[Q] [YP-G70] PIT file question - hard brick - General Questions and Answers

I was messing with Terminal, trying to install Recovery through it, but i was using LG Thrill 4G commands, as i didnt pay attention in which board the thread is. What a dumbass i am.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1363132
Thats the thread i followed.
Now, i can get it in Download mode with the unbrickable resurrector, but the download mode image is tilted a bit towards the right side of the screen, and when i try any button combos while in download mode, it shuts it self off.
And i can only enter download mode with the resurrector, not possible through button combo.
I get recognized in Odin, but when i try to flash the Bootloader and the PIT file (i think its bad) supplied in your thread, i get:
There is no PIT partition log, and when i try to flash the stock rom without those 2 files, im stuck at Setup connection.
Do i need a special PIT file? I have the 16GB INTERNATIONAL version.
Do i need to tick "Re-partition" in odin?
Or should i send it to the repair shop, and pay 35$ for the repair, since i think they will say that this doesnt cover the warranty (I have the STOCK rom, but its rooted. Can they find out?)
IF POSSIBLE, can someone PROVIDE ME with a PIT. for Galaxy Player 5.0 INTERNATIONAL? (16GB)

you need pit pda and bootloader for your device ad check re partition in odin

Can you get the phone into download mode at all? If so, fire up ODIN, use the same files you have above like this:
Put Hawk_Sidekick_VibrantPlus_831.pit in PIT
Put CODE_T959VUVKG4_CL385158_REV00_user_low_noship.tar.md5 in PDA
Put SGH-T959V-CSC-TMB-VIBRANTP.tar.md5 in CSC
Put T959VUVKG4-Phone-CL1037720.tar.md5 in PHONE
Let ODIN decide what check boxes need to be checked and reflash.
well, i couldn't at first. the screen was totally dark and will not boot. luckily a jig worked fine and put me in download mode. i just did the PDA file without the other and the phone seems to work. i wanted to go to another rom in oredr for kies to install me the stock 2.3.6 firmware.
i did install it with kies first last night, but it was failing to find any wifi networks at home for some unknown reason. i wanted to try to do it at work, but i need a rom that will let kies upgrade the firm. do you know which one is good. i was reading that putting KD1 so i downloaded PDA_KD1.tar.md5 but it seems that odin does not want to install it. any ideas?

Glad you got it working. Bear in mind that sometimes that the screen is black it will still be recognized by ODIN. Scary when it does that, though
I flashed back to KD1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063696) in order to update to the official 2.3.6 with Kies.
If you don't want to go the Kies route, you can use ODIN thanks to RaverX3X (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353176 or (also thanks to Raver) CWM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351783).
The easiest thing would be to Odin ravers file in pda only.
Then you can Odin A kernel if you need one right away or wait for the next one and use stock.

[Q] whats odin mode?

i got tired of trying to figure out how to use adb as far as i got to was the command thing and got into android sdk tools but since my device is bootlooped i cant use debug mode there for it couldnt read my device so i did some research on my samsung admire and saw the odin mode flashing ur firmware so i thought oh cool well im in odin mode what is it downloading lol
Basically odin mode is when your phone is recognized by odin. When you have odin installed, your phone will be recognized by Odin when there is a yellow box with COM## (numbers dont matter), assuming you have all the proper drivers installed.
couldnt i download odin on my computer and put it on my sdcard using a cardreader then put the sd card back in my phone then go to system recovery and install iit from sdcard and it will fix my bootloop?
I doubt it, plus why would you want to anyways? Just seems like a whole bunch of extra, if not unnecessary steps. Easiest way to get into odin mode would be to have the proper drivers installed, put your phone into download mode, let Odin recognize your phone by showing a yellow box with a COM followed by any number, the you flashing whatever you need.
but im bootlooped i have to get stuff from my laptop and use a cardreader to put on my sdcard then install from sdcard in recovery
Odin is for windows
Odin doesn't go on the phone it's for your computer.
QUOTE:
You first and foremost need to download ODIN zip file from the XDA developer forum. You will be provided with the link. You can then extract the ODIN folder into your computer.
You can now use the data cable to connect your Samsung phone to your computer.
Put your Smartphone off and remove the battery.
Then you can turn the phone on whilst you hold down you Home, Power and the Decrease volume keys to go into the download mode.
You can now launch the ODIN on your computer. Then click Auto reboot. All together, you can click PIT and select the PIT file that is associated with the Android ROM that you are flashing using the ODIN android. You can now click PDA and make sure that you select the TAR file for the ROM.
Last but not least, you can click start to add the ROM to you Smartphone. Note that, the installation will be complete when the phone reboots automatically. You can then unplug the phone and enjoy the new changes.
this will work for my samsung admire and remove the bootloop?
it costs to download odin?

