unlocked bootloader? - HTC Inspire 4G

I when threw the process of unlocking my bootloader on my moms old HTC inspire phone. My question is how would I know if it worked? I don't think it worked because it still says "locked" when I go to the *vol down + pwr button* menu. I clicked unlock bootloader on the screen. Is this normal? Or did it just not work?

I guess that didn't finish the whole process. When successful, you should read UNLOCKED at the top of the hboot.

Ya I had that feeling. Strange though that I had the pop up on screen and told it to unlock.
Oh well time to try it again.
Thanks.

How can I lock the bootloader without using power button

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA
I am assuming you tried fastboot oem lock and on the phone it asked for a confirmation with the power button . I never relocked myself so I am not sure if it requires you to do so. Obviously if it does then you can't relock it via fastboot.
The only other option would be using Odin to do it. Never used Odin myself but there is a option in there to relock I think. Will it work and is it safe? Don't know.

Does anyone else know more info about locking with Odin? Is it actually possible? I was able to flash the 4.0.4 leak with Odin no problem but I'm trying to relock my bootloader and I keep getting stuck at "waiting for device" when trying with fastboot and messing with installing the correct drivers is pissing me off.

And the answer is, yes. To lock bootloader with Odin just check the box in Odin that says "flash lock"

Did you read the thread I posted?? If you did then you'll know that if your power button is broken & you try using odin or fastboot, then you'll get nowhere fast! The device thinks the power button is permanently depressed so it cannot find the device because the button's not letting it enter that mode, (odin or fastboot!) read the link/thread I provided!!

Thanks for the link but my power button is fine. My problem was that Odin recognized my device but not fastboot. So learning that I could lock the bootloader with Odin was the info I needed

Bootloader not unlocking

I'm having issues unlocking my bootloader. I go through all the steps, get to the end and cmd prompt says its sending unlock token (0 kb)... It will not go any farther than this. I have to then manually reboot. What am I doing wrong? I've searched the forums and cannot find an answer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Make sure you are in the boot loader first, or command won't succeed. I think command is, adb reboot bootloader if not, volume down plus power button when phone is OFF, then select bootloader in hboot, then send command to get unlock token

This is while in Bootloader mode fastboot USB. I have got the unlock_code.bin from htcdev website but it just sits on the Bootloader and says its sending unlock code and never gets the okay, never fails, just sits there. Am I supposed to just leave on there for an hour or what. I've waited at least ten minutes or more and then manually reboot from Bootloader. I have att one xl. Cid does check 11111111.

I actually get to the part where it asks to unlock it, I chose unlock via the volume rocker, then hit the power button. It does wipe data because the phone will reboot and act like I haven't set it up. I adb reboot bootloader, and it says "relocked" at the top. Any help would be great! I've done this three times now!

Had the exact same thing happen to me recently. I was able to fix by booting directly back into bootloader after clicking unlock on the phone. Was doing it to see if it was reverting to relocked immediately. Not sure if it was coincidence, but the unlock stuck when I did it.

Relocked - Now wont Unlock again

Hi,
I wanted to debrand by phone so i did the supercid thing to change from t-mob_005 to 1111111, then i installed latest HTC rom (and ver 4.0.4 software number 2.21.401.10) which in turn upgraded hboot to 1.14 and baseband to 1.06s.
Now, ive got my new token id and resubmitted to htcdev and then installed the new unlock_code it gave me back, all seemed to go thru ok, came up with the screen about voiding warranty, use volume to select yes or no, ive selected yes and it then reboots... but still the bootloader says relocked. ive tried the same over and over and even gone thru the process of new token id etc again but still i cant unlock it.
where am i going wrong?
Hi I had the same problem how I got over it is let the phone boot up enable USB debugging and disable fastboot in the power menu then completely power off the phone
Wait a minute then reboot once you get back to the home screen press power and restart holding volume down when you get to the bootloader screen it should now say unlocked once more

[Q] Unlocked phone, now I can't boot into bootloader

I was trying to root one of my One x's and got to the unlocked with x-factor, got the phone unlocked. Had an emergency and had to stop at that point. Now I can't boot back into bootloader. Can any one tell what I need to do to get back to the point where i was at so I can finish rooting. Thank you for any help that is given.
Where excactly in the process did you stop? Have you flashed recovery?

