Can't boot phone - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I can't get my phone to boot up after flashing something that it didn't like and I can't get back into recovery because my volume buttons don't work. Anyone know of a way I could get it into recovery another way. When I turn the phone on it only boots to the warning about my bootloader being unlocked and that's it! Help, please!!

Is it recognized by adb or fastboot?
Sent From My Droid Ultra

Well, whenever I tried adb I typed "adb devices" and nothing came up and then I tried the command to reboot recovery and it said there was no device, so I guess it is not recognized by adb :/

I don't think that's gonna work. I've already taken the whole phone apart and I got to where the buttons push and there were like no buttons there. I figured the little buttons should look like the power button, but they didn't.

Power+up is good for boot loops but if you have a recovery installed you can access it through the boot loader menu

No, stay on the bootloader interface, don't press anything, connect it to ur PC and type this in adb: fastboot devices see if you can see your phone's serial number.

That's bad, I recommend to hand it in for repairs, since you can't even connect it to a PC nor boot into recovery.

Step 1:
Download the appropriate factory image from: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#sojuimm76d and make sure you have a working fastboot tool on your computer.
The thing is. I can get to fastboot, but it just doesn't respond, I can't use the volume keys during it...

Fastboot mode

I have a sprint nexus s 4g on ICS 4.0.4 still on stock never rooted or unlocked, and I can't put it into fastboot mode when I press the power and volume up button I get a menu with four options reboot bootloader, reboot, recovery, and power off. Am I missing something ? I tried to search and didn't find anything.

Because your device isn't recognized by your computer. Or in other words, you didn't install the drivers/install them properly.

adb drivers are not the same as fastboot drivers sadly. Once you're in fastboot mode, check your devices in Device Manager and see if there are any unrecognized or anything like "Android Device" or something. One tip is install PDAnet on your PC, it will do fastboot drivers for you (it works for me but others have varying success)

Yes.
As a previous poster stated you don't got fastboot drivers installed.
Adb and fastboot are not the same
Looks like a problem solved just search the forum for fastboot drivers and you'll be good to go

Help!! Stuck on boot screen after update

So my brother accepted the 4.2 update on Thursday. He is stock and non-rooted. When he accepted the update, his tablet was in the keyboard dock. He let it be while it updated for about 2 hours. It was still on the boot screen. Then, he detached it from the dock and put it on the charger. It's been just shy of six hours, and it's still on the boot screen. What should we do?

We don't know what happened. Do you know if the software installed but failed to boot up or it never installed? Obviously it's not doing anything right now, so you have no choice but reboot the device. If it bricked it already done.

Turn off your device, then hold down volume down and power buttons, when you see a white text on the screen release both buttons, now use the Volume down to switch the highlighted RCK to Android icon, then hit the Volume up button twice to execute. This will cold boot your device.

Seems like you're updated to 4.2 but something corrupted prevented it from booting up. Try the same procedures but this time select "wipe data" icon then hit volume up twice to execute it. This is like factory reset.
Thank you, we factory reset it and it was at 4.2.1 working properly.

Nice! glad it worked for you.
Hey, Im sorry for hijacking this thread.
But I have exactly the same issue. Expect that my Tf700 wont boot, after that wipe...
Its still stuck on the "Asus" Screen.
Before I installed via OTA, I tried to save root with OTA Rootkeeper and changed nothing else. Im stock and my bootloader is locked.
I have also just 3 icons when pressing power and volume down. So I think I have a similar problem you described buhohitr.
If I boot with Volume Down and Power Button pressed there is this text:
Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329" A03

Did you try to boot into recovery then select the "WIPE DATA" icon (by hiting the volume down until it highlighted, then press the volume up button twice. It will wipe data then reboot your device automatically.

[Q] I accidentally used a fastboot "boot" command to flash a recovery img

I'm pretty sure I'm bricked now. Black ATT One X. Flashing updated twrp so I can flash 4.4 roms, but wasn't paying attention and typed boot instead of recovery out of habit. Now my phone only goes to htc splash screen and turns off again. I can't get into recovery or fast boot. I'm bricked aren't I?

I'm assuming you are holding down the power and volume down keys at the same time to get into the bootloader?
Sometimes you have to hold both buttons (power button and volume down button) for 10 to 15 seconds. I've had to do this multiple times in a row to get out of a bootloop in the past.
If the phone attempts to boot and you can see the splash screen then you are not bricked yet. Bricked means nothing happens when you push the power button.

Yes. Doing that doesn't do anything until I take my fingers off, then it tries to do a normal boot and powers off again.
What command did you type exactly?
There is a fastboot command for just booting a recovery.IMG (fastboot boot recovery.img), but it wouldn't cause the problem you are having. It would just boot you into that recovery without actually flashing it.
Edit: what are your phone specs?... i.e. carrier, hboot version, etc...

If what I suggested doesn't work and there's absolutely no way to get to the bootloader or get fastboot to work, you're kinda screwed. You'll probably have to try getting a jtag repair done, I think that'll be your only option.
I doubt a moderator is going to bump up a new user's status just because you need to reply more often, it doesn't really work like that.

Agreed. Unless you can get fastboot access back to overwrite your boot partition, your in a pickle. In any event, hopefully this will serve as a lesson to you concerning the detail and care you need to show when it comes to altering your phones.
