How can I lock the bootloader without using power button - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sent from my Nexus S using XDA

I am assuming you tried fastboot oem lock and on the phone it asked for a confirmation with the power button . I never relocked myself so I am not sure if it requires you to do so. Obviously if it does then you can't relock it via fastboot.
The only other option would be using Odin to do it. Never used Odin myself but there is a option in there to relock I think. Will it work and is it safe? Don't know.

Does anyone else know more info about locking with Odin? Is it actually possible? I was able to flash the 4.0.4 leak with Odin no problem but I'm trying to relock my bootloader and I keep getting stuck at "waiting for device" when trying with fastboot and messing with installing the correct drivers is pissing me off.

And the answer is, yes. To lock bootloader with Odin just check the box in Odin that says "flash lock"

Did you read the thread I posted?? If you did then you'll know that if your power button is broken & you try using odin or fastboot, then you'll get nowhere fast! The device thinks the power button is permanently depressed so it cannot find the device because the button's not letting it enter that mode, (odin or fastboot!) read the link/thread I provided!!

Thanks for the link but my power button is fine. My problem was that Odin recognized my device but not fastboot. So learning that I could lock the bootloader with Odin was the info I needed

Step 1:
Download the appropriate factory image from: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#sojuimm76d and make sure you have a working fastboot tool on your computer.
The thing is. I can get to fastboot, but it just doesn't respond, I can't use the volume keys during it...

Samsung Gio Stuck on Boot & Can't enter Recovery

Earlier, my Gio told me about rebooting for something about wiping data or something like that.
There was no other option so I pressed the button and it restarted now its stuck on a screen, not sure if it's download mode :/
It has the Android mascot and a box with an orange arrow coming out of it, with a progress bar on the bottom that does not move. The screen also flickers. I have tried plugging my phone on the PC but it does not work. Have any idea how to fix this?

[Q] Asus stuck on splash screen. Bricked?

So as the title says, my Asus tf300t is stuck on the splash screen (I believe that is the right term, the screen where it says "devices is UnLocked). I have seen a lot of other posts that say this happens if you are in the bootloader and choose the wipe data option, however this is not what I did. I had my tablet flashed with a custom BAKED rom (though I dont remember exactly what it was called, I could probably find it again though) and I wanted to get to the recovery (I have CWM installed). I held down the power button and clicked reboot, and then chose the recovery option. That's all I did. When it rebooted, it stayed on the splash screen. I have tried to no avail to enter bootloader by holding down power and volume down, and that does not work. I have tried to let it die and then restart it, but that also seems to not work. The only thing that I can seem to do is get into APX mode. I know that if I had NvFlash I could "unbrick" my tablet, but I unfortunately didn't know about it until this happened. Is there any hope for my tablet? I have read that replacing the motherboard will solve this, but I'm hoping to avoid that if possible.
Also, I haven't been able to find this anywhere, but I'm curious as to what exactly APX mode is?
Many Thanks.

So, I'm confused at your short answer. See, I'm not sure how I can flash anything because I can't get it to connect either fastboot or adb. Should it be connect fastboot at the splash screen? or with apx? Is it possible to flash twrp through apx?
Also, why twrp? Is it just a preference, or is it more suited than cwm in this case?
Any more clarification would be very helpful.

Well, I personally haven't had issues with twrp. Also, you have to reboot to bootloader and select fastboot if you're on the 4.1 firmware. Otherwise if you're on 4.2, it should start on its own.
Have you setup fastboot and adb on your computer correctly?

I think one of us is confused. I'm not sure that I understand you correctly. You see, I cant get into the bootloader. Whenever I try to restart my tablet into the bootloader it just stays on the screen that says "ASUS" and in the top left corner it says "This devices is unlocked". As far as I can tell, from this screen it is not possible to connect either adb or fastboot.

If you Power + Vol.Down for some seconds what can you read after "Device is unlocked"?
On which bootloader are you?

This is the problem, nothing shows up if I do that. I have done it before, many times, and I know what to look for as far as manually bootloading goes, and nothing shows up. It stays on the "device is unlocked" screen.
As for the bootloader, I'm not sure exactly how to tell which one it is, but it had four option I believe.

[Q] I accidentally used a fastboot "boot" command to flash a recovery img

I'm pretty sure I'm bricked now. Black ATT One X. Flashing updated twrp so I can flash 4.4 roms, but wasn't paying attention and typed boot instead of recovery out of habit. Now my phone only goes to htc splash screen and turns off again. I can't get into recovery or fast boot. I'm bricked aren't I?

I'm assuming you are holding down the power and volume down keys at the same time to get into the bootloader?
Sometimes you have to hold both buttons (power button and volume down button) for 10 to 15 seconds. I've had to do this multiple times in a row to get out of a bootloop in the past.
If the phone attempts to boot and you can see the splash screen then you are not bricked yet. Bricked means nothing happens when you push the power button.

Yes. Doing that doesn't do anything until I take my fingers off, then it tries to do a normal boot and powers off again.
What command did you type exactly?
There is a fastboot command for just booting a recovery.IMG (fastboot boot recovery.img), but it wouldn't cause the problem you are having. It would just boot you into that recovery without actually flashing it.
Edit: what are your phone specs?... i.e. carrier, hboot version, etc...

If what I suggested doesn't work and there's absolutely no way to get to the bootloader or get fastboot to work, you're kinda screwed. You'll probably have to try getting a jtag repair done, I think that'll be your only option.
I doubt a moderator is going to bump up a new user's status just because you need to reply more often, it doesn't really work like that.
