this is my first post and my english is not very good. I apologize for that.
(google translator helped me)
I have a HTC Explorer (Pico a310e), rooted, and I've tried many roms to find one good for me.
MIUI is the one that most satisfies me but, like all the others, the wi-fi tethering feature does not work,
even with 3rd parties programs.
This function works only with the stock rom, but as you know, the basic version (2.3.5/6) is not very efficient.
Someone has resolved / knows a rom like MIUI for performances, size and style?
In addition, someone know an fm-radio software (no data traffic) compatible with this device?
Similarly, this app is only in the stock rom.
Thank you in advance for those who respond
Greetings.
Vincenzo C.
Yes I know a radio app. Pm me. Can't post it here due to xda rules.

Hey all, I just rooted my inspire using Bubby's method and wanted to know if I could safely delete these apps. I did a search but didn't find a list of what you could and couldn't safely delete. I know you can flash a custom rom to remove the bloat but I just wanted root and to remove everything I know I wouldn't use. Feel free to add anything else I can remove that I didn't list. Thanks to everyone that responds.

It would be easier to flash an optimized stock ROM...

What would be some good ones if I decided to go that route? The ones I've seen mentioned a lot around here are Leedroid and Cleardroid. Which would be the best for battery life?

It is simple enough to find this out for yourself. Just make a backup of these apps with Titanium and then use Titanium to remove them (since some of these built-in apps might not uninstall the normal way). If you start to see problems then simply restore the needed app.
Yes, but maybe he does not have that kind of time to tinker with his phone...
You can also try Ingersoll, I found it to be the best optimized stock ROM with no bloatware.

you could also try cyanogen 7.3 or gingerbeast. those are very fast and contain little bloat

Alright thanks for that. This is my first android and just rooted it and now just want to get everything setup how I want it. If I flash a custom rom I want it to be near stock with good battery life and stick with that. I personally dont plan to flash diff roms every couple of days.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately I don't have the kind of time I would like to play with my new phone. Im the father of 7 month old twins and they take up a good amount of my free time.

one of the great things about cm7 is their system wide dsp. I use Spotify for my music and with streaming gaining popularity the included music apps get used less and less.
Currently I am on a sense based rom and am wondering if there are any Good dsp mods like the dsp in cm7 that work system wide out there for the rest of us?
I think there is a flashable somewhere in the sensation section for aosp dsp. And I think there's also a thread already asking (and has the link to it). But I'm on my mobile right now, and so searching for it won't get very decent results. But I know it's on here, as I have downloaded and flashed it before.

NEW VERSION IN TEST PHASE - COMING SOON
UTB-ROM for the HTC One S gives you a clean, no fuzz, CM9/AOSP based ROM.
Version 2.0 marks the start of the future. As we anxiously await the kernel drivers from HTC, talented developers are making good progress on getting AOSP running smoothly. While there are still some issues floating about, its time to start building the base for the new ROM.
Description
You have two options. v1.0.6 gives you an AOSP-like experience but with the comfort of the original stock HTC ROM as base. Most things work as expected. However, if you enjoy living on the bleeding edge, version 2.0 gives you an CM9 based ROM which will get some bleeding edge extras along the way. Version 2.0 is still very early in development and is currently pretty identical to a stock CM9 ROM, but I wanted to give a taste of what is coming.
Highlighted Features v2.0
CM9-base
Google Play Music
OLED-Optimized ICS Boot animation (true black levels)
Latest Google apps included for your convenience
Note that this is just an introductory release. It is plagued by the same bugs as the other AOSP/CM9 based ROM's are. But we are making good progress and soon we will get all bugs figured out, Im certain!
Highlighted Features v1.0.6
Stock Android apps (Trebuchet launcher, Android Messaging app, Android Contacts, etc, compiled from source)
Stock Android ICS notification bar
Most of the included HTC apps are long gone
Based on the new 1.64.997.1 kernel
Zipaligned
Just feels good!
Changelog
v1.0.6
Picasaweb added (syncing works, uploading is still an issue.. maybe because of this)
ICS Live Wallpapers
Updated Gallery app (Now shows your online photos)
1.0.5
Removed CruiserPwrExpert - A ridiculous logging tool from HTC that does nothing but drain your battery.
Removed the HTC Gallery
Removed HTC Music
Added AOSP Email and Exchange
Added Google Play Music
Added AOSP Gallery
Known Issues v1.0.6
Unlock required before answering call (Hard to fix as its a compatibility issue with Sense)
The HTC Camera is for some reason not willing to open the ICS Gallery for previews.
NOTE: If you are coming from a different base ROM than the one you are flashing, a full data wipe is encouraged and recommended.

