During the day I use a Google Talk client on my computer as I do a lot of communication using it throughout the day. The problem is, responding to a message on my computer does not clear the notification on my phone. Every time someone sends me a new message, I have to go around to every device I have Google Talk logged in and clear all the notifications. It's very annoying.
What I would like to see is similar to email, where reading the message on my computer clears the new mail notification on my phone, and vise versa.
Anyone else frustrated by this, and does anyone know of a Google Talk or Jabber client that has this functionality?
Hey there, I hope you're doing great!
I'm creating this thread because I was wondering if the issue I am about to describe is a known bug or if it only happens with me.
The problem I am experiencing is sporadic, as I cannot determinate a specific cause for it; it sometimes happen right after reboot, and sometimes after long usage, after a call, simple idling, etc.
Of course the issue is that when I receive an SMS message from a contact, I see it pop-up at the top as a notification, but when I want to see it in the threaded conversation, it is simply not there. I can continue texting, and they continue receiving my messages properly, as do I... only by looking at the top status bar though, because other than that, the threaded conversation remains the same during the whole exchange.
My phone is not rooted, it is a brand new LG-P999 from Videotron (They call it the LG Optimus 2X here!) and it runs Froyo 2.2.2!
Thank you very much for your help, and of course, excuse me if this issue has already been looked into! Otherwise, have an awesome day!
Is it possible you are using a third-party text app? I ask because I mainly use Google Voice for my texts, but every now and then someone will text my phone number, which of course means it goes to the phone's message app. As you mentioned, you get the notification and can respond just fine. However, if I don't pay attention, and go to my Voice messages, their messages will not appear, and I have to switch to the built-in message app to see their conversations.

Thanks for your reply, but I am actually using the stock SMS app!
Hmph, started looking into the "Messages" app settings and found something called "Text messages on SIM card" and found all the messages I was "missing".
What causes this?! =O
*EDIT*
I looked on the Internet a bit but found nothing pertaining to the LG-P999/G2X. I, however, found information on the matter saying that this is usually caused by reaching the maximum capacity of SMS messages in your phone. I have about 120 messages all in all, which is certainly a very small number! I also have about 4.50GB of free space on my phone!
Thanks for the help!
This is a known issue from LG... Call the tech support and open a ticket.
Voicemail notif is causing this issue... default storage is change to simcard by the OS...

Thanks a lot, it is definitely a relief to know that this is a known bug. Do you know how we can change the default storage of the voice mail, or I need to root?
Thanks!
I just wanted to add that I successfully found a permanent workaround to this problem by installing GoSMS Pro! No more "disappearing" text messages

I understand that when I am signed in on gTalk on both phone and laptop at the same time, an incoming message will be notified on both the phone and the laptop. Is there any way to make it so that when I am also on laptop, the notification will not come up on the phone?
beside gtalk, i also used msn and facebook chat which also support multiple sign in. apparently, this is the behavior of the im client, only gtalk is smarter, once you reply to chat it will know where you are currently active and won't notify at other devices. the dumbest is of course facebook, where it will send multiple message to all clients non stop for few days.
so i guess a better place to ask this maybe here http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Talk
Whenever i start using MSN chat or Facebook chat on the messaging hub using wifi, i will only be receiving chat messages for the first 5 minutes. After that, no more messages come through.
I know my wifi is on because its connected to the power supply, even if i set the locked screen to never, i can never get a constant flow of chat messages after a few minutes. The only way to start receiving again is by switching off/on wifi...
I know im not receiving anymore messages because i have my computer MSN logged in (and it is receiving messages still but no on phone side)
I know im connected to the internet still when i stopped receiving messages (because i go into IE to see if it still works)
...SO WTF??????
(ps. i seem to be getting the same trouble with 3G as well)

What phone is this? What OS version? Please give us more details.
I am considering getting this watch. However, one important question:
My Nexus 4 is running data only (No Voice Plan). I use Skype for phone calls and Sliding Messenger (through Google Voice) for Text Messages. Will I be able to see Incoming Calls from Skype? Will I be able to see and respond to text messages through Sliding Messenger (Google Voice)?
TIA!
i think you can see who is calling you from skype by using watchit! app that push notifications from your phone to skype. but you won't have answer/decline funcionality.
you will be able to see your text messages but you can't respond to them - i think to do that you need 3rd party app that gives you keyboard funcionality.
Just seeing who is calling and an indication of missed calls would be enough. What is the link for the watchit! App?
Likewise, just seeing the text messages would be enough. I can reply from my phone. So, there is a way to see the text messages even though they would NOT be coming into the Messaging App on the phone, but into Google Voice?
