Hey, guys!
First post from me in this forum, although I have been searching for some things for some times.
So, the problem is that I had Cyanogenmod 7.2 on my LG P500 for couple months. And ROM was working ok, but there was some problems and I thought I should get back to stock ROM, because actually it was working better and smoother. So, I searched for stock roms for my phone, found one and started to flash. Everything flashed well, phone booted up and then wave of errors started to come. So I thought that it ain't gonna be usable and tried to install a stock rom through official LG Updater, which obviously wasn't a good thing to do. everything, downloaded, installed, phone booted up and I was waiting with hope that it will boot up (android loading screen at least was showing), but it didn't happen. After that I managed to power phone off with getting battery out and then I tried to fix everything with one tutorial I saw in this forum with kdz updater. but at the begging it couldn't connect with my phone and after that screen showd Emergency Mode. nothing I could do, again took out battery to power it off and now phones doesn't show any signs of life.
What does it mean (maybe my phones is same as brick) and what should I do?
I would appreciate your help.

Plug in the wall charger for about an hour, and then try the buttons - press power button+ volume up button + back button together
keep pressed all three for long duration (maybe 8-10 secs you see yellow screen with written Emergency Mode). Then you are in Emergency Mode.
If no screen yet, then bricked - only LG repair center option.

Hey all
Before anyone mentions that i should be searching around more, i would like to say that i've been on multiple threads and they all state the same thing (use NVflash to flash CWM and then boot into CWM but the solution did not work for me past flashing CWM and then trying to access recovery after) and i wasn't able to find one that had a similar problem as mine.
I have CWM flashed through NVflash and was running CM7.1 RC1. I took a screenshot with the 'shootme' app and proceeded to look at the gallery to make sure it came out okay. The gallery crashed and i was sent to the home screen. I swiped to a different homescreen when my phone froze halfway through the transition to the next screen. No combination of buttons/long presses were able to get me out of it so i went ahead and did a battery pull. So my dilemma is that now i'm stuck at the LG boot logo with no blue status bar under it. It freezes there and will not do anything every time i boot up. volume down+power does not give me access to recovery nor does any other button combo get me past the LG boot logo.
Are there any other methods i might be able to use like ADB or what not to get myself out of this situation? or at least into recovery? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i've been searching for hours with little help and my eyes are starting to get strained.
hmmm.. I know it's a simple question, but I gotta ask.. are you holding the pwr and volume down button long enough? you have to keep holding it even after you see the LG screen.. Keep holding until you see the 2nd screen?
If so.. do the nvflash again? Edit: Not sure if I would do this without getting further guidance tho..

This. I remember when I boot looped my phone I had the problem of letting go of the volume key too early, you need to hold down volume and power from a totally powered off phone until recovery actually starts and you see the green "android" logo of CWM.
Try re-flashing CWM, NVFlash CAN fail. There is literally nothing you can do within the OS that will prevent recovery from working. Either you did something wrong somewhere along the recovery process or you discovered an entirely new problem with the phone. I'm going to hazard a guess and say it's the former.
Thanks for the response guys. I wish that it was the case of not holding the buttons long enough. I have tried numerous times with the buttons held down for a long period of time. I even held the combo down for almost 5 minutes a few times.
Every time i try to boot up, it won't go past the LG boot screen so i would pull the battery out and go through flashing CWM through NVflash again. I'm sure I'm not missing anything because everything goes through and gets sent to the phone successfully.
I did happen to run into a thread that was closely similar to mine but his method was to just keep reflashing CWM and the stock recovery back and forth every time it failed until it turned on. I might have to try that if i cannot figure out this problem out soon. Not being able to use this phone is killing me! heh.
I just joined your club. Wow this sucks.
So apparently this is a whole new problem that's been found? Every other help thread seems to point to using NVflash or remaking the partitions due to a bad flash using an O2x based file instead of G2x.
But none of those solutions come close to doing anything. There has been some people with the same problem as me but aren't proactive at all enough to get someone's attention, so i'm guessing this problem is getting pushed to the side with people just going about getting their phones replaces/buying new ones.
I did happen to run into a thread on paulobrien/modaco's forum that had people using NVflash to get out of any sticky situation like this. It just reverts everything back to the stock factory settings but with root. We cannot use this though because he hasn't built it to be compatible with our LGP999's because everything was built for their UK LGP990's. Maybe that's a start to getting this solution fixed?
I hate to say this, bit you might have to call t mobile and get a replacement. Flash back to stock recovery and they won't know you messed with anything.

