L with the back part sticking straight up.
Then take the large clips and clip it on the silver rings as clost to the black as you can.
This holds the phone very very well and I am able to watch movies during my lunch with a normal head set pluged into it. So this does mean my head truns some but not to much and it does not move at all. This works with or without the silicon ruber thing around the phone. With out the rubber you can also do it with the small and medium binders to make it even smaller. I think lifehacker has pic on doing this.
I hope this will help someone.
i keep this in my wallet..

One second ill re add pics on the back and battery. There wont be a pic of it in the phone tho.
Just ordered one. I'll post my thoughts when I've used it.
I'm modding the S4 to work with the Palm touchstone wireless charging dock and found out that even without modding the phone the touchstone has pretty strong magnets that hold the phone all by itself. When I get some copper tape I'll finish the mod and show my results.
If you have the touchstone you can use it as a magnetic dock like I am currently. It's pretty cool, also it holds the phone pretty strongly, In fact I can use the phone while it's on the dock. Even when charging (usb cable connected) it still holds the phone nicely...

Thanks.

Do all the Palm touchstones use qi technology or is that what you're modding. I have already ordered the module from wiqiqi for the S 4 for $25 bucks but didn't like the big flat plate they sold. This would be a great alternative for work.

No, the palm is not QI. You will not be able to mix and match coils and chargers.. The Palm coil and Touchstone only with work together.
i´ve done it last year with the S3 and Note 2. Now i did it with the S4 and it works like a charm
Here are my Pictures.
great work! Which of the terminals is positive and negative, and also, which ports do you connect
i used .the left connector´s. It was more luck that it works because i don´t know why there are on the right side another connectors .
I couldn´t say which one is the positive and which is nagative because i didn´t test it. I´ve connect it like on my pictures and it work´s.
I´ve used the left connector´s because they are the same then on S3 and Note 2. I think the right connector´s are for NFC because the original Samsung Cover is "extreme" fat
With my solution there is a little camber in the Battery Case and nothing else. That means that you can use any nice thin Protection Cover for the S4 and it charges through the Cover.
That looks really nice.
Did you do any soldering?
Very cool. How effective is charging with this? How long does it take? Thanks.

Hi XDA,
I have got a TF101 which fell by a mistake on the asphalt. At least, it's still working like a charm.. but I'm having problems with the aluminium case. After that accident the aluminium case and the plastic bar between the aluminium and the screen are starting to get separated and now they're so separated that it starts to be seen what's inside of the tablet. I am worried about it, please help me or teach me how to disassembly it correctly and how to fix it.. Thanks! Here are some images (Sorry for bad quality..):

Try to take the photos from a bigger distance, then your camera can focus it.
I can't see the actual problem on your photos.
No urls at this moment (first post here on xda ), but you can search for "TF101 Disassembly" on youtube
I'm on university wifi and it's blocked, but fredurico over at transformerforums and here has posted some nice guides and information on repairing the bezel/taking it apart etc. Might wanna search around here and there and around to get more disassembly and repair info, as well as follow above ^^
Can you PM me mplease a link? I can't find it.
So my bezel, the brown part of the tablet which has the buttons and bangs is scratched so after I dropped it, the asphalt left a white 0,5cm long and 0,2cm wide scratch and it is seen from a long distance. I don't really like it and I always get mad when I look at it lol. I want to take out the bezel and maybe stick the bezel&the plastic together as after I scratched it they left a 0,1cm distance between them. Because of this, the screen has left a 0,1cm distance between it and the plastic part so now I have dust particles under my screen and they're bothering me. The bezel has bent where the white scratch is so now the case looks crappy. All I need to do is to take off the bezel and stick it and the plastic case, and then make the bezel straight somehow so it looks like before. I want to know if there are any risks of opening the TF and taking off the bezel, which are they and how can I take it off? I don't have that plastic item that is shown in videos with which I must take the bezel off after I take the screwers off. Also, how can I fix the bezel's bent part and the distance between it an the screen? Thanks and sorry for my english.

If you're careful popping it off then no risk, but there are some small plastic clips that hold the bezel in place, they are easy to snap if you are too rough
Use a flat lever like in the video to pop it off, I used a screwdriver and broke a couple of mine
Nevermind then lol.
