Somebody has to be working on this. This is getting kinda irritating. Listen to music, flash black lines, watch movies, flash black lines, type notes in supernote, flash blacklines. Not a big deal in terms of performance, just an irritating bother for a $600 tablet!

I laughed.
I have them as well, and while I would like them to pack up and leave, I concur with the OP that it is not a deal breaker of any sort.
I can't remember having them on ICS -- would this be a JB thing?
Only happens to me very rarely, only when browsing, once or twice a day at most. Never in games, films, music or documents...
Working on it?-- That implies that they still care about us. They don't. I have almost 50 of these that I support, all have the issue and even after working with Tien and Gary to get a resolution.... they have given me absolutely nothing as far as support goes.
They have suggested cold boots and factory resets... that is all. And NO, those actions fix NOTHING.
Tien... you even abandoned my support call..
Last communication that I had with him was this on 11/7:
Hi Jordan,
Sorry for the late reply, but I just wanted to inform you that we have passed all this information back to HQ so they can test and figure out a solution. I am confident, with all the material we've supplied, that they can duplicate and figure something out. I just want to thank you for sticking through this. Hopefully the new firmware update will address all these issues.
Tien

Tien,
I am assuming by now that you or your company has been able to reproduce the graphics issues, reboots and issues that have been happening with the TF700. If you are having trouble with that, there are large groups of users getting these problems, documented here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811538&page=14
Please let me know what asus plans to do to resolve these issues. Again, these are company machines that are relied on everyday as a primary work space for some. Please email me asap to let me know a time frame that I can expect some sort of resolution.

I was having them, but didn't notice any since the update I got today. I *think* they fixed it... I'm looking for somebody to confirm that I'm not dreaming...

From time to time, a black horizontal line flashes across the screen, usually in the upper third (at least when I noticed), seems to be random. Looks like a GPU driver issue (maybe NVidia's fault?) because it appeared first with the JB updates.

Need the display to be mostly white, then just wait. It's real quick maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a second.
I see this once every couple minutes on cleanRom 2.7.x

Yep, correction on my earlier report of none after 23 update, thought I saw one last night, know I saw one this morning, no developers options ticked.
But frequency and duration greatly reduced....still needs more work though.
I concur with above poster, still not totally resolved
Definitely less than last update, but still there every once in a while.
Thanks for the improvement, but keep looking.
There was an update yesterday?! OMG, I hope CROMI Dev picks it up soon! Its soo irritating. Certain apps seem to trigger it more often than others! I'm using CROMI 2.7.2 .

I'm pretty sure sbdags is applying his magic as we speak. He has a lot to go over, so give it a few days. I do hope the new update remedies it to a large extent, because they are annoying.
The remark of "no developer options ticked" seems to deny me the pleasure of disabling 2D GPU GUI rendering and seeing them leave automagically. I had that idea yesterday evening -- well, I'm going to try anyway. (If it should somehow work out, that'd be a strong lead to suspect a driver issue. Damn you, NVIDIA! )
PS: are we all on CROMI? (Me: v2.7.2) I guess stock ROM is no different to all intents and purposes as far as the black line issue goes. Do any of the people in here that use AOSP/AOKP/CM10 have them too?
My Nexus 7 used to do this as well. I think it's a problem with the Tegra 3 while the wifi is being used. I haven't noticed it on my Nexus 7 since 4.2 though.

Interesting suggestion! I hadn't noticed anuyhthing partiucular in connection with the WiFi being on while the problem occurred. I am curious to see if I can ''fix'' this myself. Anoter workaround for an -- essentially -- hardware issue? (If you are correct, and that carries a rather high probablility, you'd suspect the Tegra3 to be susceptible to some kind of EMF reception and static build-up internally or something,. Ugh, another unsolvable issue to contend with. And still I like this device very much.

I already got mine for about a week now and so far I'm not very pleased...
Too many bugs, can not wake up from sleep mode. doesn't seem to want to auto connect to my wifi after it's been awoken. yeah, i know i can turn off the wifi disconnect policy, but that's not a good solution! I'm almost to a point I'd rather retun and maybe wait for the Lenovo, Samsung 10.1, Toshiba, or just get the Acer. i bet some of the Acer users are laughing at us now.

do a search, it's definitely not an isolated issue. It's a VERY common issue as far as not waking from sleep!
shoot, go ahead and return it. i'd love to hear your experiences with the competition - good or bad. i'm getting tired of buying and returning tablets, lol.
the tf is a keeper right now. maybe in 6 months it'll be up for sale... though they did say the dock will be compatible with future models so i'll probably keep that part.

I've got a very nice router and mine Transformer does the sleep of death sometimes. There is definitely a bug, either with the hardware or with how the hardware runs HC. If it doesn't happen to you, that's great, but it is affecting several people here, and who knows how many if you take the percentage and apply it to all that have been sold.
That said, it seems every tablet has its issues, so hunting for the perfect, trouble-free device is going to be pretty hard. I'm sticking with the Transformer, warts and all, because it's the best out there for the price.

