The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: free simulation - General Topics

Hi,
I made it for fun.
THG2TG
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Pocket PC Phone interface simulation.
Because for me, this book is the one of the most important thing on this galaxy.
(hope you know that the movie is upcoming on May)

the logo is animated
when you press hardware arrow keys: up/down
it will display more or less information:
- today date
- today weather conditions (if you have installed MY|WEATHER)
- last phone calls
- last SMS message (with ot without the text: tap the message title)
- last email messages (from up to 5 independent email accounts you have in Outlook)
there are four sounds to use,
when wake up, when tap...
to access the menu: tap-and-hold on any point of screen
When you tap the screen, you will listen a warning message, just 2 minutes before the Earth will stop exist.
Just imagine:
you've gone to the super-market on Friday early morning,
you stay on the veeery long line before cash box,
(long like half of hour),
and you simple cannot imagine:
what am I doing here?
Take you Pocket PC and turn it on. You see and hear the answer.
Tap the screen: you see and hear more.
DON'T PANIC.
Enjoin.
If you don't undestand,
use this one:
This version is freeware.
Should works fine on portrait and landscape orientations of screen.
Hmmm... in the square screen too
(Who has the square screen now? Come on!)
I don't know if I will improve this version.
Maybe more than the last message.
Maybe text-to-speech engine.
Maybe calendar's events.
Maybe the movie trailers...
I saw the trailer of the movie, and the interface of the book looks like:
http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/main.html
but they enlarge the book size much more. On the original text we read:
"A screen about three inches by four..."
is this (almost) exactly the size of Pocket PC screens?
So... if you have any comments,
or any ideas,
how to improve the simulation,
or what's 42
please email me: [email protected]

I like it.
I feel that this application could be expanded to include useful hitch-hikerly advice...like where you towel is and how to use it to avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.

Awesome
have to give it up to u.... thats one hec of an idea.. the book is fantastic.. eagerly waiting for the movie...
great... keep me posted on teh update..
thx

Looks like this could be cool, will have a look soon thanks for the time you put in!

Don't panic
very nice! You could make it work in landscape mode?

Don't panic
Very Nice! How hard would it br to add a battery monitor to that?

BallVenture for Android (sort-of like Bounce for Nokia)

I released my first game on Android (BallVenture) and would like to know people's opinion on it. Basically its a ball that you can control with your finger (fling it on screen) or trackball (if you have one). The goal is to reach a vortex in each level, and each level introduces new traps/challenges that prevent you from reaching it (harder every level).
Yeah it's sort-of like Bounce but from a top view and it has some very nice 2D graphics.
So would you play it? And what would you change in it?

First of all, this is a pretty neat game. However, I have only played it for five minutes and I have two pieces of constructive criticism. These are just based on what I feel personally, so please do not be offended by what I have to say:
1) The volume control: I feel that you should be able to control it with the hard volume keys (rocker for my nexus one) and that should adjust media volume, but it does not. You have to go into options and that's sort of a pain if you want to adjust volume in-game / on-the-fly.
2) The pause button: I was trying to pause the game to type this response and could not figure it out. Logically, to me, it makes more sense o use the menu key as a pause button as opposed to the back key.
3) Screen timeout: After X amount of minutes no change has been made, screen should turn off. Seems that the game forces it to stay on.
Again, these are just personal opinions I have formed in a few minutes of downloading the product. I will continue to post if I find things but if the full version costs, I don't feel it is one application I would pay for.
EDIT: Unfortunately, I died on the second level and realized I don't have the patience to play this game. The ball bouncing off the walls into spikes angers me in ways it should not... haha.

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bobigocheff.prioritynotesads
Here is the wbesite of the program :
http://prioritynotes-app.com/
Looks promising. Can it do hierarchical or sub notes?
For the moment no ,but if you request it ,it could be implemented for the next update ,and the best of all is that your name will be in there too (you can read about that at the end of the description in Android Market )
Downloading it. Will try ASAP and give a feedback. You should make it themeable. ICS and WP7 are good themes that I think will fit perfectly.
@Felimenta97 Thank you . The app already has some themes but your proposes are interesting .After you try it ,please post your impressions and tell me a little more about what themes should be included
Have a nice day or night
Hey -- Nice app. Posting up a review in a couple of minutes on Android Static. One really confusing/misleading thing about it though is that it looks like the slider bar with percentage is meant to represent the amount of completion for each task -- not priority.
I'd change it from a percentage to simply a number to make it a little clearer.
Thank you for your review .I just read it and like it very much . Thanks for the constructive critics ,I will try in the next update to add support to google notes and make a widget .In any case I would like to add your name in the program as the first person to review the app So if you like the idea PM your name .
My name is Matt. Feel free to let me know about updates, development etc.

