[Q] [HELP!!!!]Stay on Splash Screen (Bootloop) After Installing New Kernel - HTC Sensation

Hello guys,
I'm new here and my device is HTC Sensation XE with stock rom, stock kernel, 4EXT Touch Recovery, Rooted, ICS. Today i decided to overclock, so i want to install Sebastian Kernel. First, i flash Powerfull Kernel Reset i got from Aroma Mod Thread from my 4EXT recovery. And then i flash Overclocked Kernel v 1.5.2 by SebastianFM and then i flash Mod for SB kernel v 2.4
I Rebooted it and then i stuck on the Splash Screen (White Background with HTC logo), just that. Please help me guys. I forgot to make the back up, because what? because i'm a noob. I don't know if there's a back up feature.

Did you have 3.33 firmware? If you didn't have 3.33, try flashing 3.33 firmware first and then flash the kernel again.
If nothing works, flashing back the stock ROM should help.
Note: 4EXT Touch Recovery has a 'Backup' option. It's a good practice to backup your entire ROM with this feature before flashing kernels or mods.

flash the boot.img of the rom manually
edit:if you are S-ON every time you are flashing a rom or an kernel before flashing always enable smartflash feature from 4ext

[Q] Can't boot on custom roms

Hey,
I recently unlocked my phone using HTCDev.com and rooted it.
At first I couldn't get CWM Recovery on it using ROMManager (even though Rommanager said it was installed it loaded to the default recovery) but I got it on there using adb.
Now when I try to flash any Rom it'll just get stuck on the white screen with green HTC text.
When I restore to my backup of the default rom it'll just boot as normal.
I have HBoot 2.00.0002 (Sense 3.0 update) S-ON (unlocked).
I tried flashing it using Rommanager, CWMRecovery, manually wiping the Cache, Data and Dalvik using CWM, I tried flashing in CWM and I tried both MIUI and Cyanogenmod.
Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong?

Yes. Unlocking with htcdev leaves your device S-ON, and stops the rom installers from flashing boot.img. So you're left with custom rom, and stock 3.0 kernel. Might work with sense 3.0, but flash any 3.5 rom and you're stuck at boot.
You need to:
- open the custom rom and extract boot.img
- flash the custom rom by the usual way
- flash boot.img manually using fastboot (look for instructions here in xda)
- and....
- ...
- wait for it...
- ...
- search first before you start a new thread. This has been answered many times here in this sub-forum.
Cheers
Or at least look in the index (see the last link at end of my Sig) this is covered by one of the guides

Hi!
I just flashed CyanogenMod 7.1 ROM, and then flashed it's boot.img with "fastboot flash boot" and that worked well! But i did'n like that rom, so i restored Hyperion ROM in cwm recorvery and it did stuck on the htc -logo. I thought that may be the CyanogenMod boot images fault, and i flashed Hyperions boot image and then it booted normally!
So, until I get my phone S-Off(now unlocked via htcdev) do I need always flash a new boot image if I dont come from ROM wich have same kernel that the ROM what I'm flashing?
Sorry for my english!

this one?
I'm on InsertCoin 4.6.1 but it has no 1.5ghz option, how do I apply the Sebastian kernel, the InsertCoin ROM is all one zip file, where do I get just the kernel download from and how do I load/install using 4ext recovery touch, finally is the Sebastian kernel completely compatible with InsertCoin 4.6.1?

Download Seb's Kernel (see my sig) and use 4ext to apply, like you would a new Rom.
Job done

No worries I had backups, restored back to InsertCoin 4.5.4 which was the version to have the 1.5Ghz option, could have been the firmware as I didn't update it as I thought I was on the latest but not sure what the Sebastian kernel needs.
Anyway it's back working now, I might do a few more checks and try again or chicken out and wait for baadnwz to release 4.6.2 which he's said will have the 1.5Ghz option back in. Was probably just me assuming rather than checking, thanks for the pointers though!

flashing custom kernel

hi
After my success in installing a custom kernel (sebastian's kernel) on my s-on hboot 1.29.00000 device, i wanted to try other kernels so i tried both bricked and faux but both were installed successfully through 4ext CWM but when i reboot i still had my old kernel with broken wifi but when i reflash my old kernel the wifi is fixed so what to do?
use 4EXT recovery
go there ...in tools enable smartflash ..then immediately flash the kernel ...the kernel should change then
thanks!
ganeshp you are simply awesome... thank you:

[help] wifi problem after flashed custom kernel

Hi everyone, i'm running viper 2.4.1 with hboot 1.14 on my phone right now. However, when i tried to flash other custom kernels , i have a weird problem with my phone as it can't re-connect to wifi ( i set my phone to turn off wifi when screen is off). It's always says error and i have to reboot my phone to get it work again. Here what i've did
- flash elementalX 3.2 kernel=> wifi problem=> re-flashed kernel& boot.img=> still have wifi problem
- switch to beatmode 4.4 kernel=> same problem=> reflash kernel + boot.img from elementalX ( beatmode kernel doesn't have boot.img)==> problem still there
- flash stock kernel=> doesn't work, i guess i have to flash stock boot.img but i don't know where to find it
- fresh re-flash viper rom + beatmode kernel/elemenatalX=> wifi problem
- re-flash viper rom only ( with stock kernel comes along with it) => everything works perfectly
===> so i'm stucked right now. i tried to search in kernels thread, viper threads but there is no answers. Can someone help me to solve this problem?
P/s: i always wipe cache/davik cache before and after i flashed things
The kernel is the boot.img
Are you fastbooting the img
WiFi issues almost always are caused by the boot img
Try and fastboot the boot.img from the kernels that you want to use...and make sure their compatible with the Rom you choose

Viper Tom Is compatible with elementalx /beatmode kernels I believe. I also always flash boot.img (comes along with kernel) in fastboot mode.

Hi,
Are you s-on/off?
What recovery?
What is your hboot?
Locked/unlocked?
Did you make a nandroid?

s-off, ext4 recovery, hboot 1.27.000, unlocked, no i did not make nandroid backup.
Hyper nonsense is sense base. You installed the wrong kernel for it. Try the sense base sultan kernel. Not the aosp sultan kernel
Try this version of sultan, it's sense base

You can try using a different recovery like TWRP. Back when I was S-ON and using 4ext, I got a lot of problems because 4ext was really glitchy (the problem you're experiencing is one of the problems I got with 4ext). Anyway, the way to fix this is to get the boot.img file from the hypernonsense ROM .zip file, reboot your phone to the bootloader, select fastboot, plug your phone into your computer, and flash the boot.img file using fastboot. Instructions in further detail on how to do this can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
If you have any questions on what to do then feel free to ask.
Sultan
PS: My AOSP kernel boots on Sense based ROMs but not everything works correctly or well (ex: USB doesn't work). Also, the problem you're having is not the kernel's fault.
Great thanks! I believed it is the end... I've got last question. Why performance gov is not recommended? Are there better settings to make my phone not miss a single UI animation frame ? ;p

Mainly because performance burns a lot of power and produces a lot of heat. I'll remove the "not recommended" flag from it in the next release. A good governor for a smooth UI is Lagfree.
