Hey I was wondering what exactly does turning off notifications does is messenger? When I click it it just says notifications off for 8 hours, but in the app I can still see who's online so I'm assuming I'm still logged into chat. Does anyone know how to log out of fb messenger every night at a specific time without having to do it manually?

Is anyone else having the problem with gmail and sending/ syncing the inbox? it just says "sending... " and never sends. Then I go and go through all my email on my phone and delete things and then when I go on the computer a half hour sometimes 3-4 hours later all my mail is unread and just like I never read anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions or another app that I could use besides the web app.

Yes, have had the same problems too. Not sure what the resolution is.
From what I've experienced, if you don't have auto-sync turned on, then you have to hit the menu button and hit refresh to manually send/receive again.
I have that checked, cannot add specifically "Gmail". My Gmail Contacts and Cal. are all being synced. Gmail will recieve messages but will not sync them with the gmail server after I delete/archive stuff.
I'm having this same issue.
Did anyone find a solution?
i turned off syncro on the googlevoice app on my captivate, i tried starting the app rebooting my phone but it still syncs, the only notification i set is through text, but on my phone i get notified for missed calls, voicemail and texts through the app, how the heck do i turn it off.
now if i turn off background sync under account management then it stop, but that stops everything else like market.
somebody must have a solution to this, the reason im so anal about this is because i only have 200mb on my plan

I'm going to take a good guess here and say no one has answered you because no one understands what you are asking for.
You ask how to turn of synchronization in Google Voice, but you want the app to send you text message notifications? You need to go log into your Google Voice account on a PC and set the text messages notifications there and log out of Google Voice if you want it to stop the app from synchronizing.
If what you want to do is turn off notifications, then go into the settings and turn them off, but remember, you can not turn off missed calls notifications within Google Voice. Those have nothing to do with Google Voice. If the voice mail notifications are coming from your regular carrier, those too have nothing to do with Google Voice.
The easiest way I see of getting it to work like you want to is to set text message notifications from your home computer and just sign out of your Google Voice app and that will stop it from synchronizing until the next time you log in with the app.
So i have to sign out to make it stop synchronizing? Then what does the synchronize setting in the google voice app do. Does it have no function? Whether on or off it syncronizes everytime i get a text.
Essentially it syncs in the background when i don't want it to. Before i could be logged in and it wouldn't sync untill i refreshed the app

no one has told me why its still syncing when i have syncing turned off
I was wondering if anyone was experiencing something similar. I have set up facebook chat and it works great. In fact, it might work too well. When I am actively logged on using facebook chat on the pc, my phone receives the entire conversation and gives the text message alert each time i recieve a message during the chat.
Anyone know how to disable this or work around it so that when your chatting on the pc the phone doesnt receive the messages in real time? I guess its not that big of a deal..just annoying.

Just go to Messaging -> online -> status -> offline when you want to temporarily disable it. I don't think there is anything else you can do.
Appear Offline works too. If you want stay connected to MSN and disconnect from Facebook.
Solution:
Deleted Google account from my phone and re-added it. Hangouts seem to work now
Bit of a weird issue, wondering if anyone has some thoughts. I don't receive notifications from a Hangout, SMS notifications work fine from the Hangouts app though. I've checked the usual sources; I'm not reading the notifications on another machine, and I have notifications enabled in the settings. I also don't seem to be syncing properly, as in the Hangout messages I receive take a long time to show up even when I have a strong network connection. Any thoughts on what this might be?
I'm on the CM 11 M1 snapshot.
EDIT
So looking around it seems the Google account associated with the Hangouts is reporting a sync error however when I go to see what the error is no Google component has an error. How would I go about logging the account syncing, the log might have the info there

Yup, network type does not matter.

I had this exact same problems for the past couple days:
- not being able to receive Hangout messages
- SMS worked fine from Hangout app
- sending Hangout messages were ok
- sync errors in APP DATA
I tried everything from logging on/off from other devices, and logging on/off from the Nex5 and rebooting several times. None of this worked. Last night, I completely deleted my google account on the Nex5 and relogged in. That did the trick. But I'm still experiencing sync error under APP DATA.

This seemed to work, thanks man
So when running Skype on my galaxy s6 (t-mobile variant but it's an app so I thought it might be all variants with this issue).
It will stay logged in and I will keep receiving messages for a short time. Even when I keep running skype in the background I will not receive notifications after a while like more than 30+ mins.
So, I have to launch the app or go through my recents and it acts as it's signing in and then I get my new messages.
It even says before you log out for the first time that you can stay logged on and keep receiving notifications without consuming the battery (which I think is bull, too).
Anyone else have this issue? Is it the app of the phone? Or the provider? This happens on data or wifi.
Also have same problem, was solved with "clear app data" and login with own account again

I'll try it out, thanks. Did you log in with your microsoft account or skype account, btw?
I believe since you mentioned you are not getting notifications after a while it is related to the same bug as email notifications.
check this out.
