[Q] Bluetooth Question - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have bought a cheap wireless keyboard and mouse which has one of those tiny usb bluetooth receivers. I have tested it on my pc on my galaxy note 2 and on my girlfriends nexus 7 and both the keyboard and mouse work great when i use an otg and plug in the tiny usb receiver.

My question is, is there anyway of using my keyboard and mouse without the tiny usb receiver. Ive tryed scanning for the keyboard and mouse with the inbuilt bluetooth but nothing is found. I thought someone might know of an app or another way of connecting wireless accesories through the inbuilt bluetooth without needing the otg and the micro receiver.
Cheers

To give a serious answer I need to know what type of mouse and keyboard you use. Problem is that often it is not bluetooth but some special "wireless" frequency used, especially when sold in combination with a dongle.
Said it is a bluetooth keyboard, you may pair it with the Note by pushing and holding the power-on-button of the keyboard until the LED indicates pairing mode (maybe it flashes or changes colour). Then let the Note search for bt-devices, and it should work. Maybe you are asked to enter a code, just tap it on the keyboard and hit the enter-key.
The mouse should work just the same, but without a code (or it is 0000 to be entered on the Note).
Try, and if I could help, don't forget the thnx-button.

You have to ensure that you really have a Bluetooth keyboard..if the keyboard is visible to your pc without the special adapter than it is OK.. but as long you need the adapter .. than it is not a pure Bluetooth device!
I'm using a cheap ($12) Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combination from amazon and it works fine without the use OTG but directly over BT

Thanks for your replies. I have my suspicion that they are not working on a standard bluetooth level as the keyboard and mouse seem to be completely invisable to any inbuilt bluetooth scanning and only work with the micro usb receiver plugged in. Its not a big problem as ill only use them when its docked.

30-Pin USB & SD kit for 10.1 inch works!

I have the USB & SD 30-pin adapter kit they sold for the 10.1 Tab- i tried a flash drive into the usb and accessed files on it, same with SD card.
When i tried a keyboard/mouse combo (actually the original combo that was sold for the Samsung Q1U UMPC) it errored w/ can't support hi-voltage device. Didn't try a powered hub w/ the keyboard (kind of scared of frying it).
Mouse and keyboard works. The output is capped somewhere under 100mA as it gives that error message on stuff the iPad can handle, and its adapter is 100mA. Don't be afraid of plugging stuff in though, it can't hurt the tab
You can't hurt a device with a powered hub. Hubs will only give as much power as the USB spec says they can which all USB devices must be designed to handle. That's why there is a spec.

USB kit not working?
Just picked one of these up from best buy in hopes it would work. When i plug it in i get nothing, no notification and no action. i tried a flash drive 2 mice and 2 keyboards. any ideas?
Reboooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot
(stupid character minimum )
Yep. Looks like everytime i plug in a "high voltage" device it completely shuts down. Have to reboot. I did get it working. Thank you.
Works with SD/Multi card reader
I am using an Aluratek multi card reader and it works like a champ. Can read SD, MicroSD, pro duo ect.
Root?
For those of you that this is working for, are you rooted or not? I can't seem to get the SD adapter to work, even after multiple reboots. USB adapter works fine.
Got these also. For USB drives it appears FAT32 drives are good but NTFS drives are non-functional. Have a Lexar 64GB flash drive which doesn't show but all others do.

Both works for me, both now that I'm rooted and before I was. The Tab doesn't know the difference between the USB and SD adapters, and this is an official samsung accessory, so it sounds like your adapter is broken.

Have been rooted from Day One.
So the original Samsung will work with my 7+ ?
Just for the fun of it, Bluetooth mouse, USB wireless keyboard (with USB adapter), and remote desktop software

MicroUSB?

Has anyone seen an adapter to MicroUSB? The "kit" Asus sells looks to be full size USB and daisy chaining adapters isn't a great solution.
i believe the kit that's sold connects to the charging port of the device and gives you a full sized usb port.i'll find out tomorrow
edit: kit does work, although when i bought it, there was not mention that it would work.. but it does.

What is it you are trying to do. The connector on the tab is proprietary and the other ends is USB to connect or power. Why do you want micro usb on the other end?
I guess something like Computer USB -> MicroUSB + Adapter for proprietary **** -> Pad would be what OP wants. Makes sense because everyone has a load of MicroUSB cables lying around. I'd want one.

