[Q] HBO on rooted TF101, how? [Fixed] - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I finally got an activation code for HBO Nordic after a much too long wait only to find out it won't work on a rooted device.
I get "Service is not available on this device because it has been modified."
Is there any way to fool the app into thinking I'm stock and unrooted?
Thanks for any suggestions.

+1 all my androids are modified, i can only use hbo on windows!

Do you have any idea if it's possible to modify build.prop to make it work? I don't know what the app checks but it could be something like that.

Fix found in this post:

Confirmed working on TF101 with RaymanFX's CM10.

Netflix error - can't find solution

Hello all,
I've been getting this error every time i open the netflix app
(yes, even with the asus transformer patch for netflix)
"Error
Please make sure that your device has network connectivity and the Date and Time settings are accurate"
It used to work before when I had Prime 1.6 but I updated to Revolver 1.1 then to Prime 1.7, I didnt use netflix on the revolver rom, but when i tried in the prime 1.7, it didnt work
I've searched EVERYWHERE on the internet and I haven't found one solution, at all.
So please if anyone knows a solution please tell me im dying here.
I've got a stock TF and I can't get Netflix to even download. I'm at 3.2 now and I'm still stuck without Netflix.
Suggestions?
do you have root?
@sytech55, you cant download Netflix off the market cus it's not supported yet, you can download it in the forums though, and you will need to be rooted for it to work.
@mikebz5, i dont know if ur asking me but yes i am rooted.

Don't have root. Stock only. With 3.2 loaded, I was thinking I could get netflix to work by default.
...stupid idea.
I went from Prime 1.6 to Prime 1.7 and still have Netflix.
Since Prime 1.7 have the patch built in there was no need to reflash the patch.
Maybe try flashing 1.7 again

[Q] [TF101] Is there a way to get back to US stock?

HI - looked in the forums but have not seen anything obvious.
I am on Revolution HD but looking for a way to get back to stock - which in Canada is the US firmware (not the WW). I currently have the WW firmware with some build.prop hacks to make it thinks its US (not perfect but more apps are available in the app store).
Apologies if this is buried in the forms, but if someone could point me in the direction of re-loading the US based firmware in a how-to it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You can look in to here or here (if you can use nvflash)
No unfortunately - don't have the right SBK version

You might see if recover installer has a "stock" option. Or now that CWM recognizes the TF see if it will allow you to reflash to stock.

Yes. Use the first one gls9 mentioned. I used that method a few weeks ago and it worked flawlessly, I'm stock and rooted with OTA rootkeeper.
Sweet Shady - so you followed that and are back to the US firmware (not WW - I thought Canada was on WW but went into Staples on the weekend and checked out one of the display TFs LOL .)
Shady - so did you download the US. 21 from the ASUS site when you were doing This?

I think you can flash all the parts through the staging partition. You'll have to get a US stock rom, pull it apart and repack the parts that you need to replace- probably the EBT/bootlaoder, SOS/recovery, and LNX/boot.img.
Google and search... it's out there.

Use this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154947 I got everything from there.
Also use this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427838 to root the stock ROM then go to the market and download OTA rootkeeper (it's free!) to make a backup of your root. You can then upgrade to ICS, if it ever comes, without a problem.

Awesome - thanks. I noticed in that first thread there's a link at the end to a different re-packed file - so may use that.
What ROM were you coming from Shady?
Be nice to get back to stock - a little uneasy with the TF101 though myself - don't know it was as my T959D phone )

I was coming from KRAKD. Pretty good ROM I must say. I recently flashed CWM again to install a custom Kernel and now my Transformer flies (with the addition of ADW Launcher Pro)
using the Samsung SAMSUNG Kies I was able to go from ICS back to the OEM ROM. This software detected that I had a different version, and asked if I wanted to install the latest Samsung version. So of course I did. I tried again later after testing another ICS and I tried to do the same, and it did not give me that option. I think I could still of did it suing the emergency recover option in Kies, but you have to get a number from Tech support first I think.
Don't think that will work for an Asus product

[Q] Worth Rooting

Hello I have the tf300t and was wondering is it worth rooting just to get rid of the software I dont want which is quite extensive.
I have already did a ota update to jelly bean 4.1.1, version 10.4.2.18. And if the answer is yes which guide do you suggest.
thanks. thinking of using this guide. dottech.org/88787/how-to-root-asus-transformer-pad-tf300t-and-install-clockworkmod-recovery-guide/

You could disable unwanted apps in Settings-> Apps-> All apps.
Just be careful you don't disable anything important.

I agree with just disabling unwanted apps.
I have owned my tf300t for 8 months and have not yet unlocked or rooted it. I have been tempted, but really have not seen a reason to bother. Asus included an app backup utility for apk and data which is my typical root reason.
I have been very happy with the tablet in stock form, none of the custom roms have really grabbed my attention, although IF I do unlock I will install CyanogenMod.
I have already done that so I was wondering if rooting would be better.

Why wouldn't anybody root?
You could disable ads in apps, you could control which app does what (LBE Privacy Guard for example - not recommended on JellyBean though) you can not just only backup your apps but make a flashable zip out of your backed up apps, you can disable certain apps to run while the device is booting and even more.
And it's not really difficult to root this device (I don't own this device yet, but from what I read here it doesn't seem to be complicated at all - if you're willing to pay attention and think while doing it - you'd be wondered how many people act without thinking )
I was reading the statement on the program that unlocks the tf300t and read a part I had a question about. It said if used it might effect software that I bought has any one had this happen?

[Q] Whatsapp

Hi,
Does anyone know a way to get Whatsapp working on a wifi-only tablet such as the TF300. Methods I found on the internet didn't work, do I need to get an ancient version of the apk or what else?
Thanks!
If you're rooted, you could use titanium backup. I'm not sure how to do it anymore on unrooted tablets

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

[Q] Xoom 2 Media Editon (MZ608) - I'm lost

Hello,
I'm new here and yes, I'm a noob.
I recently got myself a Xoom 2 Media Editon (MZ608) as my first tablet. I'm not the kind of person who always needs the latest hard- and software and basicly I'm ok with the installed Android 4.0.4. Unfortunately one of the apps I'd like to use refuses to install on an "old" Android version. And another app, which was already pre-installed, refuses to update for the same reason.
As I said I'm a noob and I never modded a tablet. I searched the web for two hours but now I'm lost. There is so much information and even the guides I found seem to start in the middle. The main problem however is that I found many links and files for Android 3.2.2 and 4.0.4 but nothing helpful for anything more up-to-date.
I really just need anything newer than 4.0.4. It doesn't matter if it's 4.1.x or 4.2.x. Where do I have to go and what do I need to do? Thanks in advance for any help!
I don't believe there is anything more up to date for the media edition Xoom, also no custom recovery is possible so zero custom ROMs.

Thanks for your answer. That's sad news.
Is there at least any way to get an older version of an app from Google Play or to force installation of the new version? And can I get rid of the second app I mentioned? It fails to update and I don't want it anyway.

Actually there is a recovery available for the Xoom 2.

Maybe you could tell us which app it is so we can find another way.