Don't send back....you'll get same defacement a battery pull go into nvflah and go back stock then flash nv flash fix pArtitions
As I have mentioned before, NVflash does NOT give me access to my recovery let alone solve anything else. NVflash DOES work and does sucessfully send both CWM and the stock recovery but when I try to boot into either of them, let alone just power on normally, it simply DOES NOT go past the LG boot screen. it just hangs there doing nothing at all until I pull the battery out and do the same process over until it just hangs again.
while it is on/stuck at the LG screen, my computer does not recognize it so i cannot even try and run ADB commands. It does however, recognize it when I plug it in using the volume buttons held down when I use NVflash but there's nothing else I can do besides use NVflash obviously.

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? Because my phone is doing this...
I attempted to restore my phone back to the wrong backup that was from a galaxy sII (2.3.4 i think); needless to say, the restore failed. I then restarted my phone from CWM and it gets stuck at LG screen.
I have tried to NVflash back to stock; nothing. same thing reflashing back to CWM.
ideas?

From what I heard is that you need to remove the battery, then boot into recovery or something.

Use smartflash for the p990 but only use the p999 ap.bin file which will put the rom and kernel back to stock p999.
Rom for recovery always fixes any soft brick back to stock 2.3.3 OTA. It's saved my phone multiple times from stuck on S/W screen to being stuck on lg logo or even the dreaded can't mount sdcard-cache errors in cwm.

It's really not that big a deal. I was brand new to android once and asked all sorts of things.
I, like you, happen to read everything I can get my hands on. Some struggle going through all the info. I was here the day the forum opened, so I kind of remember where everything is.

Hey ppl. I have a really BIG problem with my G2x and I was wondering if you could help me out. I ran the LG Mobile Support Tool to update my G2x to 2.3.3. After the process, my phone is stuck on "S/W Upgrade Please wait while upgrading..."
I tried using to LG Support Tool and it's saying that I'm running V21e
I can't boot into recovery. All I get is "S/W Upgrade Please wait while upgrading..."
Before doing this I had done a backup through the recovery. How do I get it to bootup?
Any advice and assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem! Stuck on "S/W Upgrade Please wait while updating..."
So pulling the battery out, unplugging the USB and pressing vol-down + power doesn't boot to recovery? Did it freeze at 4% or get all the way through and now you're having this problem?
I'd suggest shutting the phone completely off and trying to root it again using NVFlash: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054492&highlight=nvflash
I think that's the only real option if you can't get into recovery. I'm not guaranteeing it will work, but it's worth a shot.
If you can get it rooted again and get back to CWM, flash 2.3.3 using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748 instead of LG's awful garbage updater.

It went all the way through.
I did the battery pull and pressed Power + Vol-Down and it didn't boot into recovery.
Same issue.
I've been working on this since about 1:00 PST.
I've tried 32 bit laptop. 64 bit desktop.
When I had initially got it going after about an hour, it basically had gotten to the "download" tab and constantly got stuck a 4%.
I have never had root on the phone, no custom roms or anything. Just a $543 brick.
Called LG was told to "Pull the battery and put it back in". Seriously? You guys had me on hold for 5 minutes and wasted 15 minutes of my time to tell me that?
Then I was told by the same guy if that doesn't work there are no other current workarounds other than sending the phone back to them.
No thanks.
Then I was live chatting with an LG guy named Jorge at the same time. He told me we needed to hard reset. Told him can't do that because the "S/W Upgrading" screen will just flash back after a power plus volume up hold. He said he believes we're having issues because it is so new, they seemed to have been blind sided by this. He said that they think that everyone was trying to update at the same time, possibly suggesting server overload.
Anyway, I've tried multiple computers, multiple USB ports on each. Multiple USB cables, and I even tried using a KDZ file that apparently housed the entire update. But for the life of me, I have no clue how to flash a .kdz file.
Any suggestions are MORE than welcome!
Thanks guys, and good luck.

if you're unsure of the APX drivers set-up you have a more basic guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

I don't think you're booting the phone up into cwm the right way.
Lol do this:
Make sure phone is off. While the phone is off hold down the volume down button.
While still holding volume down, hold the power button.
Continue to hold BOTH the volume down and power buttons. When the SECOND LG logo appears, let go of both of the buttons.
And no offense, but if you're not comfortable with modding your phone... you really shouldn't do it or ask someone else who knows what they're doing to do it.

That script is perfectly fine and didn't hurt your phone at all. It states that it will wipe everything out even the rom you were previously on. So when the phone rebooted it stayed on that LG logo because it didn't have a rom to bootup.
At that point a quick battery pull and reboot into recovery was all you needed to do.