OH you want to turn a standard micro usb cable into an asus cable. Don't think you can
Let us know what you find out - I was wondering the same thing so I can use my old PS2 IBM clicky keyboard with my flashy pad.. :highfive:
The USB kit from Asus offers the same functionality as the USB port on the dock. Why would you connect a micro USB (B) connector to a host (A) connector? The kit/dock is meant for keyboards, mice, card readers etc. Not for charging.

to plug in a keyboard...
Sorry, I didn't have access to a computer yesterday.
I have a few accessories that connect through microUSB (i.e. charger, external speakers, etc. ) that I'd like to connect up to it. All of them use a micro USB connection.
The kit looks like it has full size USB, so If I wanted to us my other stuff I would have to have: Accessory -> micro (f) to full (m) usb adapter -> Asus USB Kit -> Infinity.
That's the problem. I plan on getting the KB dock soon which will be great for the KB (thats the point right ) but when I'm not using the KB, I might want to use the other stuff.
Na na na...I mean a REAL keyboard

Any bluetooth mouse will work. Every single one I've tried so far has worked.

The problem is that all wireless mice I'm finding have a usb dongle (transceiver) and none of these work unless you block the bottom port with the dongle. I want a list of good mice; that leave the usb port free, for people to be able to Google for and purchase.
Umm.. as the previous poster said, BLUETOOTH mouse.
All phones have bluetooth built in so you dont need a dongle.
The ones that have dongles do NOT use bluetooth.
Here is a list courtesy of Best Buy
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchp...l&nrp=15&sp=&qp=&usc=All+Categories&gf=y&cp=1
But anyways, what do you need a mouse for on a phone?
Ok firstly, in UK so best buy not much use, secondly try searching Amazon uk for Bluetooth mouse and see how many have a nano receiver. Bluetooth mouse does not mean they necessarily connect to your Bluetooth, it can easily mean they connect by fixed paired, nano usb receiver
And to answer your question, to connect via mhl with keyboard and mouse and use it on my tv.

I've never seen a Bluetooth mouse bundled with a receiver that you couldn't also pair with other Bluetooth devices. Just because it comes with a receiver doesn't mean you have to use it.
MadBob,
Any bluetooth mouse will work with the GS4. Some may come with a separate receiver but this is simply for devices that don't already have bluetooth builtin. Any bluetooth mouse will work with the GS4 regardless if it is bundled with a receiver or not. As long as it is a bluetooth mouse, the bluetooth receiver is not needed to work with the GS4 (regardless if it was bundled with the bluetooth mouse or not).
This one works!
This Motorola Bluetooth Mouse works flawlessly with my Galaxy S3. Amazon link shown below ($19.99), however may be found on eBay for less ($9.99-$14.99+).
It pairs DIRECTLY with my device. It DOES NOT require a USB Dongle, it pairs similarly to pairing a Bluetooth headset.
I've had it for over a year now and have purchased Engergizer Lithium AAA Batteries... I've changed the batteries maybe one or twice now.
$20 + Free Shipping via Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-89519N-Bluetooth-Mouse/dp/B006428K7I/
EDIT:***Cheaper*** ($9.99 + Free Shipping) on eBay HERE: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Motorola-Wireless-Bluetooth-Mouse-For-Smart-Phones-Tablets-AND-Laptops-/251127182854

On a sidenote, I use the Perixx PeriBoard-804 Bluetooth QWERTY Keyboard, (http://www.amazon.com/Perixx-PERIBOARD-804-Wireless-Bluetooth-Keyboard/dp/B005MJ6F80/), and that charges via MicroUSB with great battery life.
This way I can use a Bluetooth Keyboard & Mouse without any OTG Dongle Attached, that way you can hook it up to an HDTV via MHL

[Q] Issues with USB wireless keyboard via OTG

I purchased a Rapoo E9070 wireless keyboard with high hopes that it would work great as a full size typing companion for my Tab S 8.4 LTE. At first it wouldn't work with just the OTG cable, but I finally got it to register key presses after installing External Keyboard Helper Pro. There's just one problem: it gets disconnected the moment I hit the CapsLock key or the Numpad Enter key. The second I hit one of those keys, i get a keyboard connected-keyboard disconnected infinite loop in my notification bar, until I pull out the OTG. Plugging it back i fixes everything, but it's really annoying, especially in the middle of a meeting where I use my unorthodox combo of tablet + full size wireless keyboard the most.
Anyone have similar experiences or know of a workaround for this?
TIA!
My Logitech wireless keyboard works fine with the unifying receiver plugged into an OTG cable even without any app. Have you tried setting up the wireless keyboard on a computer first?

