Increase Speaker Volume (P5113) - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I did some searching but sadly I'm using the app on my phone so it's not exactly easy and I found nothing.
I'm looking for a way to increase the volume coming from my tablet. I've tried the Volume+ app but it didn't give me the increase I was expecting. I realize I can't change out the hardware but I feel the speakers have more to give then is being utilized.
Are there any apps, flashable tweaks, init.d tweaks or even custom ROMs that would provide a solution for me? I'm pretty familiar with flashing via CWM, TWRP and I know my way around Odin so flashing isn't a problem.
Thanks in advance!

general questions after rooting :)

Evening all,
Looking for a bit of direction. I'm new to this all, so please do forgive my lack thereof understanding. Okay, so I rooted the phone and installed clockworkmod along with superwipe, a specific radio (was on the page + recommended ) along with android revolution hd 3.6.1.
Can someone explain to me what a ROm is? I'm assuming it's the Android Revolution HD bit I now have on my phone + overclocked processor, etc. yes? Also, I stumbled upon the forums after purchasing an Anker battery. Are ROMs specific to OE parts? IE can I run the anker battery with my phone + custom ROM with no issues? Lastly, (lol) can someone please tell me how clockworkmod works? I installed it mainly after reading various threads. I don't even understand what's it's freaking for! The clockworkdmod isn't the actual ROOT, is it? I honestly can't seem to figure out what makes rooting so special -- aside from the fact that it's overclocked now. I thought rooting would be equivalent to jail breaking -- getting free apps, etc.. What exactly can I do with the phone, now ROOTED? Thanks for reading fellas! Would GREATLY and sincerely appreciate your time and information!

A rom is the firmware that the phone is running. Actually, clockworkmod is a recovery, you can access to it by powering off your device and then pressing volume down + power button. With it, you can backup and restore your current rom in case something goes wrong when you flash a new rom or other stuff.

Before you do that make sure that you go to settings then power and make sure that fast boot is off... Some roms come with an advanced power menu so when you trying to power down to go to recovery some you can restart and have it go right to recovery
This is one app youll want for sure and heres a vid to show you how it works

[Q] ONDA VX580W Boot modification

Hello people,
I am working on a small project and I couldn't think of a better place to ask for help!
We are using an ONDA VX580W 5 inch tablet for our project and we need to modify it in such a way that, it always remains ON.
It is using an AXP209 Power management chip. My main question is, can this modification be done in the software itself (the kernel maybe?). For example it is getting it's power from the USB. The USB is removed and battery drains out. As soon as the USB is plugged back in, it should boot up automatically, without the need to press the power button.
We have tried a bunch of methods, using hardware modifications and playing around with the voltage. But I am just curious to find out if it can be modified in the software itself, and I need the developers' expertise to guide me.
Can the kernel be modified so that, it boots up if it is receiving power without pressing the button?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry, should've posted this under Android Q&A! Mods please help move.
Let me phrase the question another way..
Does the android kernel have access to the power management chipset so that I can decide when the tablet goes on and off from the kernel software itself?
ICS Custom ROM for Onda V580W
Hi, sorry if I may seem to stealing your thread, but i'm new and as the rules state, I have to post my problem in a thread that is already created, if it is similar to my problem. My problem is this, I have that same exact tablet as you do, but I'm looking for a custom ROM for ICS (Ice-cream sandwitch), the only ones I could find are either for GingerBread or Froyo. As this is my dad's device since he asked me to make it work as the stock firmware sucks a lot, he wanted me to find a custom rom but he really would like it to be for ICS rather than GB/Froyo.
Once again excuse me for hi-jacking the thread.

[Q] Samsung Exhilarate stock tar file.

I heard that shabby was working on it but the thread they were posting in just stalled out, So has anyone heard any news of a stock tar file for Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate being worked on?
we have pretty much everything except the stock recovery image. need someone to mod kernel for root so w can get stock recovery off an unmodified phone. I've tried but really don't know what I'm doing.