Ok, so then its safe to assume that you rooted your phone first? Then you set up your phone by using nvflash so you can use ClockWorkMod (CWM)? Then booted your phone into recovery and tried to install ICS? If not done in this order then thats your fault. If you did it in this order then you missed something.
A common mistake is trying to install a ROM via CWM while the phone is running. When you do this the phone restarts and gives you the error triangle with android underneath it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985 Tells you how to do as well as provides links to everything it doesn't.

But the key issue was that CWM recovery was destroyed as well after nullifing thus leaving me in a stand still to do something. nvflash was the only thing left to recover the phone at that point which worked very well.
There is pretty much no way that after running either the One-Click or Cleanup Batch that he can't get the phone into CWM unless there is a hardware problem. This most likely means that the problem isn't with the scripts or phone, but with the procedure he is attempting.
Even if nullifier (which I don't think is of much use here) had wiped all partitions, the NVFlash will still pop you out of it and leave you with a working CWM.
So keep reading and keep watching videos of how to do it and make sure your drivers are correct. READ a bunch first.
And remember that he got here due to an LG software problem or issue with operation, not from trying to flash as a noob, so he knows he's in over his head right now.
Remember, we all had to start swimming somewhere and it usually wasn't pretty at first. Mine was a corrupted Motorola RAZR.
It appears that this is an older post, but if you are still having this issue, then maybe I can help. If anyone else finds this later, hopefully it helps them as well. I just did something similar and I thought I was screwed. I rooted my phone, installed a ROM (Hellfire... nice ROM BTW), then I got the nullifier. I installed the ROM before I ran the nullifier because I wanted to make sure the ROM worked. However, after running the nullifier, the ROM didn't work.
The only thing that I could get to show was the LG logo at the startup... no second logo (Blue LG), no SW upgrade... NOTHING. The phone wouldn't do anything else. Luckily, I wasn't the first to have this issue and they found the solution...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
Since you have already done other steps, I am assuming that you already have the drivers installed. So, the only thing you should need to do is download the ROM then install it by clicking flash.bat. The instructions on the page are pretty easy to follow.
No need to deal with the NvFlash until AFTER you do the above procedure. You will need to run it again after the above procedure because it puts it back in the original state (pretty much). The NvFlash will give you the superuser and Clockmod back. You should be good to go after that.

Hello to everyone and respect to all you developers for your hard work!
as you can see i'm noob but i'll try not to be too noobish.
here's the situation.. now, i have hephappy's CM9 bluepill rom installed in my lg p500 and it works just perfect (i mean it,just perfect),
and before that i have flashed custom rom's couple of times with success but once when i tried to boot into emergency mode (vol down+back+power) after that i couldn't get rid of that yellow message every time i restarted or turn on my phone till today.
so, now i'm living with that issue, but it bothers me,i can't understand why yellow emergency screen is showing EVERY time i reboot my mobile.
then i find out that the only way to avoid that is pulling battery out and wait for at least 5 minutes and then switch on (then it's ok - LG logo and blah blah).
but when i try to turn it on for less than 5 mins, emergeny mode will be showing everytime i switched mobile on.
so, i don't have a clue or answer what it could be. i tried to flash stock firmware through KDZ and actually everything seems ok and everything works just fine but that yellow screen still spy on me.
as i said, everything works perfect but when battery is drained or i wanna reboot my mobile i have emergency mode shown,so i must repeat above procedure with pulling out battery for 5 mins everytime.
i hope i didn't complicate this
Try to change RADIO (BASEBAND),maybe it might help you!

Hello to everyone and respect to all you developers for your hard work!
as you can see i'm noob but i'll try not to be too noobish.
here's the situation.. now, i have hephappy's CM9 bluepill rom installed in my lg p500 and it works just perfect (i mean it,just perfect),
and before that i have flashed custom rom's couple of times with success but once when i tried to boot into emergency mode (vol down+back+power) after that i couldn't get rid of that yellow message every time i restarted or turn on my phone till today.
so, now i'm living with that issue, but it bothers me,i can't understand why yellow emergency screen is showing EVERY time i reboot my mobile.
then i find out that the only way to avoid that is pulling battery out and wait for at least 5 minutes and then switch on (then it's ok - LG logo and blah blah).
but when i try to turn it on for less than 5 mins, emergeny mode will be showing everytime i switched mobile on.

yes pal. everything i can remember including booting into recovery with clockworkmod, wiping all data, cache, update with kdz, then root, flash new rom...and everytime everything goes like a glowe, everything is stable, with no errors.
i suppose i'm one of the luckiest lg p500 users when it's about good, stable device, which could be overclocked or tweaked without kernel panic, errors, etc (i heard that differences between same devices can vary).
BUT after all that i have that same issue with yellow emergency mode.
finally, i suppose that yellow screen is the price i must pay at the cost of good stability and great performance
did you try flashing gb stock rom by lgmdp?

