[Q] Safe to delete these apps? - HTC Inspire 4G

Hey all, I just rooted my inspire using Bubby's method and wanted to know if I could safely delete these apps. I did a search but didn't find a list of what you could and couldn't safely delete. I know you can flash a custom rom to remove the bloat but I just wanted root and to remove everything I know I wouldn't use. Feel free to add anything else I can remove that I didn't list. Thanks to everyone that responds.

It would be easier to flash an optimized stock ROM...

What would be some good ones if I decided to go that route? The ones I've seen mentioned a lot around here are Leedroid and Cleardroid. Which would be the best for battery life?

It is simple enough to find this out for yourself. Just make a backup of these apps with Titanium and then use Titanium to remove them (since some of these built-in apps might not uninstall the normal way). If you start to see problems then simply restore the needed app.

Yes, but maybe he does not have that kind of time to tinker with his phone...
You can also try Ingersoll, I found it to be the best optimized stock ROM with no bloatware.

you could also try cyanogen 7.3 or gingerbeast. those are very fast and contain little bloat

Alright thanks for that. This is my first android and just rooted it and now just want to get everything setup how I want it. If I flash a custom rom I want it to be near stock with good battery life and stick with that. I personally dont plan to flash diff roms every couple of days.

I appreciate that. Unfortunately I don't have the kind of time I would like to play with my new phone. Im the father of 7 month old twins and they take up a good amount of my free time.

Yea
real easy just use super one click app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
My question is, silly me, WHY root? I ask because I rooted an HD2 previously and a Nook Color but in those cases I was gaining functinality I did not have. In the case of the HD2 it was a disaster, which is why I'm now on the Galaxy.
Why root GalaxyS 4g? For the Voodoo Control Plus app if nothing else. My phone sounds unbelievable now. Great app for a noobie like me. Just download from the market.

There are many reasons to root this device.
you can remove all the crap apps that T-mobile put on the phone. (all it does is slow it down)
Load custom ROM's
Install apps that require root access.
Change the look of the phone by theme mods
OverClock the device to make it run faster. (requires custom kernel)
undervolt the device to make it more efficient on the battery. (requires custom kernel)
Make back-up of the phone incase anything goes wrong.
there are other reasons I am sure, but these are some of the main reasons for me.
The reason I rooted my phone was to do a fota fix, now I have 400 mbs of space to download apps, I also got an ad blocker

Choppy Scrolling

I am having scrolling issues. I thought the issue was Rom related but after flashing cm7, UD, gingersense roms and even the stock RUU....I still have very choppy scrolling. I flash FULLWIPE prior to flashing any Rom. I have tried different kernels as well. Currently on ingersol 2.5 with kernel. Still a little choppy but the best I have has this far. Any ideas? I am willing to try anything really. My phone doesn't feel fast anymore thanks for the help.
FYI the issue is everywhere. Scrolling through setting, pics, app drawer, the web, and widgets.

Well, you sound like your somewhat experienced with flashing and stuff, but I'll ask anyway:
Have you checked apps and services? Are you restoring (maybe inadvertently) backed-up system data or apps/data after new flashes that might be messing with something?
Inspired Ace 1.0.1¦ XDA Premium
I am not restoring with TB...but I am allowing Google to backup and restore. Could that be the issue? After each flash Google restores like 25 apps. Not data though.

It could be. Google starts going to town on the app restoration thing.
I haven't done a whole a lot of new-rom flashes, but last flash, I remember Google taking the liberty of re-installing apps that I know for a fact I had uninstalled from the phone prior to the flash.
So I don't know how often or what action on the part of the user causes Google to "refresh" its list of what apps you have on your phone at any given time, but I personally would like to get some control over that.
So it's something to check into. I also don't know to what degree app data is able to be restore by way of the Google restore process, but I'd imagine it is possible for some of those apps to have some data restored as well.
Long story short... It's an area that has raised questions in my mind and I'm interested in gaining some clarity on the subject.