Hi Nanition:
As j3r3goss stated, Shabby needs someone to help out. We need an unrooted phone so that we can grab the original recovery that comes on the phone. If you have an unrooted exhilarate and can donate some time/effort, Shabby would be the best person to contact. You can reach him by going to http://webchat.irondust.net/?channels=hitsquad Just type in his name (Shabbypenguin) and if he's lurking he'll respond.
Shabby had someone volunteer, but he said it didn't work out (no details as to why or what happened).

Unfortunatly when I was rooting the phone something weird happened and nearly hard bricked it, but I am currently running Tmobile blaze 4g on it with no sound or calling. So hopefully sometime soon someone will be able to help Shabby get a stock tar figured out and ran.

Shabby has the system.img and boot.img from my phone. Contact him and see if he can explain how to get back to a stock image. Also, if he can't help, get w/ j3r3goss about this as he had the very same issue, but I think he got his back to running the way it's supposed to.
Hope that helps!

stock tar
Here's what I used to get the stock OS back, minus recovery of course. The tar contains the system and boot and can be pushed via Odin. For some reason when I had the radio files in the tar it would fail in Odin so I found a script to update those via CWM. I'm not sure what all needs to be done but since mine was extremely messed up I pushed the system tar via Odin then booted into CWM Recovery flashed the radio.zip then performed factory reset x3, format cache x3, format dalvik cache x3 and fixed permissions. It took a bit but booted just and I have had no issues.
You will need to perform a touch key fw update after you boot recovery, but everything else appears to be fully functional. We still need to get some assistance in getting the boot.img rooted so that we can get a dump of the stock recovery.img.
Hope this helps.
Obviously these are to be used at your own risk.

I am about to start working on a custom System ROM for this phone. What Apps should be included, what apps should be removed (AT&T crapware of course - but what else)?
I want to make a basic one with just a few key apps, and a more advance one for the ultimate tweaker/hacker.
All suggestions (but please be polite) are welcome!
We also still don't have the original restore.img - so if you want to help w/ that, let me know, I may have an angle that we can get it with.

Right now the biggest things for me are bloat and launcher. Everything AT&T needs to go. Is there a way to seperate Google apps or do they pretty much install together? Ther are way to many Google apps that I don't use or ever care to use. Not a big fan of the TW so I'm using ADW, but that can be easily changed by the user. One thing I have been trying to find is support for volume rocker music controls. I use this thing for for music all the time and hate having to skip tracks from the screen.

j3r3: The Google apps can all be installed separately AFAIK. What's TW? I'm familiar with ADW so I assume it's a launcher?
I think there is an app that does the vol control switch, but I don't know what it is off the top of my head.

TW = TouchWiz
Custom Binary Counter Reset
I take absolutely no credit for this, I merely tried it and it does infact work for our phone as well. I was at 42 BTW.

Hey bud. Does shabby need som1 to send him a phone? I got one of these phones. Stock of course. I'd like to root it. I'm hip to flashing. I've got the note running flapjaxxx rom. Samsung s2 running blu kuban. So anyhow. What does he need?
I don't know what's going on with Shabby. As far as I know there are some people trying to get ahold of him to test his rooted kernel and he's not responding nor has he posted his rooted kernel.

