[Q] Upgrade Issue - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I have a problem i upgrade my phone from froyo 2.2.1 to latest ver 2.3.6
it's from www
sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-I9003&pcode=EGY&os=1&type=1#firmware
by Kies , the problem is that the phone resat factory settings and start as new what should i do ?????????

you can just flash the rom through odin.

Google Odin 1.85 and look for the flashing guides in XDA.

Flash XXKPE+Pit first then flash firmware what you want

Read this recent thread with a similar issue. I posted detailed steps to go to 2.3.6 out there somewhere. See if that helps.

HELP! Odin failed during upgrade to ZHKPD

Hi,
I have a i9003 that ran on stock 2.2.1 ROM and I've been having serious SOD problems.
Updated to 2.3.5 ZHKPD last night using KIES. The update was successful but gave me screen blackouts during calls (screen and buttons turned all black whenever I start a call. I heard voice but was never able to turn on the screen again) in addition to SOD problems.
I have then downloaded Odin 1.83, and "I9003ZHKPD_I9003ZZHKP9_I9003XXKPM_HOME.tar" from here and tried to flash my phone again after reading a lot of guides on this forum.
I got a "Can't open the specified file" error from Odin (see attachment). Now when I turn on my phone all I see is a picture with a phone and a computer.
Was the re-partition cause of the problem?
Can someone here please let me know what I can do? To get 2.3.5 back into my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Did u flash XXKPE beefore flashing ???
If you have then try downloading the firmware from another source
I haven't - the "I9003ZHKPD_I9003ZZHKP9_I9003XXKPM_HOME.tar" file is the only one I tried to flash.
It's phone from Hong Kong and I do want to keep something from the stock firmware, such as the Chinese input.
What do you suggest I should do next?
flash it again from xxkpe with the step "re-partition"
Thanks. Did you mean I should first flash it with the "I9003XXKPE" file here?
Will I need the PIT file, and after XXKPE I'll have to flash ZHKPD right?
Well, the only question is: Can you come into download mode?
If you can, just flash KPE>KPD and everything solved.
If you can't get a jig or go to service center.
Thanks. Did you mean I should first flash it with the "I9003XXKPE" file here?

[Q] Need help going back to stock

Hi all.. I helped out a friend to root and install MIUI on his i9003, i myself use a captivate.
These were the steps taken: odin to xxkpe, then odin to xxkp7 then cwm flash to MIUI.
He would like to go back to stock as MIUI is not bug-free and its affecting him. Anyways, i was searching the forum and found a few threads regarding this but I am still confused.
Going back to stock from MIUI/cm7/cm9 from my captivate is just to run odin-1-click and everything is done. Here im using odin v1.85 and wish to go back to I9003DXKP9, as this is the official firmware here.
So in order to go back to stock, i just flash the I9003DXKP9 using odin? Another concern is the I9003DXKP9 firmware has just 1 file :
Code:
I9003DXKP9_I9003OLBKP7_I9003DXKP7_HOME.tar.md5
and when i flashed XXKPE it had 5 files:
Code:
APBOOT_I9003XXKPE_CL409735_REV08_user_low_ship.tar
CODE_I9003XXKPE_CL409735_REV08_user_low_ship.tar
GT-I9003-CSC-MULTI-OXAKPE.tar
latona_20110114.pit
MODEM_I9003XXKPE_REV_00_CL1041909.tar
I also read that if the firmware has only 1 file, just flash the pda and nothing else. So is it safe to assume that the process of going back to stock is just flashing the single firmware for DXKP9 or should i go back to XXKPE and then to DXKP9?? Any help would be greatly appreciated..
its better you first flash xxkpe then one file firmware, if u r reverting back from cm7/ miui/ cm9..
since sometimes phone gets into bootloop when just one file firmware is used to revert back to stock rom...
one file firmware is mainly used to upgrade from another stock firmware...
Hope i helped you..

check whether u r installing the right version of cf root...
install exactly the same version as ur fw has...
or go for universal cf root... its way more convenient...
note: i hope u meant xxkpe instead of xxkp3 ....

[Q] CSC is unknown after ROM installation

Hi Friends,
I don't know that i should open a new thread for it. But I have searched in XDA forums no one is ask about this CSC.
Now coming to the problem, I have taken the backup(contact, message) from Kies and rooted and installed the custom rom(Frankenstine and after ZSLE5 for NEO). After installing the custom rom I am unable to connect my phone using Kies, it shows, no sim card.
I have re-flashed it with Stock rom and able to connect it. Hope this issue is because of the CSC(which becomes unknown) after installation of custom Rom.
Anyone else faced this problem?
Thanks,
Karthik

Hey bro, if you flash a custom rom.. You will not be able to use kies.. So i advice you to use a different app to backup your contacts etc and restore after flashing the custom rom..
Kies only works on stock roms..

Firmware is an total package that contains all elements.......including bootloader. ...
Flash it via pc Odin pc Odin. ......
Before flashing whole firmware it is recommended to flash stock recovery and kernel via mobile Odin. ....
I have provided baseband and recover separately. ....
Because some people may need only baseband and they don't want to flash everything. .....

So if I download the Firmware then I will get stock recovery and Kernel as well...Am I right?
Can you please tell me file names for those?
So after flashing Stock Recovery & Kernel...I have to flash the firmware which will again flash Stock Recovery & Kernel..
Edit: I have flashed stock firmware.

[Q] Downgrade from 4.2.2

If got the update and 4.2.2 is terrible. So I would like to know how to downgrade back to 4.1.1. There probably is a way to do it through Odin (which would be preferred) and if there is, can you give me the links to the downloads.

Did you try a wipe data/cache in recovery mode? This should help a lot, after I did the new 4.2.2 is not so bad, is at least "good" ad the 4.1.2.

No root before flashing. But if you flash the stock rom via Odin, you will need to root it again.
If you can find a flashable zip, then yes, you can use a recovery.
But OP simply wants to return to stock 4.1.1. You can get back to complete stock setup with the Odin process.
Search online for exact procedures.