You probably should have just posted in that one instead of making this. Like others above, I'm experiencing no problems with my Transformer whatsoever. I have a WNDR3700 with dd-wrt and everything works wonderfully.
Edit: Do people with the sleep of death problem have "Never" checked in the wifi sleep policy?

Well it does the same thing when tethered to my Evo. Seems to be the only device that has trouble with both, so I think we can safely narrow it down to the Transformer There is definitely an issue here, but it's difficult to recreate because it seems to happen randomly. It happened to me this past weekend, didn't do it for a few days, then did it three times in one day. It hasn't done it today, and may not for a week, who knows? It's not the times it only does it once in a few days that bothers me, it's the multiple rebooting in a matter of hours that gets me. I'm not giving it back though, not unless it gets to be a regular thing.
I turned off the screen lock, hoping that maybe helps, but it's hard to know until it happens, ya know? Hopefully Asus will have a fix for it, but I doubt it since it's hard to recreate.

No, but you said you believe it's a flop because of the bugs and use words like "we" and "us" . For it to be a flop because of bugs it has to have a rather large percentage of users havings bugs that are bad enough to make them return the device.
Those experiencing the problem have the latest firmware update?

ive done the update, and have no problems.
Wasn't there another thread that said this Wifi issue could be resolved by turning off the detect Wifi option? I have this option off on all my devices because I do not want the device notifying each time I walk by a hotspot.
Before anyone gets angry....
I tried searching "cancel update", "cancel postpone update", and a couple other combinations - still can't find the thread I'm looking for.
I remember reading that there is a way to cancel updates that have already been pushed to the device. After reading the reviews of 3.2 - I think I'll hold off for now... but the only option I have is to postpone (2 more times).
Can anyone shed light on how to permanently stop the update?
Thanks!

Who told you this nonsense ? I am on 3.2 right now and wifi works exactly like on PRIME 1.6 (3.1 based)
Only issue I've had after 3.2 is Dice Player not loading, but think that's fixed now haven't found the new ver yet, so dunno what peeps are complaining about.
3.2 works great. It's definitely better than 3.1. I dont see a reason not to update unless your tab is rooted.
Does it fix everything people here wanted? Definitely no.
When you get your hope too high, you are going to be disappointed.
A lot of people here act like spoiled whinning kids .
They have no clue about how much work required to debug, program and test it.
They just want everything to be fixed in days. This happens to 3rd party developers as well and that's why they dont feel like their work being appreciated.

Enjoying what I have is exactly what I want to do. I use remote connect to my PC all the time - and the new "circle" mouse pointer is a deal breaker for me. I'd simply like to stick with the pointer I have now.
As for the option to say "no" to the update... when is that given? My wife tells me "hey your computer told me to update" (awesome)... so now all I have is the "update" or "postpone" prompt. Will I still get the option?

I have not noticed any new issues with 3.2. My wifi & gps still work. In fact one problem seems to have gone away for the time being. That was having to push the power button multiple for my transformer to wake up.

I'm having at least:
- wi-fi problems (connection drops every couple of minutes, major speed decrease)
- browser window refreshing/redrawing much slower
Btw, for the wi-fi a possible temporary solutions is to set the connection to static as opposed to DHCP (the connection drops seem to be connected to DHCP). Also, take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16169854&postcount=32

I don't know if there are other meanings of "write to SD" but I ugraded to 3.2 about 20 mins ago and I just created a ".doc" file with Polaris Office and saved directly to my external SD. I also created and deleted a folder from the stock file manager...

So it seems I'm getting more and more of these nowadays. I am not a power user by any means, and I can confirm that the machine rebooted a couple of times while watching 720p videos.
Is there a CPU usage/temperature log somewhere on android? That could help track down the origin of these nasty reboots and file complaints to ASUS.

I've had at least 2-3 random reboots in the last 4 days. Once it happened while loading up the Facebook app. Another time it happened while browsing the web with the stock browser. Both times the screen when white and had a thin black line down the side, then after 15s the boot screen appeared with the Asus logo.
So far most everything has been working and I've been happy with the Infinity. But having a number of random reboots in a single week and not being able to get an uptime over 2 days is a fairly major problem for me. Note that it is not rooted or tweaked in any way.

I couldn't agree more. Actually I was in the same position and state of mind... You know, all about "what about my warranty etc.".
By the end, I got pissed not using the TF700 just because it was laggy and not as expected. The basic thought was just that I bought a device for 700€, I just need to use it at it's utmost, or at least as I would like to use it.
I took the risk to root, on CM10.1 Nightly. Well, that was quite fast and now it's a new tablet. As Jojo said it definitively worth the switch to a custom rom.
For those who are afraid, as I was, please note that "custom rom" can no more be related to "unstable and testing". There is really reliables and stables release from highly qualified programmers (CM10,AOKP/AOSP, CROMI....).
Unless you only use the tablette to listen music without touching I really recommend to jump on a CRom.