If you can get into yellow screen your ok
Last resort use kdz just don't take out battery or disconnect and you should be fine

@dhruv:
I heard about lgmdp, but i didn't found myself interested enough to try it
Because i actualy didn't had any issues excep that yellow screen.so you think it could be helpful?
@darkknight:
It is the only way i can avoid yellow screen by pulling out battery for 5 mins.
I know that my prob is unusal but now i have a lot of apps installed linked with link2sd,so i should find some way to safely backup all that stuff and try to do smtg.

I didnt get the method of flashing rom.. what you said above!!
You root again after updating from kdz.. you have gone wrong somewhere thats why you
get emergency mode everytime you restart.
I would suggest.. clear all the links.. make a nandroid backup. Dont use kdz as its not
required. Go into recovery.. clean everything (specially boot) and flash any rom and see if the problem persists.
which rom and which recovery maybe you can try and change the recovery. I wont reccomend kdz because i flashed it 10-12 times but after that i bricked my phone 2 times while flashing with kdz.
Here it is..
I had official gingerbread used when i found out that cm9 ics was out.then i have wait for stable cm9 rom, till hephappy's premature version.
So,i decided to flash premature,so here is a short procedure..
I don't have exact rooting/flashing guide link right now but i found it on xda forums for p500.
Downloaded short fuse, adb, etc and root via usb & command prompt..everything was ok,device sucesfully rooted,i got superuser.
Next step i installed rom manager from google play and follow flash instructions from xda including nandroid backup, booting to recovery, wiping data, dalvik, battery, everything that could be wiped..then installed premature, gapps, everything goes just fine.
I have been using premature till bluepill cames out.
just before flashing new rom i decided to hard reset via vol up+home+power, but i accidently entered into emergency mode by pressing vol down+back+power instead and after that yellow showing i have issue with it.
Downloaded then stock ginger rom from xda sites (20g),installed via kdz, everything flows fine, rooted againg with same procedure, flashed bluepill rom too with same procedure and still having that yellow emergency mode issue.
I think i made it much more clear

Hi, I am new at this forum and i would like to ask you the following question.
recently i bought a samsung galaxy ace 2 phone and today i decided to try a custom ROM with, being a Linux geek for years...
So i chose Kyrillos Rom for my phone and after several failures i got to understand that before i try to load the custom ROM i had to upgrade my firmware and kernel as described here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955679
So i used Odin tool , and tried to flash the new firmware as described here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118119,before proceeding to kernel flash.
Everything went smooth , Odin showed 'pass' indication and my phone after the procedure tried to reboot...and never woke up...
From then i cannot boot my phone at all, i mean neither in usual mode by pressing the power button nor in recovery or download mode. It does not respond to any of those, the screen and the buttons are completely black no matter how many seconds i press them
When i started the procedure my battery level was at 70% and just to be sure i connected it to USB port so as not to empty the battery during the procedure..Now that i connected it to its' charger it does not show the charging indicator
Any ideas as to what happened and how i can fix my problem?
Thank you in advance and keep up the good job!!!

It seems that i followed the exact directions in the posts mentioned, but my phone is I8160P and not I8160 something that i had not noticed up until tonight,so i think that it has something to do with this, even though i cannot understand how my motherboard died because of the firmware upgrade even thw firmware is made for another model...

it does have everything to do with that but it seems more like a hardbrick to me so does the phone charge or have u tried a lot of times to boot it or maybe pull the battery out for 5 min then put it back in and try to go to recovery or download if none of these stuff work then i think its dead

Yes i tried both normal boot pressing the power button and recovery - download modes and it did not power on in any of those cases. Also i tried pulling out the battery for 5 - 10 minutes and it did not power on afterwards either. Is this something that happens often because it seems really strange to me. If it has nothing to do with the firmware upgrade and it is a hardware issue then ok, i can sent it to repair it but if i have already lost the warranty due to root and firmware - custom recovery etc.. then what exactly do i have to do..

i don't think they will know since the phone won't boot up at all they know by going to download so give it a try and take it to a service and if ur in europe rooting does not affect ur warranty hope this helps