Probably stating the obvious, but are you using a Live Wallpaper? Almost every one I have tried other than the stock ones cause visible scrolling and swiping lag for me.

This rom seems to be running great, I've not had a single issue since flashing about 6 hours ago. I am however wondering if this or an any gb rom is overclockable? Sorry if this is a lame question but I haven't seen anything mentioned one way or another any place that I have looked.

I'd say no.
As far as I know you need a kernel that allows you to step over 1ghz and this is most likely stock kernel since we don't have source for it...

Tegrak in the market will oc the stock rom and kernel. Free version I think gets up to 1.3ghz
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
It was removed due to their being several better messaging apps on the market.
To answer the overclock question until source for the kernel is released the onlyway to overclock is to use tegrak.
It is awesome to know I am jut shy of 150 downloads after 1.5 days.thanks for downloading my rom and hopefully more of you will post you thoughts.

Couple of things, if you put in addons like zedge and ADW plese put them in /data/apps not /system/apps, since this makes it a pain to uninstall/remove.
secondly, include a file manager, i hate having to install a file manager to install my file manager. 3rd include the Email.apk, i dont understand this latest trend towards removing that, it's rather important and fair amount of us use exchange, again it's a pain to put back and no i don't want to use the other **** email programs from the market

I will highly consider this however i will most likely optimize the pngs to make it smaller and it will probably end up on the sd card for quick removal by those whome that don't want to use it and prefer one from the market.I will however suggest to you if you have not already try k9 mail it is by far the best email app on the market and provides all the functionality plus customization options.
To Answer your question on the file manager i am currently working through and evaluating a few which i consider the best and will be releasing one with version 2.0 which will be optimized and then included in the rom.
The last thing you brought up was the placement of the included app's.I will also in version 2.0 happily move those to the sd card.
Thank you for your suggestions, and i hope you are enjoying my rom regardless of these slight inconveniences you have experienced.

I am happy to say that thus far IHR has been downloaded 234 times.Thank you for everybody that has chosen my rom and i hope version 2 does not dissapoint.

Looking for root app opinions

I simply have a couple questions I'd like to get advice on. Rom Toolbox and Titanium Backup.
I already got Titanium but I'm inquiring whether an app like Rom Toolbox is useful.
I am rooted but running the stock Rom. I'd like to keep it simple and get used to learning about being rooted before getting into flashing.
Any other root apps from the Play store I should load? I'd prefer to avoid useless apps. Searching the Internet doesn't always yield the results I'm looking for. Everyone has been so helpful here I'm looking for good friendly advice.
Thanks,
Jon

Rom toolbox is not useful for us for the most part... Good root apps are : set CPU or any of.the CPU apps. titanium . CPU spy.. Erm I can't think of the others that I use....there are some fun ones like WiFi kill but.keep away from Rom toolbox
Be careful. Most root apps are harmless but there are a few that can brick your phone. Stay away from stuff like Rom Manager and Rom Toolbox. Apps that let you take shortcuts with flashing are likely to put you in a boot loop if they don't brick you. I'm not aware of any that work with this phone beyond Goo Manager.

AdAway is brilliant, get's rid of ads. I'm all for app developers getting their dues, but I struggle to avoid clicking the ads acidentally with my oafish fingers. I buy the pro versions of the really useful apps.
Droidwall is great, it let's you set which apps can use which network interfaces to get the internet (if at all). You can stop streaming video apps from using all of your data plan by setting them to only use wifi.

Making Original Apps Work on JB???

I have searched but am coming up empty so I started looking into the apks but I am not sure what exactly I need to change to make this work...
I would like to make the original FM radio work so I pulled the apk from the original, factory boxed ROM and tried to put it on my Paranoid Android 2.99. It installed but it just pops up with "Unfortunately, FM Radio has stopped"
I want to use the original email app as well because it has the peak/off peak feature.
I can get the apps to install but not run. I tried to remove the app that came with PA and then move the factory one into it's place but that did not produce any different results.
I am not afraid to open files and edit code but I really need some help as to where to start, if this is even possible.
Thanks to anyone that can help!
