The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: free simulation

Hi,
I made it for fun.
THG2TG
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Pocket PC Phone interface simulation.
Because for me, this book is the one of the most important thing on this galaxy.
(hope you know that the movie is upcoming on May)

the logo is animated
when you press hardware arrow keys: up/down
it will display more or less information:
- today date
- today weather conditions (if you have installed MY|WEATHER)
- last phone calls
- last SMS message (with ot without the text: tap the message title)
- last email messages (from up to 5 independent email accounts you have in Outlook)
there are four sounds to use,
when wake up, when tap...
to access the menu: tap-and-hold on any point of screen
When you tap the screen, you will listen a warning message, just 2 minutes before the Earth will stop exist.
Just imagine:
you've gone to the super-market on Friday early morning,
you stay on the veeery long line before cash box,
(long like half of hour),
and you simple cannot imagine:
what am I doing here?
Take you Pocket PC and turn it on. You see and hear the answer.
Tap the screen: you see and hear more.
DON'T PANIC.
Enjoin.
If you don't undestand,
use this one:
This version is freeware.
Should works fine on portrait and landscape orientations of screen.
Hmmm... in the square screen too
(Who has the square screen now? Come on!)
I don't know if I will improve this version.
Maybe more than the last message.
Maybe text-to-speech engine.
Maybe calendar's events.
Maybe the movie trailers...
I saw the trailer of the movie, and the interface of the book looks like:
http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/main.html
but they enlarge the book size much more. On the original text we read:
"A screen about three inches by four..."
is this (almost) exactly the size of Pocket PC screens?
So... if you have any comments,
or any ideas,
how to improve the simulation,
or what's 42
please email me: [email protected]
This program has no intention to infringe on the rights of authors, producers or distributors of the upcoming movie.
This program does not use any original images or sounds from the movie but only simulate these.
I like it.
I feel that this application could be expanded to include useful hitch-hikerly advice...like where you towel is and how to use it to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.
Awesome
have to give it up to u.... thats one hec of an idea.. the book is fantastic.. eagerly waiting for the movie...
great... keep me posted on teh update..
thx

Looks like this could be cool, will have a look soon thanks for the time you put in!
Don't panic
very nice! You could make it work in landscape mode?
Don't panic
Very Nice! How hard would it br to add a battery monitor to that?

BallVenture for Android (sort-of like Bounce for Nokia)

I released my first game on Android (BallVenture) and would like to know people's opinion on it. Basically its a ball that you can control with your finger (fling it on screen) or trackball (if you have one). The goal is to reach a vortex in each level, and each level introduces new traps/challenges that prevent you from reaching it (harder every level).
Yeah it's sort-of like Bounce but from a top view and it has some very nice 2D graphics.
So would you play it? And what would you change in it?

First of all, this is a pretty neat game. However, I have only played it for five minutes and I have two pieces of constructive criticism. These are just based on what I feel personally, so please do not be offended by what I have to say:
1) The volume control: I feel that you should be able to control it with the hard volume keys (rocker for my nexus one) and that should adjust media volume, but it does not. You have to go into options and that's sort of a pain if you want to adjust volume in-game / on-the-fly.
2) The pause button: I was trying to pause the game to type this response and could not figure it out. Logically, to me, it makes more sense o use the menu key as a pause button as opposed to the back key.
3) Screen timeout: After X amount of minutes no change has been made, screen should turn off. Seems that the game forces it to stay on.
Again, these are just personal opinions I have formed in a few minutes of downloading the product. I will continue to post if I find things but if the full version costs, I don't feel it is one application I would pay for.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I died on the second level and realized I don't have the patience to play this game. The ball bouncing off the walls into spikes angers me in ways it should not... haha.

Not bad
I can see this being funny for a while, I like the design and it works well with the facial recognition. I would only consider not having an ad pop up while the app is opening, but rather when someone goes to view the pic or saves it (only my opinion though), anyway - good job!

Announcing Dog Lens 1.0
Dog Lens is a simple interface which helps you to recognise dog breeds with ease!
Disclaimer
1. Since the application is in development, it currently supports 120 dog breeds. I am working on adding more as soon as possible. You can check/request for more breeds below.
2. I am a college student, and I don't have the resources to keep high end servers running. The app might be slow at times. Please bear with me.
3. Again, the app is in BETA. A detailed analysis of the picture(that is, name of the dish rather than the category) would be rolled out with next update!
Get the app here (Only Android) : https://goo.gl/psFPJa

Hello!
Nice app, although pretty slow (as you mentioned). Once, it crashed when uploading and recognizing the picture (the report is sent).
IMHO, it would be nice to have the possibility to view the history of your searches (at least, successful )
Also, why do you need a permission to record voice?

Thank you! It might have crashed due to a memory error. I have fixed it now (backend) I'll keep it in my mind to add the required feature!
Its a part of the library I am using for accessing Camera
I’m working at zoo and I am specified on dogs. From early childhood I used to feed dogs from streets and I’ve started to love them. Anyway I can’t recognize all dog breeds by photos or even if I see them in front of me and I have found an app that’s working like shazam and shows you the breed. When I surfed in internet to see more details, I saw an advertising with that dog and a pokemon, and that made me feel very curious. https://worlddogfinder.com/blog/dog-trivia/dog-pokemon It is the website from ad and here you can read about pokemons that were inspired from dog breeds.

Tips for the Gaming Experience
Clothing: Brightly colored clothes work best for ensuring optimal effects.
Lighting: Conduct gameplay in naturally lit environments and avoid interference from strong artificial light sources.*
Mobile phone height: Place your phone on a stable table or board 40 to 150 cm from the ground.
Distance between you and your phone: Maintain between 2 and 2.5 m of distance with your phone. The gaming area should be free of obstacles so as to avoid collision or injury.
Adjust the tilt of the phone to ensure that the player is completely visible in the preview box.
Avoid using a gaming area where others are likely to move around so as not to disturb motion control effects.
Safety tips You should Know
During gaming, do not place the rear camera close to your eyes. Keep your eyes more than 5 cm from the camera for safety.
The phone may overheat during gameplay. Prevent children from touching the phone. It is recommended that you manage your time well and not play games for too long.