Planned Features
Furthermore, I'm planning on adding more features soon,
Remove ads
Get rid of overlapping markers and displaying the number of photos in the area instead
Geo-tagging photos
Sharing a screenshot of the map (with the markers)
Currently only photos from the camera folder are shown. There will be an option in the settings to include all photos
Long-term goal: redo the interface for Android 3+
Why did I create this?
I saw this feature on iOS devices and really wanted to have it on my Android phone. I created this app about 2 years ago but actually never got around to publishing it! Why now? There are a few similar applications but they are slow and reload all the photos on startup which is frustrating so I thought that I would publish my app and ask for suggestions - I'm really passionate about this app so it would be great if you could have a look at it and reply with suggestions What else would you like to see?
Ads
I'm a student and it would be great to get some spare money so at the moment there are ads (AdMob) included in the app. However, I don't really see it working for me (maybe for AdMob...) so I'm planning to remove them and hope for donations instead. Why? As I said, I created this app for myself 2 years ago but I'd love the others to benefit from it as well. I'm really hoping to get some feedback and incorporate it into future releases so it would be great to hear back from you, Guys!
Thanks!
Bartek

Looks good. Now I am waiting for my first episode...
As a comment, while I don't mind having the adds, there should exist the possibility to close them (and get them back on next page, next app start, etc). Plus I would move the banner totally on the bottom. It occupies 1/4 of the screen...
EDIT: no new episode after 1h.
First empressing, the banner below is a little bit annoying, but it's the free version so I get it!
In the top of the corner left, you see 'soon'.. maybe it's a little idea for placing a countdown for the last 20 seconds?
I just saw the newsflash of my own timeline and it was pretty funny to see how my status updates comes on 'Live TV' haha!
Nice work!
Only the battery consumption is a bit high.. 10% reduced by watching 4min53sec. /Nexus 4 Stock ROM
Keep up the good work!
I really fancy the idea of this! But hopefully support for twitter and instagram in the future?
Call me dim or stupid but I can not get the apk to download. Every time I press the big down load button my browser just opens another exact same page and still with no download. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks :-0

[APP][3.0+] Time Until V1.0

I started development for this app longer than a year ago, now I'm releasing it. I learned a lot during development. The app is about counting down (or up) to any date. It can count in any unit (from seconds to years) and I really tried to create an elegant UI. I also created a small promotional video (note that the video doesn't show all the qualities of the app).
I already have several features in mind for future releases.

Google Play Description
Time Until: App & Widget
This app is an elegant and stylish way to count down to any date in the future. Set a timer or see how many seconds, minutes, hours, days, working days, weeks, months or years are left until an event that is important to you. Create as many countdowns as you want, and count down to any special date, like Christmas, a trip, a vacation or even the next Halley's Comet appearance. Select any image to set as a discreet blurred background for each countdown, or leave the default phasing colors background. And share the countdowns you create!
You can also set a past event and count the time since (just check "Time Since" in the settings to activate the function). For example, see for how many seconds you have been alive! The app interface is simple and intuitive, and in Kit Kat (4.4) and later, you can enter immersive mode by double tapping and the countdowns will take up the whole screen.
Add the beautiful and dynamic widget to your homescreen to have a subtle reminder of the time until (or since) a date. You can select from two styles: dark and clear. Each suitable for a personal taste or home screen background. You can also customize units for the widget. Widget and main app countdowns are independent for maximum customizability.
The app is completely free and has no restrictions, enjoy!
Expect future updates with new features and suggest any you want.
If you liked the app, please rate.
Permissions:
The read the contents of USB storage permission is to read the images for backgrounds.
The network permissions are to display ads and keep the app free.
As a new user, right now I can't insert links, the link is in the youtube video description, or try searching for Time Until or "Bruno Schalch" in the play store.
