Need Suggestions - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

IDK but i am facing random power off...when i turns it back on it again powers off after the bootanimation...
Chinmay said that it must be a kernel prob and i sholid change the frequency to 1000 ...i changed it and my phone remained on for half an hour and then powered off eralier it used to power off itself within 15 min...
Can someone suggest me that is it the kernel prob or battery prob...
If kernel prob tye suggest me a good gb based kernel...
Thanks You

I mentioned this earlier somewhere.remove your battery and try to rotate it.if it does the battery's swollen and probably gone.

When u over charge your phone, the battery seems to bulge.. Its when u keep it for charging whole night or somthing like that.. When u do that repeatedly, battery bulges.. N thus it become weak.. Low back up n all that..

My old LG battery bulged up like a balloon after 2.5 years and it just died every time i try to use, e.g. connecting wifi or making calls. Or even at random times. And yes, if you can spin it on a flat surface it's probably gone. Mine was at the extent of pushing against the battery cover..
I read somewhere that overcharging the current new type of Li-ion battery is unlikely (some regulating mechanism in the phone that will stop charging even at plugged in) and spoilage is probably due to too many cycles used or simply meaning aging; or manufacturing fault.

i think my battery is completely gone..cant handle my phone for more than 15 min..Around 20 % drain in 10 mains of continous use...this is all because of my foolishness...as this was my first phone i didnt knew about this battrey thing...when the battery used to get at 99% used to charge it again to 100% ...i did this for 1 month or so....at last i ****ed my battrey very deep....
thank u guys for ur consideration and awesome comments....i have ordered a battrey from flipkart !!

Even my battery spins quite well on the floor. Maybe I need a new battery too...

Battery issues anyone?

Had my baby for a little over a year and a half, been nothing but a great phone in that time. This is where the problem starts... I'll be using it like normal, texting and surfing, and will have 98% battery, the phone will shut down, and when it decides to start back up, I will have 14% battery or less.... But it will go up if I leave it alone..... I've tried wiping the battery stats, even charging with the phone off, nothing is working. I will attach screenshots so you can see what's up.

Your battery is bad. Same thing happened to me, I recommend just buying a new OEM battery from a reputable dealer on Amazon, that's what I did. Try setting it down on a table and push on one side and if it rocks back and forth its bad. Or you can just look at it and see its swollen
Mine did that and it was just a bad battery. If you take the battery out and place it on a flat surface you may notice that it rocks left and right. If it rocks a lot or if you feel the middle and it feels swollen it may be symptoms of a bad battery.

Same thing has been happening to me for the past two days. I just took out my battery and sure enough it is swollen. Thanks for input!
edit: Is it dangerous to keep using it like this for the next few days until the new battery comes in?

It is dangerous because battery acid can get on you and cause sever skin irritation. You can continue like this for 1 to 2 days MAX until you get your new battery. Try not to use it because using it more will cause it to swell more, DUH try to only use it for emergencies and then once you get the new battery clean the terminals and you'll be good to go
I used mine got a while like that because i didn't know it was the battery lol

I'm curious about charging habits of the people who have bad batteries. I have had my phone since the day it came out and my battery is still fine. I never let it get below 30% unless I'm testing a new ROM. Killing lithium ion batteries is really bad for them. So how many of you drain it all the way on a regular basis?
I'm still using my old vibrant battery (at times). I don't think that it's as strong as the spare that I purchased a few months ago, but, is on par with the 18 month old battery that came with the phone. I zap them all the way down a lot of the time (then swap to a fully charged one). I do(try) to recharge to full before use though.
Mine does it but only when I'm using wifi or data could that still be a bad battery

I run mine down to 1 percent on a daily basis. Never let it die though. I was under the impression that if you let it drain to zero you're asking for trouble. I could easily change my ways though.

Hechoen.......I use mine till under 10% or so and then full charge it. Been doing that over a year now. My wife however plugs hers in off and on throughout the day without letting it full charge all at once and she has a bad battery....

Shallow discharge cycles are generally accepted to be better for Li-ion batteries than deep ones.

That is probably a bad idea. I would try to plug it in around 15-20% with 20% being the best time. According to the batteryuniversity website 20-80% is ideal for li-ion batteries because it keeps the heat down. Charging from less than 15% creates heat because that is a low level and takes a bit longer to charge from therefore exposes the battery to more heat. A good charger and battery will shut off the charger once it hits 100% and only allow for a trickle charge if the battery drops below 100%. But I have seen my phone get hotter from about 85% to 100% if Im using it ie: plugged in and streaming music or using navigation.

[Q] False Battery reading!!!!!!!!