Anyone who thinks that the nexus 10 is a good replacement for the infinity is nuts. I work in a tech store and have access to the nexus 10 and the ipad 4 (or ipad retina), the infinity dances circles around them and is way more productive. The infinity can replace laptops, unless you need high end software to edit videos, pictures, or data (stats software). The development on the infinity also rivals any other device out there. If you install CROMI you will understand, it has better support and updates than any other ROM out there. It also squashes them in terms of performance. At this point no software on my infinty is stock other than apps, and i couldnt be happier. Not many devices have a custom bootloader, kernel, governors, scheduler, ROM, theme, and UI mods that work to create a comprehensive and kickass system.
Agreed
I am with you, I only had my tablet for a month or two before not being able to stand it. But once I put CleanRom on it, it flies. Makes it worth it all the more, and those who have not done it yet, are missing out. However, before doing anything make sure you spend lots and lots of time looking up on how to do so!!!

Agreed.
I lasted 6 weeks and got pissed off with the constant native browser crashes..several sites that I frequent have Flash and only the native browser supports it properly. Didn't care about the warranty really, it is only for a year and it looks like I've got a decent device.
After I got over the "scared to break something", it was quite easy. Now just to keep up with the CROMI updates. It doesn't take long to patch at least.

This thread has it all Also, refer to Post 2 in that same thread for additional stuff.
I think by the time I gathered everything, read as much as possible, it took about 2 hours from start to finish.
There's also a youTube video in that thread. The software that he used was much easier in my opinion.

If you're having Flash issues, try Boat Browser. Flash works perfectly. It's nice to watch a CNN stream nice and smooth in Flash on this big screen.
i'm realy in a need to have a new phone.
oneplus one is still the best price for a new phone.
but like i see every where. BAD GROUNDING issue when its in a car stand or table so u cant use more than 2fingers. and ghost touches.
i dont want that.
cause i write very fast smses. so if the touchscreen is not folowing me im gonna go mad.
and that grounding would be anoying also cause i always internet in my bed. so.
help IS THIS A PROBLEM WITH ALL PHONES? i cant seem to find a awnser any where
Bad grounding? No idea.
Ghost touches? Fixed as of yesterday. Was a problem with the drivers which is up to Synpatics to resolve, not Cyanogen/OnePlus.

if readed that if you put it on a pillow the phone wont work (touchscreen) something with the bad grounding. don't know if its the right word
atleast last month like july some where. i asked a XDA developer "carburano" ex developer from my LG O2X
he got the phone in july and didnt recomand me it and that he won't use it and give it to his dad. but now 2 months later i wanna know if there are things fixed
cause 300€can't find a other goood phone. lg g2 is 300€ from ebay new. but without douane TAX.. so i need to add 20% to the price. and that doesnt make me happy.
this what he said. to me in august
"It is a great device but with an awful touchscreen... It has a bad grounding issue (hardware) that cannot allow more than 2 touches when you will use your phone in car stand or on a table... Also it has a bad software bug regarding touch driver"

It's hard to comprehend what you are saying, I've had my phone for a few days now and it is great. Coming from a Nexus 5 it seems like it is a good update and for the price I think it would be worth getting this over a LG G2.

I have heard absolutely nothing about grounding problems. As far as the touch problems, they weren't that bad and have been resolved as of yesterday.
I can tell you for sure that you won't be disappointed with the device. If you have a invite, buy the phone. I'm typing on my phone right now and am typing as fast as I can and have problems. Although you will need to flash a custom kernel to get the newest fix until the Ota is released but it should be very soon.

THX. See people he has no more problems! :highfive:
okay yeah sorry i write fast on pc always. and never read back what i write.
will see than. invite shouldnt be that hard. got invite like 20 times kept saying no for all that problems.
but thanks. if realy the touchscreen is fixed, its worth the shot. (now that i learned that the lg g2 isnt 299€ like i tought... stupid import tax 20%more on the buy price, not cool) i acualy dont want to spent more than, 300€ on a phone. so yeah.
The grounding issue you speak of is the exact issue i had. If the device was lying flat on a pillow for instance not plugged in the screen wouldn't register more than two fingers simultaneously. This has by a large degree been fixed with the latest available update 33R. Now there is already a new firmware on its way, think around next week, that is going to completely fix the issue and @zephiK just mentioned in another thread that there was another update added just over an hour ago so this issue seems to be well on its way to be done and dusted.

Its based on the newest kernel, build number has nothing to do with it.
The commits for the touchware firmware update is not in the latest OTA just yet.

Its in the kernel, you need to flash Franco r17. Otherwise, you'll have to wait for the official OTA to be released with the new kernel which contains the new firmware. All firmware/drivers are in the kernel.
hum, still not sure.
i don't want a phone that anoyes me....
Don't buy it then. But you need to realise that only a small percentage of these phones actually have any problems. The vast majority of these phones are perfectly fine. Don't just listen to the loud people complaining, they're always the most vocal.

To make it short, buy it and ignore those people digging everywhere just to find a hair in the soup.