Yes I'm typing with it right now. First time I plugged it in to my PC, it just downloaded a driver and is working perfectly with no need for any tweaking or other installs. I don't know much about how hardware communicates, but I'm thinking it might have something to do with Samsung devices not having a dedicated caps lock key on it's on-screen keyboards (you press the shift button twice to lock caps, and once more to release). Maybe the Tab S simply doesn't recognize the code the caps lock key throws at it, so it goes haywire and kicks the keyboard off or something.

There's no num pad, but there's a cap lock. I can bring the keyboard back home tonight test it. (I normally keep the keyboard in office)
edit: So I took the keyboard home but forgot to bring the receiver

I am going to bring the tablet into work tmr.
Alright I did the test. I used a Logitech K360 keyboard, and in contrary to my memory it DOES have a numpad. Both the cap lock and the num lock worked as they should. The Enter key also works.
You said that you had to download a driver in order to use your keyboard on the PC. Do you know if your keyboard can be used with the generic keyboard driver that comes with Windows?
i uninstalled the rapoo driver from my PC and it still seems to work fine. Anyway, I guess not all wireless keyboards are equal, so I'm just going to take this as a learning experience and test accessories thoroughly before buying. The rapoo will just be relegated as my desktop keyboard, and I'm now in search of a folding BT keyboard for the tab along the lines of this thing -> http://www.amazon.com/iLepo-Foldable-High-touch-Bluetooth-Microsoft/dp/B00S7W41P8/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1426581018&sr=1-3&keywords=flyshark

Question USB-C to HDMI doesn't work – blank screen….

Hello, why do 2 different USB-C-to-HDMI cables NOT deliver any signal to the beamer? I used 2 brandnew cables (from Anker resp. Warrky), but the screen remains blank, as if nothing had been connected. On the other hand, this Full-HD-Beamer easily shows signals from sat-receiver (HDMI to HDMI), DSLR (USB-A to HDMI) and laptop (display port to HDMI).
Connecting the Pixel 7 Pro via USB-C-to-HDMI directly to the beamer (not to a HDMI multi-plug), I see these messages on the Pixel 7 Pro, that don't seem as expected (re-translated to English by me):
- attached device charged via USB (while the cable description says, "no charging possible")
- device controlling the USB connection: Connected Device (meaning the beamer obviously)
There is no change possible, for instance it's not possible to set "This Device" (the Pixel 7 Pro) as controlling device. Also the use for the USB connection (like file transfer, USB tether etc.) can't be changed at all. It is all grayed out and fixed to "PTP" (picture transfer protocol), which seems not to make sense?
According to data sheets, the Pixel 7 Pro has USB-C 3.2 Gen. 2 – and according to the cables' descriptions, with this the signal should go from mobile to beamer.
Do you have any idea? Are there other devices, perhaps even wireless? Thanks!
PS. I mainly would view mobile photos and Youtube videos. Audio would be transferred on a separate Bluetooth connection.
The phone doesn't support it. You can only use a displaylink device and it's a ****ty experience.
The pixel 8 will include displayport and should support HDMI adapters.

You could use a Chromecast for that, and they are inexpensive. I think you would need to send audio from your projector (I think that's what you mean by "beamer") though.
I was disappointed a phone in this price point didn't include MHL.
I use an hdmi adapter bought from best buy called ( J Create Adapter). App on playstore.
Best $29 adapter with unnoticeable latency..

Hi all, thanks for clarifying info, photos + screens!
It's disappointing indeed that you can't use a simple USB-C to HDMI adapter.
I will look at Chromecast and at that Best Buy adapter, if i do get it in my territory.
Yes, with "beamer" i meant projector.
Anyone knows if there is a change that Google enable a kind of desktop mode on pixel 7 pro if the 8 does support it? From what I understood the hardware can support it but it misses something in USB driver am I right? Or I'm dreaming and will be forced to switch to the 8 to get the feature?
