Whenever i start using MSN chat or Facebook chat on the messaging hub using wifi, i will only be receiving chat messages for the first 5 minutes. After that, no more messages come through.
I know my wifi is on because its connected to the power supply, even if i set the locked screen to never, i can never get a constant flow of chat messages after a few minutes. The only way to start receiving again is by switching off/on wifi...
I know im not receiving anymore messages because i have my computer MSN logged in (and it is receiving messages still but no on phone side)
I know im connected to the internet still when i stopped receiving messages (because i go into IE to see if it still works)
...SO WTF??????
(ps. i seem to be getting the same trouble with 3G as well)

I received my Touch Pro yesterday...
i had so many HTCs, but this one is the first to show this problem.
When in standby (screen off) i cannot receive emails. When
I turn it back on, all the emails are coming in, which is annoying,
considering that i might not be aware of important emails for hours.
Any ideas how to solve that???
Thanks
UPDATE : If someone else has this problem, just set your 3G/GPRS connection "HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\[GUID]\Connections\[Connection Name]\Always on" to 1.

How do you receive your emails? push mail or just polling from the server?

Same here, happens to POP3 and RSS feeds too. Data connecton is always on so that's not the prroblem.
Any kind of email service...and MMS as well...
now i am pretty sure, MMS should always push through
I half suspect touch pro 'tries' to download messages while 'asleep' and just keeps trying and trying using battery power along the way. I'm shocked how quickly my battery is going down on this device.

yes, this behaviour is very suspect. On my Tytn and Shift, everything seems alright. No problem receiving mail and MMS while sleeping.
The biggest problem is, it doesnt notify me of an incoming message, simply because, there is no message incoming while asleep.
I will try to see if there is anything in the registry about this.
I still have no luck.
When the Touch Pro is in stand by, it wont retreive any MMS or emails.
No matter what I try. I sent so many test mails from the web and other phones...
i always have to turn the phone back on to receive the mails

It is because the Touch Pro shuts down the wifi connection in standby mode, and when you turn the phone back on, it reconnects to the acces point. This is what we should prevent, I mean the suspending of wifi connection.
odd, I have push email and mine receives email al the time..on or in stand-by mode.
I do remember a setting where it allowed me to set the hours for receiving email..but I can't find it now at all!!

It doesn't depend on push-mail, or imaps, or etc.... It depends on your connection settings. So if you have a phone connection (eg. gprs, edge, 3g, h....) than it'll receive emails because in standby mode it does not shutdown the phone(gsm, wcdma), only the wifi connection. So if you turn off your phone(gsm, wcdma), and set a wifi connection up, I'm pretty sure that it won't receive your mails in standby mode.

But it doesnt do that in my case. I wont receive anything until i turn it back on manually. Even 3G.
It should receive my MMS constantly, same as my Hermes and my SHift.
I've noticed my TP doesn't receive emails when the phone is in stand-by, even if an automatic send/receive schedule is set. This makes it completely useless to me. I mean, what's the point of automatic send/receive schedule, if the phone will be in stand-by 90 % of the time (or for 2 hours straight)? Is there any way to get notifications of new emails even if the phone is in stand-by?
Thanks
Mine works
U have send and receive every 5 mns
Strange, it does work for me (on a POP account with auto send/receive every hour). E-mails come in at night, for instance. They just don't make the phone come out of standby or turn on the screen, but the white LEDs around the centre button provide a visual notification.
You could edit the notifications (settings -> sounds and notifications -> second tab -> new e-mail) for a more persuasive signal (vibration).
Are you referring to cellulair download or WiFi download? Remember that WiFi is disabled upon entering standby, unless otherwise configured using Advanced Configuration Editor. For cellulair download the right network connection must be selected if WiFi was used before. Are you able to receive emails on the proper automatic schedule if you don't put / allow the device to go into standby?
hotmail also works fine with the setting - update when message received (options set in windows live). In fact hotmail acts as a very good push service for those of you that want delivery of email as it arrives.
Hmm, thats odd. I have two IMAP accounts, and neither update when the device is in stand-by. I'm using 3G data connection to update. I sent myself an email, put the device to stand-by, and waited. Send/receive was scheduled for every 5 mins. After absolutely no activity in about ten minutes, I woke the phone. A little after that I get a sound & popup notifications of a new email. Also, the LED around the centre button start to flash. If I don't allow the phone to enter stand-by, it receives new messages as it should.
Well, at least it should work. I was afraid there for a while that this was a feature rather than a bug. Hopefully it'll get fixed with a ROM update at the latest. I'm using standard 1.90.401.1 WWE at the moment.
this was a problem we had with the kaiser....hopefully we dont have the same problem here...
Well, this is interesting. I turned off HSDPA/HSUPA (I have an upper limit of 384 kbps anyway), and enabled automatic send/receive when roaming. After this the auto s/r works also in stand-by. Good enough for me!
Hm hey guys,
I'm facing the same problem with my Raphael.
I get my emails forwared via MMS from O2 Germany. Problem that I just realized now, I only get them when I turn my phone on.
So if someone sends me an email at night, I get the MMS with it in the morning when my alarm turns on. Isn't too bad but still a little annoying - what can I do?
I use wireless tether regularly and have noticed that while in a tethered state, the phone no longer receives texts or voicemails.
Is this a "feature" of Google Voice? Making me keep voice open on my browser to notice any incoming messages?
Any way around this?
wierd bc I always tether my laptop w/my phone and dont have any problems whatsoever when 'I'm on the phone, txting, or browsing the web. I'm on stock 2.3.4
Maybe I should have been more specific.
Data will still go to the phone while tethering. I can browse, send texts, etc. It will even receive pushed emails & their notifications.
It will not receive text messages or voicemails though, until after I turn off the tethering.
My suspicion is that it has to do with Voice, and particularly with Sprint's integration of voice.
I was wondering if anyone was experiencing something similar. I have set up facebook chat and it works great. In fact, it might work too well. When I am actively logged on using facebook chat on the pc, my phone receives the entire conversation and gives the text message alert each time i recieve a message during the chat.
Anyone know how to disable this or work around it so that when your chatting on the pc the phone doesnt receive the messages in real time? I guess its not that big of a deal..just annoying.

Just go to Messaging -> online -> status -> offline when you want to temporarily disable it. I don't think there is anything else you can do.
Appear Offline works too. If you want stay connected to MSN and disconnect from Facebook.
This is my wife, and she is on line, and has RCS turned on as I do. The problem is though, I don't see its option under the Google Messages settings anymore. It actually comes and goes for some reason. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Messages will go through when I use SMS/MMS.
Just for reference, I'm on T-Mobile, running Android 13 with OneUI 5.0. Also have cleared the cache in the app, and also cleared it in download mode.
I've gotten this error from time to time too. It is a server connection problem. If either recipient is unable to connect to Google's RCS chat servers, it reverts to SMS/MMS. It normally reconnects on its own.
If it does not reconnect, then turn of the chat service in then re-enable it. It may take a little while (up to several minutes). If chat is enabled on your phone and it still is reverting, then turn off and re-enable chat on your wife's phone.
