Battery and case question - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

What is the best battery to buy that wont need an extended cover? And which case would be the best to buy that is fairly inexpensive? Am needing a new battery and am needing a new case so looking for opinions or links to what would be the best

Well it provides power to charge your battery. It's not an extra battery. If your batteries crap and doesn't hold a charge, it's just going to drain your powerskin fast to keep charging your battery.

Ill try to order the power skin case soon as right now i have no money, any opinions on what battery i should grab aswell?

New 2750 mah battery, best way to break it in?

Hey guys I just upgraded to the extended battery and was wondering the best way to properly break in and how long to charge for the first time, any help would be appreciated thanks

The best way I've seen, in my experience, to "train" a battery is to use it until it dies and then leave it charging overnight.
Yeah I would just let the battery do a couple charge and discharges

No need to do that with lithium batteries, they have no memory. This practice is from the old days of nickel cadmium batteries.

That may be true of the battery but is not for the phone.
Li battery's don't have a liner discharge and each battery has a different personalty lot to lot.
The phone learns the curve of the battery through discharge, so letting it discharge completely once or twice helps the phone more accurately display how much battery is left.
Oh okay guys, thanks fyi this battery is a huge improvement, I def recommend it, I actually used my phone quite a bit and from all day use only used 27 percent of battery and had data on, normally with barely any use id lose around 60 percent if not more with data off.. def like my thunderbolt again
edit: I'm on 3g only so I don't know how battery life would improve on 4g..

just to warn you.. i dont know what rom you are using, but keep an eye on the battery gauge while you are actually using the phone and make sure it's not 'sticking'.. i was running froyo bamfs on my extended and my percentage wouldn't properly update and i would have to restart it to update it or it would jsut randomly show up after a while... anywho i ended up going to GB and back to the stock battery, i hate how f***ing big that stupid thing is... its like holding a house phone.
You should probably clear battery stats and run a battery calibration app so it doesn't stick
Drive it like ya stole it!
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Yeah I always calibrate with every new rom install, but went ahead and did it on the new battery once I was at 100, the battery isn't so bad once you get used to it, the case can have a big difference on the feel of extended battery.
Mostly I love the fact I can use the phone to the fullest and not have to sacrifice anything and still have 70 percent at the end of the night

3500 mAh battery

So its been a full week of testing this battery on my infuse and no lie its amazing. It last about 2x the original battery with full usage. Use as in playing game for 1hour and 30 mins= average 13% drain. Use of Facebook,YouTube, and generally anything that uses the web for about a good 6 hours(not in use every min) average 27% drain. Then next day still have a good amount to last me through the day. First day around 55-65% and second 49-2 or dead. Its really nice, infuse not as heavy(pretty much same weight). Case fit perfect, durable and nice feel to it.

You're talking about the replacement back cover, right?
But as far as I understand, there is no protective outer case (extra protection against dropping etc) suitable for use with the extended battery, right?

Just pick up 3500 mAh... I love the extra time but I already miss my bodyglove case. Tried to modify a cheap rubber case, didn't want to ruin the bodyglove, but that didn't work out too well. Any cases out there for the bigger back?

Something like this?
http://www.amazon.com/Green-Externa...347898124&sr=8-9&keywords=3000+mah+power+bank
Looks pretty good, only $17.25
Assuming you want to carry something extra around, I guess there are two possibilities:
Option 1 - carry spare battery (charged to something like 80%... avoid 100% to extend battery life)
Disadvantage: Have to open up phone (always possibility to contaminate) to replace battery, possibly daily if that's your pattern. Might confuse your battery monitoring widget program and possibly the built-in battery %-remaining feature.
Advantages: In the time it takes to swap battery and boot back up, you're done.
Option 2 - carry a power bank which can charge your battery in a few hours.
Disadvantage - takes a few hours plugged in to get back. Doesn't really have much way to know how much juice is left other than LED when fully charged
Advantage - don't have to open up phone or reboot.
Thanks for the info. Since I did spend some money (a whole $8 on my 3500 mAh), I will try to get use to it rather than switching. Hopefully, someone comes up with a case.
However, that is an excellent idea with the battery power back up for when we lose power (happens more than I would like). Keeping one of them around would have some advanatages.
Edit: cheap ebay 3500 mAh is now draining faster than my regular battery. Might not need to worry about the case...

Hows the battery doing 5 days later?
I experienced a drain on the 3500 and the 1750 stock battery for several days. I had to switch ROM builds but didn't put the other battery back until last night. Right now it is plugged in so I will report back in a day or two.
Edit. Using it two days now and it drains as fast as the 1750. Will give it one more day then back to OEM and Bodyglove case.