Yeah, I left the stock HTC camera app and gallery app. The reason for this is the unique features of the ImageSense chip which I didnt quite get to work with the stock camera app.
HTC's settings are also still in as well as the HTC Music app, but I might be removing that in the next version. Unfortunately, until we get AOSP running on the One S, it will be difficult to escape HTC's customized stuff completely. But I am trying to get as close as I can without breaking anything.
In terms of bugs, I am still trying to resolve answering calls without having to unlock the screen. Apart from that, I havent found any other serious issues yet.
Feedback is most welcome though. Ive just made a ROM to satisfy my desires and needs
All good here man.data working..camera phone etc etc.no issues

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know the foundation is stable and solid.
Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the app switch button in here? I'd find it more useful to switch between apps than as a menu button.
Hmm haven't thought about it. Just made more sense to have a menu button. If you long-click the home button you get the app switcher though
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Problem is that when you don't assign menu to one of the buttons you get the onscreen menu button back...
Sent from my HTC One S
The on-screen button doesn't really bother me. At least it tips you off that there are hidden settings in some apps. Over time there should be less need for a menu button anyway. Guess it's just a preference of mine, but very awesome ROM otherwise!
Shame there's no live wallpapers though.

Is everyone experiencing better battery life with this ROM? Also, what is the issue exactly with screen unlock? When you update the ROM, will we have to wipe? Do you know how long before answering calls bug is resolved? I happen to enjoy this version of Sense versus the older ones but I'm all for trying a "lighter" version of the OS.

To be honest, I didnt really use my device much before I flashed it, so its hard to answer the question of battery life with any certain degree of accuracy. But battery life is great for me and Im sure the new kernel doesnt do it harm either.
The screen unlock issue isnt really an issue, but more a HTC - Android AOSP incompatibility problem. When an incoming call occurs while the phone is locked, you have to unlock the screen first before being able to click the answer-button.
Hello..
very great rom.. i'd like to know if there is a battery mod for this rom!
Thanks
Ivan
Hi there viperoneS users. I absolutely love the new rom. The developers have done a fantastic job.
However I do have an issue regarding the AOSP Lockscreen.
Everytime I check the AOSP imcomming call workaround option in the Lockscreen tweaks menu, it unchecks itself after reboot and the crucial option for me does not work.
Ive tried things like wiping cache, I even reinstalled the entire rom.
Can you guys please check if there's a bug or maybe provide me a solution to sort this out?
AOSP LOCKSCREEN looks much better than the standard sense Lockscreen, but because its not unlocking itself while getting a call I am forced to use the standard one.
I second that! The issue indeed exists!
Dude u post that in the viper thread why would u make your own thread just spam :banghead:

I'm having the same issue and can't post to the dev section as well.
From reading some other threads, it seems that this issue occurs with all of the aosp lockscreen implementations and is not just specific to this rom.
Wish there was a fix though as this rom rocks! Please update this thread of you get any answers.

this issue is prevalent in all VIPER ROM releases. Seems like they missed smething in coding the ASOP lockscreen tweak. Check the HTC One X forum and this issue has been raised there!
Seems like this issue has been resolved now after having upgraded to 1.1.

Also, it isn't that hard to get 10 posts...glad it got fixed.
Yep, works perfectly after 1.1.0 uptate. Thats what you call a quick response tp the problem

I, too, experienced the same problem with the Lockscreen. Also seemed to not work properly with Faceunlock, as well. I turned off the ICS AOSP lockscreen and it works fine now.
I have searched but am coming up empty so I started looking into the apks but I am not sure what exactly I need to change to make this work...
I would like to make the original FM radio work so I pulled the apk from the original, factory boxed ROM and tried to put it on my Paranoid Android 2.99. It installed but it just pops up with "Unfortunately, FM Radio has stopped"
I want to use the original email app as well because it has the peak/off peak feature.
I can get the apps to install but not run. I tried to remove the app that came with PA and then move the factory one into it's place but that did not produce any different results.
I am not afraid to open files and edit code but I really need some help as to where to start, if this is even possible.
Thanks to anyone that can help!
cant use sense .apks on nonsense roms, best to just use spirit radio or some other compatible fm radio in the market

OK, I will check out the radio app. Is there an email app that you could recommend that would allow me to control the times that it checks for emails/ accepts push notifications?
Thanks!