Put GT-P5100 in the search box and choose the Rom that you want from the list. You'll need to register to get the link.

You need to quote me in your reply or I don't get a notification.
There's nothing to stop you rooting it again and extracting the data from your nandroid backup once you've installed the Rom

You can't really restore them, because they're on a different ROM, it'd overwrite all your fresh and fast ROM.
In two words: you can't.
You will need a country specific firmware, where did you buy your P5100; was it from.. anywhere in the world? Check for a sim card slot.
If it doesn't, get on to reading!
1. Find how much bits your windows is.... this can be done by opening the start orb in the bottom left corner, then right-click on computer. Click Properties, and look for 64 or 32.
Pick 64 if you have 64, or pick 32 if you have 32.
2. Install drivers according to your bits.
These will ensure good experience.
- 64bit: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x64.shtml
- 32bit: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOB...dows-x86.shtml
3. Download UK recovery! That is, if you don't have a SIM card slot.
Find here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=22456
Now, I was quite lazy to write a tutorial, so I did copy some sources. they will all be given credit.
1. Download and Install the Samsung USB drivers to your PC from the link above. Reboot your system once after installation. If you have already have KIES installed you can skip this step
Extract the Odin Package you downloaded earlier to your desktop. Look for the Odin exe file. That's the only one we would be using
Extract the downloaded stock firmware zip file to your desktop
On your Tab, go to Settings > Developer Options and Enable USB Debugging
Now Power off your Tab completely. We will now be putting your device into Download mode or Odin Mode as it is also called. Download mode is basically a Samsung Exclusive mode which allows flashing of firmware via Odin. Odin can only communicate with Samsung devices when they are in Download Mode. To get there, press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Power. Then press Volume Up to enter download mode
On your PC, launch Odin by double clicking the exe file in the Odin folder. Just make sure that Samsung KIES is not running on your PC at this time. KIES and Odin don't like each other very much.
Connect your Tab 2 to PC using the OEM USB cable. Any microUSB cable should work, but I prefer to use the one supplied with the phone to avoid any unforeseen complications. You should see the message Added!! in the main Odin message box like in the screenshot below, as well as as COM Port number in the first slot directly above the message box, which tells you that Odin has recognized your device
odin_zpsc9caf496.jpg
In Odin, click the PDA button, locate the stock firmware .tar file that you extracted in Step 3. If there are additional file for the modem and CSC, add those as well. Make sure the Auto Reboot and the Reset Time boxes are checked and Re-partition box is NOT checked.
Double check everything in Step 8, then hit the Start button to restore your Tab 2 to stock Samsung firmware
Once Odin has finished flashing the CWM recovery, your Tab should automatically reboot. And if the flashing was successful, you should see the word PASS! against a green background at the top-left in the Odin window. This means it is now safe to disconnect your device. Flash Write Fail - what next?

I inherited a bricked AT&T Skyrocket and was very happy when I managed to get it into download mode by accident. But it didn't last long. Both Kies (2.6) and Odin (1.85) recognize the phone but fail to write to it. BTW, I used k0nane's thread file for the Odin flash. CWM failed to flash as well. Also, I tried different cables and different USB ports.
I have no idea how the original brick happened and I cannot do a hard reset. Besides the download mode, all I get is the Samsung logo or the battery charging.
I read somewhere that the next step should be a .pit file and a Nand re-partition but I can't find that thread again.
PS. Never mind the celox.pit approach. While I was able to Odin it, the ROM write failed after it.
Anybody got a link or some suggestion on what I can try next?

Try doing the carrier switch method first then downloading and installing the unlocked firmware afterwards via odin. Make sure you download the 955U1 Odin firmware and NOT the 950U. Also can you upload a screenshot of what it shows in download mode

You have the Korean model not sure why it has a 950 on the back. But you need to use the 955F firmware. Flash that thru odin

Are you using the new Odin 3.13.1, if you are or not try removing the Samsung USB drivers and then restarting the computer. Then re-download the USB drivers and firmware.

I had the same issues flashing my 8+ . . . pit issues.
I found that a different USB cable worked, and also:
Go to download mode, start odin, load TWRP or other file, press start and then press pwn dwn, bixby and power, Odin will fail, but........
because you you went back into download mode, Odin will succeed next time you flash.
For some reason if I just acknowledged that Odin was going to fail on the first attempt, I kept the phone connected and did the routine, and on the second flash attempt, no more Pit file errors for me.