Battery lasted one day running really well and the next day (after recharge) drained twice as fast. Went back to standard battery and am using this as a back up now. Very disappointed in the quality.
I tried one of these when I had a captivate and had the same issue. First charge was great but it got to where it lasted the same as the original battery. You have to go Anker or Mugen for descent quality batteries.
I might check it out. Thanks.

I just got in my 3500mAh battery from the ebay seller known as battery gallery, and at 1213; I still have 80% of my battery left, and I unplugged it from the charger at 0800 I consider this pretty impressive, but it's only day 1 of using the battery.
I wish you better luck then I had. First day was good, second day okay, third day someone pulled the plug on the drain. Drop very fast. Of course I could have just gotten a bad battery.

Halo Pocket Power 2800 mAh power pack

My wife got one of these for everyone in the family for Valentine's day.
She didn't say where or how much but she's a QVC fan so I'm guessing she got it here:
http://www.qvc.com/HALO-2800mAh-Poc...Cellphones-&-Electronics.product.E223301.html
$30 each + S&H, but cheaper if you order several
More info here:
http://stores.halo2cloud.com/-strse-17/Halo-Pocket-Power-2800/Detail.bok
and here:
http://halo2cloud.com/resource/pdf/PocketPower2800UserGuide.pdf
The good things:
When you press a button, an LED lights Green for almost full, blue for half-full, red for almost empty
Delivers 1000 milliAmps while charging phone... should charge it 20-100% in about 1.5 hours.
The bad things:
The usb port on the powerpack is a female USB (just like on your pc).
So when charging your phone from the powerpack, you can use any old cord (which is fine) BUT....
.... when charging the powerpack (from your pc or your normal charger), you need a special female-to-female USB cord. The supplied multi-purpose cord fits the bill, but if you ever lose it, you'll have a hard time finding another. The typical USB cable has male on one end and female on the other. I guess I'll rubber band the cord together with the powerpack so I always have the cord handy when/where I need it.
I previously bought 3 Feipusi batteries for $5 each. That seemed like a good emergency/backup plan to me. A spare battery is actually much smaller and easier to carry around than this power pack plus the cord. I guess this is handier backup plan since you don't have to power down the phone and pull of the back. Also if you want to help out a a buddy with a different style phone, chances are your battery won't fit his phone but this powerpack will work.
I prefer to extend tu life of my phone . I got a 2100mah battery for 7$ on ebay to replace the stock 1750mah . It goes up to 3500mah but at the cost of increasing the phones back cover in size making all phone cases unable to fit. Also i use juice defender and Aeon custom rom makes my infuse around 30+ hours of battery time in normal use. Saves the trouble of switching battery for only a 7$ investement

$7???? went to ebay and they were all $34+ except for one from China that didn't say what it was. I have the OEM and a 3500mah but that extended back is a killer (slippier). Someone suggested a couple of coatings of liquid rubber for the back would work. Haven't gotten to that point and if I can find a battery at the right price like you did, I might never get to that option.
I just went on ebay . Do a research "infuse 2100mah" cheapest one was 7.35$ and its the same onr i got

It is a myth that you need to drain a new battery. Modern li-ion batteries do not need this and actually hurts battery life. Do a google search for "drain new battery myth" and you will see many articles on the subject.
After all the research I've done, it seems that any time you let your battery get below 65% or so, you are actually hurting battery life and will have to get a new one sooner than later.
Well this new battery and running Avatar 0n my phone it lasts me from sun up till after sun down every day with lots of use on my breaks at work and beyond. Totally love it. Way better than b4 when it lasted maybe 6 hours

This is what i got with the Battery. Its pretty good. It drops from 100 really fast. You hit 80 in no time. I'm not sure if the phone can read it or not. After that it holds for awhile. I usually charge my phone at work. Where I basically spend my day watching movies. I feel if you use it light to medium you can get easy over 10 hours battery. If heavy use then you get about 8. So all in all its a decent battery for the price
Sent from my SM-G900T
This is with heavy use. The other was light use with about 3 hours screen time
Sent from my SM-G900T
I use the anker 7500 mah extended battery. I can easily get 30+ hours now even with heavy use. Only downside is it's heavy as hell.. Lol
Will look into this if my battery drains quick. Cheers.

Zero lemon or hyperion. ZL has problems reading the correct battery % you have to battery pull. I have 2 of em. Others swear by the hyperion. I will be ordering one in a few days.

I want non extended battery without any case.
Just a plain battery with 3400-3800mah
To replace the stock one
Sent from my SM-N910F using XDA Free mobile app
I own both of these.
note+4+battery+hyperion in amazon search since I don't post here that often I just read and lurk.
And
1&keywords=note+4+caseology
Both have done extremely well however I favor the hyperion batteries better and closer to the oem. Battery life matches both well and very close to the normal life and usage patterns I would get with the Samsung battery. It's wonderful knowing that if I'm gone for more than 12 hours I just drop in another battery and keep right on working.
Hopefully this helps.