You can manually enter bootloader by holding volume down and power at the same time. When lights stop flashing, release power while continuing to hold volume down. It will go into bootloader.

I got to flash a recovery on the Hasoon2000's HTC One X All-in-One Kit, now when I try to boot up I get the HTC screen with red writing (warning about legal action) and then a black screen and when I plug in the USB and the PC says installing device drivers, it says device driver not successfully installed, that's as far as I can get. Tried to get into bootloader on the Hansoon app and the command prompt says device not found.

Yes it will say device not found because you're not in fastboot or booted into rom with USB debugging on. You need to manually boot to the bootloader.
If your phone is on. Press and hold power. The back home and app switch keys on the bottom of the phone will blink 5 times, the screen will go black. Let go of power and wait 2-3 seconds, then, BEFORE the screen turns back on, press and hold power and volume down until the bootloader comes on
If your phone is off just press and hold volume down and power until it boots into bootloader.
You may have trouble while your phone is plugged in so best to do this with it unplugged.
* On a side note, If you haven't read enough to know how to get into the bootloader you should REALLY not be messing around with your phone.

[Q] Is my phone bricked?

Hey guys,
I found your forum after I gave a guy my phone so he could root it but he couldn't deliver. However, when I got back the phone it took longer to boot up and after it got past the "HTC One X" screen, instead of allowing me to put in my PIN to unlock (as usual), it sent me to a blank screen showing only my current wallpaper and the task bar (with the time, power, signal, etc).
The major part of the screen is unresponsive. The three buttons below are unresponsive as well.
I'm able to pull the task bar down and when I click the "settings" button I get this message: "unfortunately the process com.android.settings has stopped"
What does this mean for my phone? Can this be fixed?
Any help would be great. I've done a bit of reading, but I'm still very new to this. The phone is an AT&T HTC One X, 1.85, running 4.0.3.
Thanks in advance.

Yes it should be fixable but we don't know what that person did to your phone.. if he never got to the point of changing the cid. You can just run the 1.85 ruu and then root it yourself if you want because its not difficult. Or if root intimidates you you cab stay stock.
If he did happen to change the cid youll have to unlock the bootloader if its not already and either flash a ROM or s-off and then ruu.
I'm sure this can seem like a lot but everything will be fine. What I need to see is the information in your bootloader. And your cid.
How to get into your bootloader: press and hold power while your phone is on until the back home and recent apps buttons blink 5 times and then shuts off. Once the screen is off. Wait 2-3 seconds and then press and hold power and volume down.
Show me the bootloader.

You're probably supercid. You'll need to unlock the bootloader and s-off. You should install the HTC drivers and fastboot and get to work. Do you want to be rooted and stuff or stock?
The reason I ask is, we will proceed differently if you just want to stay stock but if you intend to flash Roms and whatnot, we will unlock root and s-off and downgrade touchscreen firmware.

Do you have the HTC Drivers, fastboot/adb installed?
If not, Get ADB/Fastboot. Unzip and keep in a folder somewhere. Remember where. I use C:\Android myself. You can have yours wherever is most convenient.

HTC Drivers:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126036
Once you've installed those:
Boot to Bootloader/Fastboot
Plug your phone in to your PC
Shift right click inside the folder where you keep ADB/Fastboot and click in the menu "Open Command prompt here"
Then type in command prompt: fastboot oem readcid
And show me what it says after.

no next is to RUU since OP can't use his phone currently.
Now here's the thing. I am not sure how far the last guy got with your phone. Your HBOOT says tampered.. If he modified the HBOOT, there's a chance you will full, unrecoverably brick. I don't want to be responsible for this happening. That's why I am telling you this. Here's the link if you want to take the risk.

Run that exe file with your phone plugged in, in bootloader/fastboot. It will, hopefully, return your phone to a working state.