I don't know if Shabby needs a phone or not. I personally, haven't heard from Shabby since a couple of weeks ago.
You can always go to his site and PM him and make the offer.
I was actually hoping my wife would buy one of these, and I was going to try to grab the stock restore, but she opted for a Galaxy S II SkyRocket instead (larger screen, more memory, thinner, etc. - but she did like that my phone is smaller (edge-to-edge)).
Anyway, we're pretty much stuck at the moment. We don't have the original restore, and we can't seem to get it.
I think I know what needs to be done, but I'd have to consult w/ Shabby and j3r3. If you're willing to try yourself, you need to get the rooted ROM, and get it installed on your phone. Then, as I understand it, you need to adb the phone and dd a restore.img. Once we have that, we can then install custom ROMs and revert back to stock if needed.
Other than that, we have full root, and I have been able to uninstall AT&T crapware, Samsung Crapware, and also most of the other system stuff that isn't needed/wanted.
The next step is, as I find time, to create a minimal ROM that has only what is necessary for the phone to function. There will be a couple of other apps (to verify root, and allow you access to all files and system settings), but other than that - that'll be it.
Let me know if you think you'd be willing to be a guinea pig on this - and you should let j3r3 and shabby know as well (if shabby is still interested).

Got the Original Kernel and Platform.tar files
So, I found, DL'd and am currently uploading the original Samsung Exhilarate SGH-i577 Opensource Kernel and Platform Files... Good find? I think (hope) so.
If you need them, go here: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B7...VmckQwRnc/edit
You can DL any of the files I have posted there, or you can just DL the entire zip here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B7nWFHy_HCE7aTBEbF83T2Z0Mzg11.
Or you can just them from where I did: The files were DL'd from the Samsung Open Source website: http://opensource.samsung.com/index.jsp - just do a search for "i577".

ROM for Exhilarate?
Hi
I am new to this...
I was able to successfully root my Galaxy Exhilarate (Thank you) - trying to unlock it so I can use it with other carriers - do I need a specific ROM file? are the files posted by Black-wolf what I need?
Thanks

GHORR: Here's the deal: As of right now, there is no way to unlock your phone for use with other carriers unless you can convince AT&T to send you the unlock code. To do that (I know this from experience), you'll need to be able to explain why you want it unlocked to them. Read this thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812976
I know that doesn't help. However, you can also do a search for "SIM Unlock" - there are some phones that have had their system files hacked and you might be able to unlock it that way. Note, I am in no way responsible for anything that happens to your phone. This is at your own risk.
Good luck

Thanks for replying - but I thought that by flashing the ROM it removes the lock, did I get it wrong?

Boot sound??

Okay, so here's my dilemma. Unlike most other people I want boot sound enabled on my ROM's. I have spent countless hours searching every forum and post, trying everything that is suggested. Nothing seems to work. The only breakthrough I've came across the last several months is that while running a ROM with boot animation support and a stock kernel I am able to achieve both custom mods. What I'm shooting for is to be able to do the same with a custom kernel. I'm relatively new to this but through process of elimination I have concluded that the coding for this lies in the boot image. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that way.
Listed under the features in almost every single ROM the developer usually puts "muted boot sound" my question is, how do I un mute the sound? Is there a simple fix, possibly a script that I can run or does it involve pulling apart the boot image and editing code? If it has to do with the boot image could somebody possibly tell me what code needs to be edited. I have no problem decompiling and recompiling boot images, I'm just not sure what part of the code needs to be added. Any help would be extremely appreciated! I'll keep my fingers crossed!

see my post in andybone's mod thread. you need an edited volumedb in system/etc folder where the volume is raised. i think they just set the volume level in the db to 0 and the file i posted raises it so you can now hear sounds. confirmed to work on CR6.2 by myself. oh and you will need a PowerOn.ogg in system/media/audio/ui folder... hope it helps!!:highfive:

XZ Premium - Audio Balance, flash/root/ViPER? Completely confused!

HELP PLS?!
I have the XZ Premium, disappointed that it does not have the option to balance audio left/right, I have slightly less hearing in my left ear so drives me nuts when wearing headphones.
I've tried a few APK's with no success and i feel that ViPER4Android is my best option at this time. I've rooted devices before but found them to be much easier, this phone is completely confusing me.
Can somebody tell me the easiest way to get viper on my phone? Like step by step guide?
Or if anybody knows an easier way to get audio balance?!
Much appreciated!!

Are you still having trouble with this? You need to flash a recovery first in order to boot into recovery.