Hi there my fellow comrades, My LG optimus 3D has a problem when it comes to reading my battery percentage, the phone will charge the battery with the corret voltage tested with a voltage meter but when the battery voltage is 4.7 volts i.e a full battery it desplays 3% on sreen.
I have tride goin into clockworkmod and deletin batterystats.bin a number of time but my fone still doesent go passed 4% on a good day and after a couple of minutes of use my fone turns off because it thinks its a low battery but the battery has a full charge, i really do think this is a softwere fault, oh and i didnt do anything to the phone when it started doin this witch was about a month ago.
the things ive done so far is
- rooted my fone
- tride a new rom still the same reasult
- deleted Bateerystats.bin then letting it charge over night to find its a 3% still
Oh and i just want to point out the day after my warrenty ran out my phone decided to do this, i really do think it is a built in time bomb so it was designed to "brake"
The problem could be battery related , your battery has some circuitry to prevent overcharging and some calculations if memory serves. Could be full but that circuit may have failed. Try a new battery if it doesn't work find an adapter that is powerful enough to start your phone (4.7 volts 1500 mah) and wire it. (Do it right do not short it and wire + to + - to - ) Then flash a stock rom and baseband unroot it and take it to a warranty service center.
In my humble opinion...

Sorry i forget to mention that i allready tride a differant battery still the same and i allso tride a battery calibration app aswell
Does it overheat when charging ? If it doesn't read below ;
It's hard to guess but if it is software related you would need equipment to test it as battery cannot be used. First as i told you before you need an adapter.
Specs should be the same as your battery. You need to wire it to your phone as i explained before. Boot it if it still shows as 4 percent it probably is software related... Now don't remove the adapter and go back to gingerbread using guides throughout the forum. It should be fixed.
If it's not then it's time for you to go to a professional.
If you don't think you can do those steps then it's time for you to go to a professional. Don't go to LG before going back to stock roms or unrooting. They'll void your warranty otherwise. Yell at them , call their superiors , make some noise if they do. That seemed to work in my case.
Hope I Helped.
Cheers!

Drop phone battery in the rain

hi i drop my phone battery in the rain last few days. and i am experiencing battery drain now. is it possible that the battery is damaged? but i used app like battery monitor widget and it still shows battery health good. help me please?
If battery became wet you should have take it out and let it dry completely. Otherwise it may become damaged.

I would agree with orbter, the battery should have been left to dry for at least a day in nice warm direct sunlight for even thinking about using it in a phone again
Just buy a new battery

Extremely hot (60C?) phone when charging last night, need help!

Hi XDA
I was leaving my phone charging last night as usual, but when I wake up this morning, my phone is extremely hot, maybe at least 60 degree celsius(140F) for I literaly can't touch it, it burns. The phone is powered off and when I turned it back on (thank God it did turn on) after cooling down, it's only like half charged. And the battery itself appears to be normal as usual. This never happened before and my battery temp never goes above 40 degree.
The first thing I can think of it's a failing battery, but can any other things cause it too? What should I do? Will it be safe to charge it again?
BTW, I'm using the Sumsang Galaxy R I9103 and the stock battery, with CM 10.1 nightly builds.
Bump? I tried to carefully charge it a few times and it seems just fine, any ideas? I've already ordered a backup battery online just in case
you shouldn't put your phone to charge for the whole night... an average phone gets charged in almost 4 to 5 hours... hence you may risk damaging your battery.... other thing could be that your battery is already gone worse as you suggested.... it is good that you ordered a new battery. just don't keep it on charging the whole night...
PLEASE HIT THANKS IF THIS HELPED
I leave my phone plugged in overnight to charge as well and I've never had such a problem. Seeing as your phone was turned off during the charging, my best guess is that your battery is failing or your charger is failing. If you have an extra charger, you could try that, if now I would just hop online and buy a new set.
Good luck!

random shutdowns and battery drain

hi fellas,
i have a sensation z710
i have random shuwdown problem for a while.
i tried different roms, different kernels, firmware update, battery calibration. i put a piece of paper on the bottom of battery
but i still have same problem.
and i noticed that when phone has %70-80 charge and when it shut down, after i start it again, it says low battery and shows %10-15 battery.
i wanted to try another battery but i dont want to spend money for that before i would be sure, problem is my battery.
is there any thing ı can do to fix this problem?
thanks for helping

Although I can't be 100% sure, it sounds like your battery... What battery are you using?
I suggest you buy an original Anker 1900Mah battery, and see how you go.
you need a new battery, your battery is getting old, that is why random reboots are popping......how long did u have the battery? If u have the battery for almost a year and a half, time to start changing
i have stock battery and it s almost two years old. Time to change battery ha ?

YES! Please get Anker Battery from eBay or Amazon. It will make your life more easier

battery lifetime does not only depend on age, but also on usage.
for my knowledge (correct me if i am wrong) lion batteries suffer age and heat (so usage in my opinion has a little impact only). i received my htc sensation some mounths ago from my brother that changed phone and the battery was swollen. in fact the phone shuts down very much. i have an anker battery from some days and the problem disappeared check if he battery is swollen, if yes change it!

They are affected by chage and discharge as well. The charge and discharge is hard on the battery and causes it to wear out. But that's also how you use it. So basically using it wears it out. Same as car tires. They will last a long time if you keep the car parked. But the more you drive the faster the tires wear out.
